2. 1. What made it engaging?
The weather presenter made it engaging by letting the viewers have an input on what the weather was
like within their area by taking primary images and presenting it on the news, making It relevant to
the audience. She is had direct communication by looking straight into the camera and having a
professional tone when speaking as she is there to inform the target audience the weathers forecast.
2. At what speed do they convey the message?
Shefali is seen to be talking at a quite fast pace as the weather is only on for a short amount of time
therefore she needs to say all the information to try and not miss anything vital for the target
audience to know. She speaks for approximately two minutes and 22 seconds and within this she
explains the weathers forecast for the next three days.
3. How do they emphasise their point – verbally and physically?
She speaks loud and clear within the time she has and is concise throughout so the target audience
understand her easily. She uses a lot of hand gestures by pointing to certain area and motioning
where the rain will pick up for the audience to know.
4. What do you like about the individuals?
She was friendly by letting the audience engage in the beginning, she was also confident as she knew
what she was saying and didn’t mumble or stammer and she kept it professional by sticking to the
news and gave us any additional information on the wind direction.

6. Weather Report - Language
When the reporter Shefali is speaking, she is speaking directly to the audience by looking
straight into the camera, this is called piece to camera.
A medium long shot has been used so that the reporter is seen and also so that the graphics
can be seen for the audience to follow and look what temperature and what wind direction it
will be on that certain day of the time.
There are shots that are used to illustrate the area in the region and images from the viewers
are used showing a friendly interchange.
Before Shefali informs us about the weather, her and Nick Owen the news presenter are
seen having small talk for him to handover the weather to her and in the end she is handed
back as Nick Owen thanks her.
