The Taming Of The Shrew Essay
Crafting an essay on the topic of "The Taming of the Shrew" can be a challenging endeavor,
requiring a deep understanding of the play, its characters, and the overarching themes presented
by William Shakespeare. This task demands more than just summarizing the plot; it necessitates a
critical analysis that explores the complexities of the characters' relationships and the societal
norms prevalent during the Elizabethan era.
One of the primary challenges lies in unraveling the layers of Katherine and Petruchio's
relationship. The play's seemingly controversial themes, such as the concept of taming a woman,
demand careful examination and nuanced interpretation. It's crucial to avoid oversimplification
and delve into the subtleties that Shakespeare embedded in the text. Furthermore, addressing the
play's humor, often rooted in its gender dynamics, requires a delicate balance to appreciate the
comedic elements without overlooking the potential for controversy.
Navigating the historical and cultural context is another obstacle. Understanding the societal
norms of Shakespeare's time is essential to grasp the motivations of the characters and the
dynamics at play. This historical awareness adds depth to the analysis but also adds an additional
layer of complexity to the writing process.
The need for a comprehensive literature review and an in-depth understanding of critical
perspectives on "The Taming of the Shrew" can make the essay-writing process even more
daunting. Different interpretations and scholarly opinions must be synthesized and woven into a
cohesive argument to provide a well-rounded analysis.
Moreover, expressing one's thoughts eloquently and persuasively is a skill that requires honing.
Articulating a coherent thesis statement and supporting it with well-reasoned arguments while
maintaining clarity can be a challenging balancing act.
In conclusion, crafting an essay on "The Taming of the Shrew" demands more than just a
superficial understanding of the play. It requires a deep dive into the intricacies of its characters,
themes, and historical context. Successful completion of such an essay necessitates critical
thinking, analytical skills, and the ability to articulate complex ideas effectively.

Review of Literature
According to Fain (2017), in order to validate the need for a study, an updated
literature review is vital. The cited literature is all pertinent to the research
problem. The literature review defines the knowledge gap and it is clearly
understood how the researcher reached the objective. The concept of the literature
review is included which states that knowledge of institutional guidelines and how
they are perceived and adhered to by nurses is limited. A brief summary of relevant
literature and implications to the research reveals five professional practice
guidelines for VAP prevention and chose the three that were used most often to
describe adherence guidelines as well as explore how user factors, guideline
qualities, and contextual factors influence adherence (Kiyoshi Teo et al., 2014).
The resources used are primarily primary sources which, according to Fain (2017)
means they are written by the person who developed the theory or conducted the
research (p. 88). There appears to be no secondary sources which is good because an
appropriate literature review mainly reflects the use of primary sources (Fain, 2017,
p. 88).
Theoretical Framework
In a study based on theory, the framework is usually referred to as theoretical
framework (Fain, 2017, p. 103). The theoretical framework was presented clearly in
the objective statement of the article, To identify factors that influence adherence to

Latin America Research Paper
Latin America is home to an extremely diverse population, this is predominantley
down to the fact that the majority of Latin America was colonized by the European
superpowers of colonial times such as, Spain, Portugal, Britain, France and the
Netherlands. As a result of this colonialism there has been significant political and
social unrest in Latin America which has hindered the development of both social
and economic processes. The Blancos dominated social, politcal and economic
systems for over a century and when the time came for colonoial powers to
relinquish their power over their colonies it was not as simple as just packing their
bags and leaving.
As colononialism was coming to an end there was widespread corruption throughout

Emoderation.com published an article written by Richard Simcott, which outlines the
statistics of social media usage throughout Latin America.
The statistics show that like with the rest of the world, the popularity of social
networking is rapidly gaining momentum in Latin America. This is proven by the
fact that Facebook claims that 19% of its users are in South America and that Brazil
is home to the second largest number of Facebook users in the world second only the
United States. The rapid growth of social media popularity in Latin America is further
backed up by the statistic published by emoderation.com, which states that in 2013
there was a jump of 21% in the number of Internet users compared to 2012.
Similarly to Facebook, when it comes to Twitter users Brazil boasts the second
largest of number of users in the world, once again second only to the United States.
While YouTube also state that outside the U.S, Latin America as a whole boasts the
second largest number of YouTube users on earth. The popularity of other sites such

Descartes Skeptical Argument and Reponses by Bouwsma and Malcolm
In this essay, I will examine Rene Descartes skeptical argument and responses by
O.K. Bouwsma and Norman Malcolm. I intend to prove that while both
Bouwsma and Malcolm make points that refute specific parts of Descartes argument
in their criticisms, neither is sufficient in itself to refute the whole. In order to
understand Descartes argument and its sometimes radical ideas, one must have at
least a general idea of his motives in undertaking the argument.
The seventeenth century was a time of great scientific progress, and the blossoming
scientific community was concerned with setting up a consistent standard to define
what constituted science. Their science was based ... Show more content on

More significantly, Descartes implies that all consciousness could actually be a dream
state, thus proving that the senses can be doubted. The dream argument has its
intrinsic problems, however. One, is that images in dreams can be described as
quot;painted images quot;.2
In other words, a dream image is only a portrait of a real life object, place or
person. If we are dreaming then it is implied that at some point we were conscious
and able to perceive these things. If we are able to perceive these things then we
must admit that we have senses and that our senses are, at least in part, true. This was
exactly what Descartes was trying to disprove, and it was one reason he abandoned
the dream argument.
The second problem with this argument is that it points to mathematics as a point of
certainty. I believe Descartes best explained this in his own words:
quot;[W]hether I be awake or asleep, two plus three equals five and a square does
not have more than four sides: nor does it seem possible that such obvious truths
can fall under the suspicions of falsity. quot;3 Even when we are dreaming, the laws
of mathematics and geometry hold true, but they can not be Descartes point of
certainty for a simple reason; these abilities that Descartes believed were innate still
had to come from somewhere. If they are in our heads when we are born, someone
had to put them there. Descartes question is who, and he comes up with
Graphical User Interfaces
Modern society heavily depends on the abilities of computers, Information
Technology, and information processing. As such, since access to information
occurs mainly through digital means and media, the way information is arranged
and presented on the screen is crucial. Because of this need for fast access and easy
arrangement arose, in the early 1980s, companies started to work on various
graphical user interfaces (or GUI for short). Most dictionaries define a GUI as a way
of arranging information on a computerscreen that is easy to understand and use
because it uses icons, menus and a mouse rather than only text. Introducing such
software allowed a human computer interaction on a visual plane, and took
computing to an entirely new... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Before Graphical User Interfaces became a standard for giving commands and
retrieving information, computers were controlled through the means of a text based
interface. This meant that a person had to enter text commands in order to
communicate with the computer, which meant that one had to know various
commands that could be entered and specific, technologic jargon that for a normal
person , not prominent in the art of computing was simply hard, or even impossible to
comprehend and memorize. On top of that, the data was displayed on the screen was
usually presented in form of a column of text, employing the aforementioned jargon
and syntax of computer language . As a consequence, computers were rather reserved
for enthusiasts and professionals than general public, which at that time didn t find
them useful or attractive.
When a user interface that focused on presenting information in a graphical way
appeared, a revolution took place. Suddenly, a common person even one, that has
never dealt with such a device before could approach a computer, and be actually
able to perform operations on it, using a pointer device instead of typing
complicated commands on a keyboard. If he wanted to move a file from one place
to another, he wouldn t have to type COPY followed with a string of letters and
symbols, but simply grab the file with the arrow, drag it across the screen, and drop it
where he wanted. Such action strongly

Neisseria Meningitis Research Paper
STRUCTURE AND MODE OF REPLICATION: Neisseria meningitidis is the
bacterium that causes the disease Meningococcal meningitis and septicemia. This
bacterium is described as being gram negative with a diplococci structure, meaning
that there is very little to no peptidoglycan in its cell wall and is made up of many
spherical shaped bacteriapushed against each other. Neisseriameningitidis is an
immobile bacterium and is transferred between people through direct contact . It is
also described as being an aerobic bacterium, meaning that it is capable of using
oxygen for energy . (Samantha Bingen, 2008).

