To obtain a better understanding of the relationship between full-time student employment and grade point average, as well as their time management. Does having a job as a full-time college student affect GPA? Why? How? Problem
Objectives To discover: How many full-time Kennesaw State students currently have a job The average number of hours those full-time students work per week The average GPA for full-time students, for those with a job, as well as for those without a job
Objectives Continued Whether or not there is a relationship between having a job as a full-time student, and academic performance Factors other than GPA that are affected by having a job as a full-time student How students effectively manage their time
Method of Collecting Data We composed a survey with questions we thought would best provide us with the most accurate information pertaining to our research Self-administered surveys Both structured and unstructured questions Thirteen questions total Sample of 50 students
Method of Collecting Data One screening question: Are you a traditional or non-traditional student? Convenience sampling No monetary incentives Nominal, Ordinal, Interval and Ratio data questions
Results Mean GPA- 3.09 Maximum GPA- 4.0 Minimum GPA- 1.80
Results Out of the fifty people surveyed, 62% have a 3.0 and above 36% have between a 2.0 and 2.99 2% have below a 2.0
Results 28 full-time students surveyed currently have a job, while 22 do not

Conclusion The average GPA for students who are employed is  3.109 The average GPA for students who are NOT employed is  3.07 No relation between employment and GPA No relation between hours spent studying and GPA Possible problems: Students not reporting correct information Sample was not large enough
