Moses Cooper In A Separate Peace
Moses is an ordinary farmer, and is one of the leader in the revolutionary activities. He is a very
opinionated man and likes to argue. He is proud of his Protestant heritage as a people of the Book,
and he scolds his son Adam for superstitious behavior, telling him the Coopers have been proud of
their literate and educated tradition. Moses helps a lot of people especially his neighbor Joseph
Simmons. Moses helped Simmons draft the statement on the rights of manas a basis for negotiating
with the British for independence. Moses is hard on his son Adam until he hears that Adam
does not think that he loves him. Hate him? My father exploded of all the crazy notions, of all
idiotic ideas. There is a boy, my first born son why would I hate him. (Page 45) He tells him he
is too young for the Committee but at the last minute allows his son to sign up for the muster on
the Common because he sees in Adam s eyes that he will lose his son if he does not recognize
him as a man in front of the other men. In the book, Moses Cooper is portrayed as a very
opinionated, religious, and an enraged man but behind all of this he is a very emotional person.
This is proven as the book reaches The Morning, section of the book. In the beginning Moses had
no sympathy towards Adam and always looked at him as if he was a boy, but... Show more content

Cooper is Moses wife and Adam s mother. Sarah is a very quiet women and is the peacemaker in
the family. She is known for her cooking skills of donker which is a type of Dutch food. Sarah
intervenes when she finds out that Adam states his father doesn t love him. She tells Moses
about Adam s concern. After Moses dies, she looks to Adam as the head of the family. In the
beginning of the book, Sarah Cooper also looked at Adam as if he was a boy, but after he signed
the Muster book she looked at him as a man. Her entire perspective of Adam changed, when he

Women Are Looking For A Man Of God
Think about this. When the battery in our car, goes it is drained, you call somebody at AAA to
come charge the battery, right? So why is it that we, as men of God, are not watchful enough to
see that our spiritual battery is low? Why don t we regularly recharge it? Maybe check yourself
into a hotel or something overnight and just lie on your face before God, listening.
Some of you may be in crucial situations right now. How much time have you spent before the
Lord, praying, reading and studying his Word to get yourself back on track? I ve learned that
women are looking for a man of God. They re looking for a man who can take her to another place
in life. That s what they are looking for. You know these women are very independent today....

How do you expect her to operate with you? We have to say, I m not asking for you to be like me,
I m just asking you to work with me. And so, again, if you don t give her anything to do, trust me,
she will find something.
And so that s why you always have to remain plugged in. You have to watch, and stand fast in the
faith. Don t you dare allow fear to consume your faith. You have to be willing to trust God, even
when you are at the point where you have more bills than you got money and you re trying to
figure out what you re going to do. The devil is always present when you are pressured . . . You
cannot allow the enemy to push you to do anything that is offensive to God that you know will take
you out of position with God.
The enemy wants to get you to a place where you will start working so many hours that you re
too tired to pray and can t spend time reading the word or studying scripture. Do you understand
me? When you have no time for yourself, you become an agitated individual. We already have an
angry streak in us. When you are tired, you will become even more flustered. And nobody wants
to be around you because of how you are carrying yourself. That s why you have to stand fast in
the faith. You ve got to believe God in the midst of everything.
Here s the thing: You cannot take this out of the loop. Because times are tough, you say, Ah, man,
I need some money. I ve got to work Sundays for the next 6 months. Rather than seeking God, we

Milk, The Main Character Harvey Milk
Adam Locke
COMM 1819: Fall 2016
In the movie Milk, the main character Harvey Milk is shown to be a leader who, while imperfect,
gains a large amount of support in his local community before meeting his tragic end. An
ethnographic approach to the film provides additional understanding of the tragic situation, as well
as an objective analysis of how leadership overcame huge challenges in that period of time.
In the film, Harvey Milk is portrayed as having many leaderful qualities. This is because
although he becomes a voice for the community and speaks on behalf of others, he is also an
effective listener. The concurrent tenet of leaderful practice is the most revolutionary. It suggests
that in any community, more than one leader can operate at the same time, so leaders willingly
and naturally share power with others (Raelin, 2003, p.1). Thus, a true leader inspires others to
act, as within the transformational leadership ideal (Judge Piccolo, 2004), and sees him or herself
as working within a situation that furthers a specific goal and in which they are a servant who
furthers a greater cause (Greenleaf, 2002). For Harvey Milk in the movie, this is especially true.
...servant leadership is an approach focusing on leadership from the point of view the leader and his
or her behaviors. Servant leadership emphasizes that leaders be attentive to the concerns of their
followers, empathize with them, and nurture them. Servant leaders put followers first, empower
them, and help

The purpose of the Act is to protect the rights and privacy of individuals and to ensure that data

Data Protection Act include: obtaining and processing data fairly, ensuring accuracy and
relevance of information and taking effective measures to prevent unauthorized access to data.
Individuals have the right to be told if a third party holds information about them, obtain a
record of that information, and require correction if necessary. The Data Protection Act was
reviewed in 1998; this newer act gave employees the right to see their personal records. This act
was again reviewed in 2000 to include computerised data. For employees, this act ensures that
their personal information can only be accessed by their employee and themselves. This protects
the employee from hassle from third parties. For employers, this act prevents them from selling
person information of there employees to third parties. However, this can be breached, but only on
a need to know basis such as for public or individual safety and if the information is needed by a
court order. In health and social care, the Data Protection Act protects service users/patients

