Easyjet s critical success factor is built around its leading market position in European convenient
airports, low fares, and exceptional customer orientated services. However, the successful growth of
EasyJet has brought it into direct competition with Legacy Carriers and similar Low Cost Airlines.
This Report has been divided into three sections, the first section analyses the business model using
the four box framework: Customer Value Proposition, Profit Formula, Key resources and Key
processes. Easyjet s customer value proposition is based on providing low fares with customer
orientated services using key resources and processes such as standardized fleets and online
booking systems to maintain its cost structure which is a crucial component of its profit formula.
Together with this, to maximise revenue, a number of methods such as sophisticated yield
management techniques are in place.
The second section analyses the dependencies and constraints of the business model. Easyjet s
business continuity to an extent depends on IT systems, Processes at the London Luton Airport and
Markets where customers value low price and quality at the same time. Macroeconomic activities
outside its control such as industry consolidation, weakened consumer confidence, inflationary
pressure, competition, regulatory intervention, airport charges, and the rising cost of fuel are the
constraints that disrupt the viability of their business model.

There Is More Important Than Being A Reader Essay
Nothing is more important to academic achievement than being a good reader. Participation,
motivation, and interest in independent reading are low. Reading is an important part of everyday
life and is imperative to students success in school. Children today are constantly surrounded by
technology, and their readingexperience can be extended by using technology.
While it may be more fascinating for us as adults, children are living in the digital age where
they think technology is a part of their everyday life. There are iPods, computers, iPads, E books,
Leapfrog products, software, blogs; the list is endless. One of the ways to provide potential literacy

Students that are experiencing frustration in reading cannot be expected by the teacher to enjoy
and practice reading as much as a student who enjoys reading. Students that have significant
reading difficulties in the lower grades continue to struggle as they proceed through the upper
grades. Reading disorders affect a student s ability to read and to learn in the different subjects.
For example, good readers tend to be more successful in subject areas such as science and math.
It is imperative for students to learn the reading skills they need to be successful in school and in
life (Melekoglu, 2011). There are two occurring types of reading disorders. The causes, as well as
the treatments of these reading disorders, are diverse. Dyslexia is when a student has difficulty
decoding words and understanding the relationship between spelling patterns and the pronunciation
of words (Snowling Hulme, 2012). Students with dyslexia read slowly and with error. Also,
dyslexia can affect a student s spelling and writing ability. Deficits in phonological coding and
impairments in verbal short term memory are also seen with dyslexia. This decoding is the basis of
learning to read. The other major impairment is in reading comprehension. Students with an
impairment in reading comprehension often can read fluently without difficulty, however are
unable to understand what they have read. Reading comprehension involves accessing meanings of
words and higher order thinking. Making

Caryl Churchill s play Far Away and Jane Taylor s Ubu and the Truth Commission
Caryl Churchill s play Far Away and Jane Taylor s Ubu and the Truth Commission are two plays that
both concern violent, corrupt political systems, but each playwright goes about confronting these
issues in a quite different style. Jane Taylor structures her work with an omniscient perspective that
allows the audience to see the reality of what is happening at all times, while Churchill utilizes a
limited perspective that leaves the audience as unaware of the truth as her characters. These
approaches result in two plays that are very different in character, but at the same time, both of the
works successfully create a similar uneasy, frightening atmosphere ... Show more content on

Though one of the most prominent themes of Far Away is also truth, the audience views the action
of the play from a completely different perspective than in Ubu. From the beginning of the play to
the end, we sense that something is wrong, that something malicious is being covered up, but we
are never fully aware of what that is. We may let our imaginations wander, but in the end we can
never know exactly what the government is doing. Churchill purposely puts us in this position by
showing us fragments of the lives of the characters. These fragments may be important moments,
but they are nonetheless incomplete. Also, they are immersed in the world that characters live in;
in other words, we see everything from the characters points of view. Therefore we see not the
actual truth of the situation but only what Joan, Harper, and Todd believe, and their beliefs are
skewed by the oppressive and deceptive nature of the government as well as by their own self
deceptions.
One manner in which both playwrights explore the theme of truth is through the compliance of the
populations (or parts of the populations) with the existing regimes. In Ubu and the Truth
Commission, this aspect

The Food and Drug Adminstration from Upton SinclairВґs The...
The Jungle by Upton Sinclair was about Jurgis Rudkus who was an immigrarnt from Lithuania
that came to the United States to discover his dreams, hopes, and desires. He took his family to
Chicago to begin a new life. He worked in meatpacking industries that were unsanitary and brutal
amount of hours that resulted into starvation. He was mistreated and realized the American
dream wasn t as easy as it seemed. The book deals with disease, hunger, corruption, crime,
poverty and death. Leave it to me; leave it to me. I will earn more money I will work harder. This
was said by Jurgis frequently because him and Ona always struggled with money and having a job

Jurgis always struggled with money even when Ona was on the verge of dying. Jurgis finally
convinced the women but Ona didn t make it on time because it was too late already. Upton Sinclair
shows you the struggle Jurgis went through with money and it wasn t a fair life for him. When
Jurgis lost both Ona and his son Antanas he was begging and a drunk man gave him a 100
dollar bill, that next day he enters a bar to receive change but the bartender tells him he has to
buy a drink first, once he does the bartender only gives him 97 cents and refuses to give him his
change. Jurgis then gets in a fist fight with him but then is sent to Jail. Once he was a prison he
realized the life of crime was the best way to survive as an immigrant, then Jurgis finally loses his
hope of getting that American dream he always wanted. Jurgis had a good reason to feel like this
because he kept getting turned down by jobs and had nowhere to stay, he was homeless.
The tittle of the book was misleading because I thought it was going to be about nature, but once
you finish the book you realize it s about surviving in the wild . Survival in the United States isn t
easy especially when you are an immigrant. The author did achieve the books purpose because
once the book was published the FDA had a new law on sanitation. The writing the author used was
extremely effective because practically every chapter was about the struggles Jurgis is going

It s Kind Of A Funny Story Analysis
Carried by Hope
To have hope is to be able to see the light amid the darkness. This is a notion shown in Ned
Vizzini s It s Kind of a Funny Story . The protagonist is a teenage boy named Craig, who struggles
with depression. One night, Craig checks himself into a hospital because of his suicidal thoughts.
He then gets placed in the adult psychiatric ward called Six North. The novel It s Kind of a Funny
Story demonstrates that it is crucial to remain positive during hard times as there will be better
days, with the usage of conflicts and characters. This is important because everyone undergoes
hardships at some point in their life and must be able to prevail.
Firstly, the external and internal conflicts in the story, person versus... Show more content on

conflicts in the story, person versus society and person versus self, show the need to be optimistic