Meningococcal septicemia is very distinctive. It first starts as either a spot, scratch,

Degeneration of Kurtz and Colonialism in Heart of Darkness
Kurtz was a personal embodiment, a dramatization, of all that Conrad felt of futility,
degradation, and horror in what the Europeans in the Congo called progress, which
meant the exploitation of the natives by every variety of cruelty and treachery known
to greedy man. Kurtz was to Marlow, penetrating this country, a name, constantly
recurring in people s talk, for cleverness and enterprise. Joseph Conrad s Heart of
Darkness is a portrait of the degeneration of the ideal of Kurtz symbolizing the
degeneration of the ideal of colonialism as civilizing work .

Marlow also spoke to Kurtz s journalist colleague, who remembered about Kurtz:
Heavens! how that man could talk! He electrified large meetings. He had the faith
don t you see he had the faith. He could get himself to believe anything anything
(Conrad 71). The other thing Kurtz met in the Congo was silence. The dialogue
became a monologue, because the other side of the conversation is only wilderness.
Kurtz s whole orientation in the Congo was based on the quest for ever increasing
quantities of ivory. In this lay the weakness of Kurtz, for he wanted something, unlike
his Russian companion. Kurtz s intelligence, his ideas, and his plans, were captive to
his status as ivory gatherer. Kurtz s rejection of the validity of the unsound method
was not the problem. The problem with Kurtz, which Marlow does not realize, is not
that Kurtz went native, but that he did not go native enough. In other words, Kurtz
did not abandon the ivory fetish. Kurtz s link with colonialism is therefore his
undoing, even in the individual decay he undergoes.
Kurtz, more than anyone, was a signal of human potential to Marlow, the universal
genius , the extraordinary man found the limits of his potential much more easily in
his isolation: Believe me or not, his intelligence was perfectly clear concentrated, it is
true, upon himself with a horrible intensity, yet clear... (Conrad 65). Kurtz s abilities

Dante s Inferno And The Balance Of Power Essay
In Dante s Inferno, Dante (the poet) targets the balance of power between the
papacy and empire. The imbalance between the two is at fault of the papacy,
according to Dante, which is understood to be due to the great refusal. With the
great refusal, the papacy was able to fulfill its greed for power which ultimately
resulted in Dante s exile. However, unlike other poets and other influential
individuals of his time, specifically Thomas Aquinas, Dante took the next step to
show how all these sins came together to contribute to social disorder. Dante s divine
comedyinfiltrates the corruption in the church and its contribution to the political
instability in Florence and even all of Italy (which was not unified) at the time. Dante

The political turmoil became further drawn out between opposition for the empire
to have power or whether the power should be held by the papacy. According to
Dante and Thomas Aquinas, a philosopher and Franciscan during Dante s time, they
both agree that the church s role did not require the amount of power they were
trying to acquire. However, a lot of that changed when Pope Celestine V abandoned
his duties of the papacy which gave rise to Dante s biggest enemy, Pope Boniface
VIII. Unlike Aquinas, for Dante the biggest things were the effect on the community
and the infiltration of trust which most of his characters in the Inferno are guilty of.
However the infiltration within the church is much too widespread and personally
affected Dante; in turn in his poem he has placed them in different levels of hell to
make them wish they can repent what they did on earth, as the inferno is a journey

Bible Project
The book that I studied was the Book of Proverbs. The book of Proverbs is part of
the Books of Wisdom in the Old Testament of The Bible. The books in the wisdom
section of The Bible (includes the book of Job, Psalms, Proverbs,Ecclesiastes, Song
of Songs, Book of Wisdom and Sirach) are meant to try and spread wisdom to the
reader and show the right way, or better ways to live your life in faith. The book of
Proverbs is made up of guides on how to live a faithful life, and how to deal with
different situations that you may come across in your life.
Proverbs is a collection of instructions and sayings composed into a book
(usccb.org, 2016). The Book of Proverbs is made up of both long and short guides
to life that have to deal with certain situations. These passages can range from a
length of seven verses to thirteen chapters. The situations that are written about are
very common in today s society. These situations that are written about in Proverbs
range from laziness to laughter. Proverbs includes two types of writings: long
instructions that are addressed to younger people and shorter sayings that are meant
for all ages. Parallelism, which is the state of being parallel to something, or
corresponding to something is very common in The Book of Proverbs. The book of
Proverbs stresses that faith is a matter of right
The Enzymatic Browning Of Apples
The Enzymatic Browning of Apples
Practical experiment:
The purpose of the experiment is to measure the level of browning, due to the
effects of the enzyme called polyphenol oxidase (phenolase), on apple slices exposed
to different Ph. levels.
When exposed to oxygen the enzyme catalyzes the reaction creating melanins (brown
pigments) on the fruit. Soaking the apple slices in acetic acid, orange juice (ascorbic
acid), tap water and calcium carbonate (alkaline) will affect the rate in which the
apple slices brown. The reduction of the browning is dependent on the Ph. levels of
the soaking solutions, also soaking the apple slice in water will restrict the amount of
oxygen that comes into contact with the apple thus temporarily inhibiting the effects
of the phenolase.
Understanding the Prac:
By peeling or cutting fruit and vegetables the enzymes that are stored within the plant
cells are released. When in the presence of oxygen the enzyme phenolase catalyzes
the biochemical reaction of converting phenolic compounds into melanins. Enzymatic
browning occurs optimally between a PH of 5.0 and 7.0.
Browning can also occur via the bruising or other injury to the plant tissue, exposing
the enzyme to oxygen. Although enzymatic browning is not always a defect, for
instance it is required in the process of making raisins, coffee, prunes and cocoa, it
does however have significant effects on the fruits and vegetables that do not require
browning such as apples. Enzymatic browning not only

