"Home"
(Whistling)
Female: Alabama, Arkansas,
I do love my Ma and Pa
Not the way that I do love you
Male: Well, holy moly me oh my
You’re the apple of my eye
Girl, I've never loved one like you
Female: Man, oh, man, you're my best friend
I scream it to the nothingness
There aint nothing that I need
Male: Well, hot and heavy pumpkin pie
Chocolate candy, Jesus Christ
Ain't nothing please me more than you
[Chorus:]
Home, let me come home
Home is wherever I'm with you
Home, let me come home
Home is wherever I'm with you
La la la la
Take me home
Mama, I'm coming home
I'll follow you into the park,
Through the jungle, through the dark
Girl, I've never loved one like you
Moats and boats, and waterfalls,
Alleyways, and payphone calls
I been everywhere with you (that's true)
Laugh until we think we'll die,
Barefoot on a summer night
Never could be sweeter than with you
And in the streets you run free,
Like it's only you and me,
Geez, you're something to see.
[Chorus]
The lyrics display that a couple
(male and female) are
exclaiming their love to each
other. This gives me the idea to
include a couple in my video,
who will be singing to each
other and playing the guitar.
Fast pace shots of people
whistling, shoes, landscape
etc. Setting scene/ themes.
(Tracking, pan etc.) In time
with beats of the whistling
The couple could be
sitting up in a bed next to
each other, singing and
playing the guitar. I got
inspiration for this from
the iconic picture of John
Lennon & Yoko Onno in
bed. This will illustrate
and amplify the lyrics.
Performance (from
the couple)
Medium shot establishing
couple in bed.
The couple that are singing
sound laid back and happy so
I will try and make my
characters channel this
energy.
I will then cut to a different
scene, as the lyrics
progress, which will be
more conceptual.
The progression from the
verse to the chorus opens up
the meanings and will allow
me to display more
conceptual visuals
Big, bold white text saying HOME
This section will display a
kind of dialogue between
the couple exclaiming their
love for each other. They
will do this in a casual
manner whilst looking at
each other lovingly to
amplify the lyrics. I will
display this through close
ups/extreme close ups of
the couples faces (mouths,
eyes, hands) and use pan
movements to show the
position of them. I want to
use a bird’s eye view of the
characters as well. I want to
use as many different shots
as possible so I can
familiarise the audience
with the couple.
Display a group of teenage
friends running around,
dancing, hugging, holding
hands etc. Showing communal
love, friendship and good
‘vibes’. This can amplify these
lyrics:
Use medium wide shots of
friends walking from
behind
Point of view of friends
close up
Bird’s eye view looking
down upon the group.
Over the shoulder shot of
one person looking at
another (boy/girl)
Focussing shot – show
blade of grass focussed and
show group out of focus
P.O.V – of someone
watching a girl run away
from behind - linking with
this lyric
Show group of teenagers
‘running afree’ in the
street/or a field. Amplify this
lyric. Show this through wide
shots/tracking of them
running.
Show the teenagers laughing,
running barefoot to amplify
the lyric.
La la la la
Take me home
Mama, I'm coming home
Male: Jade?
Female: Alexander?
During this section, a dialogue takes
place between the two characters (the
couple). This will display them saying the
words displayed here in a conversation
This will be amplifying the lyrics and
involving them directly within the song.
This makes me think of
love and being happy
therefore I will try to
amplify this theme in my
visuals.
The couple appear to be
reminiscing on good
memories therefore I will
make their facial expressions
happy and thoughtful.
Male: Do you remember that day you fell outta my window?
Female: I sure do‒you came jumping out after me.
Male: Well, you fell on the concrete, nearly broke your ass, and you were bleeding all
over the place, and I rushed you out to the hospital, you remember that?
Female: ‒ Yes, I do.
Male: Well, there's something I never told you about that night.
Female: what didn't you tell me?
Male: Well, while you were sitting in the back seat smoking a cigarette you thought
was going to be your last, I was falling deep, deeply in love with you, and I never told
you 'til just now!
[Chorus]
Home, let me come home,
Home is wherever I'm with you
Our home, yes, I am home,
Home is when I’m alone with you
Alabama, Arkansas,
I do love my Ma and Pa
Moats and boats, and waterfalls,
Alleyways, and payphone calls
Home is when I'm alone with you!
Home is when I’m alone with you
In order to display the fact
that the couple are having
a conversation, I will use a
range of medium close
ups/close ups and
extreme close ups. I will
use a medium to display
them next to each other
and to locate where the
conversation is taking
place. Then I will use close
ups to highlight their facial
expressions (which will be
laughing/smiling) and I will
use extreme close ups to
show their mouths as they
speak to words in order to
enhance the meaning.
After having displayed the
conversation/performance
section, when the lyrics go
back to the chorus I will
relate back to the
conceptual part of the
teenagers, and show them
still messing around perhaps
while the sun is going down
in order to show that it’s the
end of the song. And to
relate it to the lyrics of going
home.
For these last few shots I will use a range of different shots
including an extreme wide, medium wide, a medium and
some close ups. I will use these to sort of round up and
draw the video to a close, along with the lyrics.
Linking back to the love idea, I
will make sure the audience
see that the couple is ‘in love’
and they mean what they say
to eachother.
