Division And Classification Essay Example
Crafting a division and classification essay can be a challenging task that demands a thoughtful
and systematic approach. The difficulty lies not only in presenting ideas coherently but also in
the meticulous process of categorizing and organizing information.
To begin with, one must thoroughly understand the subject matter and identify distinct
categories that can be logically classified. This requires in-depth research and a keen analytical
mindset. The challenge arises when attempting to strike the right balance between providing
enough detail to support each category and avoiding unnecessary information that could dilute
the main argument.
Moreover, the structure of the essay is crucial. Transitioning smoothly between different
categories while maintaining a cohesive narrative can be daunting. Each section should
contribute to the overall thesis and seamlessly connect with the preceding and succeeding
categories. Striking this balance requires finesse in writing and a clear understanding of the
relationships between various elements.
Another hurdle is the need for a strong thesis statement that not only defines the purpose of the
essay but also guides the classification process. Crafting a concise and effective thesis statement
can be a complex task, as it sets the tone for the entire essay.
Furthermore, selecting the right examples and evidence to support each category is essential.
This involves a careful consideration of relevant details and ensuring that each example
contributes meaningfully to the overall argument. The difficulty lies in avoiding redundancy and
maintaining a high level of engagement for the reader throughout the essay.
In conclusion, writing a division and classification essay demands a combination of analytical
thinking, organizational skills, and effective communication. It is a challenging endeavor that
requires time and dedication to ensure that the final piece is not only informative but also
engaging for the audience.

The Continual Rise Of Online Bingo
Blog 14 The continual rise of online bingo
If I asked you to think about what image summarises bingo, odds are you would
immediately think of the smoke filled bingo halls of the 60s, 70s, 80s, and 90s. For
going on 50 years bingo was a game housed locally and operated on a low level
within small communities. But as time ticked on, the game would evolve, especially
when the invention known as the Internet would come into play. Transforming this
once community housed game into a true global event, online bingo now
dominates the web as far as gambling is concerned. Before you sit down to dab on a
digital ticket or claim a no deposit bingo offer, it is worth taking a look back at what
has brought the game this far. The following address the ... Show more content on

However, as time would pass the young and fresh image it once had would fade. It
seemed that as new and exciting casino games were popularised, bingo would fade in
to the background, with only the loyalists continuing to play. By the 1960s bingo
had become a game well known for its mature audience, which sadly hampered its
progress in the decades to come.
In the 1990s the world as we know it would change, the Internet would arrive and
introduce the era of the information age. The ushering in of this new era would not
only change the way people behave, but it would shake the foundations of the bingo
industry. Taking bingo out of land based halls and putting it online, during the 2000s
online bingo would gain serious momentum thanks to free bing offers. Millions
would migrate to the new format, as its benefits became immediately clear to the
world.
The reason why it has become so popular is because it represented the evolution of
the game. Those who chose to play online were now no longer limited by a small
selection of games, as all the world s variants became within arms reach at new bingo
sites. Not only that, it allowed players to buy tickets from the comfort of their own
home, something that was certainly once thought impossible. Keeping faithful to the
social roots of the game, players can still interact with other players as usual, but now
it can be done without running the risk of missing any numbers at the best bingo sites.

Battle Of Berlin Essay
The Battle of Berlin started in the spring of 1945 during the last days of World War
II and lasted until May 2, 1945.This battle was one of the most impactful battles of
the World War II. The Battle of Berlin was designated the Berlin Strategic Offensive
Operation by the Soviet Union, It was the finals offense of the European Theatre of
World War II. The Battle resulted in many victims from militaries and local
population.
The battle was fought between German Army and the Soviet Army. The Soviet Army
outnumbers the Germans. The Soviet Army had 2,500,000 soldiers, 7,500 aircrafts,
and 6,250 tanks. On the other hand the Germans didn t have as much help as the
Soviet Army did. The Germans had 1,000,000 solders, 2,200 aircraft, and 1,500
tanks. Both Army s had their own commanders. The Soviet Army commander was
Georgy Zhukov but there were commanders under him such as Vasily Chuikov and
Ivan Konev. On the German side their commander was Adolf Hitler and the
commander under him was Gotthand Heinrici and Helmuth Reymann. Heinrici was

Flathead Lake
Situated between Glacier National Park and Flathead Lake, in the northwest corner
of Montana, just west of the Continental Divide, the Flathead Valley is a federally
protected, breathtaking, scenic and recreational treasure. Locals call the valley
Flathead and it is sheltered by the Salish Mountains to the west, and the Whitefish,
Swan and Mission Ranges to the east. The largest natural freshwater lake west of
the Mississippi, Flathead Lake, is responsible for keeping the valley watered.
Kalispell is the largest city in Flathead Valley and a commercial hub, and provides
access to Wild Horse Island State Park.
The earliest inhabitants of northwestern Montana were several Native American
tribes, including the the Flathead (or Salish), Pend d Oreille (or Kalispel), and
Kootenai tribes, who as a result of the Hellgate Treaty of 1855 established the
Flathead Indian Reservation in the lower Flathead Valley. The Kootenai tribes, for
example, carried out much of their activity in the Tobacco Plains area, located along
the Kootenai River. They hunted seasonally at Flathead Lake before 1850, where they

The Confederation of America Essay
The Confederation of America
The band which at present holds us together, by a very feeble thread, will soon be
broken, when anarchy and confusion must ensue. George Washington said this while
describing the current government of the United States. With the ratification of
Maryland on March 1, 1781, the Articles of Confederation went into affect and all
seemed well. Even though the Confederation had many accomplishments, it was
hardly an ideal government. Problems began to arise soon following the enactment of
the Articles. The Confederation lacked adequate powers to deal with interstate issues,
while it lacked ample stature to be of an influence on other nations, making the
Confederation unable to negotiate easily. Financial ... Show more content on