Secondly, the characters in the novel, Bobby and Dr. Barney, teach that it is vital to hold on to
hope because everyone has a future, regardless of the present and their past. Bobby shows things
can change for the better with his discovery of his true home. Bobby announces at Six North that

he had. Consequently, he loses hope and wants to kill himself. At Six North, Craig helps Bobby
with a job interview. Through Craig s act of kindness, Bobby learns that his true home is Six

Craig about his personal experience with depression. He eventually reveals to Craig the secret to
depression:

Education vs Prison Funding
Final research paper on Education vs. Prison Funding
The government is responsible for security of its citizens and it is also responsible to provide a
safe socio economic environment to its people, and in this context; Jails and schools are two
important institutions of any society, which need regular monetary support from the government.
Thus government has to be very careful in allocating funds to both of the institutions; as one
punishes the convicts and other makes the people skillful, and wise enough to get a job and earn
money for family. Government has to be very careful in allocation of funds to them, as it is very
critical to decide which institution should be allocated more money. The report, PrisonSpending

It also mentions that in past 30 years the population of the country increased by only 33 percent,
however the number of prisoners increased by around 350 percent. With this data we can assume
the amount of funding required for the functioning of jails. Prisoners are seen as potential threat
for the society; government spends billions annually to keep criminals in jails, to supervise
those on parole and probation. Though the prisoners are also human beings and deserve basic
comforts of life in jail too; but, it is also necessary for the government to instill fear of prison in
minds of all the people and it is not possible when prisoners enjoy the comfort in prisons. Jails
should be dreadful for criminals and this fear should work as a deterrent to commit crime, but
studies have revealed that fear of prison is not a successful deterrent for major part of prison
population. Sometimes they don t have an option but to commit crime, as many of them are not
educated enough to get a decent job and earn money; so they resort to crime to earn a living. A
report titled. Education and Correctional Populations suggests that it can only be stopped, if
prisoners are provided education to make them skillful, and instead of spending money on gyms
and other recreational things for prisoners, jails should spend money on making a good library and
providing technical education to prisoners, so they

Abstract:
Sudden cardiac death (SCD) is major public health problem. SCD continues to be one of the leading
causes of mortality worldwide, with an annual incidence estimated at 250000 to 300000 in the
United States and with the vast majority occurring in the setting of coronary disease and other
cardiac events. I performed the systematic review of journal article ranging from 2006 to 2016 with
appropriate information related to sudden cardiac death and related consequences, the context of
problem and related solution. SCD is so immediate that detailed study should be performed to
understand and to review in better depth with screening evaluation and permanent treatment.
Objective is to summarize published sudden cardiac death information literature and article with
valid information and to understand extend of issue with available options for solution.
Conclusion: The sudden cardiac death is tragic event to happen. Many research had been published
and new content comes nearly every year, but existing research related to it is weak. Future
research efforts should be directed for developing new policy changes and social aspect of this
situation. The prevention

Character Analysis Of Phoenix Jackson
When Eudora Welty finished her studies, she went back to Jackson, Mississippi, she began her
career of writing short stories (Kirszner and Mandell, 2012). According to Kirszner and Mandell
(2012), In A Worn Path, Welty creates a particularly memorable character in the tenacious
Phoenix Jackson, and through her she explores a theme that transcends ace and region (p. 386).
The story depicts an era of time when hardship was common for the black inhabitants during the
1930 s. There were many African Americans who fled the South and moved where they could
survive and receive a proper education. Needless to say, for those African Americans who
remained did not leave had to live a life with people who were prejudice and had to live a life
filled with problems and cruel treatment. There were moments when Phoenix could have turned
around to abandon her mission in the short storyA Worn Path, but she did not because of her love
for her grandson. When Phoenix, the young boy s grandmother, set out to get the medicine for
the young boy, she had traveled the same path many times before; however, this time it was on a
cold day in December. Phoenix made her way with her can ticking in the ice as though it had
sounds as that of a clock ticking, and her cane would be her weapon should the critters approach
her. Furthermore, Phoenix s voice may have very well may halted the animals in their place. As the

Blood Doping In The Athletic World
How far would you go to enhance your athletic ability in a game or competition? Some athletes
are so committed to winning that they will do just about anything to enhance their ability to win.
The pressure that athletes face in the athletic world drives them to do some crazy things to win.
Most people have at least heard of one way to do such enhancements, but have you heard about
the newest wave in performance enhancers that is making its debut? This new trend in the
athletic world is called blood doping. Blood doping is defined as a technique used by athletes to
increase the red blood cell (RBC) count, which will in turn elevate the oxygen level in the blood.
Having this elevation gives the muscles more oxygen to work with, which increases

Reflection On Atonement
The English word Atonement is derived from the two words at onement and denotes a state of
togetherness and agreement between two people. Atonement presupposes two parties that are
estranged, with the act of atonement being the reconciliation of them in a state of harmony. The
theological meaning is the reconciliation between God and His fallen creation, especially between
God and sinful human beings. The centrality of the atonement to Christianityhas influenced our
language, giving us the word crucial which means literally pertaining to a cross. When we say
that anything is crucial we are saying that it is as central to that to which we apply it as the cross
is to Christianity. What Christ did on the cross is the heart of the Christian Faith . Professor Kwesi
Dickson, making a careful exegesis of Paul s teaching on the meaning of the cross and looking
briefly at what he regards as inadequacies in modern views of this event identifies the contribution
of African culture towards our understanding of the atonement. In contrast to the European, The
African regards death in a positive way, as the fulfilment of the earthly life and as the gateway to
ancestorhood. African thought can thus throw light on the meaning of the death of JesusChrist. The
Atonement may be seen as strengthening the community, through Christ the ever living and perfect
ancestor. Just as Paul s understanding of the cross was expressed in the language of his Jewish
background, so now the gospel

The War Of The American Revolution
No conflict in American history is as well known then the American Revolutionary war. War
between the colonies and Great Britain began in April of 1775 and, in a years time, the conflict will
grow into one of the most arduous wars ever fought. After eight years of a hard fought war, the
colonists eventually won their independence over the British. Rooted in the conflict are countless
causes and events that ultimately shaped the country into how it is today. The American Revolution
also influenced Contemporary American society and even on Pluralism. There is no main specific
cause that led to the war. According to one article, the conflict arose from growing tensions between
residents of Great Britain s thirteen North American colonies and the colonial government, which
represented the British crown ( American Revolutionary History, 2009). The numerous causes of
the war were rooted in the colonies demand for independence from Great Britain. Many believed
that the colonies could function independently without Britain s aid; however, Britain s claim to the
land was that the colonies were established to aid Britain and to do what best suited the mother
country. This principle was illustrated in the outcome of the French and Indian war, that lasted
from 1754 to 1763. In the conflict, Britain declared war on France to stop the French from gaining
control of land in the colonies that Britain thought belonged to them. Britain won the conflict;
however, it left them

