Charlottesville Protests Argument Analysis
Since the beginning of the Internet s birth as ARPANET in 1969, communication
has improved massively. As with all great wonders there comes a cost the Internet
is slowly becoming much more regulated and observed. With the Internet, the
government, whether it be local or national, is slowly progressing towards an
Orwellian future. It is extremely difficult to situate borders for privacy, and that
brings multiple questions to the table. Is it moral to allow people like white
supremacists an unchecked platform to offer their ideas? Is it okay for the
government to censor content it deems immoral? Will observing and profiling people
actually help counter any threat of terrorism? In order for such significant issues to
be dealt with, we the people must learn to adapt.... Show more content on

Within a few weeks after these events, multiple Silicon Valley companies had
employed different methods to remove any mention of the neo Nazi publication The
Daily Stormer. Consequently, Google had chosen to remove any links to the site

supremacist, believes only the hands of the government can actually intervene with
an issue of this scale. Jillian York, director for International Freedom of Expression

people from having a platform should not be discussed at the moment, and on the
contrary, there should be a conversation on who gets to decide that. Silicon Valley

Character Analysis Of Mr. Incredible
However, Mr. Frederickson ignores Russell to continue on trying to navigate it
without him. The purpose behind that is to show some sense of strength, as an old
man he won t exhibit super strength or any sort of power like Mr. Incredible, but
instead he exhibits the old saying that with age comes wisdom; within that scene
that is exactly what strength he is showing. Mr. Frederickson wants to show that
he is strong and capable enough to get there without help. However, as the movie
progresses his vulnerability becomes more visible. The want to show strength and
to appear strong comes from the emasculation of the characters. Mr. Incredible was
this well known superhero that went around saving the city from robbers,
criminals, and other events. However the city soon retired him for the amount of
damage he caused, leading to him having to obtain a real job and provide for a
family. His series of events are Mr. Incredible s emasculation. On the other hand is
Mr. Frederickson, he however was never a superhero or anything of extravagance.
Instead, he was the manin charge of the balloon cart at a zoo. While he wasn t very
exciting in the first place, he had had dreams of being able to retire with his wife at
Paradise Falls. Mr. Frederickson s retirement with his wife never happens sadly. In
fact he wasn t truly ever able to retire. The failure to achieve his dream of retirement
at Paradise Falls is the emasculation of Mr. Frederickson. The failure/emasculation is
also the reason

She expresses her objection to the idea, but she has no choice in the matter. As
they travel about in pursuit of their objective they bicker plenty of times. Agent 99
is upset that Max is leading them even though he has less experience than her. This
leads to a conflict in which they argue about who is the better agent, in which Max
brings up his superior test scores and agent 99 brings up her advanced experience.
Often times Max will reveal a gadget that he has obtained from his friends from
control, Bruce and Lloyd, and after explaining how it works he will mockingly add
a You don t have one of these? Hmm. After having this done to her a couple of
times and getting tired of hearing it, agent 99 gets out her explosive tooth floss,

Devito explains that interpersonal conflict is an inevitable thing and that it can
positive or negative effects (278). Among the negative effects are increased
negative feelings, depleted energy, and possible barriers to greater intimacy. The
positive effects include solving a problem before it has any chances to grow and
avoiding a buildup of hatred towards one s partner. Devito also explains how conflict
can be focused on relationship or content issues (279). Conflict centered on content
will revolve around a physical object like the what to watch on TV or which house to

The country of Croatia is a fairly new country in relation to its development and it is
currently blossoming into a developed country with high economic standards. Croatia
is located in both the Northern and Eastern hemispheres in Southeast Europe. The
countries of Bosnia, Herzegovina, and Slovenia, as well as the Adriatic Sea border it.
According to the 2011 census, the population of Croatia is 4,284,889. The largest

The Military Of The United States
The Military
In today s military, we are experiencing more changes than ever before. The United
States has separated forces, added forces and changed rules and regulations to adapt
with the times. As we grow and advance so does our military. That is part of the
reason they are so great, but it has its downfalls as well. The military is not only
changing the way we operate, but who does the operating, honestly they have their
hand in aspect of life and I will name only a few. They have also made a huge impact
on the economy, gender roles and the controversy between the roles, and they are
taking control in more ways than we think. September 29, 1789, is when the first
official military was created. We already had the Continental Army that had fought
the British in the American Revolution, but this was not an official Army. So in
September of 1789 Congress sat down its first session and established the first
official military and it was passed the last day of its first session. The United States
Air Force became a separate military service September 1947; this is when the
Department of Defense was established (previously known as the National military
Establishment.) The department of Defense was encompassed the Army, Navy, and
the new branch the Air Force. The Air Force Expeditionary Force (AEF) created in
the late 1990s which allowed active duty, reserve, and air National Guard to serve
together; this allowed the forces to join together and complete missions, instead of
Essay on A Short Story About an Evil Barber in Ring...
In Ring Lardner s short story Haircut , the narrator is a straightforward barber, who
goes by the name Whitey. The story is about Whitey tells a customer about the well
liked regular at the local barbershop, Jim Kendell. At first the barber makes it seem
that Jim is a good old fella, but depending on some peoples views, and on Jim s
actions towards people, they will quickly discover that Jim is a selfish jerk. Keeping
this in mind there are two important questions that are brought up throughout the
story, which are if Jim s life actually matter to the town and was Jim an evil person;
personally, I believe that Jim was not a completely evil person and that the town did
not value his life.

Throughout the story when Jim s wife is mention, Whitney would said As I say,
she d of divorced Jim, only she seen that she couldn t support herself and the kids...
However, I believe this wasn t the real reason why Jim s wife wouldn t divorce
him. I think she was afraid of what he would do if she tried, there was cases where
he didn t get he s way he would slash out by playing a cruel joke on someone, and
besides after Jim lost his job with the Carterville people he only did little paid jobs
around town and use the money to buy gin. Whitney mentions that the only reason
why the children didn t starve was, because the stores in town were supporting them;
also Jim s wife was trying to make money by making clothing. Therefore, she wouldn
t divorce him for financially reasons, but for safety of the family.
Now keeping this all in mind, did Jim really matter to the town, or was he just the
town s biggest joke? The conclusion I have about this is that the town was just
keeping Jim around just for the stories, so they would have something to talk
about. There was a man named Hod Meyers who was also known for his jokes
around town, but he wasn t as cruel or as famous as Jim, therefore the town didn t
like Jim solely for him. Also, by the way Whitney talks about Jim at the end of the
story by saying He certainly was a card! Comb it wet or dry? leaves the reader with
the thought that Jim was just another one of Whitney s ways entertain the passers by

1.The Constitution:
a.Provide an introductory paragraph that briefly describes one strength and one
weakness of the U.S. Constitution. There are numerous assets and flaws that have
sustain the Constitution over the years, therefore, that is why it remains steadfast for
over the 225 years and going. I believe one strength the U.S. Constitution is
adaptability because it is a living document, it can adapt to changes made through
amendments and judicial clarification. Therefore, our weakness is that HJR2 (House
Joint Resolution) does not arrange for condensing of the national debt ceiling.
b.Provide a paragraph that recommends one option to maintain the strength and one
to correct the weakness.
One way to continual support with the strength of the Constitution would have is

Universal Declaration Of Rights Was A Consequential
Urge...
I believe the unfolding of human rights development was not only impacted by, but
was a consequential urge of globalization. Despite the fact that humanitarian
agreements already existed before, like the first Geneva Convention adopted in
1864, it was only in the aftermatch of the World War II that the international
community increasingly worried about such issues ( Convention (I) for the
Amelioration of the Condition of the Wounded and Sick in Armed Forces in the
Field. Geneva, 12 August 1949 , n.d.). After the Holocaust, not only the term
genocide was defined by the very first time ( Raphael Lemkin and Creation of the
word Genocide , 2016), but the League of Nations was improved and in 1945 a new
international collaboration was created: The United Nations( History of the United