States were agitated by political turmoil over the respective rights and responsibilities
of debtors and creditors. The economic downturn of the mid 1780s and the difficult
lives of farmers made relations between debtors and creditors a major source of
controversy. In Rhode Island, the two parties struggled to control the state
government in annual elections. These struggles resulted in rapidly changing state
laws that slowed interstate commerce. Some states demanded and some achieved the
enactment of paper money laws, which would spur inflation so that debtors could
more easily satisfy the creditors. However, the inflation hurt the creditors bit the value
of the paper money and the stability of interstate transactions. In states where debtors
could not secure relief through politics, they sometimes took arms to defend their
homes against what they deemed to be cruel and heartless creditors and an indifferent
judicial system. One of these rebellions was Shay s Rebellion, which took place in
Western Massachusetts. However, it was not limited to only Massachusetts. Soon
outbreaks of violence ranged from Vermont to Virginia. In the winter of 1787 Shay s
Rebellion was put down, but its lessons and its warnings lingered in the thoughts of
many people. This demonstrated to many Americans the urgent need for a sound,
strong government. The government had little power to deal with
Software And Software Based Systems Testing
Introduction Software and software based systems testing is a technical discipline of
systems engineering. The purpose of software and software based systems testing is
to help the development organization build quality into the software and system
during the life cycle processes and to validate that the quality was achieved. The test
process determines whether the products of a given life cycle activity conform to the
requirements of that activity, and whether the product satisfies its intended use and
user needs. This determination can include inspection, demonstration, analysis, and
testing of software and software based system products. Test activities are performed
in parallel with software and system development, not just at the conclusion of the
development effort. IEEE 829 supports all software life cycle processes, including
acquisition, supply, development, operation, and maintenance. This standard is
compatible with all life cycle models. Not all life cycle models use all of the life
cycle processes listed in this standard. System and software test processes determine
whether the outcomes of a given activity conform to the requirements of that activity
and whether the development product satisfies its intended use and user needs. The
determination may include analysis, demonstration, inspection, and testing of
software products. The user of this standard may invoke those software life cycle
processes and the associated test processes that apply to the project.
Safety First For Other Youth Hockey Ice Hockey
Safety First For Those In Youth Hockey Ice hockey has been around since the late
eighteen hundreds, and it has developed tremendously from then to the present.
Hockey is played by almost everyone; young, old, big, small, boys, girls. The age
group that has been under major controversy is the young players, aging between
twelve and fourteen years old. Prior to 2008 kids ranging in this age were able to
engage in full body contact and body checking, however; the rule was changed so
that kids cannot begin body checking until the age of fifteen. This rule change was
ignited by both doctors and parents that were watching their young playersget
sidelined by both major and minor, head and back injuries. The rule change has
caused much controversy on whether it was effective or just another rule in place
to please the crowd. A strenuous research study was conducted by Carolyn Emery
of the University of Calgary, Alberta, says that it does in fact lessen the possibility
for injury when hitting is introduced at a slightly later age (qtd. in Marcus). Body
checking is a large part of hockey and one of the reasons why an immense number
of people participate in the sport, but USA Hockey made the correct decision when
looking to protect its players by waiting to introduce body checking. Safety should
be the number one concern in any sport; protecting today s players for tomorrow.
Hockey is known for the fast pace and potential for hard hits, but now many are
asking if that is what
Relationship Between Surface Area and Rate Of Reaction
Essay
An Experiment To Investigate The Relationship Between Surface Area and Rate Of
Reaction
Introduction
The rate of reaction (reaction velocity) may be defined as the rate of change of
concentration of a stated reactant or product. The rate of a reaction is found by
measuring the amount of a reactant used up per unit of time or the amount of a
product produced per unit of time. A reaction can be made to go faster or slower by
changing a number of factors. In order for a reaction to occur certain things are
necessary: particles must collide with each other and the collision must have enough
energy for the reaction to occur. If this happens the original bonds are broken and
new bonds are formed so that new products are formed. Successful ... Show more

Also when a collision occurs they have more energy and so are more likely to be
successful in breaking and reforming bonds than when they have less energy and are
moving more slowly. Therefore the rate of the reaction will increase. As a rule of
thumb when the temperature increases by 10C, the rate of the reaction roughly
doubles.
The concentration of the acid The more concentrated the solution, the more particles
of reactant are present in a given volume and the greater the chance of a collision
occurring. In dilute acids, with fewer particles the chance of collisions occurring is
reduced.
Therefore if concentration is increased, the reaction rate also increases. This also
applies in reactions between two gases when increasing the pressure has the same
effect as increasing the concentration. The presence of a catalyst A catalyst
increases the rate of a chemical reaction without itself being used up. Catalysts are
usually transition metals. In the presence of a catalyst, less energy is needed by a
collision in order to be successful. Therefore there are relatively more successful
collisions and so the reaction rate increases. I have decided to investigate how a
change in surface area will affect the rate of the reaction between calcium carbonate
(marble chips) and hydrochloric acid. The word equation for this reaction is:
Calcium + Hydrochloric Carbon + Water + Calcium
Carbonate Acid Dioxide Chloride
CaCO3(s) + 2HCL(aq) = CO2(G) + H2O(l) +
The Role Of Heteronormativity In New Girl
Heteronormativity is when heterosexuality believed to be the only natural norm in
our society for sexual orientation. New Girl , an American sitcom, aired in 2011 on
Fox, follows Jess (Zooey Deschanel) as she lives in a loft in Los Angeles with three
men she meets on Craigslist. The second episode of the second season is what will
be focused on in this essay. During which Jess meets a stranger when he
accidentally mistakes her for his blind date, Nick (Jake Johnson) believes he has
met his future self, and Schmidt (Max Greenfield) tries to make a good impression
on Winston s (Lamorne Morris) mom and sister. The writers of New Girl follow
basic genderroles within the story lines of the television show. The show follows a
heteronormative plot. Through examining New Girl , a viewer can see the issues
arise when considering the portrayal of men and women in media, and
heteronormativity in television shows.
Within television, there is often a sense of heteronormativity that is shown through
heterosexual relationships and a lack of representation of LGBT+ community. While
New Girl has four main characters, all who have active social/sexual lives, all are
interested in the opposite sex. In fact, there is not even talk about any sexual
orientation other than being attracted to the opposite sex. As Jess is juggling two
men interested in her; Schmidt and Nick tell her that there comes a time in every
person s life when for no reason whatsoever they are irresistible to the

Negative Expectations In Society
From the moment we are born our genders have given others a certain expectation
from each and every one of us . Women are usually expected to know how to cook
and clean , to have children and stay home to take care of them , they are to aspire
to be a perfect wife for their future husband . Men are expected to take care of their
family by bringing a good amount of money homeeach day and with that , pay the
bills . Even though most of us probably don t see things like this , maybe some of
our family members still do and they go by these false perceptions that society has
put on all of us since the day we are born . I know that my family does and maybe
yours does too . Speaking from experience I know how tiring it is to hear the same
things being repeated to you almost your whole life or doing things you just don t
wantto do. Many children are raised in a household where they are taught to follow
these expectations created by society , including myself . I have always been told
there is a certain expectation from me as a women that I should get used to
cleaning the house and cooking a meal because if I cant t do those tasks , no man
will want to be with me . Which I find infuriating , i should not be expected to take a
care of another who can take care of themselves and if I were to , it would be my
choice not because i am expected to do so , due to my gender. That doesn t go for just
women, but men too. It s not fair that men are expected to pay for the bills , rent ,

main things in common. The first similarity is, the characters in both try to run the

very paranoid about the hitchhiker popping up somewhere else. Another is, both of
the hitchhiker s that are picked up by the drivers take their shoes off. Both of the
hitchhiker s that are picked up take their shoes off because they were walking too
much and their feet were hurting. Lastly, Ms. Whitney tells them both that the dead.

The Religions Of Afro Brazilian Religions
Throughout this chapter there were eight major woman centered religions discussed.
Afro Brazilian Religions; which seems to incorporate elements of Amerindian
religions, African tribal religions, Catholicism, and Kardecism. Public rituals in
which a female medium would be possessed by spirits was a main feature of this
religion. Black Carib Religion; This religion had some of the same main features as
Afro Brazilian religions such as communicating with spirits and instead of female
mediums contacting the spirits in this case the older women would be the
spiritual leaders. A majority of Black Caribs are Roman Catholics as well. The
next religion discussed was the Burmese Nat Religion; they have a lot of the same
beliefs as the previous two religions. Most rituals were preformed by women and
almost all of the shamans are women. Burmese Nat Religions coexists with
Buddhist Practices. Christian Science was created by Mary Baker Eddy in the
1800s. They basically believe that self healing happens after a balance of prayer
and study. This religion in the most different so far. It doesn t seem to have the
same spiritual beliefs and rituals. Korean Household Religion is where Korean
women give up offerings for the well being of their homes to the gods. They also
call upon female shamans for advice. I ve noticed that so far, Women are expected to
grow spiritually through themselves and they rely on other women for guidance. I
wonder why men and women can grow in spirituality together?