Ecostar Case Analysis
The central strategy recommended to Nighthawk Motors for acquiring B2B customers is offering
of cost reduction. Effective cost management requires resources and process discipline to enable
and ensure the highest possible level of quality, reliability and productivity at the lowest overall
cost (Elliott, 2004). This strategy will apply to sales to governmental agencies, for profit
companies, and institutional markets. The goal is to brand the Ecostar as the leading hybrid plug in
vehicle with biggest cost saving for these organizations. All the three tiers of government federal,
states and local agencies provide excellent opportunities that Ecostar can excel in. In 2015, the U.S.

Contracts and agreement for these vehicles are tailored to specific organization s need. For
example, Avis Budget Group, Inc., acquires many of its rental vehicles pursuant to repurchase and
guaranteed depreciation programs established by automobile manufacturers (Avis, 2015).
Nighthawk packages should offer incentive such as vehicle repurchasing and replacement,
extended powertrain guarantees, vehicle customization, and quantity discount for large buyers.
Repurchase rental cars will reduce long term maintenance and liability cost and increase bottom
line for the rental companies. Nighthawk will benefit by selling more Ecostar with fairly steady
and consistent buyers. It will also benefit from resale of certified pre owned Ecostar while
gaining more individual customers. Finally, partnership with taxi companies (such as the
yellow taxi, New York City) in major cities across the United States. According to 2014 Taxicab

with 60% of the vehicles are of hybrid electric type and average life of 3.3 years and 2.6 miles per
trip (Taxi Limousine Commission, 2015, p.1). The partnership will provide avenue for Nighthawk
to acquire reliable and sustainable buyers that will contribute to achieving the goal of becoming the
number one selling vehicle. Nighthawk should use the same strategy for rental companies and

Controversy Surrounding the Use of Contraception
Introduction
From the time when it became available the near the beginning of the 1960s, oral contraceptives,
commonly called the pill, have opened possibilities that had were shut to females for all of times
gone by. Possibly more than any other sole factor, the pill has made it likely for women to be in
charge of of their own lives and to attain their prospects. Nowadays, 100 million women all over the
world use the pill. Nonetheless, there are emergencies ensuing from rape or failure to use
contraceptive plans. There are in addition emergencies ensuing from accidental consensual sex. In
spite of everything, the human sexual desire was fashioned by evolution to guarantee procreation,
and it works extremely fine. Given the correct psychological stimulants, pretty much everyone,
counting presidents of the United States and well known religious leaders, will jeopardize it all for
an illicit sexual rendezvous (Drazen, et al. 2004). To be adamant that society rely exclusively on
self restraint more willingly than contraception is to refute a nature beside which the gods
themselves are unable to compete. The whole history of humanity can be interpreted as evidence to
the influence of that nature.
Plan B was produced to cover emergencies, no matter what their reason. It turned out to be
obtainable by prescription in 1999. Millions of women have ever since found Plan B to be harmless
and efficient if ingested after intercourse but sooner than a spermatozoon enters the membrane

It can often be assumed to be a less detailed form of research than business research, but this is
not the case, its is simply less answer driven. And can often finish with no clear answer to the
question. In this form of research, you are much more likely to find hypothesis waiting to be
tested, rather than theories believed to be true/false. Simply put, business research is used to
answer a question, academic research is used to acquire a body of knowledge. From this definition,
it is easy to understand why many pieces of academic research can lead into further business
research
. For this reason, the space between these dichotomies is not always a clear one. There can often
be a grey area found between. An example of when research could fall into the grey area could be
if a business were to conduct continuous research. Companies often use continuous research on a
market, that has been developed specifically to better understand and to overcome market
problems as they occur. Now is this academic research? As it is being peformed with no clear
objective in mind. Or is it business research? As it is used to answer the companies questions
specifically, when they arise. In this circumstance it is often the researchers responsibility to tailor
and arrange their findings to coordinate with their needs. It is in this instant that the researcher

In this essay, I argue the government separating rather than bridging the United States. The main
points I show in my essay are the language being used by Donald Trump and the injustice of the 43
missing students in Mexico. We should be concerned about the government because it has gone
corrupt letting people run for President such as Donald Trumpthat is targeting minorities. In Mexico
not helping the parents solve the case of their innocent children is a problem when the government
should be doing their job. This causes violence amongst people and the government when we
should leaning on them for support and protection. We should be concerned about the government

What has the government done to make communities and families improve? Why do innocent

Literature Review In writing about my topic I read many articles from Goldman that were about
Donald Trump and the series of The 43 Missing Students. I read the articles to help me understand
more of the history of Donald Trump and the 43 missing students. The reading helped with my
research because it answered my question and it backed up my opinion. It helps address my thesis
stamen because it brings more main points and truth to my opinion.
Methodology
For this essay I conducted library research such as looking into Ebsco research premier for articles
on Donald Trump s current governmental campaign and the 43 missing student s unknown
disappearance trying to make their community better. As well, reading articles from Francisco
Goldman in The New Yorker. Additionally, interviewing a student to see their perspective of the
government separating the United States instead of bridging it.
Analysis
My research is important because it has to do with the well being of people and bringing justice to
innocent families with evidence showing the separating of the United States. This is shown by
how Donald Trump has caused people in his rallies to fight It was the stench of overt racism, and