But only in a couple of years later, in 1948, the Universal Declaration of Rights was
born from one of the United Nations conventions (Universal Declaration of Rights).
The Universal Declaration of Rights settled the ground base for human rights across
the globe, and it was only possible after international collaboration in one of the
institutions that best represents and promotes the globalization process. Therefore,
the link between human rights and the globalization process, in my opinion, is not
only a matter of influence from the later into the former, but a desirable and
inevitable consequence of the

WW1 and the gross domestic product had dropped 40%, and unemployment had

which were $398 million turned into losses of $98 million as prices fell. Farmers
weren t that great during the depression ad the collapse of wheat prices occurred.
By the year 1930 305 of labour force was fired and one fifth of the population

jobs wages fell along with prices. During the impact of the great depressionCanada s

Bend It Like Beckham Analysis
The Effects of Cultural Influences in Bend It Like Beckham .
Bend It Like Beckham. Have you watched this movie before? The film, Bend It Like
Beckham by Gurinder Chadha is the most ever inter cultural conflict movie ever
produced. Even though the film is basically about soccer, the cultural and co cultural
interference overshadow the soccer aspect of the movie. The Characters ambitious
desires were affected by cultural differences because of gender and nationality being
an issue in society when it comes to certain sports. The film also exhibits the
bending of cultural values and mixture of traditional and coexistent ideas. First and
foremost, the movie is about two young females Jessminder Bhamra (Jess) and
Juliette Paxton (Jules) who live with their parents in the middle class neighborhood
in Hounslow London. Jules comes into contact with Jess playing soccer with her
male friends at the park and she introduces Jess to her coach because of her great
performance. Jess and Jules are from the different cultural background but their
interest in soccer playing brought them together due to the co culture they found
themselves in. However, both ladies find themselves in the same predicament where
their mothers disapprove their devotion to playing soccer. The film shows how
cultural clashes made Jess and Jules acted with their mothers (Mrs. Bhamra and Mrs.
Paxton) by becoming hostile and dismissive towards each other. Tension also arises
between the mothers and
Gantt Chart

Still accepted as an important management tool today, it provides a graphic schedule
for the planning and controlling of work, and recording progress towards stages of a
project. The chart has a modern variation, Program Evaluation and Review Technique
(PERT). * Industrial Efficiency: Industrial efficiency can only be produced by the
application of scientific analysis to all aspects of the work in progress. The industrial

Each row of the chart corresponds to an individual machine or operator. These charts
do not indicate which tasks were to be done, however.
A novel method of displaying interdependencies of processes to increase visibility
of production schedules was invented in 1896 by Karol Adamiecki, which was
similar to the one defined by Gantt in 1903. However, Adamiecki did not publish his
works in a language popular in the West; hence Gantt was able to popularize a similar
method, which he developed around the years 1910 1915, and the solution became
attributed to Gantt. With minor modifications, what originated as the Adamiecki s
chart is now more commonly referred to as the Gantt Chart.[11][12]
Gantt Chart
A Gantt chart is a type of bar chart, developed by Henry Gantt in the 1910s, that
illustrates a project schedule. Gantt charts illustrate the start and finish dates of the
terminal elements and summary elements of a project. Terminal elements and
summary elements comprise the work breakdown structure of the project. Some
Gantt charts also show the dependency (i.e. precedence network) relationships
between activities. Gantt charts can be used to show current schedule status using
percent complete shadings and a vertical TODAY line as shown here.
Histrory:
The first known tool of this type was developed in 1896 by Karol Adamiecki, who
called it a harmonogram. Adamiecki published his chart in 1931, however, only in
Polish, which limited both its adoption and
Why Should One Lie Awake Over The Relation Between
Canon...
Why should one lie awake over the relation between canon and creed? The oddity of
this question is the focus of Robert W. Jenson s work, Canon and Creed. Produced
within the Interpretation series that seeks to give resources to the church catholic,
Jenson takes on the burden to show how the two resources of the church are
enmeshed, interpreting and being interpreted by one another. The bewilderment that
many contemporaries have over the interplay between canon and creeed, as Jenson
sees it, has slipped through our grasp, probably causing modern Christianityto lose
other parts of the church s life (2). Before delving into the meat of his book, Jenson
frames the context for the canon and creed by the analogy of the telephone game.
For Jenson, this telephone game is what Christians would say as proclaiming the
Gospel, i.e the message, Jesus is risen . Through the passage of time, the community
that proclaims this message loses its self identity; that is, what brought the
community into existence at first. So, from the early church, they played a kind of
telephone game that came under threat of losing its self identity because the
message began to 1) lose its living memory to its subject and 2) in light of the
glorified Jesus not quickly returning, there was a need for historical continuity (4 5).
Thus, the formation of canon and creed as well as the episcopate by the Spirit s
guidance came about so that the true gospel and institutions might continue to be the

Risk Factors For Hepatocellular Carcinoma
Risk Factors Major risk factors for hepatocellular carcinoma include infection with
HBV or HCV, alcoholic liver disease, and most probably non alcoholic fatty liver
disease. Less common causes include hereditary hemochromatosis, alpha1 antitrypsin
deficiency, autoimmune hepatitis, some porphyrias, and Wilson s disease, aflatoxin
ingestion, exposure to inorganic arsenic through drinking water (Shamseddine et al.,
2009). The distribution of these risk factors among patients with hepatocellular
carcinoma is highly variable, depending on geographic region and race or ethnic

This might also be because of the reason that Ag+ only inhibits ethylene to a certain
extent and also after some time. It can be hypothesized that there is a direct
proportionality between the concentration of Ag+ and ethylene transfer. For example,
it might seem rational that higher concentration of Ag+ can cause a lower chance of
senescence. However, according to the table, this is not the case as it is too ideal. 5
out of 6 groups recorded a note of senescence in Ag+ (0.25mM) solution. Although it
can be argued that the rate of senescence is not as high for other concentrated
solutions, 3 carnations underwent senescence in Ag+ (1.00 mM) solution and only 1
carnation showed senescence in Ag+ (0.50 mM) solution. Therefore, the
concentration of Ag+ does not determine the rate of senescence but rather the

Applying A Notation Involving Subscripts Essay
To allow for generalizations of the simple regression analysis to large numbers of
variables, it is convenient to adopt a notation involving subscripts. It will be
assumed that X1, X2, X3, . . . denote the variables under consideration. Accordingly
X11, X12, X13, . . . will denote the values assumed by the variable X1, and X21,
X22, X23, . . . will denote the values assumed by the variable X2, and so on. With
this notation, a sum such as X21 + X22 +‏ X23 ‏+... +‏X2N could be
written ∑_(j=1)^Nв
–’X_2j , ∑_jв
–’X_2j , or simply ∑в
–’X_2 . When no
ambiguity can result, we use the last notation.
Just like simple regression model, a multivariate regression equation is an equation
for estimating a dependent variable, say X1, from the independent variables X2,
X3, . . . and is called a regression equation of X1 on X2, X3, . . . etc. In functional
notation this is sometimes written briefly as E[X1] = F(X2, X3, . . .) (where E[.]
refers to statistical expectation).
For the case of three variables, the simplest linear regression equation of X1 on X2
and X3 has the form
X_1=b_1.23+b_12.3 X_2+b_13.2 X_3(2.14) where b1.23, b12.3, and b13.2 are
constants. The double subscript in for example b12.3В¬ indicates the coefficient
of the model relating variable 1 to 2 keeping variable 3 constant. If we keep X3
constant in this equation, the graph of X1 versus X2 is a straight line with slope
b12.3. If we keep X2 constant, the graph of X1 versus X3 is a straight line with slope
b13.2. Due to the fact