U.S. s Influence on British Cinema Culture Between 1930 and 1980
Britain and America have always had a very close relationship that could have
stemmed from a number of different things. The English discovered America, they
both speak the same language and the fact that America helped Britain in the first
World War may have played an important part in why the two countries are so close.
Due to this close bond or the special relationship between the countries, over time we
have influenced each other endlessly but perhaps none more so than the influence
that America has had over British cinema between the 1930 s and 1980 s.

More British film companies emerged after this act was passed to ensure that they
could meet the requirements. Two companies in particular, British International
Picture and Gaumont Picture Company emerged shortly afterwards to help provide
the required number of British films. As these British films had to be produced by a
British film company, some of them were of low quality because they did not have
funding from America. British films therefore gained a reputation for being of low
quality and generally poor.
However this changed leading up to and during the second World War when
people increasingly went to the cinema to keep spirits high whilst everywhere else
there was devastation. The war became the golden age in British cinema despite
cinemas being closed at first but reopening as a means of escape from life at the
time. The types of film that were shown ranged from comedies to thrillers such as
Alfred Hitchcock s The Thirty Nine Steps. It was during this time that the
government realised how much money could be made in the film industry and
began to put more money towards making and producing films. There were also a
great deal of American films at this time but this was to change after the war. Britain
put a tax on all American films to
Symbols In The Giver By Lois Lowry
It s choice not chance that determines your destiny. Jean Nidetch. Without choice in
one s life, they will never be able to influence what happens in their own life. In The
Giver, the entire community of sameness has the power of choice taken away from
them, this is the future. They aren t allowed to be different from one another or
unique. In Sameness, there are many residential areas, many people, many
occupations, but no difference. In The Giver, Lois Lowryuses the following symbols
to help understand the journey from Sameness Jonastook: Memory of the sled,
Memory of Christmas and family, and Rosemary.

To begin with, Jonas is the character speaking in the quote where he is arguing
about the power of choice. The text states Well...Jonas had to stop and think it
through. If everything s the same, then there aren t any choices! I want to wake up
in the morning and decide things! (Lowry 97). The quote talks about Jonas when
he was complaining to the Giver about not being able to have choices in sameness.
He used that anger and gave himself a choice, to leave or stay in sameness. He
chooses to leave and was able to have a continuous amount of choices after that. He
sometimes chose correctly or incorrectly in his choices. Also, the Giver was
talking about Rosemary in this quote. The text says When the new receiver failed
the memories that she had received were released. They didn t come back to me.
They went... (Lowry 104). The quote talks about when Jones was learning about
Rosemary and what she did from the Giver. Rosemary s choice to be released was
what gave Jonas the urge to leave sameness. Rosemary also ties into why Jonas
made his decision to leave. This is because Jonas and Rosemary both made a similar
decision for the same reason. They both left sameness (in a way) so that the residents
of sameness would receive the memories they were given by the

Education, a system where individuals attain skills, beliefs, values, and habits is,
quite frankly, one of the most important assets in creating a bright strong minded

Walter Moss An Age Of Progress Analysis
Today, most people take electricity for granted, especially in the United States and
other developed countries of the world. According to Walter Moss in his book, An
Age of Progress?, Clashing Twentieth Century Global Forces, during the twentieth
century, perhaps no other technological advancement, even the automobile, affected
the people of the world more than electricity. Electricity would become the
foundation for the development of new technological advancements in industries
such as agriculture, health and science, environment, and technology. Production and
consumption in all these industries would continue to rise throughout the century
with reliance on electricity to flourish.
The widespread use of electricity started towards the end of the nineteenth century. At
first electricity, both in the United States and abroad, was used primarily for lighting
streets, operating public transit, and by stores, restaurants, and other commercial and
industrial enterprises. The use of oil and candles were still the typical way many

For example, in Asia cereal production doubled between 1970 and 1975, yet the

laws like the Clean Water Act of 1972 that took steps to insure the increased use of

Biography of Musician Lou Reed
My mother was born in 1950 in Brooklyn; she grew up with Beatle mania and after
medical school moved to Greenwich Village to live amongst the beatniks. Thus,
growing up listening to The Beatles, The Who, and The Rolling Stones, I knew one
thing to be true: rock n roll. These bands have been decisive parts of my transition
to adulthood and have followed me throughout my life, coming in and out like
crashing waves. I have spent months listening solely to The Beatles in awe of their
virtuosity, hoping it will transfer to me. When I moved home back from South
Carolina at the end of this summer, I began to have a profound re obsession with The
Velvet Underground. It seems everyone has their story about how this band has
influenced them, for me it was a few bars into Rock Roll. I listened as a young girl to
Lou Reeds lyrics: She started shakin to that fine fine music, You know her life was
saved by rock n roll. And I too, felt I found my salvation. The day Lou Reed died
my heart dropped. Sure, many of the idols in my record crate have come and gone
(Harrison, Hendrix, Cobain), but this felt different. I never experienced the actual
pain of their death as it had already happen when I begun to listen to their music.

Essay On Antidepressants
People who experience depression can often find relief in taking antidepressants. An
antidepressant affects the way the brain passes neurotransmitters, which include,
serotonin, dopamine, and norepinephrine, to the different nerve cells in the brain. A
study published in Current Biology found that antidepressants change the way the
braincells communicate with one another in as little as a day. It s common, however,
for it to take weeks before patients notice a difference in their depression symptoms.
Understanding the different ways that antidepressants affect the neurotransmitters can
help patients get the relief they need.

mood and alleviate depression by increasing the communication of serotonin and

Cymbalta (duloxetine) can improve mood, sleep and nervousness in patients who
take it. Additionally, people who experience nerve pain are also prescribed Cymbalta
to alleviate their symptoms. Dizziness and lightheadedness are common side effects
of Cymbalta that often go away once it is taken regularly.
Pristiq (desvenlafaxine succinate) is available as a tablet. It helps to improve mood,

Jimmy Carter Panama Canal
Jimmy Carter was the thirty ninth president of the United States covering the years
of 1977 to 1980. He maintained a military that took away all of the national wealth
which protected corporate wealth and power (Zinn, Ch. 21). As Zinn states, the
Panama Canal during the Panama Canal treaty saved American companies $1.5
billion a year in delivery costs, and the United Statescollected $150 million a year in
tolls, out of which it paid the Panama government $2.3 million dollars, while
maintaining fourteen military bases in the area. This shows just how much of the
people s money went straight to the military, whether the people wanted their money
to be used that way or not, the government could do what they wanted with their
money as they... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He was part of the Democratic Party and had different policies than President
Ronald Reagan and George W. Bush. Carter was in favor of conservative domestic
and foreign policies. The Reagan administration took a directly anti communist
stance towards the Soviet Union. After Carter stepped down from office, Reagan
took his place as president, then there was Bush. Bush was very proud of his
signing of the Clean Air Act of 990 therefore calling him the environmental
president. Little money was set aside for enforcement. While Reagan built up
military, he tried to pay for this with cuts in benefits for the poor. There would be
$140 billion of cuts in social programs through 1984 and an increase of $181 billion
for defense in the same period. He also proposed tax cuts, but insisted he would still
balance the budget because the tax cuts would so stimulate the economy as to
generate new revenue.
The policies got worse over time by increasing the military budget, cutting benefits to
poor people, lowering taxes for wealthy, filling the federal court system with
conservative judges, actively working to destroy revolutionary movements in the
Caribbean. Corporate America became the greatest successor of the Reagan Bush
years. Their concern