An Essential Component Of Innate Immunity
Macrophages form an essential component of innate immunity. Activation of macrophages releases
an array of mediators that regulate all aspect of host defense, inflammation and homeostasis [1]. In
unremitting inflammatory conditions like rheumatoid arthritis, persistent antigen stimulation
resulted in macrophage dysfunction which leads to inflamed synovial membrane and joint
destruction [2]. The presence of macrophages at the site of inflammationcan be further evident by
elevated levels of macrophage derived inflammatory cytokines and mediators such as TNF О±, IL
1ОІ, IL 6 and COX 2 [3, 4]. Therefore, inhibition of these inflammatory mediators can helps in

groups. Treatment with PKRE (100 and 200mg/kg) and indomethacin exhibited significant
reduction in paw edema in comparison to control. However, PKRE (100 and 200 mg/kg) were

What Evangelicalism And Fundamentalism Means Throughout...
This semester we have peeled away the layers of what evangelicalism and fundamentalism means
throughout history, especially in our Western culture. I am intrigued with them both and their
very presence in many of our modern day congregations. After visiting Grace Covenant Church
of Austin, Texas, much of the contributions that have been emphasized in books such as The
American Evangelical Story by Douglas Sweeney and American Apocalypse by Matthew
Sutton, I experienced while at Grace. We are a church transformed by grace, connected through
relationships and committed to service is their mission statement and as is everything down in
Texas, they are big! They have a large campus with several buildings on site with the promise of
riding in a golf cart if you have special needs or just need transportation to get to a different
building. I must say, as someone who works with youth, I was impressed as to their commitment
to a separate building for those kids in preschool up through high school. At a time when
autonomy is so important for a young person, having their own space seemed quite impressive.

Improving The Changing Societal Norms Of Operations...
Productivity Check ; Efficiency Check ; Standardization Check ; Reverse Logistics????
Introduction
Manufacturing and Services has undergone many changes and has evolved tremendously over the
years. The evolution is primarily due to dynamic market place which changes according to changing
societal norms. Operations management is the result of interplay between these two, (ever changing
market and society) and in the process, adopted many new trends practices to serve the changing
societal demands. Thus, understanding of Operations in yesteryears is essential to anticipate what
beckons for it in the future. History of Operations
The modern operations origin can be traced to the Industrial Revolution which began around
1770s in England. In its initial years only one person was responsible for production of goods
from start to finish and systems were not very developed; modern machines were not available.
With the advent of machine power, craft production started (skilled workers produce customized
items with simple, flexible tools). It lacked in achieving economies of scale and the process was
too slow.
During 1950s
With the World War II, pressure grew on manufacturing which led to adoption of quantitative
models for different areas of operations management such as project management, forecasting and
inventory.
During 1970 1980s
Quality Revolution: The world economy got liberalized and globalization set in. This onset led to
increased competition among firms

Mean Square Error Essay
The design has been implemented taken into account the analysis of Mean Square Error. It has
been implemented with the help of MATLAB . Adaptive frequency domain least mean square (FD
LMS) algorithm has been proposed as the most hardware efficient multi input multi output
equalization method for compensating large differential mode group delay (DMGD). Except for
hardware complexity, the convergence speed of the adaptive FD LMS algorithm is another
important consideration. Propose a noise power spectral density (PSD) directed adaptive FD LMS

Case Study Of Google s Approach To New Challenges
I have known Michelle since 2008, during which time we have collaborated on a variety of
projects related to the oil and natural gas sector in Trinidad and Tobago, Nigeria and Ghana. An
early initiative typifies the nature of Michelle s approach to new challenges, which approach
flowed through the various interventions we had with a range of government and civil society
stakeholders in developing countries. Michelle has been able to participate in the work of ACES
as a resource person because of her ability to aggregate and extract the benefit of a mix of eclectic
skills, curiosity and adventurism.

the team of software developers while I was on the road, requiring her to make decisions on design

She is more advanced than her peers, with many of whom I have interacted throughout my 38 years
in the oil and gas and related industries. She is a self starter, who identifies and pursues new
ventures in an underserved market. She has proper knowledge of how to build networks and
maintain relationships while converting her knowledge into successful ventures through her
discipline, attitude and sheer persistence.
Two things separate her from many of her generation: first is that she doesn t simply regurgitate
what was taught in school, rather, she is thoughtful in how she analyses the situation and applies
her knowledge.

The Impact Of Emission Trading
My business idea is to create a personal emission trading system, which will help governments to
meet their emission targets and it motivate the citizens to live an ecofriendly life style. Industry,

grows, it will be one of the largest industry in the world. In Europe, the industry is worth 11 billion

Harvey s The Beautiful Bones And Profile A Serial Killer
In the sick minds of those who murder again and again, rape, pain and death are twisted into a
passion to kill. Otherwise known as an ordinary individual, serial killers turn to violence and
death in search of power over others, and to explore their fatal addiction to their immoral thrills.
Even though these horrific crimes of a serial killer repulse most individuals, there is still a
strange fascination when it comes to these deadly killers. I chose the movie The Lovely Bones
to profile a serial killer. In the movie we do not really get a background of Mr. Harvey childhood,
but in the book we find out that Mr. Harvey s mother was a desperate woman who taught Harvey
to shoplift and even rob victims. His father has an abusive personality... Show more content on

Victor Martinez s Parrot In The Oven
The title of this book is called Parrot in the Oven and is an extended metaphor that means there is a
parrot who is complaining about being too hot in the shade when he is actually in the oven.
Meaning, Manny used to be ignorant, but he no longer is because of the events he went through.
Victor Martinez, the author of Parrot in the Oven is a Bildungsroman because the character Manny
grows up throughout the story by learning through racism, social hierarchy, seeing gang activity,
and watching Eddie go down the wrong path. Manny will begin to realize that he wants to change
his life around.
Manny learns his first lesson through hierarchy and racism. Manny watched a boxing match
between a Mexican and a black boy, and it is extremely racially intense. At the end of the chapter
Manny had to take off Lencho s gloves because nobody else would do it for him. Manny said,

realizes that Eddie is starting to pick up character traits like his father and Manny cannot turn out
to be like his own dad. Manny knows that he does not want to throw away his life so he turns it
around because he knows what the outcome will be if he does not change.
In conclusion, this novel is a Bildungsroman, a coming of age novel where the main character

How to Teach a Dyslexic Child
Dyslexia is now a widely accepted condition that is prevalent in many classrooms. However,
defining dyslexia is difficult as it can be described as a continuum. Although experts largely agree
that dyslexia is identifiable as a developmental difficulty of language learning and cognition (Rose,
2009). Dyslexiacan pose a host of difficulties for the child and can make daily activities and school
life very challenging. The NCLD (2013) states children with dyslexia may have difficulties with
accurate and fluent spelling, accurate and fluent written expression, phonological awareness,
memory, verbal processing speed and information processing. As teachers it is vital that we are

