I was presenting this presentation in PATW by IET society in seventh semester and got an award also of participation in it. Thanks to sir Nauman and other judges.

3. WHY I CHOOSE
MAGNETISM?
As we know that our daily life concern a lot with
Magnetism from simple compass to heavy machineries.
So I select to discuss Magnetism

4. What is Magnetism?
• An invisible force in nature
• Is the study of magnetic fields and their effects on
different materials.
• A physical phenomenon produced by the motion of
electric charges,
• Which results in attractive and repulsive forces between
different objects.
44/6/2017
5. Law of Magnetism
• Like poles repel each other
• Unlike poles attract each others
54/6/2017
6. What is a Magnet
• Is an object that exhibits a strong magnetic field
and will attract materials like iron to it.
64/6/2017
7. Nature of Magnetism
• Magnetism is due to
spin of electrons within
the atoms.
• Electron is charged
particle as it moves so
created magnetism.
74/6/2017
8. Charles Augustine de Coulomb said;
• The force of attraction/repulsion b/w two magnetic
poles is directly proportional to the strength of the
poles
• And Inversely proportional to the square of the
distance b/w them.
84/6/2017
9. Force of magnetic field
• Magnetic field is the place where magnetic effect is felt.
• Strength of magnetic field depends on magnitude of
charge ‘q’ , velocity ‘v’ and magnetic field ‘B’ and sin
angle b/w direction of ‘v’ and ‘B’.
• They are all directly proportional.

12. Hans Christian Orsted Observed…
• In 1820, Hans Christian
Orsted Observed that electric
current creates magnetic field
124/6/2017
13. First discovery of Michel Faraday
• Michel Faraday discovered after Orsted that a
wire rotates in front of a magnet when current
rotates through the wire.
• Beginning of electric motors.
134/6/2017
14. Second discovery of Michel Faraday
• Moving in and out a
magnetic bar in a coil of
wire creates electric current
in a wire,
• Beginning of Electric Gen.
144/6/2017
16. Some applications are;
• Electric Motors as mechanical outputs
• Electric Generators as electrical outputs
• MRI scans known as Magnetic resonance imaging
• Earphones as metal diaphragms to generate sound
• TV picture controlled by magnet as electron beams
• Computer stored data in magnetic disks
• Even Light travels in the form of electromagnetic waves.

17. SO IT IS POSSIBLE FOR US
TO LIVE TODAY BECAUSE OF
MAGNETISM
Thank you for your attention!
Any questions please?

Editor's Notes
Note: Repelling object must be a magnet while attractive object may be a magnet or magnetic material