Descriptive Essay About My Country
New Nashville
Our city is called New Nashville, with a population of about 13,000. Our city is
loosely based on Nashville, TN; so our climate is hot and humid, as well as the
geography being low and flat. We also have a river that goes through the the upper
part of town. With the geography being so perfect for parks, our economy is largely
spent on parks for all ages, community centers, and other buildings that usually go
into residential areas. Our city has a very peculiar set up; where our commercial
and residential are together, but our industrial buildings are as far away as possible.
We decided to set it up this way because we wanted to ensure that no pollution
would harm our residents. Our residential and commercial areas consist of houses,
shops, religious centers, schools, libraries, parks, and entertainment places.
Meanwhile, the industrial area is full of many successful companies, as well as solar
power buildings, water towers, and low pollution garbage and sewage buildings.
The infrastructure in Nashville isn t what one would call the most unique at first;
because we have the normal facilities that most cities have. However, when you
look closer, you ll discover that we have spent much money on police, hospitals,
and fire stations; to ensure the safety of our residents. After, we decided to add as
many schools and ways of transportation as we could; to make sure our city s
residents are educated and can get around. Then we added the entertainment
centers, like parks, malls, etc. The way we set up our infrastructure was very
important for our city, as we tried to make sure that the number one priority was
safety. This took a large chunk out of our budget; but it greatly reduced our crime,
fire, and death rate; and brought up the schooling rates; we had to make sure that
our residents were okay. In the end, taxes was low, people s needs were filled, and
everyone was very happy with New Nashville. However, not all people s needs were
filled. The elderly population still goes through lots of trouble everyday.
Our city will incorporate a variety of futuristic events. The first of which is a virtual
reality display that is meant for elder people. Although this seems a frivolous detail, it

and two show the theme of madness in Ophelia in different ways: the 1990 version
of Hamlet created by Zeffirelli and the 1996 version by Branagh. While both
actresses that played Ophelia conveyed the madness well, they took different
approaches in terms of vocal inflections and movements. The directors also took
different approaches to portray madness like costumes and settings. Lastly, while
Bonham Carter s Ophelia in 1990 shows some ambiguity in the reasons behind her
madness, Blanchett s Ophelia in 1996 does not.
The major scene that shows the madness Ophelia has descended into is in act four
scene five. The two portrayals by Helen Bonham Carter and Kate Blanchett are quite
different as shown by their acting of this scene. First, Bonham Carter s movements
appear much more calculated than Blanchett s movements, as Blanchett primarily lies
on the ground trashing out in a random manner. Bonham Carter, on the other hand,
walks around the set with a purposeful stride (witchywoman4u12, 2011). Next, they
also speak quite differently. Blanchett screams the majority of the speech and speaks
with an inflection that speaks of unsureness. Bonham Carter speaks with a calmer
tone like she knows exactly what she is saying. Lastly, when Ophelia has interactions
between herself and another character like her conversations with Gertrude and
Claudius, Blanchett s Ophelia appears to be unaware of her surroundings and
other people initiate the conversations (Aaron Bradford, 2013). Unlike the 1996
version, Bonham Carter gets up close to people when she is talking to them, and
initiates the conversations between herself and Claudius and Gertrude. This
happens during Ophelia s lines, Where is the beauteous majesty of Denmark...How
should I your true love know From another one? By his cockle hat and staff, And
his sandal shoon...Say you? nay, pray you, mark. He is dead and gone, lady, He is
dead and gone; At his head a grass green turf, At his heels a stone, (IV.v, Shakespeare,

The Pros And Cons Of Flag Burning
On August 22, 1984, Gregory Lee Johnson was arrested for setting the U.S. flag on
fire. His simple act of protest led to the Supreme Court ruling that flag burning is
protected under the First Amendment as free speech, thus overturning his conviction.
The flag symbolizes freedom, and part of that freedom is being able to express
dissatisfaction with the government. However, some see flag burning not merely as a
demonstration of opinion, but as an attack on national unity and American values.
Should it be illegal to burn the U.S. flag as an form of protest, or is this method
within the rights of American citizens? Johnson set the stars and stripes ablaze at the
1984 Republican National Convention after participating in a protest march against...

Concerning the outcome of Texas v. Johnson, Justice William Brennan delivered
the opinion of the court: If there is a bedrock principle underlying the First
Amendment, it is that government may not prohibit the expression of an idea
simply because society finds the idea itself offensive or disagreeable. Flag burning
may be offensive to loyal Americans, but it is not threatening enough by itself to
justify punishment. Brennan also stated that we do not consecrate the flag by
punishing its desecration, for in so doing we dilute the the freedom that this
cherished emblem represents. In Johnson s case, the Supreme Court valued
constitutional principles rather than patriotic preferences. The Supreme Court s
stance on flag burning has remained the same since. Nevertheless, thirty years after
United States v. Eichman, there is still controversy over whether or not it should
be legal. A recent example of the present discussion on flag burning is a tweet
made by President Donald Trump in 2016: Nobody should be allowed to burn the
American flag if they do, there must be consequences perhaps loss of citizenship or
year in jail! However, without a reason to change the law besides personal opinion,
the Supreme Court is not likely to reverse their decision and make flag burning

Social Media is a great way for someone to share information with people from

of coming to me directly. As the new Practice Manager, I had made some changes

Minors And The Medical Decision Making
Minors rights in medical decision making As we grow up, we hear it time and
time again... When you re an adult you can do whatever you want. We heard it
when were driving our parents crazy about wanting to grow up just a little too fast.
We are taught that in the eye of the law, we must wait until we hit our eighteenth
birthday to do things like play the lottery, to move out, to vote, or to go to a club.
We must be nineteen to buy cigarettes, 21 to drink alcohol, 25 to rent a car, but
when we thing aout it more deeply and zoom in closer on the criminal justice
system we see minors differently. In fact, According to legal experts the youngest
person in modern U.S. history to be charged as an adult with first degree murder
was only 11 yeas old at the time he was sentenced (http://www.loyno.edu/~wagues
/article19.html). That same eleven year old that will not get out of prison until he
is a grown man, if at all, would not be able to consent to non emergency medical
care. A general practitioner in a non emergency situation could not treat him without
a parent or guardian giving the go ahead. . It is important to first identify what
rights that minors do have when it comes to their medical decisions and care. In
every state, statutes regarding minor s permission to consent for medical care
depends on the child s status, or on the service that they are seeking. Status in which
a minor under the age of 18 can consent to medical care include cases in which a

Sonnet 43 By Elizabeth Barrett Browning
Poetry has always been known as a beautiful form of art. However, the things that
make the poems so stunning are the life experiences the poets go through. A woman
named Elizabeth Barrett Browning was born in Durham, England in 1806. She had
a great interest in writing, and soon wrote her first poem in Greek when she was 12.
When she was 38 she published a book of poetrytitled Poems, which gained her a
tremendous amount of fame, resulting in her becoming one of the most famous
writers of England. This eventually caught the eye of a poet named Robert Browning.
He wrote a letter to her, eventually leading to them falling in love. They were
married on September 12,1846. Elizabeth died on June 29, 1861. In Sonnet 43 by
Elizabeth Barrett Browning, the author expresses many of her life experiences in it,
making it very emotional. Elizabeth Barrett Browning s life experiences influenced