Fighting for Love or Letting it Go No one ever stops to think or wonder what it would be like if
it were harder to get married. In my own opinion, I think that a majority of people take marriage
for granted. It is sad to say that divorce will always be an option as soon as a couple gets married.
It is important to understand the meaning marriageand how it will change life. If more people were
focused on making a marriage work, then divorce rates may lower. It is also important to
understand that a marriage is hard work and has the ability to be emotionally tiring at times. People

In the state of Missouri, it is actually very easy to get hitched as some may call it. According to
U.S Marriage Laws, the legal age to get married is 18. Whomever is getting married must apply
for a marriage license which permits people to actually get married. The permit will expire 30
days after receiving one. People wanting to get married need to research all of the requirements
for getting married, even though there are few. Laws may vary from state to state; this is why it
is important to research all of the requirements for different situations. I find it interesting that
there is an age requirement to get married, but not a requirement to take a compatibility test. I
think that even if there wasn t a compatibility test that couples should have to be asked simple
questions to see how well the couple knows one another. It would be beneficial to have couples
explain how long they have been dating or engaged how well they know their partner, and what
they understand about marriage. One of the down falls of being able to get married so easily is
that it doesn t pressure the couple to really think about what they want as a couple and how they
will adjust to married life. It can be a dramatic change for some people because they may never
have had to be so responsible for so many things. It would be an advantage for people to

Examples Of Situational Irony In The Ransom Of The Red Chief
In O. Henry s story, The Ransom of the Red Chief, eight distinct examples of irony are present
throughout the entire selection. O. Henry writes with both situational and verbal irony, which
results in a comedic account of a rowdy boy s kidnapping. Situational irony involves an event in
which actions have an effect that is opposite from what was intended. Verbal ironyis when the
intended meaning of a statement differs from the meaning that the words appear to express.
There are three examples of verbal irony and five examples of situational irony in The Ransom of
the Red Chief. The first example of verbal irony is in the beginning of the story. There was a town
down there, as flat as a flannel cake, and called Summit, of course. The irony is that a town that was

the wolves have home away the tender lambkin from the fold. Heaven help the wolves! says I,

Evil nationalism in total war
During 1914, the entire Europe was a powder keg filled not with gunpowder, but pride. Finally, it
blew up with the assassination of the Austrian archduke Franz Ferdinand in the 28th of June. While
Franz Ferdinand was on his way to examine Serbia, he was assassinated by the Serbian nationalist

strictly demanded Serbia to end all anti Austrian agitation and punish any Serbian official whoever

Descriptive Essay On Apple Picking
Apple Picking Today was going exceptionally well for me. My mom said we were going apple
picking. We get there and play for a while. After a while we decide to go on the tractor. We hop
onto the back of the wagon and go riding on the short trail. When we arrive, I see rows and rows
of trees with apples hanging off of the hands of their arms. It s time to go apple picking! I think
to myself excitedly. Everyone grabs their own little baggies and are told we can only pick four
five apples otherwise we d have hundreds of apples when we finish. I follow my mom through the
rows of trees labeled Granny SmithApples. It doesn t take me long to find some juicy looking
apples. Once I finish picking my apples, I lay them next to my mom and go find my cousins Abby
and Mia to play with.
We run through the series of trees until we tire ourselves out. After a while we head back to
where all of our aunts are. Let s get some family pictures. says my aunt Naomi. We all gather
around and take one big family picture and then separate pictures. Let s get a picture with all

apples and return in about thirty seconds. My aunts position us while my mom gets the camera

The Relationship Between Technology And Technology
Technology Me I think it goes without saying, but technology has fundamentally changed our
world. It has not only altered human communication, but has created a new form of communication
as well. Becoming more and more apparent in modern life is the fact that we are communicating
with technology itself in a multitude of different ways. The new, complicated relationship between
individual humans and elements of technologyhas been an emerging topic for many
communications theorists. In this essay, I will be taking two well held theories dealing with
communicationbetween humans and technology, and then applying it to experiences I have had in
my life.
The Theories The first theory is Media Equation Theory. In its simplest definition, the theory states
that humans interact with technology and media as if they were a human. Meaning, many of the
features of human communication are replicated in this new form of interaction. The theory was
developed by Bryon Reeves and Clifford Nass in the 1990s and has continued to gain prominence
with increased technological pervasiveness. Reeves and Nass found that humans attribute existing
social roles to this new media. Furthermore, we can view individual pieces and forms of
technology as either positive or negative. Based on our past experiences, new media can act as a
friend, an adversary, or an expert (Littlejohn, Foss, Oetzel, 2017, p. 201). However, that begs the
important question: Why do we perceive them as humanlike? There have