genetic information for cocoa with the aim of developing trees that could potentially
withstand drought and disease. Mars further stated that its partnership with the
Rainforest Alliance aimed to improve crop yields and ensure best practices by its
farmers to avoid any long term damage to the environment.
Cocoa is farmed on more than 18 million acres of tropical land that may be cultivated
under the shade of native canopy trees. According to Chris Wille of the Rainforest
Alliance, without proper knowledge, skills and training farmers cannot sustain strong
yields. He further stated that the cocoa industry needed to wake up and understand
that they needed to address the supply chain back to the farmers. Mars is committed
to doing this.
Mars states that its long term business depends on a sustainable supply of high
quality cocoa and it is committed to helping cocoa be an environmentally sound
industry at all levels of
Colleges Vs Independent Colleges
According to the latest U.S. Census, 33.4 percent of Americans (just over 105
million people) reported having a bachelors degree; only ten years ago this number
was 28 percent; in 1940, 4.6 percent (Wilson). With this in mind, the importance of
secondary education becomes self evident. Where people decide to obtain their
educationwill ultimately influence the rest of their lives. The common struggle of
choice appears between universities and independent colleges (those not under
authority of universities). Both have upsides and downsides as well as similarities
and differences that can make the choice difficult. An effective way to choose
between attending a universityor college, however, is to consider the focus of the
school, offered programs,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Colleges and universities are largely the same and contain very few differences.
How a student will choose a school will depend on what criterion will they hold. If
they wish to stay in one place throughout their post secondary education, are not
that concerned with tuition, and/ or love social aspects of the college experience ,
a university may be the best bet. If a student is not concerned with moving from
school to school, holds what they pay in high esteem, and/or is not too concerned
with socialization, a college may be the best fit. There may also be a compromise,
where someone gets an under graduate degree from a college, and decides to further
their education at a university. Regardless of where someone decides to take their
education past high school, it is still a win for our country and our global society.
Every waking moment there are more and more people that hold college degrees and
essentially make a further educated society that can continue to
Earl Spencer Eulogy
Standing in front of 2,000 people along with 2.5 billion people watching on TV,
The Earl Spencer delivers the eulogy at the funeral of his beloved sister, Diana, the
Princess of Wales, who died a sudden, tragic death. Through his pain and sorrow,
The Earl Spencer thanks Diana for her lasting impact on her loved ones and the
world. Rather than dwelling on the loss of Diana, The Earl Spencer stays positive
throughout the speech by effectively sharing who Diana was and her impact on her
loved ones and the world. The Earl Spencer appeals to ethos by sharing how well
he knew Diana and why he was chosen to speak in her honor. He was ... The

One tone he maintains throughout the speech is proud. Diana was the every
essence of compassion, of duty, of style, of beauty. The Earl Spencer shares this to
show just how proud he was of Diana and her accomplishments and how Diana s
personality and character impacted the world and those around her. The Earl
Spencer also maintains a grateful tone throughout the speech. Today is our chance
to say thank you for the way you brightened our lives, even though God granted
you but half a life. The Earl Spencer directly thanks Diana in this part of the speech,
but he thanks her indirectly also. We have all despaired at our loss over the past
week and only the strength of the message you gave us through your years of giving
has afforded us the strength to move forward. In this part of the speech, The Earl
Spencer indirectly shows his gratefulness for Diana s impact on her loved ones.
Through the tones that the Earl Spencer demonstrates during his speech, he shares

Writing For A Penny A Word Is Ridiculous
L. Ron Hubbard, the founder of Scientology once said, Writing for a penny a word
is ridiculous. If a man wants to make a million dollars, the best way would be to
start his own religion (Hubbard). Scientology is a relatively new religion compared
to other religions that date back thousands of years.
Scientology is a religion that offers a precise path leading to a complete and certain
understanding of one s true spiritual nature and one s relationship to self, family,
groups, Mankind, all life forms, the material universe, the spiritual universe and the
Supreme Being. (Scientology Beliefs Practices: What is Scientology?)

He then merged the two concepts into something he called dianetics, which is the
Greek word for thought. As he continued to study this he wrote a book called
Dianetics: The Modern Science of Mental Health. Dianetics states that the human
mind has blocks called engrams and by going through a process, which is later to
be called auditing that is very similar to psychoanalysis, a person can be cured of
these mental blocks. Martin Gardner a respected author once stated a treated
patient is then called a clear and that person should then have a higher IQ, should
heal faster, have better eyesight and never get a cold. The clear is, literally a
superman an evolutionary step toward a new species (Martin). Many have
speculated that Hubbard s beliefs are undecidedly similar to some of Hubbard s
science fiction short stories about space and astronauts. In his stories many of the
characters were invincible and their minds had no limits, and according to Hubbard
s new religion one s mind can actually become limitless through the process of
auditing. This brought on many skeptics of the new religion and created a lot of
controversy (L. Ron Hubbard). One of the main parts about being a part of the
Church of Scientology is the auditing process. An auditor audits a preclear to
restore beingness and ability . There are two steps in the auditing process, the first is
to help the preclear rid themselves of spiritual disabilities and the second is to increase

Tackling Conflict and Poor Teamwork Prevention
Ultimately there is no guarantee that we will be able to prevent conflict. The point
was made in the section entitled, What causes conflict? that the complex dynamics
between people in social interaction will inevitably lead to conflict sooner or later.
However, there are steps that we can take to try to keep conflict to a minimum not to
prevent it altogether (as that would clearly be unrealistic), but rather to prevent
certain occurrences at least.
Many conflicts can be seen to arise as a result of a breakdown in communication. A
key issue, therefore, in preventing conflict is the importance of ensuring that
communication takes place as effectively as possible. Conflict frequently ... Show

Conflict is concerned with difference. If we were all the same, then there would be
little or no conflict. However, thankfully we are not all the same, and so part of the
price that we pay for the richness of diversity is that conflicts will arise at certain
times. Conflict can be seen to arise from the incompatibility of aims between
individuals and/or groups that is, what I am trying to achieve and what you are
trying to achieve. If they are significantly different, they can lead us into conflict.
Two main problems can arise there. First, we may feel uneasy about the conflict
and the tensions that it raises, and therefore try to pretend it is not there, to fudge
the issue or brush it under the carpet. This can lead to significant problems in so far
as the situation may be allowed to fester and go on for a much longer period than is
necessary if we are not prepared to deal with it and move on. Second, we may cause
problems by dealing with the conflict in a way which escalates the tensions between
us. For example, rather than deal with any conflicts between us constructively and
amicably, we may use the opportunity to attack one another, thereby leading to
unnecessary additional problems. These, then, are the two main (but not only)
problems associated with conflict: fudging and escalation.
The short answer to the question of what causes conflict is quite simply, life.
Bringing people together in social interaction necessarily involves a set of

Ecological Footprint In Canada
Introduction In order to preserve Canada s natural capital, it is imperative to improve
Canada s ecological footprint. A country s ecological footprint consists of that
country s impact on their environment via their use of resources2. Canada has a small
population which results in a much lower ecological footprint than countries with
bigger populations¬6. Canada s total ecological footprint is 224 global hectares
(gha)6. This is comparable to the United Stateswith a total ecological footprint of 2.3
billion gha, China with 2.9 billion gha and India with 1.1 billion gha6. This does not
mean that Canada is better at preserving natural capital than these other countries6.

One of the largest contributors to a high ecological footprint is related to personal
transportation and the construction, maintenance and operations of buildings3. When
more people are living in an area, the amount of energy and transportation needed
decreases and so does the area s ecological footprint3. This occurs because as
walking increases, the amount of personal driving decreases.
Another way Vancouver is working to reduce its ecological footprint is by
protecting land in the Green Zone 7. About 60% of the region s land is protected7.
This includes agricultural land, watersheds, and natural and recreational areas7.
These Green Zones will limit access and help preserve the region s natural capital.
The David Suzuki Foundation proposed a South Coast Conservation Program in
order to conserve and restore at risk species and ecosystems on the British
Columbia South Coast 9. The projects main focus is to preserve ecosystems and
maintain biodiversity9. These are essential components in improving natural capital.
The Emily Carr University of Art in Design (ECUAD) in Vancouver joined forces
with The David Suzuki Foundation (DSF)10. Their goal was an to provide a natural
capital application as an educational tool to provide data on natural capital have it

Governance and the pharmaceutical system
Pharmaceuticals are a very analytical

health delivery systems and other deliverance that often make a healthy difference for
individuals and an entire population. Access to high quality medicines and other
pharmacy needs is a opaque issue, especially for disadvantage, weak populations.
Despite an effective provide of an international aid, the advent of specialized
agencies and funds (such as the Global financial aid to prevent AIDS, Tuberculosis
and Malaria) and many government supported or donor programs keen to improve
and look towards the broader global pharmaceutical access, still there is a gap
between supplying drugs.
The net worth of global pharmaceutical market is almost figured over US$500

The videos that I had observed was about child language disorder and speech sound

but this was their first group session. The clinician, Molly Berger had worked with
the client individually for a few months. The clinician used a lot of visual supports
during this session. These visuals supports range from readingbooks to pointing at
different items in the class room. The clinician helped the clients read the story. Mr.
Buckendorf also asked the kids to predict different things based on the reading. Ms.
Berger helped her client duplicate sounds that were hard for her client to produce.
There were no major behavior modifications made during the session. The
Earl Warren Accomplishments
Earl Warren was Chief Justice of the Supreme Court from 1953 to 1969. Warren is
best known for his majority decision in the controversial case Brown v. Board of
Education. In this essay, you will learn about Warren life before the Supreme
Court, how Korematsu helped shaped the rest of Earl Warren s career, and his most
important cases. From the age of nine Earl Warren has worked on a railroad crew
to earn money to go to college. Warren attended Kern County high school. There he
gained interest listening to cases in the Kern County courthouse. After high school,
Warren attended UCB s School of law. He received his B.A. degree and his J.D.