Therefore, the teacher should ensure the child is focused before giving instructions and the tasks
should be broken down into small easily remembered pieces of information (Hodge, 2000). The
child should be seated where communication can be made easier and information should be
repeated if needed. Visual cues may need to be provided along with the verbal to aid the child in
processing the verbal information. The child with dyslexia can have difficulty with perseverance
to task so providing them with diagrams and flow charts depicting the task structure and posters
reminding the child of steps to follow to complete the task can help. The teacher should ensure
activities are not information overload for the child making the task impossible (DENI, 2011;
Gathercole and Alloway, 2008). Also ensure that tasks are not lengthy sequences but meaningful
chunks (DENI, 2011, p.100). Distractions should be reduced whilst the child is working for if a
child is distracted or interrupted while using working memory the process is lost and the child
cannot resume from where they were interrupted (Gathercole and Alloway, 2008).The plenary
should also be used to summarise main teaching points so that the learning is more likely to go
from short term to long term memory.
Within the Primary School setting the teaching of phonics is a significant part of the curriculum
(PMBNI, 2009).

Analysis of The Titanic, by James Cameron Essay
Within the context of film industry, the film Titanic by James Cameron belongs to epic romance
/ disaster genre. The film, released in 1997, was a global box office hit because the director
provided equal importance to history, fiction and romance. To be specific, one can see that the film
s plot is based upon the history of RMS Titanic. On the other side, the main characters including the
protagonist and the heroine (Jack Dawson and Rose DeWitt Bukater/Dawson) are fictional
characters. Besides, the element of romance between the main characters (Jack and Rose) is the film
s main attraction. Thesis statement: The critical analysis of the film Titanic proves that the

Within this context, the director made use of flashback technique to unearth the romantic story of
the lovers in the film. To be specific, the plot moves from present condition (say, 1996) to past
(say, 1912) and to present (1996). In the opening scene, the director portrays the effort of Brock
Lovett (say, a treasure hunter) to unearth the secret behind a necklace sunk with RMS Titanicin
1912. Gradually, the director portrays the love affair between Rose and Jack. In the end, Rose
drops the necklace into the Ocean and returns. The film ends with a fictional reunion between
the lovers. B. Acting The film s casting is related to historical and fictional characters. For
instance, some of real travelers in the RMS Titanic are portrayed in the film. This is helpful for
the viewers to identify the historical element of the film. On the other side, the protagonist and the
heroine are fictional characters. For instance, Jack and Rose, (the protagonist and his lady love)
are fictional characters who inculcated the element of romance in the film. One can see that the
director s decision to caste Leonardo DiCaprio as Jack Dawson (say, the protagonist) is one of the
elements behind the commercial success of the film. Besides, DiCaprio s youthful exuberance suits
his character in the film. On the other side, Kate Winslet s character as Rose DeWitt Bukater is apt

Ice cream is rather a complex mixture of different particles interacting with each other to create
unique properties of the food. The first component ice crystals are formed when water in ice

many minute sized crystals. The texture of ice cream with many smaller ice crystals is better
than that with fewer big crystals. Also, by reducing the amount of water in the base that will be

There were many religions/philosophy during Medieval Japan. There were eight religions that
affected Ancient Japan and their development. Christianity, Buddhism, Shintoism, are three of the
eight that has shaped Japan s history and as well as examples of religions that we have
researched. Christianity didn t really affect Japan up until the medieval era ended and wasn t
brought over until European peoples traveled to Japan. That leaves Buddhism and Shintoism.
Shintoism is known as their first and official religion. No one really knows where the origin of
Shinto came from but it impacted the development of historical Japan. A tradition that involves the
Shinto shrine is after the birth of a baby, it is named after three days, then after about a month old,
and the baby is brought to the Shinto shrine to officially become the member of the community.
Shinto was also known as the way of the gods and those who worshipped Shintoism seldom asked
about existing with the nature or who the world was formed. In Shinto, there was something
known as kami, or god(s); though in some cases kami can also be translated into appearance where
it can be human, nature, or an unmovable object. The men and women were devoted to the kami.
The kami is believed to have formed the earth and has a relationship with nature. Worshipping
Shintoism was rather simple and a family affair; meaning that you were to worship with your
family at the right place (which is usually in shrines) and time, together.

Why Is Finitude Important In Malcolm X s Life
Human beings are not as perfect as we d like to believe. We are constrained by our abilities,
actions, knowledge, and death to live a life that can never reach its full potential. This concept of
finitude plays a significant role in Malcolm X s life and autobiography. X becomes aware of this
aspect of the human condition at a very early age and it seems that he acts with this idea almost
always in the back of his mind. Malcolm Xdoes not live a conservative or docile life. He is
determined to live his life to the fullest and by the end of the book, his only goal is to spread his
thoughts and ideas as much as he can before his time on this Earth is up.
We are first acquainted with finitude on the mere second page of this book. While we as
humans like to believe that we will live long and prosperous lives, Malcolm X seems to
understand the true nature of our existence before he is even able to go to grade school. With
constant threats from the KKK and several violent deaths of African Americans in the
community, it was near impossible for him to live as deluded as several of other did. His father had
also accepted the finite features of our existence and began to risk his life and dedicate himself to
civil rights. X realizes that he was likely to follow in his father s steps by stating It has always been

Implementation Of The Dayton Agreement
This paper analyzes the Dayton Peace Accords initialed in Dayton, Ohio, and later signed in Paris.
The Dayton agreement was an augmentation of and or arguably a follow up result of the
previously pursued peace efforts and processes (Church, para 1), this paper, however, will only
focus on the negotiation process that took place in the US, which resulted in attainment of the
Dayton Agreement. The negotiation process will be analyzed within a combined framework of
Habeeb s Formula Detail Approach and mediationdetailed by Pruitt and Kim, both of which will
serve as the primary and overarching basis for this analysis. However, relevant course materials
will be used as deemed necessary while analyzing various aspects of the negotiation process such
as the strategies employed by the negotiating parties, and the complexities special to this case,
which expanded the mediating role of the US to tackle important barriers in order to reach an
agreement.
The Negotiation Framework: Habeeb reviews the literature on the common processes used in
negotiations and thus agreeing with Zartman, advocates the formal detail approach. Zartman s
approach is well structured and parsimonious. The concession and convergence school of analysis
developed the offer counteroffer (Habbeeb 27) structure for the negotiation process. The approach
is grounded in the notion that the negotiating parties make demands, propose new solution, make
concessions, and evaluate concession behavior and reactions

