2. WHY ARTISTS USE SOCIAL MEDIA
Social media is a very important part to artists in todays society, as it can be a huge part
of how successful they are. Artists like Nicki Minaj have 70 million followers on
Instagram! It is very important that artists choose to use social media as it can make their
fans feel more close to them personally, by doing things such as life updates, or even
liking or commenting back to fans. It also allows the fans to gain access to extra
information about the artist. Such as where they are at the minute, their romantic life,
friendships with other celebrities etc. It keeps their fans up to date. Social media also
allows extra free promotion off the artist themselves. Artists will pay companies to
promote them on merchandise, adverts etc. But using their social media pages such as
Facebook and Twitter to advertise is a great free incentive as they are letting their fans
know about: tour dates, new merchandise, etc.

6. WHICH SOCIAL MEDIA PRODUCTS WE
DECIDED TO USE
We created an: Instagram, website, Facebook, Twitter and YouTube account for our artist.
We decided to use these as they are the most commonly used within artists, as when we
researched this a lot of artists had their own YouTube channel to promote their music.
They also kept their fans up to date on things such as Twitter and Instagram. Also as our
target audience is 15-25 year olds we thought these social media products were most
useful and appropriate as lots of people this age have these social media sites.
7. DOES SOCIAL MEDIA LINK OUR
PRODUCTS TOGETHER?
We used images from our digipak, and other photoshoots to add onto the Instagram
page, so it was similar types of images and so that it linked together. We also thought
that it would help to promote the album as if it was posted on the social media pages
people would see it and want to purchase it. We kept the same colour scheme of light
colours, including: yellows, pinks, greys and purples throughout. As the digipak front
cover is monochrome with a bright yellow font and costume we thought this colour
linked well. We kept links for every social media on the bottom of the website page, so
it is easy accessible and we also embedded the Instagram page onto the website so it
was fun and interactive, it also allows fans to like and comment on the pictures via the
website.