Earl Warren arranged the plan that removed about 100,000 people of japanese
descent regardless of citizenship from their homes and placed into internment
camps during World War 2 and kept them there until the war was over. Because of
this thousands of Japanese people lost their jobs and businesses. But At the time he
tried to justify his actions by stating that it was a matter of national defense. In
hindsight, Warren realized that he made a big mistake, and spent the rest of his
career trying to undo the damage he has caused. Earl Warren s determination to
undo his mistakes has led to some important decisions such as Miranda v. Arizona.
In Miranda v. Arizona Ernesto Miranda was arrested and charged for rape,
kidnapping, and robbery. But Miranda was not informed about his rights before he
was interrogated so he confessed to the crime he had done. Miranda was

Themes In All Quiet On The Western Front
Lost Generation on the Western Front In the novel, All Quiet on the Western
Front, Erich Maria Remarque demonstrates, through the character of Paul Baumer,
how World War I was one of the bloodiest wars in history. With more than 18
million deaths and 23 million wounded, it left a lasting memory to many. Most of
these men were young, so many of the men that came back after the war had
mental issues and were lost with society. Such things like Kemmerich s boots, the
red poppies, and the senselessness of the war itself. All of these teenagers that
took on war at a very young age were known in history as the lost generation . In
the beginning of the war, many of these young soldiers including Paul and his
friends did not know what to expect. As the come into camp they notice all the
little things, such as the butterflies, white clouds, the red poppies in the field, and
as the wind plays with our hair (9). The red poppies in the field symbolizes the
bloody mess the great war gave. To what the great war gave, was nothing. These

The first of the Iron Youth to die was Franz Kemmerich. Kemmerich was the one
who had a horrific death, he was shot in the leg and it was amputated. As
Kemmerich s leg lies under a wire basket (14), he still feels the pain in his foot, and
the boys know that he will die or go back home. Muller, a young man a part of the
Iron Youth, is delighted with the sight of Kemmerich s boots that he asks for them,
but Franz is confused because he still is thinking that he is just fine when he is not.
This all meant that even the boots, such a small thing in the war means so much to
them. Having this pair of boots gave these men a sense of hope and that represents

The Most Vital Functions Of The Nervous System
The most vital functions of the nervous system is to provide information about the
occurrence or threat of injury. One of the ways this is done is in form of pain.
However, sometimes, established pain can go beyond its protective role, thus
becoming a disease in itself than just being a symptom. This condition is called
chronic pain. The injury or the precipitating event can be physical (like in case of
phantom limb pain or post surgical pain), infection (as with post herpetic neuralgia),
systemic disease (like with diabetic neuropathy), drug (chemotherapy induced
peripheral neuropathy) or can sometimes be unknown (trigeminal neuralgia, migraine,
cluster headache, etc.) Even today, the pathological processes involved in genesis,
establishment and continuation of such diseases are poorly understood. Eventually,
such painful conditions usually remain refractory to available treatments.
According to International Association for the Study of Pain (IASP), globally, it has
been estimated that 1 in 5 adults suffer from pain and that another 1 in 10 adults are
diagnosed with chronic pain each year. Moreover, according to a recent (2014)
article in the Journal of Pain, chronic pain is the most prevalent and disabling
condition affecting at least 100 million Americans. It is also the most expensive
public health condition with annual cost to society exceeding that of combined costs
of diabetes, cancer, and heart diseases. Then, we have set of diseases that follow
chronic pain. This
The Giver Is Better Than Living In A Utopian Society
The life where nothing was ever unexpected. Or inconvenient. Or unusual. The life
without color, pain,or past. Lois Lowry The Giver. A Utopian society would
benefit the human race better than living in a democratic society. The benefits of
living in a Utopian society would be no poverty, upper class, middle class, lower
class, and there would be no competition. As a result a Utopian society would make
everyday life easier. In the Giver the economy is maintained by the government
which makes everyone equal and no financial issues or debts. The community has
something called a communist economy which is where government owns most
factors of production. In chapters 3 4 of the Giver the announcers say Attention
this is a reminder to male elevens that objects are not to be removed from the
recreation area and that snacks are to be eaten not hoarded . This proves there are
food rations and they only have a certain amount of food at school and in each home.

novel. He is met with different challenges throughout the novel, such as inner and
outer conflicts. He tries to win the woman he loves, but she is in lovewith someone
else. Roxanne thinks she is in love with Christian but all the while it is really
Cyrano she is falling in love with, Roxanne just doesn t know it. Throughout the

him safe. Cyrano agrees to do this because of Roxanne s request of him to do so.
He hides his love for her in protecting Christian. He feels that through him

Optimistic Cyrano responds saying, I ll lend you mine! Lend me your physical

himself he can make her happy my writing love letters to her, having her think they
are from Christian. Angry Roxanne says, it was you! Nervous and confused

Stingray Argumentative Essay

when they bring up racial profiling this same exact argument is used in drones. Can

stingray devices hurt democracy and the law enforcement uses stingray devices
illegally. This is completely false! They gave no evidence to support the idea that
the law enforcement is abusing their power. Therefor, this claim isn t true. We say
that because the Department of JUSTICE now requires warrants for the use of

the law enforcement knows too. They don t break the law when they conduct

that the affirmative is portraying is that they are willing to give up our safety for the
small amount of privacy that we are given. Affirmative brought up racial profiling in
contention two. They proposed the notion that stingray devices help boost the idea of
Process Recommendations And Improvements Of An...
PROCESS RECOMMENDATIONS and IMPROVEMENTS After defining our
standards, measuring the data, and analyzing the information it was time to
improve the products and processes. This was done by assessing the manpower,
materials, methods, meals, and machines related to the process. This tools used in
the analysis were the fishbone and process flow diagrams shown below. Some
concepts on the fishbone diagram are related to the product directly while others are
related to the delivery process, the staff and the physical restaurant. However, all of
the factors relate directly customer satisfaction and an enjoyable dining experience.
In return, this could help them enjoy their fries more. A detailed description of these
aspects will now be discussed, along with how to implement these changes. There are
many possibilities for how materials could be improved. First, tables and chairs
should be maintained at higher standards. This could be improved by setting time
limits on clearing and resetting tables . For example, tables must be cleaned no longer
than two minutes after the customers leave the table . Second, restrooms should be
maintained on routine schedules. For example, staff should inspect restrooms every
30 minutes and sign posted inspection sheets verifying that they were sanitized and
restocked. Furthermore, changing tables, hand sanitizers and baby wipes should be
available in all restrooms. Even music in the restrooms was an added bones. Third,

