Managing a Teaching Assignment
     PREPARATION PHASE
1. Clearly Define Objectives: Information / Skills / Attitude

    Clarity:
    – helps instructor with presentation design and Evaluation
    – and the participants to follow the presentation


2. Know Your Audiences: Number, age, background, interest, expectations

3. Research Subject: By reading, writing notes and discussion (as much as possible)

4. Organize Material: Proper headings, order, consistency, accuracy

5. Structure Presentation:
     – Introduction:
         • Purpose (reason and scope of knowledge)
         • Outline (syllabus)
         • Procedures (duration, material, exams, discussions, asking questions)
Main Body:
    –   Consistent and easy to follow
    –   One point at a time
    –   Progressive
    –   Examples to clarify concepts
    –   Use of visual aids
Conclusion:
    –   Highlighting key points
    –   Can lead to discussion


6. Prepare Aids Charts & Handouts:
    –   Assist in learning by simplifying, highlighting written material.
    –   Limit number of words


7. Practice: Recording voice, timing pace, speaking clearly and using teaching aids

8. Check Location & Equipment: Seating, lighting, comfort, readiness, tidiness