Essay about The Home Depot
The Home Depot
Introduction
Retailing building supply stores have become a popular retail industry sector due to increased
public awareness and the need of many homeowners for the home improvement products. Back in
the 1970s, long before warehouse stores ruled home improvement land, do it yourselfers shopped at
home centers. These 30,000 square foot stores offered cheaper prices and wider selection of
products, about 25,000 more than local hardware stores and eliminated the extra trip to the
lumberyard. The dependence of many of these retailers upon the homebuilding industry for much of
their business has also been reduced and the warehouse superstores, such as Home Depot, have
become more important. The smaller companies in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Much of the company s success has been attributed to its superior customer service, along with low
process and a broad selection of products.
In 1979, they opened three Home Depot outlets in the Atlanta area, adding fourth outlet in 1980.
The next year Home Depot when public, opened four stores in South Florida, and posted sales of
$50 million. After opening two more stores and making sales of $100 million in 1982, the
company was named Retailer of the Year in the home building supply industry. The chain entered
Louisiana and Arizona next.
By 1983 sales were more than $250 million. The company also began installing computerized
checkout systems, and by 1984 inventory reordering was computerized. The same year the
company acquired nine Bowater Home Centers in Texas, Louisiana, and Alabama. Home Depot
then entered Southern California, Handy Dan s home turf, opening six stores. The Bowater
acquisition and rapid internal expansion caused Home Depot to falter and experienced the only
dip in earnings in its history. Back on track in 1986, sales exceeded $1 billion in the firm s 60
stores. Entering the competitive northeastern market, the company bought three Modell s
Shoppers World stores on Long Island. In 1989 Home Depot added 22 Stores, primary in
California, Florida, and New England. Home Depot s sales rose during the 1990 1992 recession.

Midwifery Care Shortage Essay
Introduction
There is a predicted midwifery workforce shortage (The Department of Health, 2013). To address
this, the Australian Government has been implementing measures to support midwives to work to
their full scope of practice including increasing midwifery care in community settings (Department
of Health and Ageing, 2010).
This research proposal aims to understand and interpret metropolitan hospital based lived
experience of providing extramural midwifery care after hospital based midwifery experience.
From this understanding any issues that impact negatively on midwives may be identified and the
risk mitigated.
Contextual review
The majority of maternity care is provided within a hospital setting and within a medical model
(Owens, et al., 2016).
The Australian Government policy is to increase women s access to midwifery care within their
local community (Department of Health and Ageing, 2010) however the majority of publically
employed metropolitan midwives are siloed into discrete areas of practice (antenatal, birthing,
postnatal care and home visiting). Providing care outside of a hospital setting is new to many
metropolitan Australian midwives.
Literature review
A literature review was undertaken in August and September 2016 through Queensland University
of Technology (QUT) library service to ascertain if this experience has been studied and to identify
other similar studies and how they were designed.
The first search used the key words: midwife experiences

Social Media And Traditional Media
Traditional media has failed to live up to its fourth estate role. This has lead us to the question,
can the more modern, social media, make up for the lack of success that traditional media has
had in fulfilling this watchdog role for the people? Kemp s rules of CIDRA1 apply to social
media as they do with traditional media. Thus, we must determine what, if any, obstacles are
present in preventing social media from completing this role. More specifically, do the five filters
that Chomsky highlights apply to social media as they do to traditional media? Or does the
fundamental structure of social media allow for it to accomplish a fifth estaterole? I argue that
social media is more effective at playing a watchdog role than traditional media. Social media is
built on a platform that has the interest of working for the people in terms of freedom of
distributing ideas and checking elitepower in liberal democracies. Furthermore, ...traditional media
formats are no longer the only politically relevant forms of media (Metzgar, Maruggi, 2009, p.
149). The reason that social media can have higher success in acting as a watchdog role stems
from one central theme: when it comes to social media, less of Chomsky s filters lie between the
person wanting to distribute an idea and the ability to have this idea delivered to the public.
We must understand the foundation of social media, and determine if it can meet the standards
brought by Kemp. This, along with determining if Chomsky s

Analysis Of I Am A Farmer By Aika Yamashiro
Aiko Yamashiro is a poet, English major, and the author of Values of Hawai i 2: Ancestral
Roots, Oceanic Views which she published on May 10th, 2017. She compiled stories relating to
the values of Hawaii, including the poem I am a Farmer by U ilani Hideko Kalawe O Kou Ola Ana
Kokaua Pulama Arasato. Arasato writes I am a farmerin the first person perspective; You should
stop and listen, the aina is trying to speak. Reinforces that Arasato is explaining a situation to
everyone about the lands of Hawaii. Arasato s purpose in I am a Farmer is to illustrate events
that influenced Hawai i land. From ancient Hawaiian times, during the time the Ali i ruled, to
modern day Hawaii, the land in which generations were promised, slowly disappeared as hungry
real estate people bought it up. Infuriating, feeling betrayed, and being voided of their land
brings darkness to the farmers and the reason why Arasato creates this poem to explain the
history of farmers suffering. I agree with Arasato s claim that the farming land was wrongfully
taken and deserves to be given back to those who rightfully own them because Hawaii is a place
of fertility and where farmers thrive to grow food for its people. It s been a heritage for
generations and if people take care of the land, the land will surely provide back. Therefore, the
poem I am a Farmer explains the history of farming in Hawaii by relating to the past, explaining
the challenges faced, and what the future of farming can be if the