Characters In Night By Elie Wiesel
Elie Wiesel: Night Character Analysis Essay on Eliezer What would it do to a
person to go to a concentration camp, see the horrible things, and come out alive?
This book, Night, is about Eliezer Wiesel, who is both the main character and the
author. Elie s book is a memorial about his experience in Hitler s concentration
camps, what he went through, and how he survived. This paper is going to be
about Eliezer s horrific experience and the ways that it changed him. One of the
horrific moments that Eliezer went through is the time the small boy got hung
and it took half an hour for him to die. But the third rope was still moving: the
child, too light, was still breathing... And so remained for more than half an hour...
(Weisel 65) This changed him a lot because he knew how brutal the world could
be. It was also when he, along with quite a few others, started to lose faith in God.
Where is merciful God, where is He?... For God s sake, where is God?... Where He
is? This is where hanging here from this gallows... (Weisel 64,65) These things are
said by other random Jews who are watching the scene of the hanging of the little
boy. These people are losing faith in God because they are blaming Him for not
being merciful on the Jews and the little boy. This is one of the most important
parts of the change that Eliezer goes through. Sometimes, he doesn t realize he has
changed until he sees the change in himself. Another important event that Eliezer
went through was the death of his father. I climbed into my bunk, above my father,
who was still alive... (Even if he was, he would be dead soon) His last word had
been my name. He had called out to me and I had not answered. (Weisel 112) He
pretty much watched his father die, and later, he thought: Free at last! (Weisel
112) He felt free from responsibility, rather than mournful of his father s death. This
is when it is revealed that he will lose his father without grieving, if it means he
didn t have to drag him around and have the responsibility. This is not as much a
change as it is a realization of change. He also sees change in others at the camp,
which has a pretty big impact on him. An event very related to his feeling after his
father s death was when he saw
The Spot Of The Corner
The Spot in the Corner Life is made of a huge collection of experiences, whether
good or bad, that leave an impression on oneself. Some of these experiences are
recorded in memory, and others simply forgotten. In any case, all these
experiences take part in a particular place. So, depending on the type of experience,
these specific places acquire some significance. For example, many married
couples can identify the exact location where they decided to join their lives as
well as they can remember exactly where they got the first kiss. All memory has a
context of space and time; for this reason, with the passage of time we can give
more meaning to some places than others. When I was younger, I did not realize
the significance of many places that were an important part of my life until I was
thousands of miles away from them. But I can identify one particular place that
has been connected to my life experiences for a long time. My most significant
place was a corner in the second floor s living room of my house in my hometown
in Bolivia. This particular place marked the changing rhythm of my life, since I
was a little boy until I left my country. In the beginning this place was only one spot
in the west part of a living room that almost never was used. The first time I saw this
spot it was only a boring place with an old bookshelf with four drawers and a picture
hanging on the wall. The first part that caught my attention in that place was just that
picture, which at first

My respondents vary across the boundaries of race and social class. All but one
respondent, are Indian. The other is identifies as a White American. The ratio of
social class is more proportionate with my father and I identifying as middle class
and my mother and friend identifying as part of the poor and working class. Lareau
states that the patterns of family life vary across these two different social classes
identified. He claims that in terms of the organization of daily lives working class
and poor children spend most of their time in informal play, while middle class
children take part in many adult organized activities designed to expand their
individual talents and interests. My collected data was consistent with this claim, as
my mother and friend that fit the poor and working class category spent a limit
amount of time on their restricted choice of leisure activities such as ballet and
fashion designing, due to financial ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The opposite trend however with minimal time on leisure activities such as
television but reading instead and maximum time spent developing skills and
talents was seen in the case of middle class children like my father and me.
However, in my study, I found differences in the organization of daily life only
across social class boundaries and not across racial boundaries of brown and white.
There were no discrepancies in terms of the number of activities across races. These
results contradicted Lareau s where he proved black middle class children had more
activities largely connected to the church than White middle class children. There
was also a disparity in terms of gender and activities for the poor and working class
when compared to the middle class. Respondents of the latter social group, that
involved my mother and friend, tended to be more active in
Analysis Of Walt Whitman s Crossing Brooklyn Ferry
The American Dream establishes a journey to achieve a goal in order to start a new
life. In Crossing Brooklyn Ferry by Walt Whitman, Walt Whitman illustrates the
arrival to endorse a connection with the American future. Therefore, Walt Whitman
conveys the experience of arrival using images to highlight the steps to reach the
American Dream. As a result, the experience of arrival introduces a similar goal
people are trying to achieve, which connects one another. Nevertheless, the people
arriving are individuals who seek and work to find the American Dream and settle to
a new beginning. Thus, to represent the experience of arrival, Walt Whitmanuses the
symbols of the ferry, the natural surroundings and the city of Brooklynto convey the
celebration of the American Dream. The symbol of the ferry represents a journey
to convey the experience of arrival. The ferry represents the arrival to America
because it establishes the beginning and end of a journey. When people leave on a
ferry to travel to a new destination they initially begin a new chapter in their lives.
Therefore, the ferry is a new way to change the perspective of a new world. Cross
from shore to shore, countless crowds of passengers! (103) establishes the
similarities people have of obtaining the same goal. The crowds of people on the
ferry leave their home, to come and search for a new home. Thus, the shore
represents the land where people come from, which they come from different places,
but arrive together
Domestic Violence And Mass Shootings
People assume that the perpetrators of these crimes have a mental illness, but
having a mental illness is not a good predictor of who will commit this kind of
crime. One of the top predictors of impending violent behavior is previous violent
behavior. And a crucial warning sign of someone who might commit a mass shooting
is domestic violence. With that being said, not all mass shooters have committed
domestic violence, but many of them have. An example of a mass shooter who was
domestically violent is Omar Mateen. He was the perpetrator of the anti LGBTQ
mass shooting at the Pulse nightclub in Orlando, Florida. After the event, his ex
wife told the media that he had violently abused her during their brief marriage.
Even though most offenders have been domestically violent, they tend not to have
a criminal history (Crockett, E., 2017). Also, the perpetrators commit these crimes
because of a stressor. This stressor could be as simple as getting laid off and being
rejected by a crush. Some other examples of stressors are getting a divorce, losing a
loved one, or even being bullied (Brown, 2013, p. 452 452).
Mass murders cause the public fear because the public thinks they are unpredictable
and can happen to anyone, but that is not the case. Mass murders are very
predictable. More than half of mass shootings involve an existing or previous
intimate partner or a family member and 81% of the victims are women and children
(Crockett, E., 2017).
There is always a lot of sympathy
The And Non Pharmacy Personnel
and non pharmacy personnel. Officer Hartshorn also suggested placing tape on
doorways to help determine the height of a robber as well as limiting the stock of
controlled substances or to have controlled substances in a locked safe, or otherwise
hard to get to location.2 Time is a robber s worst enemy so implementing ways to
slow down the process may make the robber abort the robbery. According to John
Partridge of the Drug Enforcement Administration, another suggestion is to have
communication with other pharmacies in the area and with local law enforcement in
advance of any robbery or burglary incidents and to invite law enforcement to tour the
pharmacyand offer recommendations on deterring theft.7 Also, make sure there is

If the robber is not wearing a mask, Officer Hartshorn shared that taking note of the
robber s face can be very useful in an investigation.2 However, other schools of
thought on this matter state that it is better to take a submissive stance, not to
look the perpetrator in the eye (i.e., don t stare) and keep eyes down so the robber
will not think s/he can be identified, which could make the situation become deadly.
Using downward directed and peripheral vision to see clothing, shoes, tattoos, a
weapon, and as much of the robber as possible is less likely to escalate the event.7
Some pharmacies have a no escalation policy, encouraging employees to not do
anything that would anger the robber and perhaps make the situation more
dangerous than it already is. In doing so, an employee should be cooperative and
remain calm.7 Officer Hartshorn states that if the robber says s/he has a gun, assume
that to be true.2 Pharmacy employees should not get an attitude, try to be a hero,