For example, when she wrote Sonnet 43 , she mentioned something about her
brother s death, I love thee with passion put to use in my old griefs... (Browning

help influence Sonnet 43 . Another example is when Elizabeth wrote about all of
her trials, ВЁI love thee with the breath, Smiles, tears, of all my life!ВЁ (Browning

love poem for Robert. As you can see, Edward s death greatly impacted the way

Observation Of Court Observation
Maricopa County Superior Court Observation
Social Work is a complex and very diverse field with many options to work in.
Many social workers find themselves going to court to advocate for their clients.
Others may consider working with the court directly. As an observer of a court it is
important to notice the individuals involved, the accessibility of the court, the parties
involved, and personal reflections that one perceives.
Description
Court
I attended the Maricopa County Superior Court located at 222 E Javelina Ave,
Mesa, AZ 85210. I went on Wednesday December 6, 2017 from 1pm to 5pm. I
attended both the criminal court in room 202 and family court in room 301. In the
criminal court, I observed 9 different cases and in the family court only 1 case. In
the criminal courtroom, the Judge was Judge Barth and the state prosecutor was
James Blair for all the cases. The public defenders (PD) were different for most all
the cases except some cases had the same PD in which none of them had more that
2 offenders assigned to them at that day. The PD included, Resario Spaccaferro,
Josephine Hallum, Kurt Harris, Asario Backafera, Robert Duffy, and Brian Gardner.
In the family court only the petitioner (the mom) had an attorney Charles Brown,
and the respondent (the dad) represented himself. All attorneys and PD were
dressed in suits and the judges of course were in their black robes. The state
prosecutor was also in a suit but had khaki pants and a dark navy blazer.
Ease of Access
Walking up I noticed there was a giant white tubing in the middle of the parking lot
that was draped over the wall and the court had orange cones blocking the handicap
ramp. Coming out this obstacle was no longer there. However, there is only one
ramp and could have been a huge issue for someone who needed ADA access to the
courtroom. It looked as if it was a fire hose but no water or fire truck was in sight.
Additionally, there is a bus stop behind the court house in front of the juvenile court
house. This makes it very easy for someone to access the courthouse through public
transportation. The surrounding neighborhood is primarily businesses. The old
department of Motor Vehicle is still there along with Community Bridges

In order to ensure stability, Rosas implemented many changes in the government,
including giving more power to the governor, which in turn, saved Rosas job for the
future, allowing him to become a tyrant like leader.[14]
Both of these Caudillos illustrate human s crave for power, and the manipulation,
deception, and devilish processes that can be used to maintain this power. We can
see both of these men as great leaders, as they thoroughly accomplished what they
decided was best. We can also see them as great lessons, teaching us of the dangers
of leadership and the risks it often involves.
Conclusion
The view of past and present Caudillos will consistently change with the person the
view is from. However, one thing is clear. Juan Manuel de Rosasand Porfirio Diaz
were two Caudillos of political excellence, maintaining a long and influential regime.
This was accomplished by both, through their personal triumphs over the previous
government of their nation as well as a triumph over threatening authorities around
and within the nation, such as Diaz regularly jailing those who spoke out against
him or his policies. Rosas and Diaz both knew what they wanted and had valid
processes in accomplishing this; though the moral values of their actions are up to
discussion. This situation is common throughout history, including skilled leaders
such as Hitler, Stalin, and Castro. Juan Manuel de Rosas and Porfirio Diaz display

change on freshwater fish species, specifically on the rising air and freshwater
temperatures and how they affect a cold water dwelling fish species such as the trout.
We will explore how the distribution of trout has changed over time with rising

the economic impacts of increased water temperatures will be on fisheries. Trout
distribution is incredibly susceptible to climate change. According to a report issued

The only way to save these trout is to ultimately improve human s effect on the
environment in order to help save these fish. The rising temperatures are the main
reason these fish have had a declining rate, and one way we as humans can help is
by limiting our carbon emissions and the burning of fossil fuels. It will be a tough
task, but possibly putting a cap and trade, basically a tariff on emissions, is one way
in which we could help stop the emissions and eventually help global temperatures
fall. The higher global temperatures rise, the more species we will eventually lose,
and trout are just one example of

Are Women Responsible For Their Own Low Pay Analysis
Emma Watson said It is time that we all see gender as a spectrum instead of two
sets of opposing ideals. (Rosenfield). Since the beginning of American culture early
colonial years women have been viewed inferior in society, and men have always
been the dominant gender. In the 1900s women did not have many rights, they took
on domestic jobs such as cleaning, cooking, and taking care of their children. As the
years have passed, women have been granted more rights such as the right to an

The Character of Hamlet in William Shakespeare s Play
Some critics have stated that the appeal of Hamlet to the audience is his many human
weaknesses, the most notable being his indecision. His deliberations and
procrastinations are particularly high lighted when he is faced with the task of
revenge. The law and Christianity, around the early seventeenth century, were clear in
condemning personal revenge as an attempt by man to arrogate the prerogatives of
God. Hamlet s contradicting feelings toward avenging his father and avoiding
breaking the law and going against Christianity were most likely felt by the
Elizabethan audience also, which would have been made up of many Christians,
namely, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
That would be scann d: A villain kills my father, and for that I, his sole son, do this

In this scene, Hamlet discovers Claudius praying; shows a will to perform his task
of revenge, and yet he is unable to go through with it. Hamlet enters to find
Claudius with his back to Hamlet. Tension is created within the audience, as the
scene is portrayed as if the king is preparing for his execution, on his knees, praying,
although he is unaware Hamlet is behind him with his sword drawn. It is the perfect
opportunity, yet Hamlet deliberates. The scene results in an anti climax, with
Shakespeare creating drama with his will he, won t he tactic with regards to Hamlet.
I believe this is a prominent example of Hamlet s inability to take action. Hamlet
never receives any indication from Claudius that he regrets the death of Hamlet s
father, and by killing him, would send him to heaven. I think it most likely that
Hamlet creates his own doubts, or excuses, as to delay with the revenge of his
father. It could also be possible that Hamlet is fearful of the consequences of his act
of vengeance. In Antonio s revenge and The revenger s tragedy , the criminal is also
the ruler. As was with these, the protagonist may be merely afraid of the
consequences of treason.

Nietzsche s View Of Dionysus
In a letter to a nun, Bernard of Clairvaux admonishes, Until now, when living
according to your will and not the will of God, by your law and not that of God,
you were living while dead, living in the world but dead to God; or, if I can speak
more truly, living neither in the world or for God (qtd. in Newman 177). The
sentiments that living on one s terms and not God s is and was common within
Christianity. In fact, multiple documents written in the medieval era point to the tenet
that people must live submit their will to God to achieve salvation and to be accepted
in the Christian community. Part of submitting to his doctrine involves inhibiting
visceral and brutish aspects of the self and encouraging spiritual and benevolent