Causes Of False Confessions
This paper is to examine and identify the risk factors and reasons of false confessions and how
social reform can mitigate innocent individuals from being wrongfully convicted and
incarcerated. There are many reasons we will see that contribute to false confessions. Many
people think there is no way they would ever confess to something they did not do, especially if it
is a serious crime. When in fact this occurs all the time and has been happening for hundreds of
years.
The results of a study show that nearly 3000 students or 14% reported to having been
interrogated at a police station. Of those students 58.2 % reported they had been interrogated only
once, 19.6 % twice 13.7 % three to five times and 8.5 % six or more times. The study showed that
males were significantly more likely to report having ever been interrogated compared to females.
Of all the students that were interrogated 14.7 % reported to having made a false confession. 60.8 %
made only 1 false confession, 18.9% made two false confessions, 9.2 % made three to five false
confessions and 11.1 % reported six or more times. Males were significantly more likely to report
making a false confession over females. Also, the individuals in the younger group were more
likely to report making a false confession over the older group. The risk predictors of police
interrogation and false confessions show the strongest predictors were ADHD symptoms combined
with the younger classification.

Oman And The Middle East Stratum
Over the past thousand years, Oman has occupied a key strategic space in the Middle East stratum.
With its vast mountain ranges, desert terrain, and steep cliffs along the coast, Oman over the years
has proven to be very difficult to invade. This has allowed Oman to repel the majority of attacks
from foreign militaries and maintain their sovereignty. The Southern and Eastern coastline of the
country represents the key that makes Omanso important to the strength of the Middle East. Oman
is a major piece to the peace in the Middle East. Oman lies in the southeast corner of the Arabian
Peninsula right on the Tropic of Cancer latitude line (International, 2011). Yemen, Saudi Arabia
, and
the United Arab Emiratesborder Oman from the southeast, west, and the north. Oman also claims
many islands in the Arabian Sea and in the Strait of Hormuz off Oman s northern tip. Similar to its
surrounding nations, Oman has a mountain range that spans the country. The Hajar mountain range
begins at the north west tip and extends down its western border to the southwest, near Yemen
(International, 2011). The Omanis compare The Hajar to a human backbone, for it forms a great
arc much like the human skeleton. The Interior of Oman is mostly sand dunes, rocks, and gravel,
which is very similar to the entire Middle East region (International, 2011). Oman s coastline
stretches 1,700 km from North to South. Low hills and wastelands with little vegetation is what fill

Sex Relationships And Relationships Between Children And...
While it is possible for men and women to be victims of intimate partner abuse, the vast majority
of the available research focuses on women as the victims and men as the aggressors. The
challenge is that in identifying the many variables and results of abusive relationships, the data can
be skewed to favor one gender over another, and there needs to be more study into same sex
relationships and partner abuse and heterosexual relationships where the female is the aggressor
and the male is the victim. With that said, there is much that is currently being done for those who
are in abusive relationships, with perhaps the most important task being preventing relationship
violence(Hays et al., 2015). Introducing programs across the country that are specifically for
students can help reduce the incidence of domestic violenceand identify those who are at risk for
entering into an abusive relationship (Hays et al., 2015).
Current trends in domestic violence Currently group therapy and getting the victim into a safe
house are the most used tools to help the victims of abusive relationships but this one size fits all
model is not universally successful in prevention and treatment (Lothstein, 2015; Nicholas, 2013).
Group sessions have been shown to be extremely effective in increasing knowledge and awareness
of all types of relationship violence while increasing the opportunity to have conversations on such
topics in many settings (Hays et al., 2015). For as effective as therapy

Language In English Language
Although human beings can learn a lot about language from reading books and studying
grammatical conventions, purely analysing or studying a language as an object will not allow a
person to submerge themselves in the true social process and complexity of the language.
Grudgeon and Gardner (2000) use the analogy of languageas a fish; the fish, itself is an organism to
be studied, but its true marvel becomes apparent when it swims. The fish represents the written,
structured conventional form of language, whereas human beings add another element as they
shape and morph language to suit their social environment, representing the fish in motion. A
person learning English as a second language may excel in a structured classroom environment,
only to find themselves confused in a real world environment when fluent English speakers
converse dynamically using slang, sarcasm, jokes and inferred meanings. Children predominantly
learn to speak from social imitation and interaction (Gee Hayes, 2011). Inferred meanings or social
semiotics are learnt through exposure and interaction, similar to learning the different meanings of
the traffic lights from repeated experience, until it becomes instinctive to stop at a red light.
Eventually, people react to the use of language subconsciously as opposed to literally interpreting
what the speaker is saying. Different dialects and formalities also add complexity to understanding
the use of language. A dialect is a variation of a language used