Taxation Of The United States
Tax is an amount of money that a government requires people to pay according to
their income, the value of their property and that is used to pay for the things done
by the government. It is a charge usually of money imposed by authority on persons
or property for public purposes. According to random history website, the history of
taxation in the United Statesbegins with the colonial protest against British taxation
policy in the 1760s, leading to the American Revolution. The independent nation
collected taxes on imports (tariffs), whiskey, and (for a while) on glass windows.
Taxation started to help pay for Civil War in the U.S in July 1861. In 1913, before
the start of WWI the current income taxsystem was turn in to law and at the same
time federal form 1040 was introduce. Every U.S citizens and permanent residents
with a net income of $3000 or more are required for file tax returns. Tax returns it
is important that a taxpayer identifies the tax form that best suits their needs in
terms of financial and legal conditions. Filing the correct form will ensure that the
IRS works on the taxpayers tax returns in a timely and accurate manner (Perez)
Some of the widely used tax forms for filing income tax for individuals are
1040EZ, 1040 A and the 1040. Taxes influence both individuals and economy as a
whole. Main sources of the tax receipts are individual and corporate income. No
matter whether we are rich or poor, we always like to reduce our tax. Furthermore,

an elastic product price change causes a big change in quantity demanded. An
example of an elastic product is restaurant meals. This is because there are many
substitutes good; instead of a person going out to eat, can make a meal at home.
Inelasticity is 1. For an inelastic product price change causes a small change in

are essential and there are no substitutes. After you finished reading the chapter

Blade Runner Symbolism
Blade Runner
The Blade Runner is a unique film that has a strong use of color throughout the
movie the director choses dark colors with high contrast of lighting to give people
a sense of the black and white films. He also used colorless scenes to give the
audience more of the old movie feel. For example, when the main character would
go into Bradbury building it is black and white, and even when lighting is flashing in
the building it looks almost colorless. It is also done to help draw attention to what is
important at that very moment. When Decker was in the building the light would flash
at him to draw the eye to what will happen to him or to show that something
important is about to happen. The color and the arrangement of people walking

Homor Language And Its Benefits Of Humor And Language
Humor and Language Humor is elusive, inexplicable phenomena, often the best
medicine for our psychological problems and issues. Humor language is rarely
discussed; we will explore later on the reasons why humor is avoided in schools,
the types of humor and its benefits. At times we overlook humor as an important
element in teaching and using it as a tool to contribute to a positive environment
for learning, humor for some is considered to be synonyms of disorder and chaos. I

The writer of the article Benefits of Humor (n.d), states that studies by Fabio Sala at
the Hay Group have shown that humor, when used skillfully, reduces hostility,
improves morale, and helps to communicate difficult messages. Other research done
by three experts showed that humor makes the target person want to listen more,
makes the information more memorable, distracts the person from thinking about
counter arguments and it builds rapport and liking of the humorist. Most importantly,
humor makes people healthier, on both physical and psychological level. Health
wise, it lowers the blood pressure, improves breathing and strengthens the immune
system and exercises the muscles. On the psychological base, humor distracts one
from negative emotions, increases and boosts the energy, and it just makes us feel
better and more connected to others. As cited in this article, humor also breaks
through barriers laughter, can transcend age, race, gender and belief. Therefore,
humor is a great tool employed to get closer to others, and communicate in a more

Women In Mary Shelley s Frankenstein
In Mary Shelley s Frankenstein, all of the female characters are unassertive. Their
personalities are one dimensional, and they never try to take control of their own
situations. This characterization seems antithetical to how Mary Shelley, the
daughter of a renowned feminist, and an active feminist herself, usually portrayed
females in her works. I will argue that by portraying all of her female characters as
weak, Shelley is actually criticizing the gender norms of her society, which exalted
the meek and timid housewife. She implies that if women do not play an active
control in the lives of their family, conflict, within one s self and against others, will
become a lot more common. The 19th century was a period of flux for women s
rights.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By creating a new creature he pushes himself into a role that is traditionally
reserved for females. He does this because he believes that he can fulfill the role of
a caregiver better than women can. Victor wants to be able to teach his creations, a
role reserved for fathers during this time period, but also birth them, as only a
mother can. He himself says a new species would bless me as their creator and their
source [of knowledge] (Shelley 54). Women, in Victor Frankensteins mind, could
never take the role of the teacher because that role involves an active participation
in a child s development, a trait absent from the women of his life. The fact that
Victor wishes to create a being of gigantic stature (Shelley 54) who also has a
happy and excellent nature (Shelley 54) shows that he believes that men, in
concert with the power of science, can create beings stronger and more moral than
the creatures that nature can create. He describes his work as pursuing nature to
her hiding places (Shelley 55), a metaphor for uncovering the secrets of the
feminine nature through science. Victor even professes a wish to renew life
(Shelley 56), to create life in a way that nature cannot, further cementing the idea
foundation for his idea to create a new creature is his belief that man can create
things mother nature cannot. The passivity expected from the female gender during
his time period leads Victor Frankenstein to believe that women do not play an
important role in the development of life, as the women in his life did not play an
active role in his own development. Therefore, Victor believes that if man can create
life he does not need a woman to help the child
The Separate Lives Analysis
Distancing oneself from culture allows for new roles or new dynamics to take
place. In Middlesex, the first place the siblings give way to their feelings are when
the Greek are retreating, a symbol of their culture departing, ultimately allowing
Lefty and Desdemona to have a more intimate relationship. They both put on a
show for the other passengers since their arrival onto the ship, acting like they met
for the first time, they had fabricated memory, improvised fate (Eugenides 68).

could feel the wrongness of what they were doing and how it was easier to pretend

Despite being second cousins, there is an attraction between the two. Milton

After a broken engagement and Milton going off to the war, Tessie chose Milton and
got married; seemingly unaware of the past intermarriage. Smuggling is mentioned
and much like incest it is a social and cultural taboo, it also is something that is done
in secret, underground for decades only to reappear when everyone has forgotten
about it , meaning that with each successive generation its potential negative effects
are left in the dust (71). All of this ultimately leads up to Cal, who is a hermaphrodite,
a sexual hybrid, and an ethnic hybrid too. We see Cal in a constant battle with self
doubt at every turn due to his parents and grandparents choices, who care too late
about the consequences of their actions. Bhugra and Becker in Migration, Cultural
Bereavement, and Cultural Identity , focus on the mental and emotional effects of
assimilation. Specifically, loss of culture which leads to self esteem issues, which
can cause isolation as we can see in Middlesex. The family does not venture too far
from each other, socially, which is a factor of the intermarrying and lack of their
culture. Also, alienation is shown through Cal s social life. Negative effects occur

A Pilot Study Of Polybrominated Flame Retardents On...
Abstract
This paper reports the results of a pilot study of polybrominated flame retardents in
household dust collected for a small sample of households in Plymouth. It finds
significant levels of pentaBDE especially in bedrooms. The most likely cause is the
continued use of pentaBDE within polyurethane foam in mattresses and other
bedroom furniture, in spite of the ban by the European Court of Justice in 2004.
Further work is called for in order to examine whether this reflects the widespread
continued use of mattresses and furniture bought before 2004. A larger sample size is
envisaged, including more detail on the nature and age of furniture and upholstery in
households.
Introduction
The indoor environment is where human beings spend most of their time, whether at
home or at work, resulting in a high level of exposure to dust. Dust is a heterogeneous
assortment of particles derived from differing sources which include trace metals and
chemical congeners. In 2004 Polybrominated diphenyl ether (PBDEs) pentaBDE and
octaBDE were banned by the European court of Justice. Although decaBDE is still
used in the North American market in residential upholstered furniture and
mattresses. (Chao, et. al. 2014) Polybrominated diphenyl ether (PBDEs) have been
extensively used as flame retardants for highly flammable consumer goods
throughout homes, cars and workplaces. (Webster, et. al. 2015) PBDEs are a class of
brominated flame retardants that have been found in humans and wildlife

Region VI Needs Assessment
In order to provide an effective policy Region VI will need to create a needs
assessment. A needs assessment is a major component of the stages of planning, it is
used to collect data about the health problems of a particular group, which can be
used to tailor the health program to the needs of that group (Issel, 2014). It identifies
the strengths, resources available and disparities in the community. It assesses the
capabilities of the community and its residents, agencies, and organizations (Issel,
2014). The needs assessment also includes a target audience. The target audience can
be a group, a community, a neighborhood or a complete population (Issel, 2014).
Region VI s target audience will be the population of Black and Hispanic women.