Dionysus, representing the oneness of existence, is experienced as an individuated
image appearing to dazed spectators a relationship that is the germ of Greek tragic
theater as a mimesis of human life (505). If this concept were to exist in Lybeaus
Desconus, the townspeople would experience a sense of awe for both women
displayed during the exhibition. They might compare in positive terms the difference
between and preferences they might see. In addition, the hero who is on display (in
this case, Lybeaus Desconus) would provide a sense of unity between the Dionysian
and the Apollonian. Instead of the Apollonian figure emerging from the primordial
oneness of existence where opposites would coexist, Lybeaus Desconus
systematically slaughters the creatures that represent wildness and restricts notions of
beauty. The foreground of Nietzsche s criticisms of Christianity comprises
repudiating not only ecstasy but also suffering, manifested through suppressing
bodily impulses and instinctive drives and focusing on an afterlife rather than the
current moment. In general, it is likely Nietzsche would react more positively to the
Christian ideals embedded in many medieval texts than he does in the early 20th
century. Ben Morgan reveals
Time Capsule History
In 1795 Paul Revere and Samuel Adams placed in the cornerstone of the
Massachusetts Statehouse a time capsule. It was a small box, an inch and a half
deep and about half the size of a piece of printer paper. Two hundred and twenty
years pass neighborhoods are built, colleges, schools, churches; the Civil War, and its
draft riots, begin and end. Flight is conquered; the automatic rifle is invented the
typewriter, telegraph, television, and the computer soon follow. Awash with war, the
twentieth century sees the fall of empires, large and small, and the development of
the atomic bomb. The Olympic Games, Watergate, Harry Potter, 9/11. Two and a

It must have caught the plumber by surprise to find a ten pound time capsule from the
first years of the United States. Lodged tightly in stone, it took workers seven hours
to remove the box, and before a special ceremony held for the opening, another four
to loosen the screws holding it fast.
Wearing protective gloves, members of the historical society found newspapers,
coins, and even a rectangular silver plate engraved by Revere himself inside the
capsule. The contents of the box were well preserved, and they provided a rare and
candid glimpse at our not so distant past. The Samuel Adams and Paul Revere Time

Ethical Dilemmas In The Criminal Justice System
There are several different ethical dilemmas given in this scenario. The fact that
there is a possibility that you are going to let a criminal free because you heard the
prosecution say that he confessed to the crime is the main one. Could you go back
to the jury room during deliberation and honestly ignore what was instructed to you
to ignore by the judge, even if that mean allowing a murder go free.
Unfortunately, what the jury probably didn t hear is what was talked about in court
outside their presence between the judge and the lawyers. The jury does not know
how the confession was acquired. This confession could have been coerced or
acquired illegally. This is the reason the our criminal justice system has due process,

The Great Purge Of The Cold War
Joseph Stalin s determination greatly affected his leadership and led to the
beginnings of the Cold War. His determination allowed him to rise to power and
destroy all opposition against his reign. The Great Purge, one of the greatest
terrors in history, was also done due to his determination to stay in power. This
same determination led to, as well as shaped, a large quantity of the events of
World War 2. His leadership was similar to the leadership of Adolf Hitler, yet
because of his determination, was quite different, and quite possibly more effective.
In the end his determination for power led to the events of the Cold War.
This determination greatly affected Stalin s rise to power, and allowed him to
completely decimate all opposition to his leadership. Originally, Stalin was a
powerless citizen of the USSR, yet he managed to quickly rise to the top of the
political field. He began his role in politics by joining the Bolsheviks in 1903. Due
to his thirst for power he steadily rose through the ranks of the party and was soon
the General Secretary. The Bolshevik insurrection to Russian leadership was
successful and placed Stalin in a position of great power. He then used his power to
isolate members of the party in an attempt to take away their power and popularity.
Determined to gain absolute dominance over the other members, he caused the
dismissal, and possibly the deaths, of several of his political opponents. This left him
in total rule over the Communist party,
Milton And Friedman
To begin with, in regards to how Milton and Rose Friedman view the relationship
between equality and freedom, the following quote from the excerpt of Free to
Choose struck me as the most powerful: A society that puts equality...ahead of
freedom will end up with neither equality nor freedom. The use of force to achieve
equality will destroy freedom... On the other hand, a society that puts freedom first
will, as a happy by product, end up with both greater freedom and greater equality
(Sandel, 59). Therefore, the Friedmans place a higher value on freedom and believe

should be above equality. Without freedom of choice and freedom to use one s

From Robert Nozick s Anarchy, State and Utopia, it appears that one of the guiding
principles in each person s liberty is the entitlement theory and how each person
obtains their goods. When considering redistribution, Nozick claims, From the
point of view of an entitlement theory, redistribution is a serious matter indeed,
involving, as it does, the violation of people s rights (Sandel, 68). Thus, Nozick
believes that redistribution acts contrary to each person s rights to their own
goods. Drawing from the ideas of Locke, Anyone is entitled to own a thing whose
value he has created (Sandel, 72). Therefore, pooling these ideas together, personal
liberties are valued so highly because when someone obtains something justly and
created value in it, he or she deserves to reap the benefits. I am not sure that
personal liberties should take absolute primacy over everything, but they definitely
deserve a good amount of attention. My hesitation is that if everyone only has
concern for their own personal liberties, that could interfere with other s personal
liberties. I think the freedoms of the broader society should also play a strong role in
determining equality and liberties for
The Civil Rights Movement, Woodstock, Vietnam War,
And...
Who knew how powerful the 1960 s would be? You had the civil rights movement,
Woodstock, Vietnam War, and an explosion in rock and roll, as well as soul? Exactly,
and that s just in America. In Africa, countries were gaining freedom and
independence. By 1980 the British, French, Italians, Spanish, Portuguese, and Dutch
were being conquered and most of Africahad claimed independence as countries, all
the while apartheid was still going on. Even with the riots between warring states,
weren t enough to keep them. It actually caused them to lose more control.
Countries demanded freedom and to end the apartheid across Africa. Nelson
Mandela went to jail for his cause and was released in 1990, after twenty seven
years of imprisonment. Over seventy leaders were assassinated in order to keep
control in Africa. I m going to explain the problems they faced gaining independence
in Nigeria and South Africa, as well as the political reforms going on as we speak
since 1990.
Nigeria was having an internal war that the Muslims started with the Ibos. It started
when they gained independence in 1960. They adopted the feudal systems and had
to share power with Lagos, and three state governments in the north, east, and west.
In 1964, the Ibos seized power and declared a central dictatorship. The Muslims of
the north didn t like the Ibos because they weren t Muslim. So they sparked a war in
1967. The Ibos, after a group of northern officers obtained the government positions,
created their own
Warner Brothers Pictures Gravity
The movie Gravity, a winner of 7 Academy awards, produced by Warner Brothers
Pictures , shows just how dangerous space can be. Dr. Ryan Stone is a bio medical
engineer who is on her first mission into space. Soon after taking off, Houston
commands her and her fellow astronaut, Matt Kowalski, to abort the expedition.
Their colleagues back home have warned them that a ton of debris is headed their
way because of a Russian missile strike. The debris hits their station and causes a lot
of problems for them. They quickly realize that it is too late to return home and that
they have to find a way to survive with the clock ticking down. Losing connection
with Mission Control is one of the many problems the two astronauts faced. Although
this movie may have many events in space that are scientifically accurate, some
events are completely inaccurate.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They undoubtedly got many things correct in this movie and viewers praise them
for this. One example of them achieving accuracy is when George Clooney had to
let go to save Sandra Bullock. Due to Isaac Newton s laws of motion, we know
that an object in motion will remain in motion unless acted upon by an outside force
(Newton s First Law.) Since there is little gravity in space, the astronauts had no
outside forces acting upon them once they were moved, unless something or
someone hit them. As Stone is falling with her leg caught in the parachute, she is
decelerating. Kowalski believes that the parachute cannot absorb that much energy
so letting go of the parachute will be effective because it will only have to absorb
Stone s energy and not both of theirs. This scene is correctly shown in the movie and
for the most part would happen the same way in real