Freshly fallen ash particles can have acid coatings which may cause irritation to the lungs and
eyes. This acid coating is rapidly removed by rain, which may then pollute local water supplies.
Acidic ash can also damage vegetation, leading to crop failure. People can be more fearful of
the health hazards of volcanic ash and gases than of the risk of dying from more major hazards,
such as pyroclastic flows. However, ashfalls can affect very wide areas around volcanoes and
may cause major disruption to normal living.Medical services can expect an increase in the
number of patients with respiratory and eye symptoms during and after an ashfall event. Effects
of ash on health may be divided into several categories: respiratory effects, eye symptoms, and
skin irritation. In some eruptions, ash particles can be so fine that they are breathed deep into the
lungs. With high exposure, even healthy individuals will experience chest discomfort with
increased coughing and irritation. In rare circumstances, long term exposure to fine volcanic ash
may lead to serious lung diseases. For these diseases to occur, the ash must be very fine, contain
crystalline silica (for the disease silicosis to occur) and the people must be exposed to the ash in
high concentrations over many years. Exposure to crystalline silica in volcanic ash is typically of
short duration (days to weeks), and studies suggest that the recommended exposure limits (similar
in most countries) can be exceeded for short periods of time for the general population. People
suffering from asthma or other lung problems such as bronchitis and emphysema, and severe heart
problems are most at risk. The development of respiratory symptoms from the inhalation of
volcanic ash depends on a number of factors. These include the concentration of particles in the air,
the proportion of fine particles in the ash, the frequency and duration of exposure, the

Overcoming Adversity In Chaim Potok s The Chosen
Horace once stated that adversity has the effect of eliciting talents which in prosperous
circumstances would have lain dormant. His assertion highlights how adversity can help one s
character development and it can bring out one s hidden talents. Those who go through life without
having any adversities will not understand the problems of those around them and the world.
Because of this, it is important to go through hardships in order to understand, manage, and solve
them. When one faces adversities, one s true character and strength is uncovered. One will
eventually face adversities: financial/political hardships, misfortunes, or disasters. They are
inevitable and when they occur, one has to figure out solutions and ways to overcome... Show more

Many talented people come from comfortable situations. Sometimes struggle can expose
weaknesses in character and can bring out deep character flaws that would have been hidden.
For instance, many who have had traumatizing childhoods often turn out for the worse in the
future. These people turn to illegal drugs, abuse, or begin to develop mental illnesses. However,
although this is true, a majority of these people eventually get their lives back on track. Beloved
actor, Robert Downey Jr., was once a drug addict. At the age of six his dad allowed him to try
marijuana, which created an emotional bond between the two. This led to Downey Jr.
becoming a daily drinker. As a rising star, Downey Jr. was arrested many times for drug offences
and was in and out of jail. As a result, his career could no longer progress forward because many
filmmakers would not hire the addict. The turning point of his drug reliant life was when Susan
Downey, his wife, threatened him with an ultimatum. In addition to threats of ending the
marriage, Downey Jr. joined a 12 step program, yoga, meditation, and therapy to keep him sober.
Now, he is one of the most loved superheroes, Iron Man, and his fight for a better life has inspired
many. Downey Jr. s journey not only presents the idea of how adversity can change one s life
(positively), but also that those who have been in the ditch must fight their way back up. To be

Euthanasia Should Not Be Legalized
The thought of losing a loved one can be extremely devastating. Deciding whether someone who
is trying to fight out the pain has to die, or even if they do wish to die is even more devastating.
Euthanasia shouldn t be legalized because the assumption that patients should have a right to die
would impose on doctors a duty to kill, there s no right to be killed but there are danger of being
killed. We could never control it because of the different ways people think and the way they view
what s right or wrong.
Euthanasia is the intentional killing by actually killing the person or leaving the person alone
without treatment till he or she dies on their own. Also known as mercy killing .There are two
types of euthanasia, active and passive. Passive Euthanasia being the ending of someone s life by
deliberate withholding of drugs or other life sustaining treatment. Active Euthanasia is the act of
ending a life in which is to cause the patient s death in a single act. Some places use this on
patients who have being diagnosed with a terminal illness for a long time and show no
improvement in health, the patient may experience sever amount of pain. Two way that people
who view this situation is on one side they would think that since there were no signs of getting
better they would attempt to relieve their pain by killing. Other would want the patient to keep
being treated I hope of improvement. If the patient had the right to die for some people it would
become a duty to die by

The Democracy And Human Rights
For as long as it has existed, the Chinese government has been power hungry, They have limited
the freedom of citizens so that they can make the decisions themselves, such as not allowing
citizens to vote for government officials. Instead, officials are simply appointed by others in
government. Citizens want reform, protests have occurred across the country for change to a
democratic system so that citizens can finally elect the people that represent them. This would give
citizens more power, but as result, take some away from the government, which they do not want.
The Chinese government needs to listen to their citizens and change to a democratic system to
give them more freedom and make them happier. The status of democracy and human rights in
China is not where it could be. Both are limited in the following ways. According to Noah
Berlatsky, China s government is authoritarian and undemocratic. Leaders are for the most part
appointed and not elected. Media in China are regulated, and protest against the government is
strictly limited (Berlatsky). This means that the citizens of China do not have the ability to
influence who is elected. The already appointed government officials decide and appoint others.
The Chinese government also strictly limits protesting. There is a popular practice known as
Falun Gong, which includes exercises and the study of several books. This was founded by Li
Hongzhi in 1992, and by 1998, it had 70 million practitioners. The Chinese

Explanatory factors of bank dividend policy: revisited
John Theis and Amitabh S. Dutta
D. Abbott Turner College of Business, Columbus State University, Columbus, Georgia, USA
Abstract
Purpose The purpose of this paper is to examine the Dickens et al. model of bank holding company
dividend policy. They identified five explanatory factors in a sample of bank holding companies
(BHCs). Banking companies typically pay larger dividends and more often than industrial firms.
Investors often look at the dividends as being important return variables. Design/methodology
/approach In this study, a sample of 99 firms with 2006 data ... Show more content on

They report the market value of the firm first increases as insider holdings increase from 0 to 5
per cent. As insider holdings increase from 5 to 25 per cent, the market value of the firm
decreases. As insider holdings increase beyond 25 per cent, the market value of the firms again
increases. They argue their results are evidence of managerial entrenchment. While lower and
higher levels of insider holdings support the notion that insider holdings lead to lower agency
costs, the middle level of ownership is a range over which managerial control seems to be linked
with a significantly lower market price of equity. The Morck et al. (1988) non linearity results
may be sample and/or time dependent. However, Wruck (1989) confirms the range of
entrenchment reported by Morck et al. She finds in a sample of firms announcing a private equity
sale firm value increases significantly for firms with low and high levels of insider holdings. Her
findings confirm that, in a middle range of insider holdings, firm value decreases significantly. In a
study tracking the decline of banking in the USA, Gorton and Rosen (1995), find a non linear
relation between insider shareholdings and risk taking in lending activity. Using a sample of 458
BHCs, they present a model illustrating how managerial ownership of banks can lead to
entrenchment, resulting in management activities that reduce firm value. Gorton and Rosen s
findings support the non linear effect