My Reflection In Writing
There I heard it; the final whistle blew for full time. We worked so hard all season
long only to collapse in the final few minutes. The Massachusetts State Cup was so
close. We were so close to winning the title, and we blew it. Our team took this
adversity and used it as motivation to work even harder for next semester. Every
practice following that loss was pure intense work. It ended up paying out for us in
the end, with the following season resulting in regaining the premier title of being
state champions. My team ended up working harder, smarter, and betterthan the
opposition, all because of us learning from our mistakes. We took what didn t work
from the last year s catastrophe, and improved upon it. The final product was a well
oiled machine that demolished every team dumb enough to face it. In an albeit less
dramatic fashion, the process of writingshares bountiful similarities with a soccer
tournament such as the ones I went to. During my journey through Writing 104, I
faced several assignments that resulted in not so stellar grades. This reflection
process allows me to go over these mistakes, and share to all how I fixed them into
a much better piece. Writing 104 coached me through many great pieces, and
expanded my knowledge as a writer in so many fields, specifically in writing
effectively, and information literacy. To start off, my time in this class brought many
wonderful moments, allowing me to share my experiences on paper. One such
example was my favorite
Literary Analysis Of The Vine, By Robert Herrick
Robert Herrick, an author from the 17th century enjoyed writing about intimacy
and pleasure within his poems. The poem to be discussed throughout the paper is
The Vine, by Robert Herrick, because of it s rich metaphoric and symbolic aspect
to love, pleasure, and dominance. Essentially the poem, The Vine, as a whole is a
metaphor because the speaker has taken the form of a vine or tendril in the poem.
The poem is about a man actually dreaming of a woman, Lucia. Lucia is referred to
as dainty and the speaker describes her physical characteristics which helps the
reader picture what is happening. Robert Herrick specifically uses certain words to
express his love and feelings for Lucia. The similein the poem that is most
significant in its entirety is And found (ah me!) this flesh of mine/More like a
stock than like a vine (22/23). In these lines, the speaker is waking up from his
sexual dream. The speaker explains that he is feeling more of a stock than a vine.
This is symbolic because the title of the poem is, The Vine, as the speaker has
transformed himself into a vine in his dream. By saying he is feeling more like a
stock can be interpreted as the growth has diminished and he can no longer love
freely for a long time. His love for Lucia is hardening or ending. The physicality of
the stock to a vine can also imply that he is waking up with an erection. The
speaker is turned on by his dream and has woken up with the feeling of pleasure.
These lines are extremely important to the entirety of the poem because it ends with
the speaker waking up from his dream and the reader is aware of how he feels.
The similes in these lines relate to each line of the poem because the last lines are
the speakers waking up from his dream. The speaker begins with his dream just
starting, explaining he has been anticipating this moment. The speaker must have a
fond interest of Lucia because he seems to care about her through the characteristics
he describes her in. The poem begins with the speaker dreaming of being
transformed into a vine, as he is growing and free flowing. The vine is automatically
mentioned because the speaker s love beings to grow for Lucia.
The poem continues to describe Lucia s physical characteristics, as

Conflict is an offensive obstruction of contrasts from two distinct parties on a

  • 2. Charlottesville Protests Argument Analysis Since the beginning of the Internet s birth as ARPANET in 1969, communication has improved massively. As with all great wonders there comes a cost the Internet is slowly becoming much more regulated and observed. With the Internet, the government, whether it be local or national, is slowly progressing towards an Orwellian future. It is extremely difficult to situate borders for privacy, and that brings multiple questions to the table. Is it moral to allow people like white supremacists an unchecked platform to offer their ideas? Is it okay for the government to censor content it deems immoral? Will observing and profiling people actually help counter any threat of terrorism? In order for such significant issues to be dealt with, we the people must learn to adapt.... Richard Spencer, a famous white supremacist, believes only the hands of the government can actually intervene with an issue of this scale. Jillian York, director for International Freedom of Expression at the Electronic Frontier Foundation feels that the morality of preventing certain people from having a platform should not be discussed at the moment, and on the contrary, there should be a conversation on who gets to decide that. Silicon Valley companies must be the party to provide a neutral ground for people across the belief spectrum. • 3. Character Analysis Of Mr. Incredible However, Mr. Frederickson ignores Russell to continue on trying to navigate it without him. The purpose behind that is to show some sense of strength, as an old man he won t exhibit super strength or any sort of power like Mr. Incredible, but instead he exhibits the old saying that with age comes wisdom; within that scene that is exactly what strength he is showing. Mr. Frederickson wants to show that he is strong and capable enough to get there without help. However, as the movie progresses his vulnerability becomes more visible. The want to show strength and to appear strong comes from the emasculation of the characters. Mr. Incredible was this well known superhero that went around saving the city from robbers, criminals, and other events. However the city soon retired him for the amount of damage he caused, leading to him having to obtain a real job and provide for a family. His series of events are Mr. Incredible s emasculation. On the other hand is Mr. Frederickson, he however was never a superhero or anything of extravagance. Instead, he was the manin charge of the balloon cart at a zoo. While he wasn t very exciting in the first place, he had had dreams of being able to retire with his wife at Paradise Falls. Mr. Frederickson s retirement with his wife never happens sadly. In fact he wasn t truly ever able to retire. The failure to achieve his dream of retirement at Paradise Falls is the emasculation of Mr. Frederickson. The failure/emasculation is also the reason

This leads to a conflict in which they argue about who is the better agent, in which Max brings up his superior test scores and agent 99 brings up her advanced experience. Often times Max will reveal a gadget that he has obtained from his friends from control, Bruce and Lloyd, and after explaining how it works he will mockingly add a You don t have one of these? Hmm. After having this done to her a couple of times and getting tired of hearing it, agent 99 gets out her explosive tooth floss, looks at Max, and says in a mocking tone You don t have one of these? Among the negative effects are increased negative feelings, depleted energy, and possible barriers to greater intimacy. The positive effects include solving a problem before it has any chances to grow and avoiding a buildup of hatred towards one s partner. Devito also explains how conflict can be focused on relationship or content issues (279). Conflict centered on content will revolve around a physical object like the what to watch on TV or which house to buy, whereas conflicts centered on relationship

The United States has separated forces, added forces and changed rules and regulations to adapt with the times. As we grow and advance so does our military. That is part of the reason they are so great, but it has its downfalls as well. The military is not only changing the way we operate, but who does the operating, honestly they have their hand in aspect of life and I will name only a few. They have also made a huge impact on the economy, gender roles and the controversy between the roles, and they are taking control in more ways than we think. September 29, 1789, is when the first official military was created. We already had the Continental Army that had fought the British in the American Revolution, but this was not an official Army. So in September of 1789 Congress sat down its first session and established the first official military and it was passed the last day of its first session. The United States Air Force became a separate military service September 1947; this is when the Department of Defense was established (previously known as the National military Establishment.) I think she was afraid of what he would do if she tried, there was cases where he didn t get he s way he would slash out by playing a cruel joke on someone, and besides after Jim lost his job with the Carterville people he only did little paid jobs around town and use the money to buy gin. Whitney mentions that the only reason why the children didn t starve was, because the stores in town were supporting them; also Jim s wife was trying to make money by making clothing. Therefore, she wouldn t divorce him for financially reasons, but for safety of the family. Now keeping this all in mind, did Jim really matter to the town, or was he just the town s biggest joke? The conclusion I have about this is that the town was just keeping Jim around just for the stories, so they would have something to talk about. There was a man named Hod Meyers who was also known for his jokes around town, but he wasn t as cruel or as famous as Jim, therefore the town didn t like Jim solely for him. Also, by the way Whitney talks about Jim at the end of the story by saying He certainly was a card! Despite the fact that humanitarian agreements already existed before, like the first Geneva Convention adopted in 1864, it was only in the aftermatch of the World War II that the international community increasingly worried about such issues ( Convention (I) for the Amelioration of the Condition of the Wounded and Sick in Armed Forces in the Field. However, Adamiecki did not publish his works in a language popular in the West; hence Gantt was able to popularize a similar method, which he developed around the years 1910 1915, and the solution became attributed to Gantt. With minor modifications, what originated as the Adamiecki s chart is now more commonly referred to as the Gantt Chart.[11][12] Gantt Chart A Gantt chart is a type of bar chart, developed by Henry Gantt in the 1910s, that illustrates a project schedule. Gantt charts illustrate the start and finish dates of the terminal elements and summary elements of a project. Jenson s work, Canon and Creed. Produced within the Interpretation series that seeks to give resources to the church catholic, Jenson takes on the burden to show how the two resources of the church are enmeshed, interpreting and being interpreted by one another. The bewilderment that many contemporaries have over the interplay between canon and creeed, as Jenson sees it, has slipped through our grasp, probably causing modern Christianityto lose other parts of the church s life (2). Before delving into the meat of his book, Jenson frames the context for the canon and creed by the analogy of the telephone game. For Jenson, this telephone game is what Christians would say as proclaiming the Gospel, i.e the message, Jesus is risen . Through the passage of time, the community that proclaims this message loses its self identity; that is, what brought the community into existence at first. So, from the early church, they played a kind of telephone game that came under threat of losing its self identity because the message began to 1) lose its living memory to its subject and 2) in light of the glorified Jesus not quickly returning, there was a need for historical continuity (4 5). Thus, the formation of canon and creed as well as the episcopate by the Spirit s guidance came about so that the true gospel and institutions might continue to be the foci