An Analysis Using Rhetoric Expert s Advice Essay
An Analysis Using Rhetoric Expert s Advice On the morning of September 11, 2001, al Qaeda
terrorists carried out a set of coordinated suicide attacks with four hijacked passenger planes and
killed around 3,000 people on American soil. The first two planes hit the World Trade center in
New York and killed everyone on board and hundreds inside the buildings. Following this attack,
the nation was informed by President Bush that these attacks were, apparent terrorist attacks on
our country (http://www.history.com/topics/9 11 timeline). The third hijacked plane soon crashed
into the Pentagon in Washington, D.C., and killed hundreds of people aboard and 125 military
and civilian personnel inside the building. The fourth plane deliberately crashed into a field in
Somerset County, Pennsylvania, taking the lives of all the people and the crew aboard after a few
passengers tried to take the plane back from the hijackers. With thousands of lives taken and the
American people frightened and in need of answers, they expected someone to deliver a speech to
provide comfort and guidance. George W. Bush, as president, was the only logical rhetor to fill
that need, and nine days later on September 20, 2011, he addressed the Nation in a Joint Session
of Congress concerning the terror attacks. As we examine political speeches and analyze how
rhetorical devices are used, we turn to experts William Lutz, Clyde Miller, and Carol Lea Clark for

The Importance Of Competence In Physical Education
Introduction
As students advance through primary and secondary physical education, perceive competence will
influence their intrinsic motivation towards engagement. In a traditional sports unit, students that
have low capability will struggle. Furthermore, students that are low skilled alienate themselves
from their peers. One of SHAPES essential standards is that students need to understand the
concepts of fitness and health that will lead to a lifelong appreciation of healthful behavior. How
can teachers devise a lesson regardless of skill, that will benefit students, affective, cognitive and
psychomotor as a whole irrespective of ability?
Nicholls theory (1984) emphasizes that competence is a crucial element influencing the
motivational process; notably, capability drives physical activity.
Perceived competence is the regulatory system that operates motivation. When students engage in
physical activity voluntarily without the demand stimuli; this is known as intrinsic motivation. In
general, intrinsically motivated students will participate in physical activity for the pleasure and
gratification (Deci, 1975).
Furthermore, motivational regulations can influence engagement in physical activity.
An enthusiastic person participation in a task is known as engagement. (Reeve, 2004). The
common extrinsic motivations for young athletes in physical education are peer interaction,
competition, and skill development. There is room to believe that extrinsically motivated

Jane Eyre was written in first person narrative. This technique immediately allows the reader to

as meaning that although Jane is protected from the realities of life outside Gateshead, as she is
always isolated inside the house and its grounds, she is not really separated from the harsh
realities of life itself, as she believes she is suffering a much more cruel life locked inside.
The use of sympathetic background, in the description of the drear November day the other side

previous statements. Afar, it offered a pale blank of mist and cloud; near a scene of wet lawn and
storm beat shrub, with ceaseless rain sweeping away wildly before a long and lamenting blast.
This description on page 2 of Jane s view from her window describes that of lawns, shrubs and

Rhetorical Analysis Of Waiting For Superman
As a parent, you want the best for your child in life. What would you do if their entire future was
decided on one lottery that was out of your control? Waiting for Superman is a documentary that
was made in 2010 and created controversy among educators and parents everywhere. The director
focuses on 5 students that go through the process of trying to find a better education. In Waiting for
Superman, Davis Guggenheim(the director) investigates and uncovers the downfall of American
education over the years informing people the truth of what is truly going on. Guggenheim appeals
to ethos by including a concerned mother, such as Nakia, who can share values with the audience.
Nakia does everything she can to afford a good education for her daughter, Bianca. Knowing that if
her daughter goes to her zone public schoolshe will fail to be prepared to go on to college and get
the degree she needs Nakia gets money any way she can, but still is unable to pay her child s school
bills. By incorporating this mother into the documentary the director expands the audience to
mothers that know what it is like to worry about their child s future. Guggenheim strengthens his
movie by using this rhetoric device throughout this piece.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

He mentions a charter school called Kipp saying that, Kipp students will have doubled their math

example of logos occurred when the author states that there is a direct correlation between students
dropping out of high school and students that go to prison. This appeals to logos because it gives
facts to emphasize the fact that going to a good high school has a big impact on your

Fast Food Nation examines the history of the fast food industry as the world began to consume
the idea of quick and easy cuisine. This piece of investigative journalism really gives it s readers
a look at the fast food industry and its development over time. This book is divided into two

large corporational business it is today. The second section examines the business behind the
scenes. The book opens with the examination of one of the fast foods pioneers, Carl N. Karcher.

Case Study of Callaway Golf Company Essays
Case Study of Callaway Golf Company
Section I. Summary
Callaway Golf Company began to take form in 1983, after Ely Reeves Callaway Jr. sold
Callaway Vineyard and Winery for a $9 million dollar profit. Shortly after the sell of the winery,
Callaway ventured in to the golf equipment industry and bought 50 percent of Hickory Stick USA.
Callaway knew from the very beginning that this company s profits were limited as long as the
product line wasn t changing. Callaway noticed that most golf equipment had changed very little
since the 1920s and believed that , due to the difficulty of the game of golf, recreational golfers