Do Public Subsidies For Professional Athletic...
Do public subsidies for professional athletic organizations benefit their local
community?
Sports teams, or professional athletic organization, are extremely important
institutions within a city or region. They can help connect people with places, and
through this loyalty, a sense of civic pride can be seen. Furthermore, the multi billion
dollar industry sports produces effects that can impact individuals and communities.
In recent years dozens of new sports stadiums have been built throughout the country,
with major funding coming from public subsidies. The aim of this paper is to analyze
the positive and negative impacts that come with these subsidies.
The issue at hand, however, is that power has shifted from the cities to the teams
themselves. Professional athletic organizations have started taking advantage of cities
by threatening to relocate unless they get public subsidies for expensive stadium
renovations and construction. With this in mind it is imperative to ask today s
question: Do public subsidies for professional athletic organizations benefit their
local community? The way I plan on conducting research is through a literary
analysis, as I am a high school student with very few resources to gather large
amounts of primary data. The types of literature that will be in this paper will include
studies, meta analysis, news articles, and magazine articles. By gathering this
information, I will be more equipped to conduct more intensive research in the

Physical Changes Of Aging Research Paper
As we get older we go through physical changes such as our voice, our mobility, our
vision, our hearing, and our balance which are just a few physical changes that
occur. But one change that many of us, especially women, dread about as we age
is our appearance. As we get older our skin loses cells, collagen, fat and the elastin
fibers that make our skin texture smooth and supple, thus creating visible changes
such as wrinkles, crow s feet around the eyes, dark circles, sagging skin, hallowing
of the cheeks, frown lines, and the drooping angle of our mouths. Our appearance,
especially the way our face looks like, is something every woman, young and old,
stresses about. Women, and men too, want to stay and look young forever. In
western culture and around the world beauty is defined by the media and its
various platforms. When we see in the media older celebrities such as Halle Barry,
Catherine Zeta Jones, Jennifer Lopez, Angelina Jolie and various other beautiful
celebrities we are conditioned to think that this is what aging looks like and what
we should be striving for. There is a social pressure that is created because of this. As
we age, our appearance is... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, for a person that smokes, they can change that bad habit for exercise
or a hobby etc. Making good lifestyle choices like not smoking, exercising regularly,
managing their diet and staying active will greatly improve the quality of life in old
age. In doing so, that individual would have aged gracefully and successfully. One
does not need to be young to make lifestyle changes. Young and old can make these
changes at any time. It is never too late to choose to change and improve the quality
of your life and live out our lives aging gracefully, happily and
The Controversial Queen Mary I Queen Of England
Mary I Queen of England was a very controversial queen. She is remembered for
the prosecutions she set in place against the people of Protestant faith. When in
fact Mary I Queen of England was a good queen that suffered many hardships
through her early childhood, her fight for the crown, and even her life during her
reign. Mary s early childhood came with a mix of emotions from her father, King
Henry VIII. Mary was the first child to King Henry, he was very happy when she
was born in 1516 even though she was a girl. To show how much Henry loved
Mary he appointed four people from his staff to simple rock her cradle when she
was sleeping, along with other extravagant gifts, even though at the time Henry had
been hoping for a boy to take over... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When the body notices the changes it will interpret it as a real pregnancy and will
start to release hormones familiar with pregnancy, making you believe you are
pregnant. New research is starting to show that a women with many relationship
problems can be at a higher risk to have a phantom pregnancy. This is a good
explanation as to why Queen Mary had at least two phantom pregnancies. She had
such a complicated relationship with her father, and she was in great need for an
heir to the throne, she could have convinced herself she was pregnant. She also
had a very complicated relationship with her husband, who only came to England
when he had to. He was not in love with Mary like she was in love with him. He
was very unpopular in England and he knew no one liked him. The people knew
that a relationship with Spain meant war with France, and England did not want
that. Mary s emotions controlled her political obligations, knowing she should
have chosen another husband to avoid war with France, but her feelings for Philip
overtook her control. While she was in the midst of her phantom pregnancies, May
was still trying to restore the Catholic faith in England. Mary believed that the way
to do this was to charge the Protestant rulers with crimes and burn them at the stake.
As a result over 300 people were burned at the stake, she also had to take care of the
people who tried to keep her off the throne in the beginning. In January 155 John
Hooper, John Rogers and John Cardmaster, were arrested and burned at the stake
after refusing to stop their crimes against the crown. She did however find Jane
Grey guilty of treason but refused to kill her, instead she was kept in a tower until
her death. After she heard that there was an attempt to place her sister Elizabeth on
the throne, Mary arrested Elizabeth and placed her at Woodstock. She was in
disgrace with the queen until April 1555 when Mary wanted
The Present and Past Five Years of My Life
The Present and Past Five Years of my Life
Throughout a young adult s life there are many things that can drastically change in
five year time period. In fact, I believed to be the age of twenty three years old
waiting to see what the world is about. Like many young adults planning for the
future perhaps I can characterize my myself at twenty three irresponsible individual
with any goals set for my future . As for my present age of twenty seven, I feel like a
mature butterfly sprung with wings of eagerness and wanting to complete goals.
Therefore, the transformation I ve made in five year period reflected on a more
stability lifestyle and engaged me to continue my education journey.
Being the age of twenty three was like a sixteen old teen driving their parent s
wild. My everyday ambition was to hang out with friends and party all most every
night. Since I was unable to afford a place of my own ,I was living under my parent
s roof without the expense of paying bills. My job at the moment was a part time
child care assistance which the pay rate was horrible with any benefits to take care
of myself. Sarcastically I felt like I couldn t even afford to pay my cellphone bill
with the expense of my check, so I had to little odds and ends jobs to get me by. As
for my dating life ironically was another story, I was pretty much dating scumbags
who totally got me grey hairs at an early age. I really wanted to settle with an
individual but it didn t work out. Better
Gone With the Wind Essay
Gone with the Wind, was published in May 1936. The author, Atlanta born,
Margaret Mitchell won the Pulitzer Prize in 1937 for her efforts. The novel was
the first and only published novel of her career. Miss Mitchell was a storyteller
from the time she could speak. She enjoyed writing stories and plays. She would
cast herself and her friends in the different roles. She lived in Atlanta all of her life
and she was enchanted in the history of the city. Miss Mitchell was influenced by
the stories told to her as she spent her childhood sitting on the laps of Civil War
veterans and of her mother s relatives, who told stories of the American Civil Warand
the Reconstruction of the South. She was an old soul at heart and enjoyed the... Show

