Technology has increased mobility and connectivity and is transforming the way we work. Most of today's organisational systems and process to manage talent are failing to actually stimulate learning and growth and close capability gaps; a radical overhaul is needed. Moving to an individually self-managed approach will release huge latent potential within organisations and help individuals grow and fulfil their ambitions.
ME+ will enable these changes.
The updated version is now available.
Learning Objective: Support leadership effectiveness in managing remote and virtual teams
Description: Leadership experts challenge leaders to engage employees, carve out more face time, and employ strategies that seem virtually impossible when your team is assembled around the world. This team structure and challenge is becoming increasingly popular with evolving technology. How can leaders increase the effectiveness of remote and global teams? There are several specific tasks and approaches that every leader should consider when managing and leading remote teams. Virtual connections must rely on specific tools, techniques, and skills to effectively build relationships and accomplish tasks. This workshop will enhance your leadership skills and provide you with the essential tools needed to transform your team’s virtual experience.
At the end of this seminar, participants will be able to:
1. Examine how current leaders manage remote and global teams.
2. Explore the limitations and role of technology in leading remote teams.
3. Examine cultural and other factors that impact virtual effectiveness.
Learning Objective: Learn how to unlock the data within your own company to chart the smartest growth plan possible.
Your business is running well, and everything is humming along. Life is great, right? Not true. Every minute your business is operating is a minute your company is collecting information and generating insights that can help it run more efficiently and grow even smarter. Thankfully, there are powerful analytics tools that allow us to capture info and analyze it, providing insights into how to utilize your tools and create a path for greatness.
At the end of this seminar, the participants will:
1. Learn about new tech trends and how advanced analytics, AI, and conversational UI (user interface) are changing the game for business owners.
2. Hear about the latest tools and best practices for collecting data and using tech to help make informed decisions to push your business forward.
3. Understand how these new tools are helping entrepreneurs accurately assess risks and proactively address them.
4. Look to the future where technology more fully enables our business and unlocks opportunities we never thought of.
Learning Objective: Discuss how emerging technology can assist organizations with finding the best business value and unlocking corporate influence
We hear a lot about the terms artificial intelligence and virtual reality, but does anyone really know what they do and how they are effective in the corporate environment? Over the next few years, artificial intelligence and virtual reality are going to revolutionize technology in every field and change the way we work across the globe. For example, AI and VR can be used in staff training for professionals, project management can use VR to show finished projects, and employees can be placed in real-world scenarios through immersive experiences. Our experts will take a cross-cut slice through the concept, from strategy to implementation, to unlock the mysteries behind AI and VR and illuminate how they can be used to increase insight into your business strategy. This seminar will help you understand the threats and opportunities at a strategic level to assess what your business could be doing to improve processes.
At the end of this seminar, participants will be able to:
1. Discuss what artificial intelligence and virtual reality are, and what the business benefits of implementing them in their corporate strategy are.
2. Explore the capabilities for leveraging AI to improve business acumen.
3. Examine factors that construct a foundation for building competitive opportunities and increasing stratagem.

How Adopting an Open Business Model Can Lead to a Digital TransformationEduarda Davidovic
The purpose of the session is to review business strategies and new business models applied when companies have to drive digital transformation in their businesses. Recent researches indicate that the vast majority of CEOs worldwide had attempted some degree of business model innovation, but hurdles have been reported during the process.
In the first part of the talk, we analyse business transformation models and frameworks - we assess how identifying customers’ needs and the value of products to customers is the first step to establish a digital culture; how embracing an ‘open business model’ can be a strategic movement for a company to ease the ‘digitising pace’. In the second part, a self-developed framework will be introduced which has the ability to supply a holistic view onto any industry who works with tech start-ups, fostering collaborative partnerships between them.
Following the evolvement of the study, this session identifies 4 essential stages to start digital transformation: 1) defining a ‘job to be done’; 2) writing a ‘brief’; 3) ideas review; and 4) implementing innovation.