  • 1. The Taming Of The Shrew Essay Crafting an essay on the topic of "The Taming of the Shrew" can be a challenging endeavor, requiring a deep understanding of the play, its characters, and the overarching themes presented by William Shakespeare. This task demands more than just summarizing the plot; it necessitates a critical analysis that explores the complexities of the characters' relationships and the societal norms prevalent during the Elizabethan era. One of the primary challenges lies in unraveling the layers of Katherine and Petruchio's relationship. The play's seemingly controversial themes, such as the concept of taming a woman, demand careful examination and nuanced interpretation. It's crucial to avoid oversimplification and delve into the subtleties that Shakespeare embedded in the text. Furthermore, addressing the play's humor, often rooted in its gender dynamics, requires a delicate balance to appreciate the comedic elements without overlooking the potential for controversy. Navigating the historical and cultural context is another obstacle. Understanding the societal norms of Shakespeare's time is essential to grasp the motivations of the characters and the dynamics at play. This historical awareness adds depth to the analysis but also adds an additional layer of complexity to the writing process. The need for a comprehensive literature review and an in-depth understanding of critical perspectives on "The Taming of the Shrew" can make the essay-writing process even more daunting. Different interpretations and scholarly opinions must be synthesized and woven into a cohesive argument to provide a well-rounded analysis. Moreover, expressing one's thoughts eloquently and persuasively is a skill that requires honing. Articulating a coherent thesis statement and supporting it with well-reasoned arguments while maintaining clarity can be a challenging balancing act. In conclusion, crafting an essay on "The Taming of the Shrew" demands more than just a superficial understanding of the play. It requires a deep dive into the intricacies of its characters, themes, and historical context. Successful completion of such an essay necessitates critical thinking, analytical skills, and the ability to articulate complex ideas effectively. The cited literature is all pertinent to the research problem. The literature review defines the knowledge gap and it is clearly understood how the researcher reached the objective. The concept of the literature review is included which states that knowledge of institutional guidelines and how they are perceived and adhered to by nurses is limited. A brief summary of relevant literature and implications to the research reveals five professional practice guidelines for VAP prevention and chose the three that were used most often to describe adherence guidelines as well as explore how user factors, guideline qualities, and contextual factors influence adherence (Kiyoshi Teo et al., 2014). The resources used are primarily primary sources which, according to Fain (2017) means they are written by the person who developed the theory or conducted the research (p. 88). There appears to be no secondary sources which is good because an appropriate literature review mainly reflects the use of primary sources (Fain, 2017, p. 88). Theoretical Framework In a study based on theory, the framework is usually referred to as theoretical framework (Fain, 2017, p. 103). The theoretical framework was presented clearly in the objective statement of the article, To identify factors that influence adherence to guidelines for prevention

Latin America Research Paper Latin America is home to an extremely diverse population, this is predominantley down to the fact that the majority of Latin America was colonized by the European superpowers of colonial times such as, Spain, Portugal, Britain, France and the Netherlands. As a result of this colonialism there has been significant political and social unrest in Latin America which has hindered the development of both social and economic processes. The Blancos dominated social, politcal and economic systems for over a century and when the time came for colonoial powers to relinquish their power over their colonies it was not as simple as just packing their bags and leaving. The statistics show that like with the rest of the world, the popularity of social networking is rapidly gaining momentum in Latin America. This is proven by the fact that Facebook claims that 19% of its users are in South America and that Brazil is home to the second largest number of Facebook users in the world second only the United States. The rapid growth of social media popularity in Latin America is further backed up by the statistic published by emoderation.com, which states that in 2013 there was a jump of 21% in the number of Internet users compared to 2012. Descartes Skeptical Argument and Reponses by Bouwsma and Malcolm In this essay, I will examine Rene Descartes skeptical argument and responses by O.K. Bouwsma and Norman Malcolm. I intend to prove that while both Bouwsma and Malcolm make points that refute specific parts of Descartes argument in their criticisms, neither is sufficient in itself to refute the whole. In order to understand Descartes argument and its sometimes radical ideas, one must have at least a general idea of his motives in undertaking the argument. The seventeenth century was a time of great scientific progress, and the blossoming scientific community was concerned with setting up a consistent standard to define what constituted science. Their science was based ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... More significantly, Descartes implies that all consciousness could actually be a dream state, thus proving that the senses can be doubted. The dream argument has its intrinsic problems, however. One, is that images in dreams can be described as quot;painted images quot;.2 In other words, a dream image is only a portrait of a real life object, place or person. If we are dreaming then it is implied that at some point we were conscious and able to perceive these things. If we are able to perceive these things then we must admit that we have senses and that our senses are, at least in part, true. This was exactly what Descartes was trying to disprove, and it was one reason he abandoned the dream argument. The second problem with this argument is that it points to mathematics as a point of certainty. I believe Descartes best explained this in his own words: quot;[W]hether I be awake or asleep, two plus three equals five and a square does not have more than four sides: nor does it seem possible that such obvious truths can fall under the suspicions of falsity. quot;3 Even when we are dreaming, the laws of mathematics and geometry hold true, but they can not be Descartes point of certainty for a simple reason; these abilities that Descartes believed were innate still had to come from somewhere. If they are in our heads when we are born, someone had to put them there. Descartes question is who, and he comes up with