Selling over thirty million copies, it is the best selling novel of the twentieth century.
In fact, it was so popular it was translated in roughly forty languages and published in
fifty different countries. In the seventy five years since its publication, the novel has
achieved the status of an epic. The only book that has sold more copies than Gone
With the Windis the Bible. It is a masterpiece of American literature, and highly
suggested to those who enjoy Civil War fiction because of its historical
accurateness. Mitchell once wrote the following about her novel. Despite its
length and many details it is basically just a simple yarn of fairly simple people.
There s no fine writing, there s no philosophizing, there is a minimum of
description, there are no grandiose thoughts, there are no hidden meanings, no
symbolism, nothing sensational. The novel is the basis of the exceptionally
admired Academy Award winning 1939 film of the same name. The film rights
were acquired to the novel in July, 1936 for fifty thousand dollars. That was a
record amount for a novel from an unknown author. Once the film was released the
novel had surpassed one half million copies sold. Additional records were set when
the movie had its first air date on television in two parts in 1976. It was restored and
released in theaters in

Electrical Components and Circuits
Purpose: The objective of this experiment was to analyze light and its relationship
between energy and color of the light producing that energy. We also were in charge
of measuring the rate at which evaporation occurs for rubbing alcohol depending on
the different colored diodes.
Materials:
* LEDs and circuits (from previous lab) * Pipette (or eyedropper) * Rubbing alcohol
* Index card * 9 volt battery * Flashlight * Stopwatch * Small cardboard shoe box
Procedure:
1. Set up an Excel spreadsheet listing variables: evaporation time vs. frequency of
LED. 2. Make a three sided enclosure from the cardboard box. This ... Show more

We were asked to look up the frequency of the different colored diodes and the
results are presented in a graph.
Results:
After plotting the graph to determine the relationship of evaporation rate and
frequency of LED, it seemed that the lower the frequency, the less time it took for the
alcohol to evaporate. Although, the green LED bulb was an outlier, the rest of the
values (on average) met this relationship.
Conclusion:
The theory behind this experiment was to use previous learning of light and
frequency to determine how fast alcohol evaporates when certain colored lights shine
on it. The wavelength and frequency of light are inversely proportional, and
wavelength decreases from red to violet. The goal is to investigate the relationship
between the frequency of light (color) and the energy produced by different colors of
light. The relationship is proportional, as discovered by this activity, and the larger
the frequency (such as blue), the longer it takes for the alcohol to evaporate.
The results of the experiment produced known errors. Since we were told to make
10 trials, I decided to do 12. Many of the times, the lights would flicker or not light
up completely, especially when working with the green. This is probably why my
results produced varied numbers, and why the green LED light was an outlier with
the average evaporation time. Some of the times, I accidentally dropped one too
many drops of alcohol, but I started over and
Marketing and Overall Communications Objectives
Integrated Marketing Communications Plan Outline
1.0 Executive Summary The executive summary is an important piece to your IMC
Plan. Often, CEO s will not take the time to read all of the details of the plan, so this
particular part of the plan should be a one page summary of the goals, execution plan,
and potential results. 2.0 Marketing Communications Objectives The marketing
communications objectives set the tone for the whole plan. They should be specific,
measurable, and used throughout the rest of plan so that all of the tools are aligned
to enhance the overall goals. The Marketing Communications objectives should also
be bereft of any ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
10.0 New Media New media is growing and must be developed to reach consumers
where they are networking. Blogs, Vlogs, Podcasting, Mobile Marketing, Display
Ads, and Social Networks can all be strategically used to help you accomplish
communications objectives, but the plan must identify how. 11.0 Consumer
Promotions Consumer promotions can generate engagement, but a discussion about
what fits with the big idea and the brand message should be performed. What are
the objectives, how will it be measured, and will you do a sweepstake event, or
contest? Also, another media discussion should be opened, as promotions can
happen in stores, online, at experiential events, and on the phone. 12.0 Budget The
budget is quite important, as the details of how and when the money will be spent
need to be understood so that the reader can know where the money is going. A
suggestion is to develop a spreadsheet by month by medium and time (month, week,
quarter) that will allow for dollar placement in each specific cell to make it easy for
the reader to understand the complete picture. 13.0 Measurement and Evaluation All

Division And Classification Essay Example.pdf

  • 1. Division And Classification Essay Example Crafting a division and classification essay can be a challenging task that demands a thoughtful and systematic approach. The difficulty lies not only in presenting ideas coherently but also in the meticulous process of categorizing and organizing information. To begin with, one must thoroughly understand the subject matter and identify distinct categories that can be logically classified. This requires in-depth research and a keen analytical mindset. The challenge arises when attempting to strike the right balance between providing enough detail to support each category and avoiding unnecessary information that could dilute the main argument. Moreover, the structure of the essay is crucial. Transitioning smoothly between different categories while maintaining a cohesive narrative can be daunting. Each section should contribute to the overall thesis and seamlessly connect with the preceding and succeeding categories. Striking this balance requires finesse in writing and a clear understanding of the relationships between various elements. Another hurdle is the need for a strong thesis statement that not only defines the purpose of the essay but also guides the classification process. Crafting a concise and effective thesis statement can be a complex task, as it sets the tone for the entire essay. Furthermore, selecting the right examples and evidence to support each category is essential. This involves a careful consideration of relevant details and ensuring that each example contributes meaningfully to the overall argument. The difficulty lies in avoiding redundancy and maintaining a high level of engagement for the reader throughout the essay. In conclusion, writing a division and classification essay demands a combination of analytical thinking, organizational skills, and effective communication. It is a challenging endeavor that requires time and dedication to ensure that the final piece is not only informative but also engaging for the audience. The Continual Rise Of Online Bingo Blog 14 The continual rise of online bingo If I asked you to think about what image summarises bingo, odds are you would immediately think of the smoke filled bingo halls of the 60s, 70s, 80s, and 90s. For going on 50 years bingo was a game housed locally and operated on a low level within small communities. But as time ticked on, the game would evolve, especially when the invention known as the Internet would come into play. Transforming this once community housed game into a true global event, online bingo now dominates the web as far as gambling is concerned. Before you sit down to dab on a digital ticket or claim a no deposit bingo offer, it is worth taking a look back at what has brought the game this far. The following address the ... It seemed that as new and exciting casino games were popularised, bingo would fade in to the background, with only the loyalists continuing to play. By the 1960s bingo had become a game well known for its mature audience, which sadly hampered its progress in the decades to come. In the 1990s the world as we know it would change, the Internet would arrive and introduce the era of the information age. The ushering in of this new era would not only change the way people behave, but it would shake the foundations of the bingo industry. Taking bingo out of land based halls and putting it online, during the 2000s online bingo would gain serious momentum thanks to free bing offers. Millions would migrate to the new format, as its benefits became immediately clear to the world. The reason why it has become so popular is because it represented the evolution of the game. Those who chose to play online were now no longer limited by a small selection of games, as all the world s variants became within arms reach at new bingo sites. Not only that, it allowed players to buy tickets from the comfort of their own home, something that was certainly once thought impossible. Keeping faithful to the social roots of the game, players can still interact with other players as usual, but now it can be done without running the risk of missing any numbers at the best bingo sites. The Confederation of America Essay The Confederation of America The band which at present holds us together, by a very feeble thread, will soon be broken, when anarchy and confusion must ensue. George Washington said this while describing the current government of the United States. With the ratification of Maryland on March 1, 1781, the Articles of Confederation went into affect and all seemed well. Even though the Confederation had many accomplishments, it was hardly an ideal government. Problems began to arise soon following the enactment of the Articles. The economic downturn of the mid 1780s and the difficult lives of farmers made relations between debtors and creditors a major source of controversy. In Rhode Island, the two parties struggled to control the state government in annual elections. These struggles resulted in rapidly changing state laws that slowed interstate commerce. Some states demanded and some achieved the enactment of paper money laws, which would spur inflation so that debtors could more easily satisfy the creditors. However, the inflation hurt the creditors bit the value of the paper money and the stability of interstate transactions. In states where debtors could not secure relief through politics, they sometimes took arms to defend their homes against what they deemed to be cruel and heartless creditors and an indifferent judicial system. One of these rebellions was Shay s Rebellion, which took place in Western Massachusetts. However, it was not limited to only Massachusetts. Soon outbreaks of violence ranged from Vermont to Virginia. In the winter of 1787 Shay s Rebellion was put down, but its lessons and its warnings lingered in the thoughts of many people. This demonstrated to many Americans the urgent need for a sound, strong government. The government had little power to deal with
  • 6. Software And Software Based Systems Testing Introduction Software and software based systems testing is a technical discipline of systems engineering. The purpose of software and software based systems testing is to help the development organization build quality into the software and system during the life cycle processes and to validate that the quality was achieved. The test process determines whether the products of a given life cycle activity conform to the requirements of that activity, and whether the product satisfies its intended use and user needs. This determination can include inspection, demonstration, analysis, and testing of software and software based system products. Test activities are performed in parallel with software and system development, not just at the conclusion of the development effort. IEEE 829 supports all software life cycle processes, including acquisition, supply, development, operation, and maintenance. This standard is compatible with all life cycle models. Not all life cycle models use all of the life cycle processes listed in this standard. System and software test processes determine whether the outcomes of a given activity conform to the requirements of that activity and whether the development product satisfies its intended use and user needs. The determination may include analysis, demonstration, inspection, and testing of software products. The user of this standard may invoke those software life cycle processes and the associated test processes that apply to the project.