Helmstetter and his engineering team were very important to the execution of Callaway Golf s
competitive strategy. Callaway Golf Company consistently outspent its rivals in the industry on R
D which allowed it to continually beat its competitors to the market with new innovations. (P
c210) In 1994, Callaway Golf opened the Helmstetter Test Center located a mile away from the
main campus. The Helmstetter Test Center had two primary uses; it provided an ideal place to
custom fit clubs for the touring pros who used Callaway equipment, and it allowed Callaway R D
staff to test new products in the developmental stage. The development of new products at
Callaway Golf Company not only included the research and development staff but also the sales
and advertising staff. These teams worked hand in hand together. When the R D would come up
with a new product idea, the sales and advertisement staff would look over this idea and recommend
changes based on the current market interests.
Callaway s customer service department was viewed as a critical component of the company s
overall level of differentiation. (p. c215) Even before handling any customer service inquiry, each
customer service representative received eight weeks of training since the entire customer service
staff was empowered to make a final decision regarding a consumer or retailer complaint or

Alcatraz Prison
Alcatraz was a prison, that was in use from 1934 to 1963. It housed some of the worldВґs most
dangerous criminals over the span of twenty nine years. I chose to write about Alcatraz because
I like the history of weird and creepy places, which Alcatraz is. Alcatraz is creepy because there
are many claims that people have heard the cries and moans in cell blocks A, B, and C. I also
chose to write about this because I wanted to learn more about Alcatraz. Someday I want to go
there. This essay will explain why an Army prisonwas turned into a federal penitentiary on Alcatraz
Island, who were some famous inmates that once occupied a cell there and, it will detail some of
the attempted escapes from Alcatraz.
In 1933, the U.S. Army relinquished control of the island of Alcatraz to the U.S. Justice Department
(History.com). At that time the federal government wanted a federal prison that could house a
criminal population [that was] too difficult or dangerous to be handled by other U.S. penitentiaries
(History.com). The main reason that Alcatraz was turned into a federal prison is because escape
was thought to be impossible (History.com). Alcatraz was made more secure than it already was to
prevent escapes following construction to make the prison safer. ... Show more content on

Supporting Influences in the Process of Special Education
How does the role of the Response to Intervention process (RTI), and the Positive Behavior
Interventions and Support (PBIS) structure influence the pre referral process for special
education? In today s time it is of common practice to use the RTI method for academic issues.
Likewise, the PBIS framework is used for issues dealing with unfavorable characteristics in
student behavior. Each method is widely known and looked on as a favorable approach. Both
RTI and PBIS are very important in addressing students during the pre referral process, and each
plays a very significant role. In the following essay the aforementioned question of their role and
influence will be explored and answered. In addressing the role of the Response to Intervention
process (RTI), one must first become familiar with the premise of this process. RTI is a method
that is used to address school aged children that are showing evidence of academic struggle. At the
beginning of the pre referral process, educators identify struggling pupils. Following this
identification, these same teachers begin to explore several avenues of remediation through highly
recommended research based approaches. An approach is selected, implemented, and the child s
progress is documented fully. If solid evidence of success is discovered, through the
implementation of a given program, then the process is concluded because success has been met.
However, if there is solid evidence that proves that the program is unsuccessful then

Miles Dewey Davis was born on May 26, 1926 in the great state of Illinois. The 20th century

With the times being so against the black man , Mr. Davis fought through the adversity to piece

fight through segregation. I want to spend some time evaluating and analyzing his music and

Understanding Neurobiology As a social worker, it is important to be aware of neurobiology of
the brain. A persons thoughts and actions can best be explained by neurobiology. Social workers
work daily with people who seek therapy to address thoughts and actions that occur in their
everyday life. In order to provide best practice, it is important to have understanding of how
neurobiology plays a role in the development of a person s behaviors and thought processes. Four
aspects of braindevelopment that are particularly important for a social worker to be aware of are

It is through the earliest interaction between an infant and the caregiver that an individual s affect
regulation begins to be generated. The mutual affect regulation displayed by the caregiver and the
infant allows the infant to learn and internalize how to regulate intense emotions. An infant s brain
structure and function becomes implicitly embedded with the modes of early affect regulation
through the neuronal structures that allows the individual to have appropriate modes of relating
throughout life (Applegate Shapiro, 2005). The goal of affect regulation is to increase the positive
affects and decrease the negative affects.
A mechanism in the brain that has contributed to the creation of Javier s behaviors would be the
limbic system. The limbic system is considered to be the center of emotion (Applegate Shapiro,
2005). The three key regions of this system are the orbitofrontal cortex, the anterior cingulate, and
the amygdala. The amygdala is a part of the brain that is considered to be important to affect
regulation. The amygdala is utilized to identify, understand, and interpret emotions. It plays a role
in the automatic, rapid, and early detection of affect (LeDoux, 2000). It is considered to be
important in regulating emotion and guiding emotion related behaviors.
Javier appears to have struggled with developing appropriate affect regulation due to the

