A Strategic Approach: GenAI in Education
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

- 2. My Mastheads These are my 5 made mastheads
- 3. Genre From a group analysis, people assumed that my genre was hip hop. This is a positive because hip hop is the genre of my magazine and if people can get this from the title then the magazine won’t false advertise. I am happy with the name of my magazine as I now know people can easily guess the genre from the name and this is what I want.
- 4. Which Was The Best? From the group analysis people felt the 2nd and 3rd masthead were the best. People felt the 2nd masthead was the best because of the italic style made it look slick and attractive. Also people felt the 3rd was the best because the bold look would match the genre and look good at the top of the masthead. I feel that the 2nd masthead wouldn’t suit my magazine as the style doesn’t suit the genre and I can agree with the 3rd masthead because the bold style can suit the genre .
- 5. Which is the Worst? The group analysis told me that people felt the 5th masthead was the worst as some of the lettering wasn’t visible due to the effect used and the style doesn’t suit the genre. I agree that the 5th masthead is the worst because the effect used isn’t very good and the style won’t suit a hip hop magazine.
- 6. Conclusion To conclude, I feel that the name works well as it gives the reader an idea of what the genre is. I also feel that the 3rd masthead is the best as the bold style would look good at the top of a magazine, however I would need to add some effects and colours to improve it.