Safety First For Other Youth Hockey Ice Hockey Safety First For Those In Youth Hockey Ice hockey has been around since the late eighteen hundreds, and it has developed tremendously from then to the present. Hockey is played by almost everyone; young, old, big, small, boys, girls. The age group that has been under major controversy is the young players, aging between twelve and fourteen years old. Prior to 2008 kids ranging in this age were able to engage in full body contact and body checking, however; the rule was changed so that kids cannot begin body checking until the age of fifteen. This rule change was ignited by both doctors and parents that were watching their young playersget sidelined by both major and minor, head and back injuries. The rule change has caused much controversy on whether it was effective or just another rule in place to please the crowd. A strenuous research study was conducted by Carolyn Emery of the University of Calgary, Alberta, says that it does in fact lessen the possibility for injury when hitting is introduced at a slightly later age (qtd. in Marcus). Body checking is a large part of hockey and one of the reasons why an immense number of people participate in the sport, but USA Hockey made the correct decision when looking to protect its players by waiting to introduce body checking. Safety should be the number one concern in any sport; protecting today s players for tomorrow. Hockey is known for the fast pace and potential for hard hits, but now many are asking if that is what
  • 8. Relationship Between Surface Area and Rate Of Reaction Essay An Experiment To Investigate The Relationship Between Surface Area and Rate Of Reaction Introduction The rate of reaction (reaction velocity) may be defined as the rate of change of concentration of a stated reactant or product. The rate of a reaction is found by measuring the amount of a reactant used up per unit of time or the amount of a product produced per unit of time. A reaction can be made to go faster or slower by changing a number of factors. In order for a reaction to occur certain things are necessary: particles must collide with each other and the collision must have enough energy for the reaction to occur. If this happens the original bonds are broken and new bonds are formed so that new products are formed. Successful ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Also when a collision occurs they have more energy and so are more likely to be successful in breaking and reforming bonds than when they have less energy and are moving more slowly. Therefore the rate of the reaction will increase. As a rule of thumb when the temperature increases by 10C, the rate of the reaction roughly doubles. The concentration of the acid The more concentrated the solution, the more particles of reactant are present in a given volume and the greater the chance of a collision occurring. In dilute acids, with fewer particles the chance of collisions occurring is reduced. Therefore if concentration is increased, the reaction rate also increases. This also applies in reactions between two gases when increasing the pressure has the same effect as increasing the concentration. The presence of a catalyst A catalyst increases the rate of a chemical reaction without itself being used up. Catalysts are usually transition metals. In the presence of a catalyst, less energy is needed by a collision in order to be successful. Therefore there are relatively more successful collisions and so the reaction rate increases. I have decided to investigate how a change in surface area will affect the rate of the reaction between calcium carbonate (marble chips) and hydrochloric acid. The word equation for this reaction is: Calcium + Hydrochloric Carbon + Water + Calcium Carbonate Acid Dioxide Chloride CaCO3(s) + 2HCL(aq) = CO2(G) + H2O(l) +

Through examining New Girl , a viewer can see the issues arise when considering the portrayal of men and women in media, and heteronormativity in television shows. Within television, there is often a sense of heteronormativity that is shown through heterosexual relationships and a lack of representation of LGBT+ community. While New Girl has four main characters, all who have active social/sexual lives, all are interested in the opposite sex. In fact, there is not even talk about any sexual orientation other than being attracted to the opposite sex. Men are expected to take care of their family by bringing a good amount of money homeeach day and with that , pay the bills . I have always been told there is a certain expectation from me as a women that I should get used to cleaning the house and cooking a meal because if I cant t do those tasks , no man will want to be with me . Bush was very proud of his signing of the Clean Air Act of 990 therefore calling him the environmental president. Little money was set aside for enforcement. While Reagan built up military, he tried to pay for this with cuts in benefits for the poor. There would be $140 billion of cuts in social programs through 1984 and an increase of $181 billion for defense in the same period. He also proposed tax cuts, but insisted he would still balance the budget because the tax cuts would so stimulate the economy as to generate new revenue. The policies got worse over time by increasing the military budget, cutting benefits to poor people, lowering taxes for wealthy, filling the federal court system with conservative judges, actively working to destroy revolutionary movements in the Caribbean. Corporate America became the greatest successor of the Reagan Bush years. Their concern

  • 30. Women In Mary Shelley s Frankenstein In Mary Shelley s Frankenstein, all of the female characters are unassertive. Their personalities are one dimensional, and they never try to take control of their own situations. This characterization seems antithetical to how Mary Shelley, the daughter of a renowned feminist, and an active feminist herself, usually portrayed females in her works. I will argue that by portraying all of her female characters as weak, Shelley is actually criticizing the gender norms of her society, which exalted the meek and timid housewife. She implies that if women do not play an active control in the lives of their family, conflict, within one s self and against others, will become a lot more common. The 19th century was a period of flux for women s rights.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... By creating a new creature he pushes himself into a role that is traditionally reserved for females. He does this because he believes that he can fulfill the role of a caregiver better than women can. Victor wants to be able to teach his creations, a role reserved for fathers during this time period, but also birth them, as only a mother can. He himself says a new species would bless me as their creator and their source [of knowledge] (Shelley 54). Women, in Victor Frankensteins mind, could never take the role of the teacher because that role involves an active participation in a child s development, a trait absent from the women of his life. The fact that Victor wishes to create a being of gigantic stature (Shelley 54) who also has a happy and excellent nature (Shelley 54) shows that he believes that men, in concert with the power of science, can create beings stronger and more moral than the creatures that nature can create. He describes his work as pursuing nature to her hiding places (Shelley 55), a metaphor for uncovering the secrets of the feminine nature through science. Victor even professes a wish to renew life (Shelley 56), to create life in a way that nature cannot, further cementing the idea foundation for his idea to create a new creature is his belief that man can create things mother nature cannot. The passivity expected from the female gender during his time period leads Victor Frankenstein to believe that women do not play an important role in the development of life, as the women in his life did not play an active role in his own development. Therefore, Victor believes that if man can create life he does not need a woman to help the child