As such, since access to information occurs mainly through digital means and media, the way information is arranged and presented on the screen is crucial. Because of this need for fast access and easy arrangement arose, in the early 1980s, companies started to work on various graphical user interfaces (or GUI for short). Most dictionaries define a GUI as a way of arranging information on a computerscreen that is easy to understand and use because it uses icons, menus and a mouse rather than only text. Introducing such software allowed a human computer interaction on a visual plane, and took computing to an entirely new... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Before Graphical User Interfaces became a standard for giving commands and retrieving information, computers were controlled through the means of a text based interface. This meant that a person had to enter text commands in order to communicate with the computer, which meant that one had to know various commands that could be entered and specific, technologic jargon that for a normal person , not prominent in the art of computing was simply hard, or even impossible to comprehend and memorize. On top of that, the data was displayed on the screen was usually presented in form of a column of text, employing the aforementioned jargon and syntax of computer language . As a consequence, computers were rather reserved for enthusiasts and professionals than general public, which at that time didn t find them useful or attractive. When a user interface that focused on presenting information in a graphical way appeared, a revolution took place. Suddenly, a common person even one, that has never dealt with such a device before could approach a computer, and be actually able to perform operations on it, using a pointer device instead of typing complicated commands on a keyboard. If he wanted to move a file from one place to another, he wouldn t have to type COPY followed with a string of letters and symbols, but simply grab the file with the arrow, drag it across the screen, and drop it where he wanted. He could get himself to believe anything anything (Conrad 71). The other thing Kurtz met in the Congo was silence. The dialogue became a monologue, because the other side of the conversation is only wilderness. Kurtz s whole orientation in the Congo was based on the quest for ever increasing quantities of ivory. In this lay the weakness of Kurtz, for he wanted something, unlike his Russian companion. Kurtz s intelligence, his ideas, and his plans, were captive to his status as ivory gatherer. Kurtz s rejection of the validity of the unsound method was not the problem. The problem with Kurtz, which Marlow does not realize, is not that Kurtz went native, but that he did not go native enough. In other words, Kurtz did not abandon the ivory fetish. Kurtz s link with colonialism is therefore his undoing, even in the individual decay he undergoes. The imbalance between the two is at fault of the papacy, according to Dante, which is understood to be due to the great refusal. With the great refusal, the papacy was able to fulfill its greed for power which ultimately resulted in Dante s exile. However, unlike other poets and other influential individuals of his time, specifically Thomas Aquinas, Dante took the next step to show how all these sins came together to contribute to social disorder. According to Dante and Thomas Aquinas, a philosopher and Franciscan during Dante s time, they both agree that the church s role did not require the amount of power they were trying to acquire. However, a lot of that changed when Pope Celestine V abandoned his duties of the papacy which gave rise to Dante s biggest enemy, Pope Boniface VIII. Unlike Aquinas, for Dante the biggest things were the effect on the community and the infiltration of trust which most of his characters in the Inferno are guilty of. However the infiltration within the church is much too widespread and personally affected Dante; in turn in his poem he has placed them in different levels of hell to make them wish they can repent what they did on earth, as the inferno is a journey reflection of the

  • 13. The Enzymatic Browning Of Apples The Enzymatic Browning of Apples Practical experiment: The purpose of the experiment is to measure the level of browning, due to the effects of the enzyme called polyphenol oxidase (phenolase), on apple slices exposed to different Ph. levels. When exposed to oxygen the enzyme catalyzes the reaction creating melanins (brown pigments) on the fruit. Soaking the apple slices in acetic acid, orange juice (ascorbic acid), tap water and calcium carbonate (alkaline) will affect the rate in which the apple slices brown. The reduction of the browning is dependent on the Ph. levels of the soaking solutions, also soaking the apple slice in water will restrict the amount of oxygen that comes into contact with the apple thus temporarily inhibiting the effects of the phenolase. Understanding the Prac: By peeling or cutting fruit and vegetables the enzymes that are stored within the plant cells are released. When in the presence of oxygen the enzyme phenolase catalyzes the biochemical reaction of converting phenolic compounds into melanins. Enzymatic browning occurs optimally between a PH of 5.0 and 7.0. Browning can also occur via the bruising or other injury to the plant tissue, exposing the enzyme to oxygen. Although enzymatic browning is not always a defect, for instance it is required in the process of making raisins, coffee, prunes and cocoa, it does however have significant effects on the fruits and vegetables that do not require browning such as apples. Enzymatic browning not only

Our city is loosely based on Nashville, TN; so our climate is hot and humid, as well as the geography being low and flat. We also have a river that goes through the the upper part of town. With the geography being so perfect for parks, our economy is largely spent on parks for all ages, community centers, and other buildings that usually go into residential areas. Our city has a very peculiar set up; where our commercial and residential are together, but our industrial buildings are as far away as possible. We decided to set it up this way because we wanted to ensure that no pollution would harm our residents. Our residential and commercial areas consist of houses, shops, religious centers, schools, libraries, parks, and entertainment places. Meanwhile, the industrial area is full of many successful companies, as well as solar power buildings, water towers, and low pollution garbage and sewage buildings. The infrastructure in Nashville isn t what one would call the most unique at first; because we have the normal facilities that most cities have. However, when you look closer, you ll discover that we have spent much money on police, hospitals, and fire stations; to ensure the safety of our residents. After, we decided to add as many schools and ways of transportation as we could; to make sure our city s residents are educated and can get around. Then we added the entertainment centers, like parks, malls, etc. The way we set up our infrastructure was very important for our city, as we tried to make sure that the number one priority was safety. This took a large chunk out of our budget; but it greatly reduced our crime, fire, and death rate; and brought up the schooling rates; we had to make sure that our residents were okay. In the end, taxes was low, people s needs were filled, and everyone was very happy with New Nashville. However, not all people s needs were filled. One prime example of this is Ophelia s downfall in Hamlet. While both actresses that played Ophelia conveyed the madness well, they took different approaches in terms of vocal inflections and movements. The directors also took different approaches to portray madness like costumes and settings. Lastly, while Bonham Carter s Ophelia in 1990 shows some ambiguity in the reasons behind her madness, Blanchett s Ophelia in 1996 does not. The major scene that shows the madness Ophelia has descended into is in act four scene five. The two portrayals by Helen Bonham Carter and Kate Blanchett are quite different as shown by their acting of this scene. First, Bonham Carter s movements appear much more calculated than Blanchett s movements, as Blanchett primarily lies on the ground trashing out in a random manner. Bonham Carter, on the other hand, walks around the set with a purposeful stride (witchywoman4u12, 2011). Next, they also speak quite differently. Blanchett screams the majority of the speech and speaks with an inflection that speaks of unsureness. Bonham Carter speaks with a calmer tone like she knows exactly what she is saying. Lastly, when Ophelia has interactions between herself and another character like her conversations with Gertrude and Claudius, Blanchett s Ophelia appears to be unaware of her surroundings and other people initiate the conversations (Aaron Bradford, 2013). Unlike the 1996 version, Bonham Carter gets up close to people when she is talking to them, and initiates the conversations between herself and Claudius and Gertrude. This happens during Ophelia s lines, Where is the beauteous majesty of Denmark...How should I your true love know From another one? By his cockle hat and staff, And his sandal shoon...Say you? nay, pray you, mark. He is dead and gone, lady, He is dead and gone; At his head a grass green turf, At his heels a stone, (IV.v, Shakespeare, William). She
  • 22. The Pros And Cons Of Flag Burning On August 22, 1984, Gregory Lee Johnson was arrested for setting the U.S. flag on fire. His simple act of protest led to the Supreme Court ruling that flag burning is protected under the First Amendment as free speech, thus overturning his conviction. The flag symbolizes freedom, and part of that freedom is being able to express dissatisfaction with the government. However, some see flag burning not merely as a demonstration of opinion, but as an attack on national unity and American values. Should it be illegal to burn the U.S. flag as an form of protest, or is this method within the rights of American citizens? Concerning the outcome of Texas v. Johnson, Justice William Brennan delivered the opinion of the court: If there is a bedrock principle underlying the First Amendment, it is that government may not prohibit the expression of an idea simply because society finds the idea itself offensive or disagreeable. Flag burning may be offensive to loyal Americans, but it is not threatening enough by itself to justify punishment. Brennan also stated that we do not consecrate the flag by punishing its desecration, for in so doing we dilute the the freedom that this cherished emblem represents. In Johnson s case, the Supreme Court valued constitutional principles rather than patriotic preferences. The Supreme Court s stance on flag burning has remained the same since. Nevertheless, thirty years after United States v. Eichman, there is still controversy over whether or not it should be legal. A recent example of the present discussion on flag burning is a tweet made by President Donald Trump in 2016: Nobody should be allowed to burn the American flag if they do, there must be consequences perhaps loss of citizenship or year in jail! However, without a reason to change the law besides personal opinion, the Supreme Court is not likely to reverse their decision and make flag burning