Examples Of Voyeurism In The Truman Show
In the film The Truman Show directed by Peter Weir, the theme of voyeurism is portrayed by a
variety of film techniques. This is particularly prominent in the closing scene, the opening scene
and when Truman is reunited with his Father. In these scenes Peter Weir, the director, uses the
visual techniques of varying camera angles and zoom, the editing techniques of masking and cross
cutting and the aural techniques of diegetic and non diegetic sound to illustrate the theme of
voyeurism.
The theme of voyeurism is particularly prominent in the final scene of The Truman Show, where
Truman finally escapes the fictional world he is trapped in. Weir uses the editing effect of cross
cutting and the visual technique of a deep focus to help show the theme. Right before Truman
leaves The Truman Show Weir cuts between Christof, Truman and the... Show more content on

The aural techniques of diegetic and non diegetic sound and the visual technique of zoom are
used by Weir in this scene. When Truman is walking towards his Father, Weir cuts to Christof
and his production team. In this cut, a pianist can be scene playing the piano, who is providing
background music for the scene. This is important as this shows the audience that all the
background music that appeared non diegetic is actually diegetic. Christof controls the music
being played in The Truman Show to provide a more pleasurable experience for the viewers of
the show. When Truman goes to embrace his Father in the scene, the camera slowly zooms in to
Truman s face to show his expression. This zoom on Truman s face is done to enhance the viewers
experience while watching The Truman Show. In the scene Weir shows that sound that appeared
non diegetic was actually diegetic and zooms in on Truman s face when he his embracing his
Father. The shows the theme of voyeurism as these are done to enhance the viewers experience is

A Murder In Safrax
The Maid
Everything stood still in the kingdom, and peace was easy to find. Safrax was a magical place
and everyone had a purpose within the city walls. The castle had about one hundred and fifty
personnel and the city consisted of about eight thousand people. The city streets were always
packed and the markets full of food. You could probably say though, that a good portion of the
men didn t eat anything because their bellies were always full of mead. This is what the kingdom
was known for, their strong noble men and the wonderful mead that washes worries away. It did
just that until today. The day that a maid was murdered.
William Henry used to folly in detective business but resided to blacksmithing a few years back.
It s something his father taught him. His old apprentice Walter Hayes is the handyman at the
forge. They mostly get business because of Williams brains. If people have a problem with
anything they come and ask him how to solve it. By now the town crier was running the streets
screaming, Deceased maid in the castle! Cause unknown! This was unheard of. A murder in
Safrax cannot be possible. Or is it? William took no time to gather his things. He didn t stop
detective business because he didn t care for it anymore, but there were no cases to solve. William

Bradford And Lowry Assay Lab Report
The Bradford and Lowry assay are two color changing proteins with similar processes. Color
changes of the solution can be measured using a device called a spectrometer. In lab, the two
assays can be used to determine the amount of protein in a solution. This can be done in an
experiment by reacting a specific reagent with amino acids or peptide bonds present in the proteins.
This produces a color change in the solution depending on the amount of peptide or amino acid
reactions with the reagents. This color change can then be measured using a device called a
spectrophotometer.
The Bradford assay is a one step process, which involves the Coomassie dye reacting with the
amino acids arginine and lysine. It under goes changings in acidic conditions ... Show more content

The type of amino acid sample affected the ability of the reagents to react with the peptide bonds
and amino acids. It also affected the amount of amino acids and peptide bonds in the protein. Each
of the four proteins used in the experiment had the same concentration, which was reflected in the
accuracy of the standards. In relation to the Bradford reagent, the amount of reactions that occurred
depended on the amount of arginine and lysine amino acids present in the protein. In relation to the
Lowry reagent, the amount of reactions that occurred depended on the amount of tryptophan and
tyrosine amino acids in the protein and the number of peptide bonds linking the amino acids. The
absorbance measured in the spectrophotometer was affected also by the differences in amino acid
compositions and the ability of the reagents to react as a result. Since all the protein standards had
the same concentration of 0.5 mg/mL, it allowed for the accurate comparison of the absorbance,
mean, and standard deviation of each of the