It can be hypothesized that there is a direct proportionality between the concentration of Ag+ and ethylene transfer. However, according to the table, this is not the case as it is too ideal. 5 out of 6 groups recorded a note of senescence in Ag+ (0.25mM) solution. Although it can be argued that the rate of senescence is not as high for other concentrated solutions, 3 carnations underwent senescence in Ag+ (1.00 mM) solution and only 1 carnation showed senescence in Ag+ (0.50 mM) solution. With this notation, a sum such as X21 + X22 +‏ X23 ‏+... +‏X2N could be written ∑_(j=1)^Nв –’X_2j , ∑_jв –’X_2j , or simply ∑⠖’X_2 . When no ambiguity can result, we use the last notation. Just like simple regression model, a multivariate regression equation is an equation for estimating a dependent variable, say X1, from the independent variables X2, X3, . . . and is called a regression equation of X1 on X2, X3, . . . etc. In functional notation this is sometimes written briefly as E[X1] = F(X2, X3, . . .) (where E[.] refers to statistical expectation). For the case of three variables, the simplest linear regression equation of X1 on X2 and X3 has the form X_1=b_1.23+b_12.3 X_2+b_13.2 X_3(2.14) where b1.23, b12.3, and b13.2 are constants. The double subscript in for example b12.3В¬ indicates the coefficient of the model relating variable 1 to 2 keeping variable 3 constant. If we keep X3 constant in this equation, the graph of X1 versus X2 is a straight line with slope b12.3. If we keep X2 constant, the graph of X1 versus X3 is a straight line with slope b13.2. Due to the fact

With this in mind, the importance of secondary education becomes self evident. Where people decide to obtain their educationwill ultimately influence the rest of their lives. The common struggle of choice appears between universities and independent colleges (those not under authority of universities). If a student is not concerned with moving from school to school, holds what they pay in high esteem, and/or is not too concerned with socialization, a college may be the best fit. There may also be a compromise, where someone gets an under graduate degree from a college, and decides to further their education at a university. Regardless of where someone decides to take their education past high school, it is still a win for our country and our global society. Dianetics states that the human mind has blocks called engrams and by going through a process, which is later to be called auditing that is very similar to psychoanalysis, a person can be cured of these mental blocks. Martin Gardner a respected author once stated a treated patient is then called a clear and that person should then have a higher IQ, should heal faster, have better eyesight and never get a cold. The clear is, literally a superman an evolutionary step toward a new species (Martin). Many have speculated that Hubbard s beliefs are undecidedly similar to some of Hubbard s science fiction short stories about space and astronauts. In his stories many of the characters were invincible and their minds had no limits, and according to Hubbard s new religion one s mind can actually become limitless through the process of auditing. This brought on many skeptics of the new religion and created a lot of controversy (L. Ron Hubbard). One of the main parts about being a part of the Church of Scientology is the auditing process. An auditor audits a preclear to restore beingness and ability . There are two steps in the auditing process, the first is to help the preclear rid themselves of spiritual disabilities and the second is to increase
  • 25. Mister Tackling Conflict and Poor Teamwork Prevention Ultimately there is no guarantee that we will be able to prevent conflict. The point was made in the section entitled, What causes conflict? that the complex dynamics between people in social interaction will inevitably lead to conflict sooner or later. However, there are steps that we can take to try to keep conflict to a minimum not to prevent it altogether (as that would clearly be unrealistic), but rather to prevent certain occurrences at least. Many conflicts can be seen to arise as a result of a breakdown in communication. A key issue, therefore, in preventing conflict is the importance of ensuring that communication takes place as effectively as possible. Conflict frequently ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Conflict is concerned with difference. If we were all the same, then there would be little or no conflict. However, thankfully we are not all the same, and so part of the price that we pay for the richness of diversity is that conflicts will arise at certain times. Conflict can be seen to arise from the incompatibility of aims between individuals and/or groups that is, what I am trying to achieve and what you are trying to achieve. If they are significantly different, they can lead us into conflict. Two main problems can arise there. First, we may feel uneasy about the conflict and the tensions that it raises, and therefore try to pretend it is not there, to fudge the issue or brush it under the carpet. This can lead to significant problems in so far as the situation may be allowed to fester and go on for a much longer period than is necessary if we are not prepared to deal with it and move on. Second, we may cause problems by dealing with the conflict in a way which escalates the tensions between us. For example, rather than deal with any conflicts between us constructively and amicably, we may use the opportunity to attack one another, thereby leading to unnecessary additional problems. These, then, are the two main (but not only) problems associated with conflict: fudging and escalation. The short answer to the question of what causes conflict is quite simply, life. Bringing people together in social interaction necessarily involves a set of interpersonal

One of the ways this is done is in form of pain. However, sometimes, established pain can go beyond its protective role, thus becoming a disease in itself than just being a symptom. This condition is called chronic pain. The injury or the precipitating event can be physical (like in case of phantom limb pain or post surgical pain), infection (as with post herpetic neuralgia), systemic disease (like with diabetic neuropathy), drug (chemotherapy induced peripheral neuropathy) or can sometimes be unknown (trigeminal neuralgia, migraine, cluster headache, etc.) Even today, the pathological processes involved in genesis, establishment and continuation of such diseases are poorly understood. Eventually, such painful conditions usually remain refractory to available treatments. According to International Association for the Study of Pain (IASP), globally, it has been estimated that 1 in 5 adults suffer from pain and that another 1 in 10 adults are diagnosed with chronic pain each year. Moreover, according to a recent (2014) article in the Journal of Pain, chronic pain is the most prevalent and disabling condition affecting at least 100 million Americans. Characters In Night By Elie Wiesel Elie Wiesel: Night Character Analysis Essay on Eliezer What would it do to a person to go to a concentration camp, see the horrible things, and come out alive? This book, Night, is about Eliezer Wiesel, who is both the main character and the author. Elie s book is a memorial about his experience in Hitler s concentration camps, what he went through, and how he survived. This paper is going to be about Eliezer s horrific experience and the ways that it changed him. One of the horrific moments that Eliezer went through is the time the small boy got hung and it took half an hour for him to die. But the third rope was still moving: the child, too light, was still breathing... And so remained for more than half an hour... (Weisel 65) This changed him a lot because he knew how brutal the world could be. It was also when he, along with quite a few others, started to lose faith in God. Where is merciful God, where is He?... For God s sake, where is God?... Where He is? This is where hanging here from this gallows... (Weisel 64,65) These things are said by other random Jews who are watching the scene of the hanging of the little boy. These people are losing faith in God because they are blaming Him for not being merciful on the Jews and the little boy. This is one of the most important parts of the change that Eliezer goes through. Sometimes, he doesn t realize he has changed until he sees the change in himself. Another important event that Eliezer went through was the death of his father. I climbed into my bunk, above my father, who was still alive... (Even if he was, he would be dead soon) His last word had been my name. He had called out to me and I had not answered. (Weisel 112) He pretty much watched his father die, and later, he thought: Free at last! (Weisel 112) He felt free from responsibility, rather than mournful of his father s death. This is when it is revealed that he will lose his father without grieving, if it means he didn t have to drag him around and have the responsibility. • 38. The Spot Of The Corner The Spot in the Corner Life is made of a huge collection of experiences, whether good or bad, that leave an impression on oneself. Some of these experiences are recorded in memory, and others simply forgotten. In any case, all these experiences take part in a particular place. So, depending on the type of experience, these specific places acquire some significance. For example, many married couples can identify the exact location where they decided to join their lives as well as they can remember exactly where they got the first kiss. All memory has a context of space and time; for this reason, with the passage of time we can give more meaning to some places than others. When I was younger, I did not realize the significance of many places that were an important part of my life until I was thousands of miles away from them. But I can identify one particular place that has been connected to my life experiences for a long time. My most significant place was a corner in the second floor s living room of my house in my hometown in Bolivia. This particular place marked the changing rhythm of my life, since I was a little boy until I left my country. In the beginning this place was only one spot in the west part of a living room that almost never was used. The first time I saw this spot it was only a boring place with an old bookshelf with four drawers and a picture hanging on the wall. The first part that caught my attention in that place was just that picture, which at first