We heard it when were driving our parents crazy about wanting to grow up just a little too fast. We are taught that in the eye of the law, we must wait until we hit our eighteenth birthday to do things like play the lottery, to move out, to vote, or to go to a club. We must be nineteen to buy cigarettes, 21 to drink alcohol, 25 to rent a car, but when we thing aout it more deeply and zoom in closer on the criminal justice system we see minors differently. In fact, According to legal experts the youngest person in modern U.S. history to be charged as an adult with first degree murder was only 11 yeas old at the time he was sentenced (http://www.loyno.edu/~wagues /article19.html). That same eleven year old that will not get out of prison until he is a grown man, if at all, would not be able to consent to non emergency medical care. However, the things that make the poems so stunning are the life experiences the poets go through. A woman named Elizabeth Barrett Browning was born in Durham, England in 1806. She had a great interest in writing, and soon wrote her first poem in Greek when she was 12. When she was 38 she published a book of poetrytitled Poems, which gained her a tremendous amount of fame, resulting in her becoming one of the most famous writers of England. This eventually caught the eye of a poet named Robert Browning. He wrote a letter to her, eventually leading to them falling in love. They were married on September 12,1846. Elizabeth died on June 29, 1861. In Sonnet 43 by Elizabeth Barrett Browning, the author expresses many of her life experiences in it, making it very emotional. • 26. Observation Of Court Observation Maricopa County Superior Court Observation Social Work is a complex and very diverse field with many options to work in. Many social workers find themselves going to court to advocate for their clients. Others may consider working with the court directly. As an observer of a court it is important to notice the individuals involved, the accessibility of the court, the parties involved, and personal reflections that one perceives. Description Court I attended the Maricopa County Superior Court located at 222 E Javelina Ave, Mesa, AZ 85210. I went on Wednesday December 6, 2017 from 1pm to 5pm. I attended both the criminal court in room 202 and family court in room 301. In the criminal court, I observed 9 different cases and in the family court only 1 case. In the criminal courtroom, the Judge was Judge Barth and the state prosecutor was James Blair for all the cases. The public defenders (PD) were different for most all the cases except some cases had the same PD in which none of them had more that 2 offenders assigned to them at that day. The PD included, Resario Spaccaferro, Josephine Hallum, Kurt Harris, Asario Backafera, Robert Duffy, and Brian Gardner. In the family court only the petitioner (the mom) had an attorney Charles Brown, and the respondent (the dad) represented himself. All attorneys and PD were dressed in suits and the judges of course were in their black robes. The state prosecutor was also in a suit but had khaki pants and a dark navy blazer. Ease of Access Walking up I noticed there was a giant white tubing in the middle of the parking lot that was draped over the wall and the court had orange cones blocking the handicap ramp. Coming out this obstacle was no longer there. However, there is only one ramp and could have been a huge issue for someone who needed ADA access to the courtroom. It looked as if it was a fire hose but no water or fire truck was in sight. Additionally, there is a bus stop behind the court house in front of the juvenile court house. This makes it very easy for someone to access the courthouse through public transportation. The surrounding neighborhood is primarily businesses. The old department of Motor Vehicle is still there along with Community Bridges

This was accomplished by both, through their personal triumphs over the previous government of their nation as well as a triumph over threatening authorities around and within the nation, such as Diaz regularly jailing those who spoke out against him or his policies. In the 1900s women did not have many rights, they took on domestic jobs such as cleaning, cooking, and taking care of their children. The Character of Hamlet in William Shakespeare s Play Some critics have stated that the appeal of Hamlet to the audience is his many human weaknesses, the most notable being his indecision. His deliberations and procrastinations are particularly high lighted when he is faced with the task of revenge. The law and Christianity, around the early seventeenth century, were clear in condemning personal revenge as an attempt by man to arrogate the prerogatives of God. Hamlet enters to find Claudius with his back to Hamlet. Tension is created within the audience, as the scene is portrayed as if the king is preparing for his execution, on his knees, praying, although he is unaware Hamlet is behind him with his sword drawn. It is the perfect opportunity, yet Hamlet deliberates. The scene results in an anti climax, with Shakespeare creating drama with his will he, won t he tactic with regards to Hamlet. I believe this is a prominent example of Hamlet s inability to take action. Hamlet never receives any indication from Claudius that he regrets the death of Hamlet s father, and by killing him, would send him to heaven. I think it most likely that Hamlet creates his own doubts, or excuses, as to delay with the revenge of his father. It could also be possible that Hamlet is fearful of the consequences of his act of vengeance. In Antonio s revenge and The revenger s tragedy , the criminal is also the ruler. As was with these, the protagonist may be merely afraid of the consequences of treason. The first

They might compare in positive terms the difference between and preferences they might see. In addition, the hero who is on display (in this case, Lybeaus Desconus) would provide a sense of unity between the Dionysian and the Apollonian. Instead of the Apollonian figure emerging from the primordial oneness of existence where opposites would coexist, Lybeaus Desconus systematically slaughters the creatures that represent wildness and restricts notions of beauty. The foreground of Nietzsche s criticisms of Christianity comprises repudiating not only ecstasy but also suffering, manifested through suppressing bodily impulses and instinctive drives and focusing on an afterlife rather than the current moment. This same determination led to, as well as shaped, a large quantity of the events of World War 2. His leadership was similar to the leadership of Adolf Hitler, yet because of his determination, was quite different, and quite possibly more effective. In the end his determination for power led to the events of the Cold War. This determination greatly affected Stalin s rise to power, and allowed him to completely decimate all opposition to his leadership. This left him in total rule over the Communist party,

Dr. Ryan Stone is a bio medical engineer who is on her first mission into space. Soon after taking off, Houston commands her and her fellow astronaut, Matt Kowalski, to abort the expedition. Their colleagues back home have warned them that a ton of debris is headed their way because of a Russian missile strike. The debris hits their station and causes a lot of problems for them. They quickly realize that it is too late to return home and that they have to find a way to survive with the clock ticking down. Losing connection with Mission Control is one of the many problems the two astronauts faced. Although this movie may have many events in space that are scientifically accurate, some events are completely inaccurate.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They undoubtedly got many things correct in this movie and viewers praise them for this. One example of them achieving accuracy is when George Clooney had to let go to save Sandra Bullock. Due to Isaac Newton s laws of motion, we know that an object in motion will remain in motion unless acted upon by an outside force (Newton s First Law.) Since there is little gravity in space, the astronauts had no outside forces acting upon them once they were moved, unless something or someone hit them. As Stone is falling with her leg caught in the parachute, she is decelerating. Kowalski believes that the parachute cannot absorb that much energy so letting go of the parachute will be effective because it will only have to absorb Stone s energy and not both of theirs. This scene is correctly shown in the movie and for the most part would happen the same way in real