Participation, motivation, and interest in independent reading are low. Reading is an important part of everyday life and is imperative to students success in school. Children today are constantly surrounded by technology, and their readingexperience can be extended by using technology. While it may be more fascinating for us as adults, children are living in the digital age where they think technology is a part of their everyday life. Students that are experiencing frustration in reading cannot be expected by the teacher to enjoy and practice reading as much as a student who enjoys reading. Students that have significant reading difficulties in the lower grades continue to struggle as they proceed through the upper grades. Reading disorders affect a student s ability to read and to learn in the different subjects. For example, good readers tend to be more successful in subject areas such as science and math. It is imperative for students to learn the reading skills they need to be successful in school and in life (Melekoglu, 2011). There are two occurring types of reading disorders. The causes, as well as the treatments of these reading disorders, are diverse. Dyslexia is when a student has difficulty decoding words and understanding the relationship between spelling patterns and the pronunciation of words (Snowling Hulme, 2012). Students with dyslexia read slowly and with error. Also, dyslexia can affect a student s spelling and writing ability. Deficits in phonological coding and impairments in verbal short term memory are also seen with dyslexia. This decoding is the basis of learning to read. The other major impairment is in reading comprehension. Students with an impairment in reading comprehension often can read fluently without difficulty, however are unable to understand what they have read. Reading comprehension involves accessing meanings of words and higher order thinking. Making ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Caryl Churchill’s play Far Away and Jane Taylorв Ђ™s Ubu and... Caryl Churchill s play Far Away and Jane Taylor s Ubu and the Truth Commission Caryl Churchill s play Far Away and Jane Taylor s Ubu and the Truth Commission are two plays that both concern violent, corrupt political systems, but each playwright goes about confronting these issues in a quite different style. Jane Taylor structures her work with an omniscient perspective that allows the audience to see the reality of what is happening at all times, while Churchill utilizes a limited perspective that leaves the audience as unaware of the truth as her characters. These approaches result in two plays that are very different in character, but at the same time, both of the works successfully create a similar uneasy, frightening atmosphere ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Though one of the most prominent themes of Far Away is also truth, the audience views the action of the play from a completely different perspective than in Ubu. From the beginning of the play to the end, we sense that something is wrong, that something malicious is being covered up, but we are never fully aware of what that is. We may let our imaginations wander, but in the end we can never know exactly what the government is doing. Churchill purposely puts us in this position by showing us fragments of the lives of the characters. These fragments may be important moments, but they are nonetheless incomplete. Also, they are immersed in the world that characters live in; in other words, we see everything from the characters points of view. Therefore we see not the actual truth of the situation but only what Joan, Harper, and Todd believe, and their beliefs are skewed by the oppressive and deceptive nature of the government as well as by their own self deceptions. One manner in which both playwrights explore the theme of truth is through the compliance of the populations (or parts of the populations) with the existing regimes. In Ubu and the Truth Commission, this aspect ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Jurgis finally convinced the women but Ona didn t make it on time because it was too late already. Upton Sinclair shows you the struggle Jurgis went through with money and it wasn t a fair life for him. When Jurgis lost both Ona and his son Antanas he was begging and a drunk man gave him a 100 dollar bill, that next day he enters a bar to receive change but the bartender tells him he has to buy a drink first, once he does the bartender only gives him 97 cents and refuses to give him his change. Jurgis then gets in a fist fight with him but then is sent to Jail. Once he was a prison he realized the life of crime was the best way to survive as an immigrant, then Jurgis finally loses his hope of getting that American dream he always wanted. Jurgis had a good reason to feel like this because he kept getting turned down by jobs and had nowhere to stay, he was homeless. The tittle of the book was misleading because I thought it was going to be about nature, but once you finish the book you realize it s about surviving in the wild . Survival in the United States isn t easy especially when you are an immigrant. The author did achieve the books purpose because once the book was published the FDA had a new law on sanitation. Thus government has to be very careful in allocating funds to both of the institutions; as one punishes the convicts and other makes the people skillful, and wise enough to get a job and earn money for family. It also mentions that in past 30 years the population of the country increased by only 33 percent, however the number of prisoners increased by around 350 percent. With this data we can assume the amount of funding required for the functioning of jails. Prisoners are seen as potential threat for the society; government spends billions annually to keep criminals in jails, to supervise those on parole and probation. Though the prisoners are also human beings and deserve basic comforts of life in jail too; but, it is also necessary for the government to instill fear of prison in minds of all the people and it is not possible when prisoners enjoy the comfort in prisons. Jails should be dreadful for criminals and this fear should work as a deterrent to commit crime, but studies have revealed that fear of prison is not a successful deterrent for major part of prison population. Sometimes they don t have an option but to commit crime, as many of them are not educated enough to get a decent job and earn money; so they resort to crime to earn a living. A report titled. Education and Correctional Populations suggests that it can only be stopped, if prisoners are provided education to make them skillful, and instead of spending money on gyms and other recreational things for prisoners, jails should spend money on making a good library and providing technical education to prisoners, so they ... • 9. Character Analysis Of Phoenix Jackson When Eudora Welty finished her studies, she went back to Jackson, Mississippi, she began her career of writing short stories (Kirszner and Mandell, 2012). According to Kirszner and Mandell (2012), In A Worn Path, Welty creates a particularly memorable character in the tenacious Phoenix Jackson, and through her she explores a theme that transcends ace and region (p. 386). • 13. Reflection On Atonement The English word Atonement is derived from the two words at onement and denotes a state of togetherness and agreement between two people. Atonement presupposes two parties that are estranged, with the act of atonement being the reconciliation of them in a state of harmony. The theological meaning is the reconciliation between God and His fallen creation, especially between God and sinful human beings. The centrality of the atonement to Christianityhas influenced our language, giving us the word crucial which means literally pertaining to a cross. When we say that anything is crucial we are saying that it is as central to that to which we apply it as the cross is to Christianity. What Christ did on the cross is the heart of the Christian Faith . Professor Kwesi Dickson, making a careful exegesis of Paul s teaching on the meaning of the cross and looking briefly at what he regards as inadequacies in modern views of this event identifies the contribution of African culture towards our understanding of the atonement. In contrast to the European, The African regards death in a positive way, as the fulfilment of the earthly life and as the gateway to ancestorhood. African thought can thus throw light on the meaning of the death of JesusChrist. The Atonement may be seen as strengthening the community, through Christ the ever living and perfect ancestor. War between the colonies and Great Britain began in April of 1775 and, in a years time, the conflict will grow into one of the most arduous wars ever fought. After eight years of a hard fought war, the colonists eventually won their independence over the British. Rooted in the conflict are countless causes and events that ultimately shaped the country into how it is today. The American Revolution also influenced Contemporary American society and even on Pluralism. There is no main specific cause that led to the war. According to one article, the conflict arose from growing tensions between residents of Great Britain s thirteen North American colonies and the colonial government, which represented the British crown ( American Revolutionary History, 2009). The numerous causes of the war were rooted in the colonies demand for independence from Great Britain. Many believed that the colonies could function independently without Britain s aid; however, Britain s claim to the land was that the colonies were established to aid Britain and to do what best suited the mother country. This principle was illustrated in the outcome of the French and Indian war, that lasted from 1754 to 1763. In the conflict, Britain declared war on France to stop the French from gaining control of land in the colonies that Britain thought belonged to them. Activation of macrophages releases an array of mediators that regulate all aspect of host defense, inflammation and homeostasis [1]. In unremitting inflammatory conditions like rheumatoid arthritis, persistent antigen stimulation resulted in macrophage dysfunction which leads to inflamed synovial membrane and joint destruction [2]. The presence of macrophages at the site of inflammationcan be further evident by elevated levels of macrophage derived inflammatory cytokines and mediators such as TNF О±, IL 1ОІ, IL 6 and COX 2 [3, 4]. This semester we have peeled away the layers of what evangelicalism and fundamentalism means throughout history, especially in our Western culture. I am intrigued with them both and their very presence in many of our modern day