Masthead
Reflecting the house style
Masthead
I will use white font with a red background as this is commonly used on Dennis magazines to reflect the Dennis logo.
Image
On my magazine my image will take up around ¾ of the space and with the model ‘in-action’ rather than posing as this is what is on most
Dennis magazines. The masthead will be a strip across the top of it with possibly adverts for or other cover lines on top of that
Other cover lines
They will be above the masthead
Range of current affairs issues covered
LGBTQ+
I have chosen to use this current affair for the first of my magazines because I have a lot of people close to me
who are a part of this community and I am aware that this topic has, in recent years, received a large amount of
attention in the general media about how we should be more accepting and move on from the prejudice
opinions
Black Lives Matter movement
I have chosen to use this current affair for the second of my magazines because on recent events and a
realisation that this topic needs to be spoken more about in the 16-25 year old age group
Mood board for Black Lives
Matter magazine
Mood board for Pride/
LGBTQ+ magazine
Name of magazine, tagline and colour scheme
Masthead - The Sophisticated Youth – I have chosen this as the name of my magazine because it goes
against the stereotypical opinions about the youth from older age groups; in terms of thinking that they are
uncapable of being ‘sophisticated’ with their opinions and their mannerisms
Tagline – Sophisticated Opinions for Young Minds – I have chosen this tagline for my magazine because as it
displays how this magazine is capable of embracing young opinions and adding to hem in a healthy way
Colour scheme - My masthead will be red and white to reflect the style of a Dennis magazine
Other images
Ideas for magazine number 1

you receive?’
‘What else can I do to help?’
‘What precautions could I take when protesting?’
Ideas for magazine number 2
Main headline – PRIDE – Bookman Old Style
Masthead – Masthead
Cover lines – Possibilities
‘Do I look ‘gay’ to you?’
‘How can I show my support?’

‘Why do we have PRIDE month?’
Locations
Locations for Magazine number 1
Front cover Contents Page
Location?
Time?
Date?
Why?
Location – in front of the sign for the school just outside of the
school gates
Time and Date – 12:35 on 23rd September 2020
Why – this sign has red and black students on it which reflect
the colours of the school and you can see the school rising up
above behind it so this would reflect that high school is ‘big
and scary’ and everyone hopes to be accepted for who they
are in it
Location – Room 64 English Classroom
Time and Date – 12:35 on 14th October 2020
Why – this classroom has good lighting and their isn’t large
distracting things on the walls but having them in the
background will show the school environment that the
audience will be familiar with
Picture of location
Permission needed No permission needed No permission needed
Potential hazards / risks • That a vehicle tries to park directly in front on the entrance
whilst we are there – to avoid this we will take care with
road safety
• Students and staff may be waking across into the entrance
whilst we are there – to avoid this we will take the pictures
while people would usually be in lessons
Risk is low as this room has already been risk assessed due to
its purpose
• Electronic cables at the front to the room – to avoid this we
will not go near the teacher’s desk

Location?
Time?
Date?
Why?
Location - In front of the school entrance
Time and Date - 12:35 on 17th September
Why – I’m using this location because it is in front of the
school environment (that the audience will recognise) and is
reasonably dark but their will be small pride elements that will
show her as part of the community
Location – in front of the school dates (with ‘STOP’ on the
floor
Time and Date – 12:35 on 15th September
Why – The ‘STOP’ on the floor would be saying stop to all of
the prejudice and out of date opinions about Pride and the
bright coloured clothing would stand out against this dark
background

Cover of magazine number 1
As this magazine is about race there will be a mixed race
women with makeup on so reflecting my research. She
will be in front of a school as most of my audience is
within the 16-18 age group (sixth-form/college) with
those higher than that being 18+ likely in university or
vividly remember the high school experience
Contents page of magazine number 1
This will have an image of different races
Cover of magazine number 2
As this magazine is about the LGBTQ+ community there
will be a someone on the front cover with something
holographic (showing the rainbow) on their face
Contents page of magazine number 2
there will be 4 people on this image to represent the
different kinds of relationships within the LGBTQ+
community with a lot of bright coloured clothing to mimic
the pride flag
Other images
Other images on magazine number 1
I will feature a small images that have previously being
used to raised awareness such as a small Black Lives
Matter poster
Other images on magazine number 2
I will feature smaller images of different pride flags that
have previously been used to raise awareness of the
PRIDE movement
Puffs and Plugs
Puffs and pugs of magazine number 1
Notices about protests people can attend in their local
areas. Will also include other ways they can help such as
donating money and links people can follow that will lead
them to petitions for causes relating to the movement
such as for black people to get justice against authority
figures such as the police. As well as links for people who
want to educate themselves about the Black Lives Matter
movement.
Puffs and pugs on magazine number 2
Notices about the upcoming pride parades in their local
area and what pride will look like in the coming June
(pride month). As well as links people can follow to
educate themselves about the LGBTQ+ movement
Reflecting social groups
Cover and contents page of magazine number 1
There will be a mixed-race women on the font cover to
represent the black and the white. I will also be using a
black person, a mixed race person and a white person on
the contents to include all three of the ‘main’ races.
I will be allowing all people to present themselves
however they choose; whether or not they choose to
conform to their stereotypes will be up to them in terms
of things such as natural hair texture and clothing
Cover and contents page of magazine number 2
There will be someone on the cover who is a part of the
LGBTQ+ community; on the cover it will be up the person
if the choose to advertise the stereotypes such as the
pride flag on their clothing
However, on the contents page I will somewhat conform
to stereotypes as I will request for them not to wear
clothing but accessories such as necklaces, pins or
wristbands to show they are part of the community. I am
doing this to show my audience that this is a community
where just by having simple accessories it can show
someone who is afraid that they are not alone, you just
have to look carefully
Digital convergence
My magazines along with my websites will be digitally convergence because I will not only use the same colour
scheme so they can easily be linked together but I will also use things such as competitions and further information to
attract my audience across both products. Another thing I would use on my website would be to hint at possible
future issues that the magazine will be on.
I will use the same people on my magazines as on my websites but use different images.
