1. Making Our Weather Report
In this Presentation I will be
explaining the process me and my
group had to go through in order to
make our Weather Report for our TV
News Programme.

3. Green Screen
• For our weather report we used a green screen
behind the presenter so that when we edit the
weather together we can insert moving images
and symbols to reflect the codes and conventions
of a real weather forecast.
• A green screen is used to get an accurate
surrounding of the space around the presenter
so that none of the graphics that get inserted go
over her.

5. Things to know when recording with a
green screen...
• For a weather forecast the presenter has to use their
imagination and guess as to where their hand needs to
be when saying different words and phrases.
• The presenter has to make sure that they are
constantly on the left hand corner of the screen so that
the audience can view the graphics without struggling.
• Hand gestures and pointing at different things on the
map can be tricky and the presenter has to make sure
that their body is still facing the camera and they are
still looking into the lense as the hand movements are
made.

7. The Midlands Map
• We used a map of The Midlands on our weather report
and it continued to stay there throughout the report as
the presenter speaks about the weather the audience
should expect in certain places and certain times.
• We wanted the image to be simple so that the target
audience can see the areas clear and give them more of
an understanding.
• The colour blue being used on the map also links to
our house style colour and makes our weather report
look more professional and trustworthy.

9. Symbols
• The icons will appear when the presenter says
different things about what type of weather is
going to occur.
• When a band of rain moves across the area the
symbol of rain will appear.
• This allows the audience to have more of an
understanding and people are more likely to be
interested in the weather if they have visuals as
well as listening to the report.

10. Text Strip
• The text strip is to insert certain days and times
that the presenter will speak about.
• It allows people to watch how the days change
compared to the weather.
• The strip is the colours of our logo which fits in
with the brand identity.
• The target audience will be sure of what their
watching through the codes and conventions
such as the colour.