congregations. After visiting Grace Covenant Church of Austin, Texas, much of the contributions that have been emphasized in books such as The American Evangelical Story by Douglas Sweeney and American Apocalypse by Matthew Sutton, I experienced while at Grace. We are a church transformed by grace, connected through relationships and committed to service is their mission statement and as is everything down in Texas, they are big! They have a large campus with several buildings on site with the promise of riding in a golf cart if you have special needs or just need transportation to get to a different building. I must say, as someone who works with youth, I was impressed as to their commitment to a separate building for those kids in preschool up through high school. Introduction Manufacturing and Services has undergone many changes and has evolved tremendously over the years. The evolution is primarily due to dynamic market place which changes according to changing societal norms. Operations management is the result of interplay between these two, (ever changing market and society) and in the process, adopted many new trends practices to serve the changing societal demands. Thus, understanding of Operations in yesteryears is essential to anticipate what beckons for it in the future. History of Operations The modern operations origin can be traced to the Industrial Revolution which began around 1770s in England. In its initial years only one person was responsible for production of goods from start to finish and systems were not very developed; modern machines were not available. With the advent of machine power, craft production started (skilled workers produce customized items with simple, flexible tools). It lacked in achieving economies of scale and the process was too slow. During 1950s With the World War II, pressure grew on manufacturing which led to adoption of quantitative models for different areas of operations management such as project management, forecasting and inventory. There were eight religions that affected Ancient Japan and their development. Christianity, Buddhism, Shintoism, are three of the eight that has shaped Japan s history and as well as examples of religions that we have researched. Christianity didn t really affect Japan up until the medieval era ended and wasn t brought over until European peoples traveled to Japan. That leaves Buddhism and Shintoism. Shintoism is known as their first and official religion. No one really knows where the origin of Shinto came from but it impacted the development of historical Japan. A tradition that involves the Shinto shrine is after the birth of a baby, it is named after three days, then after about a month old, and the baby is brought to the Shinto shrine to officially become the member of the community. Shinto was also known as the way of the gods and those who worshipped Shintoism seldom asked about existing with the nature or who the world was formed. In Shinto, there was something known as kami, or god(s); though in some cases kami can also be translated into appearance where it can be human, nature, or an unmovable object. The men and women were devoted to the kami. The kami is believed to have formed the earth and has a relationship with nature. Worshipping Shintoism was rather simple and a family affair; meaning that you were to worship with your family at the right place (which is usually in shrines) and time, together. ... • 36. Why Is Finitude Important In Malcolm X s Life Human beings are not as perfect as we d like to believe. We are constrained by our abilities, actions, knowledge, and death to live a life that can never reach its full potential. This concept of finitude plays a significant role in Malcolm X s life and autobiography. X becomes aware of this aspect of the human condition at a very early age and it seems that he acts with this idea almost always in the back of his mind. Malcolm Xdoes not live a conservative or docile life. He is determined to live his life to the fullest and by the end of the book, his only goal is to spread his thoughts and ideas as much as he can before his time on this Earth is up. We are first acquainted with finitude on the mere second page of this book. While we as humans like to believe that we will live long and prosperous lives, Malcolm X seems to understand the true nature of our existence before he is even able to go to grade school. With constant threats from the KKK and several violent deaths of African Americans in the community, it was near impossible for him to live as deluded as several of other did. His father had also accepted the finite features of our existence and began to risk his life and dedicate himself to civil rights. • 38. Implementation Of The Dayton Agreement This paper analyzes the Dayton Peace Accords initialed in Dayton, Ohio, and later signed in Paris. The Dayton agreement was an augmentation of and or arguably a follow up result of the previously pursued peace efforts and processes (Church, para 1), this paper, however, will only focus on the negotiation process that took place in the US, which resulted in attainment of the Dayton Agreement. The negotiation process will be analyzed within a combined framework of Habeeb s Formula Detail Approach and mediationdetailed by Pruitt and Kim, both of which will serve as the primary and overarching basis for this analysis. However, relevant course materials will be used as deemed necessary while analyzing various aspects of the negotiation process such as the strategies employed by the negotiating parties, and the complexities special to this case, which expanded the mediating role of the US to tackle important barriers in order to reach an agreement. The Negotiation Framework: Habeeb reviews the literature on the common processes used in negotiations and thus agreeing with Zartman, advocates the formal detail approach. Zartman s approach is well structured and parsimonious. The concession and convergence school of analysis developed the offer counteroffer (Habbeeb 27) structure for the negotiation process. The approach is grounded in the notion that the negotiating parties make demands, propose new solution, make concessions, and evaluate concession behavior and reactions ... Freshly fallen ash particles can have acid coatings which may cause irritation to the lungs and eyes. This acid coating is rapidly removed by rain, which may then pollute local water supplies. Acidic ash can also damage vegetation, leading to crop failure. People can be more fearful of the health hazards of volcanic ash and gases than of the risk of dying from more major hazards, such as pyroclastic flows. However, ashfalls can affect very wide areas around volcanoes and may cause major disruption to normal living.Medical services can expect an increase in the number of patients with respiratory and eye symptoms during and after an ashfall event. Effects of ash on health may be divided into several categories: respiratory effects, eye symptoms, and skin irritation. In some eruptions, ash particles can be so fine that they are breathed deep into the lungs. With high exposure, even healthy individuals will experience chest discomfort with increased coughing and irritation. In rare circumstances, long term exposure to fine volcanic ash may lead to serious lung diseases. For these diseases to occur, the ash must be very fine, contain crystalline silica (for the disease silicosis to occur) and the people must be exposed to the ash in high concentrations over many years. Exposure to crystalline silica in volcanic ash is typically of short duration (days to weeks), and studies suggest that the recommended exposure limits (similar in most countries) can be exceeded for short periods of time for the general population. People suffering from asthma or other lung problems such as bronchitis and emphysema, and severe heart problems are most at risk. The development of respiratory symptoms from the inhalation of volcanic ash depends on a number of factors. These include the concentration of particles in the air, the proportion of fine particles in the ash, the frequency and duration of exposure, the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Citizens want reform, protests have occurred across the country for change to a democratic system so that citizens can finally elect the people that represent them. The Chinese government needs to listen to their citizens and change to a democratic system to give them more freedom and make them happier. Leaders are for the most part appointed and not elected. Media in China are regulated, and protest against the government is strictly limited (Berlatsky). This means that the citizens of China do not have the ability to influence who is elected. The already appointed government officials decide and appoint others. Dutta D. Abbott Turner College of Business, Columbus State University, Columbus, Georgia, USA Abstract Purpose The purpose of this paper is to examine the Dickens et al. model of bank holding company dividend policy. They identified five explanatory factors in a sample of bank holding companies (BHCs). Banking companies typically pay larger dividends and more often than industrial firms. Investors often look at the dividends as being important return variables. Design/methodology /approach In this study, a sample of 99 firms with 2006 data ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They report the market value of the firm first increases as insider holdings increase from 0 to 5 per cent. As insider holdings increase from 5 to 25 per cent, the market value of the firm decreases. As insider holdings increase beyond 25 per cent, the market value of the firms again increases. They argue their results are evidence of managerial entrenchment. While lower and higher levels of insider holdings support the notion that insider holdings lead to lower agency costs, the middle level of ownership is a range over which managerial control seems to be linked with a significantly lower market price of equity. The Morck et al. (1988) non linearity results may be sample and/or time dependent. However, Wruck (1989) confirms the range of entrenchment reported by Morck et al. She finds in a sample of firms announcing a private equity sale firm value increases significantly for firms with low and high levels of insider holdings. Her findings confirm that, in a middle range of insider holdings, firm value decreases significantly. In a study tracking the decline of banking in the USA, Gorton and Rosen (1995), find a non linear relation between insider shareholdings and risk taking in lending activity. Using a sample of 458 BHCs, they present a model illustrating how managerial ownership of banks can lead to entrenchment, resulting in management activities that reduce firm value.
