3. Learn about smart sensors.
•A smart sensor is a device that takes input from the physical environment
and uses built in computer resources to perform predefined upon detection
of specific input and then process data before passing it on.
4. Evading Motion Detection
•Motion detectors are devices that respond to changes in electromagnetic or
sound radiation. They can detect movement and then open store doors, Turn
of home intruders.on the lights in public washrooms, or signal the presence
5. Activity 1
•In this activity ,We observed and investigated a commercial motion detector,
Our teacher had placed a motion detector in the classroom,The motion
detector contains a sensor and we predicted how we could move within the
range of this sensor and evade detection
6. Taking a tour of some sensors
•Have you ever heard a car alarm go off in a parking lot of pulled a cord
signal a bus driver to stop at the next corner ? Have you wondered why some
traffic lights turn green only when cars are waiting in front of them?
7. Making a microphone
•Stereo systems are expensive, So would not it be great to be able to build
your own components? Maybe you would rather put together a public
address system to deliver a message to a large, enthusiastic audience, These
projects are too complex to complete in a classroom, However, by
experimenting with a sensitive piezoelectric film called PVDF , you can
design the part of a sound system that converts sound energy into electric
energy------------a microphone.
8. Gather these materials
•1-Two pieces of PVDF film –one flexible and one rigid
•2-elastic substrate (rubber balloon , rubber glove , plastic wrap).
•3-Support for the substrate (A plastic or polystyrene cup) and rubber bands
to secure the substrate .
•4-Speaker with amplifier.
•5-Connecting wires with alligator clips.
•6-Double-stick tape or a glue stick.
•

10. What is the piezo effect
•Piezoelectric Effect is the ability of certain materials to generate an electric charge
in response to applied mechanical stress. The word Piezoelectric is derived from the
Greek piezein, which means to squeeze or press, and piezo, which is Greek for
“push”.
•One of the unique characteristics of the piezoelectric effect is that it is reversible,
meaning that materials exhibiting the direct piezoelectric effect (the generation of
electricity when stress is applied) also exhibit the converse piezoelectric effect (the
generation of stress when an electric field is applied
11. Exploring the piezo effect
•Part A: Building the PVDF monomer
•We used molecular model kits to explore how PVDF is formed from
individual atoms and small molecular units ,We worked in groups to make a
models.
12. Exploring the piezo effect
•Part B: Building a PVDF polymer
•We produced a model of the PVDF polymer using your monomers of part
A
13. Measuring the piezoelectric response
•In this activity, We compared the mechanical stress applied to PVDF film
with the voltage produced, The stress applied by a dropped object and may
be affected by a substrate.
16. Measuring the pyroelectric response
In this activity , we compared the thermal energy applied to PVDF film with
the voltage produced ,our teacher had a selection of objects that vary in their
ability to produce thermal energy , We investigated the relationship between
thestimulus that one of these devices gives to the film and the resulting
response.
17. Our project idea
Electrical car
•Our project is an electric car that turns the heat of the sun and the heat of
the car into electricity, so that the battery is charged, so we use the sun's
energy to charge the car battery instead of gasoline.
18. Benefits and Results
•Benefits
•1-Solve the problem of losing fuel gradually
•2-using the solar energy and heat of the car
•Results
•This product produces friendly fuel for the environment and does not end
up by simple and inexpensive tools
19. Conclusions & Recommendations
•-It is recommended that this product be deployed in all means of
transportation in the future, to use an unfinished and non-polluting fuel for
the environment.