The ratio of social class is more proportionate with my father and I identifying as middle class and my mother and friend identifying as part of the poor and working class. Lareau states that the patterns of family life vary across these two different social classes identified. He claims that in terms of the organization of daily lives working class and poor children spend most of their time in informal play, while middle class children take part in many adult organized activities designed to expand their individual talents and interests. My collected data was consistent with this claim, as my mother and friend that fit the poor and working class category spent a limit amount of time on their restricted choice of leisure activities such as ballet and fashion designing, due to financial ... The opposite trend however with minimal time on leisure activities such as television but reading instead and maximum time spent developing skills and talents was seen in the case of middle class children like my father and me. However, in my study, I found differences in the organization of daily life only across social class boundaries and not across racial boundaries of brown and white. There were no discrepancies in terms of the number of activities across races. These results contradicted Lareau s where he proved black middle class children had more activities largely connected to the church than White middle class children. There was also a disparity in terms of gender and activities for the poor and working class when compared to the middle class. Respondents of the latter social group, that involved my mother and friend, tended to be more active in
  • 40. Analysis Of Walt Whitman s Crossing Brooklyn Ferry The American Dream establishes a journey to achieve a goal in order to start a new life. In Crossing Brooklyn Ferry by Walt Whitman, Walt Whitman illustrates the arrival to endorse a connection with the American future. Therefore, Walt Whitman conveys the experience of arrival using images to highlight the steps to reach the American Dream. As a result, the experience of arrival introduces a similar goal people are trying to achieve, which connects one another. Nevertheless, the people arriving are individuals who seek and work to find the American Dream and settle to a new beginning. Thus, to represent the experience of arrival, Walt Whitmanuses the symbols of the ferry, the natural surroundings and the city of Brooklynto convey the celebration of the American Dream. The symbol of the ferry represents a journey to convey the experience of arrival. The ferry represents the arrival to America because it establishes the beginning and end of a journey. When people leave on a ferry to travel to a new destination they initially begin a new chapter in their lives. Therefore, the ferry is a new way to change the perspective of a new world. Cross from shore to shore, countless crowds of passengers! (103) establishes the similarities people have of obtaining the same goal. The crowds of people on the ferry leave their home, to come and search for a new home. Thus, the shore represents the land where people come from, which they come from different places, but arrive together
  • 41. Domestic Violence And Mass Shootings People assume that the perpetrators of these crimes have a mental illness, but having a mental illness is not a good predictor of who will commit this kind of crime. One of the top predictors of impending violent behavior is previous violent behavior. And a crucial warning sign of someone who might commit a mass shooting is domestic violence. With that being said, not all mass shooters have committed domestic violence, but many of them have. An example of a mass shooter who was domestically violent is Omar Mateen. He was the perpetrator of the anti LGBTQ mass shooting at the Pulse nightclub in Orlando, Florida. After the event, his ex wife told the media that he had violently abused her during their brief marriage. Even though most offenders have been domestically violent, they tend not to have a criminal history (Crockett, E., 2017). Also, the perpetrators commit these crimes because of a stressor. This stressor could be as simple as getting laid off and being rejected by a crush. Some other examples of stressors are getting a divorce, losing a loved one, or even being bullied (Brown, 2013, p. 452 452). Mass murders cause the public fear because the public thinks they are unpredictable and can happen to anyone, but that is not the case. Mass murders are very predictable. More than half of mass shootings involve an existing or previous intimate partner or a family member and 81% of the victims are women and children (Crockett, E., 2017). There is always a lot of sympathy

According to John Partridge of the Drug Enforcement Administration, another suggestion is to have communication with other pharmacies in the area and with local law enforcement in advance of any robbery or burglary incidents and to invite law enforcement to tour the pharmacyand offer recommendations on deterring theft.7 Also, make sure there is enough... If the robber is not wearing a mask, Officer Hartshorn shared that taking note of the robber s face can be very useful in an investigation.2 However, other schools of thought on this matter state that it is better to take a submissive stance, not to look the perpetrator in the eye (i.e., don t stare) and keep eyes down so the robber will not think s/he can be identified, which could make the situation become deadly. Using downward directed and peripheral vision to see clothing, shoes, tattoos, a weapon, and as much of the robber as possible is less likely to escalate the event.7 Some pharmacies have a no escalation policy, encouraging employees to not do anything that would anger the robber and perhaps make the situation more dangerous than it already is. In doing so, an employee should be cooperative and remain calm.7 Officer Hartshorn states that if the robber says s/he has a gun, assume that to be true.2 Pharmacy employees should not get an attitude, try to be a hero,

  • 44. My Reflection In Writing There I heard it; the final whistle blew for full time. We worked so hard all season long only to collapse in the final few minutes. The Massachusetts State Cup was so close. We were so close to winning the title, and we blew it. Our team took this adversity and used it as motivation to work even harder for next semester. Every practice following that loss was pure intense work. It ended up paying out for us in the end, with the following season resulting in regaining the premier title of being state champions. My team ended up working harder, smarter, and betterthan the opposition, all because of us learning from our mistakes. We took what didn t work from the last year s catastrophe, and improved upon it. The final product was a well oiled machine that demolished every team dumb enough to face it. In an albeit less dramatic fashion, the process of writingshares bountiful similarities with a soccer tournament such as the ones I went to. During my journey through Writing 104, I faced several assignments that resulted in not so stellar grades. This reflection process allows me to go over these mistakes, and share to all how I fixed them into a much better piece. Writing 104 coached me through many great pieces, and expanded my knowledge as a writer in so many fields, specifically in writing effectively, and information literacy. To start off, my time in this class brought many wonderful moments, allowing me to share my experiences on paper. One such example was my favorite
  • 45. Literary Analysis Of The Vine, By Robert Herrick Robert Herrick, an author from the 17th century enjoyed writing about intimacy and pleasure within his poems. The poem to be discussed throughout the paper is The Vine, by Robert Herrick, because of it s rich metaphoric and symbolic aspect to love, pleasure, and dominance. Essentially the poem, The Vine, as a whole is a metaphor because the speaker has taken the form of a vine or tendril in the poem. The poem is about a man actually dreaming of a woman, Lucia. Lucia is referred to as dainty and the speaker describes her physical characteristics which helps the reader picture what is happening. Robert Herrick specifically uses certain words to express his love and feelings for Lucia. The similein the poem that is most significant in its entirety is And found (ah me!) this flesh of mine/More like a stock than like a vine (22/23). In these lines, the speaker is waking up from his sexual dream. The speaker explains that he is feeling more of a stock than a vine. This is symbolic because the title of the poem is, The Vine, as the speaker has transformed himself into a vine in his dream. By saying he is feeling more like a stock can be interpreted as the growth has diminished and he can no longer love freely for a long time. His love for Lucia is hardening or ending. The physicality of the stock to a vine can also imply that he is waking up with an erection. The speaker is turned on by his dream and has woken up with the feeling of pleasure. These lines are extremely important to the entirety of the poem because it ends with the speaker waking up from his dream and the reader is aware of how he feels. The similes in these lines relate to each line of the poem because the last lines are the speakers waking up from his dream. The speaker begins with his dream just starting, explaining he has been anticipating this moment. The speaker must have a fond interest of Lucia because he seems to care about her through the characteristics he describes her in. The poem begins with the speaker dreaming of being transformed into a vine, as he is growing and free flowing. The vine is automatically mentioned because the speaker s love beings to grow for Lucia. The poem continues to describe Lucia s physical characteristics, as
