BACKGROUND
Rosseti (formerly IDGC Holding) is the largest power
company in Russia. The company comprises interregional
and regional distribution grid companies, research
and development institutes, design and construction
institutes, and construction and sales entities.
Rosseti decided that in order to improve business transparency
and corporate planning it needed to implement a more robust
corporate portal.
RESULTS
•	 7X reduction in data collection and reporting labor cost
within the first few months of use.
•	 3X reduction in data entry work.
•	 Multidimensional data analysis now achievable.
Rosseti and GMCS (a subsidiary of MAYKOR) continue
to be partners.

A POWERHOUSE
As the largest power company in Russia, Rosseti’s operations
comprised of power grid facilities, regional and interregional
distribution grid companies, research and design institutes,
construction and sales organizations. Altogether, Rosseti has
44 joint-stock subsidiaries and affiliates including interests
in 11 IDGCs, 5 RDGCs and backbone grid companies located in
73 regions across the Russian Federation. The controlling
shareholder is the government, which owns 85.3% of shares.
A PHASED APPROACH
The contractor selection process was an open RFP one
and the chosen platform was IBM Cognos, which has a wide
range of analytical capabilities including analysis of any
data combination for any time period. Rosseti chose GMCS
(a subsidiary of MAYKOR) to implement the project since GMCS
has experience in building complex integrated solutions based
on IBM Cognos for large companies. The deployment of the system
functionalities was implemented in stages. In the first phase,
the portal was implemented for the following departments:
MRO, personnel management, property management, tariff,
procurement, information technology and organizational
development. After the first phase, the portal had around 600
users. The pilot solution for the information and analytical portal
then also added investment programs management and capital
construction departments. At this stage, the number of users
grew to about 1,500 and shortly thereafter reached over 2,000.

A PHASED APPROACH
A key feature of the project is the analytical information interface
GMCS had designed for functional unit managers that allowed
them to run multivariate analysis. In addition, mapping panels
were developed for comparative analysis (benchmarking) using
indicators from subsidiaries, affiliates and branches that reflect
the geographic structure of the company (Fig. 1).

Through the use of panels, Rosseti can not only track and analyze
the progress of key performance indicators, but also build
a comprehensive data model that taps into data from various
functional areas in its geographically distributed structure.

  • 2. BACKGROUND Rosseti (formerly IDGC Holding) is the largest power company in Russia. The company comprises interregional and regional distribution grid companies, research and development institutes, design and construction institutes, and construction and sales entities. Rosseti decided that in order to improve business transparency and corporate planning it needed to implement a more robust corporate portal. RESULTS • 7X reduction in data collection and reporting labor cost within the first few months of use. • 3X reduction in data entry work. • Multidimensional data analysis now achievable. A POWERHOUSE As the largest power company in Russia, Rosseti’s operations comprised of power grid facilities, regional and interregional distribution grid companies, research and design institutes, construction and sales organizations. Altogether, Rosseti has 44 joint-stock subsidiaries and affiliates including interests in 11 IDGCs, 5 RDGCs and backbone grid companies located in 73 regions across the Russian Federation. The controlling shareholder is the government, which owns 85.3% of shares. A PHASED APPROACH The contractor selection process was an open RFP one and the chosen platform was IBM Cognos, which has a wide range of analytical capabilities including analysis of any data combination for any time period. Rosseti chose GMCS (a subsidiary of MAYKOR) to implement the project since GMCS has experience in building complex integrated solutions based on IBM Cognos for large companies. The deployment of the system functionalities was implemented in stages. In the first phase, the portal was implemented for the following departments: MRO, personnel management, property management, tariff, procurement, information technology and organizational development. After the first phase, the portal had around 600 users. The pilot solution for the information and analytical portal then also added investment programs management and capital construction departments.   • 4. A PHASED APPROACH A key feature of the project is the analytical information interface GMCS had designed for functional unit managers that allowed them to run multivariate analysis.
