After logging in Moodle, click on a course. In this case, we click on Demo Course.

There are Blocks on both the left and right sides of the screen. Blocks display the latest or highlighted information, or provide
shortcuts for quick access to different functions of Moodle.

To modify or add a block, click on the Turn editing on button to switch to the editing mode.

In the editing mode, you will see these icons in each block.

To move a block to other positions, click on the arrows to move up , down , left or right

For example, if you click on the “right” arrow in the Activities block,…

the block will be moved to the bottom right hand side of the screen.

If you want to add a block, click on Add... in Blocks at the bottom right corner.

There are different kinds of blocks for you to choose from. In this example, we choose Quickmail.

A Quickmail block will then be added.

If you do not want students to view this block, click on the eye icon.

If you want to delete this block, click on the X icon.

Then the block will be deleted.

You can collapse a block, e.g., Latest News, by clicking on the icon on the top right corner of the block.

The block will then be collapsed and only the header of this block will be shown.

Note that your customized layout will only apply to your own Moodle pages.
It will not affect how the blocks are arranged on other users’ Moodle pages.