In Middlesex, the first place the siblings give way to their feelings are when the Greek are retreating, a symbol of their culture departing, ultimately allowing Lefty and Desdemona to have a more intimate relationship. Abstract This paper reports the results of a pilot study of polybrominated flame retardents in household dust collected for a small sample of households in Plymouth. It finds significant levels of pentaBDE especially in bedrooms. The most likely cause is the continued use of pentaBDE within polyurethane foam in mattresses and other bedroom furniture, in spite of the ban by the European Court of Justice in 2004. Further work is called for in order to examine whether this reflects the widespread continued use of mattresses and furniture bought before 2004. A larger sample size is envisaged, including more detail on the nature and age of furniture and upholstery in households. Introduction The indoor environment is where human beings spend most of their time, whether at home or at work, resulting in a high level of exposure to dust. Dust is a heterogeneous assortment of particles derived from differing sources which include trace metals and chemical congeners. Mary s emotions controlled her political obligations, knowing she should have chosen another husband to avoid war with France, but her feelings for Philip overtook her control. While she was in the midst of her phantom pregnancies, May was still trying to restore the Catholic faith in England. Mary believed that the way to do this was to charge the Protestant rulers with crimes and burn them at the stake. As a result over 300 people were burned at the stake, she also had to take care of the people who tried to keep her off the throne in the beginning. In January 155 John Hooper, John Rogers and John Cardmaster, were arrested and burned at the stake after refusing to stop their crimes against the crown. She did however find Jane Grey guilty of treason but refused to kill her, instead she was kept in a tower until her death. After she heard that there was an attempt to place her sister Elizabeth on the throne, Mary arrested Elizabeth and placed her at Woodstock. She was in disgrace with the queen until April 1555 when Mary wanted
  • 43. The Present and Past Five Years of My Life The Present and Past Five Years of my Life Throughout a young adult s life there are many things that can drastically change in five year time period. In fact, I believed to be the age of twenty three years old waiting to see what the world is about. Like many young adults planning for the future perhaps I can characterize my myself at twenty three irresponsible individual with any goals set for my future . As for my present age of twenty seven, I feel like a mature butterfly sprung with wings of eagerness and wanting to complete goals. Therefore, the transformation I ve made in five year period reflected on a more stability lifestyle and engaged me to continue my education journey. Being the age of twenty three was like a sixteen old teen driving their parent s wild. My everyday ambition was to hang out with friends and party all most every night. Since I was unable to afford a place of my own ,I was living under my parent s roof without the expense of paying bills. My job at the moment was a part time child care assistance which the pay rate was horrible with any benefits to take care of myself. Sarcastically I felt like I couldn t even afford to pay my cellphone bill with the expense of my check, so I had to little odds and ends jobs to get me by. As for my dating life ironically was another story, I was pretty much dating scumbags who totally got me grey hairs at an early age. I really wanted to settle with an individual but it didn t work out. Better
  • 44. Gone With the Wind Essay Gone with the Wind, was published in May 1936. The author, Atlanta born, Margaret Mitchell won the Pulitzer Prize in 1937 for her efforts. The novel was the first and only published novel of her career. Miss Mitchell was a storyteller from the time she could speak. She enjoyed writing stories and plays. She would cast herself and her friends in the different roles. She lived in Atlanta all of her life and she was enchanted in the history of the city. Miss Mitchell was influenced by the stories told to her as she spent her childhood sitting on the laps of Civil War veterans and of her mother s relatives, who told stories of the American Civil Warand the Reconstruction of the South. She was an old soul at heart and enjoyed the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Selling over thirty million copies, it is the best selling novel of the twentieth century. In fact, it was so popular it was translated in roughly forty languages and published in fifty different countries. In the seventy five years since its publication, the novel has achieved the status of an epic. The only book that has sold more copies than Gone With the Windis the Bible. It is a masterpiece of American literature, and highly suggested to those who enjoy Civil War fiction because of its historical accurateness. Mitchell once wrote the following about her novel. Despite its length and many details it is basically just a simple yarn of fairly simple people. There s no fine writing, there s no philosophizing, there is a minimum of description, there are no grandiose thoughts, there are no hidden meanings, no symbolism, nothing sensational. The novel is the basis of the exceptionally admired Academy Award winning 1939 film of the same name. The film rights were acquired to the novel in July, 1936 for fifty thousand dollars. That was a record amount for a novel from an unknown author. Once the film was released the novel had surpassed one half million copies sold. Additional records were set when the movie had its first air date on television in two parts in 1976. It was restored and released in theaters in

Lab 10 Lindsay Bingham PHY101 18801 8/19/2013 Electrical Components and Circuits Purpose: The objective of this experiment was to analyze light and its relationship between energy and color of the light producing that energy. We also were in charge of measuring the rate at which evaporation occurs for rubbing alcohol depending on the different colored diodes. Materials: * LEDs and circuits (from previous lab) * Pipette (or eyedropper) * Rubbing alcohol * Index card * 9 volt battery * Flashlight * Stopwatch * Small cardboard shoe box Procedure: 1. Set up an Excel spreadsheet listing variables: evaporation time vs. frequency of LED. 2. Make a three sided enclosure from the cardboard box. This ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We were asked to look up the frequency of the different colored diodes and the results are presented in a graph. Results: After plotting the graph to determine the relationship of evaporation rate and frequency of LED, it seemed that the lower the frequency, the less time it took for the alcohol to evaporate. Although, the green LED bulb was an outlier, the rest of the values (on average) met this relationship. Conclusion: The theory behind this experiment was to use previous learning of light and frequency to determine how fast alcohol evaporates when certain colored lights shine on it. The wavelength and frequency of light are inversely proportional, and wavelength decreases from red to violet. The goal is to investigate the relationship between the frequency of light (color) and the energy produced by different colors of light. The relationship is proportional, as discovered by this activity, and the larger the frequency (such as blue), the longer it takes for the alcohol to evaporate. The results of the experiment produced known errors. Since we were told to make 10 trials, I decided to do 12. Many of the times, the lights would flicker or not light up completely, especially when working with the green. This is probably why my results produced varied numbers, and why the green LED light was an outlier with the average evaporation time. Some of the times, I accidentally dropped one too many drops of alcohol, but I started over and

Often, CEO s will not take the time to read all of the details of the plan, so this particular part of the plan should be a one page summary of the goals, execution plan, and potential results. 2.0 Marketing Communications Objectives The marketing communications objectives set the tone for the whole plan. They should be specific, measurable, and used throughout the rest of plan so that all of the tools are aligned to enhance the overall goals. The Marketing Communications objectives should also be bereft of any ... Blogs, Vlogs, Podcasting, Mobile Marketing, Display Ads, and Social Networks can all be strategically used to help you accomplish communications objectives, but the plan must identify how. 11.0 Consumer Promotions Consumer promotions can generate engagement, but a discussion about what fits with the big idea and the brand message should be performed. What are the objectives, how will it be measured, and will you do a sweepstake event, or contest? Also, another media discussion should be opened, as promotions can happen in stores, online, at experiential events, and on the phone. 12.0 Budget The budget is quite important, as the details of how and when the money will be spent need to be understood so that the reader can know where the money is going. A suggestion is to develop a spreadsheet by month by medium and time (month, week, quarter) that will allow for dollar placement in each specific cell to make it easy for the reader to understand the complete picture. 13.0 Measurement and Evaluation All of the