Over the course of four years, authors Gerald C. Kane, Anh Nguyen Phillips, Jonathan R. Copulsky and Garth R. The researchers’ insights can help guide any company to “digital maturation.” They found that technology alone doesn’t drive digitalization. Rather, a firm’s talent, culture, adaptability and leadership matter most. The authors offer strong arguments, detailed examples and solid advice, including a warning not to copy another firm’s digital path but to adapt the process to your unique culture.

Businesses are spending heavily on recruiting and developing young talent through direct entry graduate schemes and other early careers programmes, yet 25% of companies have unfilled positions due to graduates having a lack of employable skills.
Whilst the transformation in Further Education funding has increased the focus of universities on employability, this is failing to engage a large number of students and provide the personalised support in their moment of need. Many young people are feeling overwhelmed as they take their first steps on their career resulting in high numbers of employees being disengaged and uninspired in their work.
So, who's doing anything about it?
There's a gaping divide in who owns the problem, with employees looking for their employers to take the lead and provide visibility of their future careers options and businesses looking for individuals to take control.
ME+® fills the gap, putting people in control of their own careers and guiding them to achieve their ambitions.

Organizations have invested years in shaping up the leadership behaviors and in building a culture of high performance and a committed workforce. All of this is at stake today, owing to the ongoing pandemic – one of the biggest health crises ever – Covid19, pushing every organization to think differently about their leader behaviors to build a resilient organization, and a thriving culture.
Change management as the name states is the management of change. While transformation is comprehensively changing something. The two efforts are intertwined by change. In order to increase the chances of success when introducing digital transformation, you need to have a strong change management plan.

Digital transformation can be defined as a process whereby an organization shifts their business models, processes, and organizational culture with digital technologies to adapt to changing customer behaviors. They adapt to meet ever-changing customer expectations and engage with consumers in innovative ways. Transformational journeys require acurate assessments, learning, growth, and monitoring of:
1) People and Culture;
2) Capacity and Capabilities;
3) Innovation; and
4) Technology.
Companies are taking a holistic approach to improving employee experience. Forward-thinking organizations know that all facets of the workplace play a role in keeping employees empowered, productive, and happy—from their physical environment, to the technological tools available, to the culture of the organization.
As organizations seek their footing in a turbulent business environment, they require strong leaders at the helm. The rapid changes associated with digital disruption can be disorienting, so many of us assume the leadership handbook must be completely rewritten for the digital age.
Is it possible the leadership challenges of the digital world are more the same than different but we are overly focused on what’s different because we are so alarmed by the threats to the status quo?

Artificial intelligence (AI) offers new opportunities to radically reinvent the way we do business. This study explores how CEOs and top decision makers around the world are responding to the transformative potential of AI.
The case study discusses the potential of drone delivery and the challenges that need to be addressed before it becomes widespread.
Key takeaways:
Drone delivery is in its early stages: Amazon's trial in the UK demonstrates the potential for faster deliveries, but it's still limited by regulations and technology.
Regulations are a major hurdle: Safety concerns around drone collisions with airplanes and people have led to restrictions on flight height and location.
Other challenges exist: Who will use drone delivery the most? Is it cost-effective compared to traditional delivery trucks?
Discussion questions:
Managerial challenges: Integrating drones requires planning for new infrastructure, training staff, and navigating regulations. There are also marketing and recruitment considerations specific to this technology.
External forces vary by country: Regulations, consumer acceptance, and infrastructure all differ between countries.
Demographics matter: Younger generations might be more receptive to drone delivery, while older populations might have concerns.
Stakeholders for Amazon: Customers, regulators, aviation authorities, and competitors are all stakeholders. Regulators likely hold the greatest influence as they determine the feasibility of drone delivery.

