Market research is a systematic way to gather, evaluate and present it in a form that explains various facts and figures to the business. Collected information acts as a vital tool to have increments in business activities, qualitative work done and improved profits. Any company, whether small scale or large scale, can perform market research before marketing its products or services. It can also be useful when launching a new product or diversifying the business. It is useful as well when a company has to expand its business globally. It avails numerous benefits to the businesses.
Among the different methods of data gathering for research purposes, many researchers due to its various advantages, strengths and benefits prefer the survey method. However, surveys also have their disadvantages and weak points that must be considered.
Advantages of Marketing Surveys

Any company, whether small scale or large scale, can perform market research before selling its products or services. It can also be useful when launching a new product or diversifying the business. It is useful as well when a company has to expand its business globally. It avails numerous benefits to the companies.
Among the different methods of data gathering for research purposes, many researchers due to its various advantages, strengths and benefits prefer the survey method. However, surveys also have their disadvantages and weak points that must be considered.
Online surveys and mobile surveys tend to be the most cost-effective modes of survey research, yet they may not reach those respondents that can only respond using alternate modes. Results of online surveys and mobile surveys may suffer and differ greatly if important respondents are left out of the research. Hard-to-reach respondents may be easier to reach using more traditional methods such as paper surveys or face-to-face interviews. The self-completed postal or mail survey is a recognized form of data collection in marketing research (Dillman 1978). There are well- documented practical problems with this form of data collection: poor response rates, slow response, and manual transcription of data from a hard copy questionnaire to an appropriate statistical analysis tool. Presentation on Data4Impact methodology and results (Workshop in Brussels)Data4Impact
The project team organised a workshop on Data4Impact methodology and indicators on 24 June 2019 at the premises of the Research Executive Agency in Brussels. The goal of this hands-on, interactive workshop was to gather feedback on the chosen methodology, coverage and latency/timeliness of the developed indicators, to maximise the relevance for all stakeholders involved (particularly for funding agencies and policymakers).
This presentation includes the introduction to Data4Impact, presents our conceptual framework, and discusses the development of a series of indicators on the performance and societal impact of 40+ research programmes in the health domain.

Using a Socio-Technical Systems Approach for a Sales Process ImprovementIlia Bider
The paper is an experience report on applying a socio-technical approach to business process improvement. The approach is based on an augmented socio-technical matrix (STS-matrix) that differentiates 4 quadrants of socio-technical system: (1) culture/mind set, (2) type of structure, (3) methods/techniques, and (4) type of technology. It was applied in a study related to knowledge creation and sharing in a sales process in a multinational company. The augmented STS-matrix has been used for both holistic analysis of the situation and developing suggestions for organizational intervention.

In this article we introduce and apply the GOV typology in order to analyze various e-Government tools, websites and interactive methods of the
EU-project “Open Government in Europe”. In many ways these so-called ‘Good Practices’ (GP) are state of the art examples of open data, egovernment
tools and innovative relationships between governments and active citizens in Europe. Rich though the examples may be, comparing and
evaluating them is not easy, while learning from them or using a specific example in one’s own situation is quite difficult. The proposed indicator
GOV, while allowing for three distinct GOV strata, hugely improves the options for meaningful comparison between Good Practices and learning
from them. Furthermore, with the GOV typology we observe a difference between the patterning of Good Practices, mainly found in GOV 1.0 and
GOV 2.0 strata, and the subset of selected ‘Best Practices’, which tend to clustering in the GOV 2.0 and GOV 3.0 strata. Thirdly, due to the GOV
indicator we have a better understanding of the workings of the Good Practices, especially the options of interaction between given GOV strata. The
Dutch GOV 2.0 case “Research on Civic Initiatives, DIY’s & Liability” illustrates such behavior, resulting in additional GOV examples, with clear
indications of push and pull strategies due to attitudes of governments and citizens and thus providing a solid argument for interaction.
Social collaboration is way more than a classic IT project! If proof were needed, then this study provides it. The cultural and organizational environment is key to the success of corresponding initiatives that in many cases are initiated, coordinated, and financed by the divisions or top-level management and only rarely by internal IT. Divisions in the UK have a pioneering position in this context – but not only because they are more open to networking applications, but also because the environment is right. Here rules for the use of networking services are established, employees have a high level of autonomy, and management plays an active role.
Data for Impact - Horizon 2020 project pioneering big data approaches for improved assessment of the societal impact in the health, demographic change and well-being societal challenge at national and EU levels. Data4Impact aspires to develop a set of new indicators for assessing research and innovation performance based on a hands-on and data-driven approach.

Workshop on Research Policy Monitoring in the Era of Open Science and Big Data was a two day event, co-organised by OpenAIRE and Data4Impact, with support of Science Europe. The event explored mechanisms for research policy monitoring and indicators, and how to link these to infrastructure and services. The first day was focused on open science indicators as these emerge from national and EU initiatives, while the second day explored more advanced aspects of indicators for innovation and societal impact.

Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.