8. WORKING IN A DIGITAL ENVIRONMENT THE CHALLENGES
People need a clear understanding of their
preferred type of work and their fit with the
organisations vision and values.
Success requires people with strong
behavioural and relationship skills as well as
a deep understanding of technology.
The digital environment is rapidly changing,
uncertain and ambiguous. People who
thrive on change and can ‘make things
work’ are in high demand.
Digital environments are complex with
multiple projects and interdependencies.
An ability to join new teams (often with
diverse backgrounds and a mix of
employees and contractors) and build
rapport quickly is in demand.
Some IT environments have legacy systems
and legacy mindsets; lacking dynamism,
energy, ambition, diversity and innovation.
People who are able to infect others with
their enthusiasm and passion are highly
sought after.
Technologists are increasingly required to
assess business cases rather than develop
them, requiring a wider understanding of
the business outcomes and stakeholder
management.

16. WHY SHOULD MY ORGANISATION CARE?
Link to video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4WJO5K4Vlsc
[Perhaps include our @WeAreMePlus twitter handle in the opening?]
Good morning.
It’s a pleasure to be here and have the opportunity to discuss with you how digital innovation is shaping how people work, connect, learn, & behave and what the organisational response should be.
I’m Nigel Borowski and I’ve worked in HR in large corporate environment for 20 years and 3 years ago I stepped into consulting with a group called Telos partners.
Telos is made up of experienced business professionals who all share a passion for long term, sustainable success. For individuals and the organisations they work for.
I’ve got a keen personal interest in these [mobile phone] and these [go pro] and how people use them and how they can change people’s behaviour. Over the past two years I’ve been working closely with one of the best digital agencies in London on creating digital tools to do just that.
So, if we’re going to innovate to change people’s behaviours, we need to start at the right place.
It’s not about the technology, it’s about human beings
It’s not about these [mobile phones] per se, it’s about the experiences that can be created through them.
It’s about human experiences.
So, rest easy… we’re on common ground still… I’m addressing the right audience… we’re all experts in human experiences…. Aren’t we?
Let me leave that question hanging and we may come back to it
We’re in a world now of hyper-connectivity, where people are sharing their thoughts, feelings and experiences like never before. So an experience is an increasingly valueable engagement tool.
But with so much information out there, and so much noise, how do you get your voice heard? How do you get your message across? WHO are people most likely to believe?
Their friends who they’re chatting to all the time, or a sales man, or senior management?
The world of work and society in general are changing… You’ll see aspects of this in all of your organisations
The world of work and society in general are changing… You’ll see aspects of this in all of your organisations
So with all this complexity and change going on what does it mean? How do we simplify?
Well, let’s come back to Human Experiences
There are two ways to enhance human experiences
Make those we enjoy better
Make those we don’t less painful
Digital gives us opportunity to do both.
Let me share some examples
In Telos we are now working with Dare to apply this thinking throughout someone’s working life.
Do a detailed analysis of their experience through each career moment.
In today’s world of work these ‘moments’ are occurring with increased regularity
In today’s world of work these ‘moments’ are occurring with increased regularity
Explain about FDM Group’s business model and focus on graduates
A ‘gift’ to employees to show organisation’s commitment to their future development for the enhancement of their career wherever that may take them, rather than company-led for the sole purpose of adding value to the company
By 2025, 75% of the global workforce will be generation Y. They are tomorrow’s leaders and seek companies to work for who are innovative, ethical, forward-thinking and who give them a ‘voice’. Me+ increases commitment, productivity and engagement whilst ensuring employees display the right behaviours to drive the business forward for the future.
Insert ME+ benefits to FDM – present or by video?
So, I hope you’ve enjoyed our input, I’ll leave you with this thought before we open for questions.
All of what we’ve gone through is people innovation.
Innovation is key to success, if only because of how fast technology changes and is adopted
And HR is both the same as it ever was and a lot more
It’s the creation of the experience and the improvement of it
Thanks for listening. I hope we’ve got some time for questions.
[Worth mentioning at the end of the Q&A that you and your colleague João Mendes have to leave the conference just before lunch today, but João will be here again tomorrow. So do look out for him if you have further questions]