Andrew Jackson s Characterization Of The Age Of Jackson
Andrew Jackson first had a military career that evolved into a political career in the Age of
Jackson. The Age of Jackson is an accurate characterization of the era between 1815 and 1845,
because Jackson dominated the political sphere in the US. He was the dominant political figure that
was almost as influential and as representative as Martin Van Buren. Van Buren was the only
politician that could challenge Andrew Jacksonin politics, because Jackson s characterization
embodied the views held in the first 40 years of the early 1800s.
Does that seem an apt characterization?
Jackson maintained his image as a dominant figure as president from 1828 to 1837 when he
fought for southerners as he garnered the attention of Whigs to preserve the Union. Jackson is
regarded as a national hero that excelled in military and politics. Examples of this accurate
characterization are his title as the Indian Fighter and his actions as President of the United
States. In The Battle of New Orleans and Seminole Wars. His actions, while extremely
xenophobic and racist, were revered by the general public, but he is still seen as a national
historical figure. He had a decisive victory over the British in the Battle of New Orleans when he
prevented the British from taking the Louisiana Purchase despite being outnumbered by around
10,000 troops. He was an astute militarily strategist that anticipated and fended off British at the
Siege of Fort St. Philip in a critical point of the Battle of New

Adversity in Life Elicits Unknown Talents and Strength Essay
Who we really are, what our real character is only truly elicited when we are challenged, as a
proverb states, In the darkest hour shines the brightest light. Our true character shines through when
we are pushed to our extremes and are placed in situations outside of the norm. Horace claims that
when someone is faced with an adversity or a challenge, they are more likely to discover talents that
they thought they never had. I agree with his claim that adversity breeds talents and strengthens our
character, but still understand the importance of prosperity in developing talents.
The modern world has an abundance of prosperity; many countries are now affluent. In these
prosperous circumstances talents stay hidden, but countries like Nepal, ... Show more content on

His experience is almost unfathomable, could you saw off your arm with a rusty pocketknife?
Without having faced this life or death situation Danny Boyle would have never known what
lengths he would go to too survive; adversity breed that talent with in him.
Adversity doesn t only elicit talents and shape character in extreme situations; many people s
first experience of adversity is found in school sports. Growing up I was part of eight SAISA

challenges that in any other situation I would have never come across. The most vivid situation

Just five minutes into the match I came under a harsh headed tackle from an opposition player

The sound of the tavern also intrigues me. I love socializing at taverns and bars and this one

  • 2. Moses Cooper In A Separate Peace Moses is an ordinary farmer, and is one of the leader in the revolutionary activities. He is a very opinionated man and likes to argue. He is proud of his Protestant heritage as a people of the Book, and he scolds his son Adam for superstitious behavior, telling him the Coopers have been proud of their literate and educated tradition. Moses helps a lot of people especially his neighbor Joseph Simmons. Moses helped Simmons draft the statement on the rights of manas a basis for negotiating with the British for independence. Moses is hard on his son Adam until he hears that Adam does not think that he loves him. Hate him? My father exploded of all the crazy notions, of all idiotic ideas. There is a boy, my first born son why would I hate him. (Page 45) He tells him he is too young for the Committee but at the last minute allows his son to sign up for the muster on the Common because he sees in Adam s eyes that he will lose his son if he does not recognize him as a man in front of the other men. In the book, Moses Cooper is portrayed as a very opinionated, religious, and an enraged man but behind all of this he is a very emotional person. This is proven as the book reaches The Morning, section of the book. In the beginning Moses had no sympathy towards Adam and always looked at him as if he was a boy, but... • 3. Women Are Looking For A Man Of God Think about this. When the battery in our car, goes it is drained, you call somebody at AAA to come charge the battery, right? So why is it that we, as men of God, are not watchful enough to see that our spiritual battery is low? Why don t we regularly recharge it? Maybe check yourself into a hotel or something overnight and just lie on your face before God, listening. Some of you may be in crucial situations right now. How much time have you spent before the Lord, praying, reading and studying his Word to get yourself back on track? I ve learned that women are looking for a man of God. They re looking for a man who can take her to another place in life. That s what they are looking for. You know these women are very independent today.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... How do you expect her to operate with you? We have to say, I m not asking for you to be like me, I m just asking you to work with me. And so, again, if you don t give her anything to do, trust me, she will find something. And so that s why you always have to remain plugged in. You have to watch, and stand fast in the faith. Don t you dare allow fear to consume your faith. You have to be willing to trust God, even when you are at the point where you have more bills than you got money and you re trying to figure out what you re going to do. The devil is always present when you are pressured . . . You cannot allow the enemy to push you to do anything that is offensive to God that you know will take you out of position with God. The enemy wants to get you to a place where you will start working so many hours that you re too tired to pray and can t spend time reading the word or studying scripture. Do you understand me? When you have no time for yourself, you become an agitated individual. We already have an angry streak in us. When you are tired, you will become even more flustered. And nobody wants to be around you because of how you are carrying yourself. That s why you have to stand fast in the faith. You ve got to believe God in the midst of everything. Here s the thing: You cannot take this out of the loop. Because times are tough, you say, Ah, man, I need some money. I ve got to work Sundays for the next 6 months. Rather than seeking God, we decide to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Milk, The Main Character Harvey Milk Adam Locke COMM 1819: Fall 2016 In the movie Milk, the main character Harvey Milk is shown to be a leader who, while imperfect, gains a large amount of support in his local community before meeting his tragic end. An ethnographic approach to the film provides additional understanding of the tragic situation, as well as an objective analysis of how leadership overcame huge challenges in that period of time. In the film, Harvey Milk is portrayed as having many leaderful qualities. This is because although he becomes a voice for the community and speaks on behalf of others, he is also an effective listener. The concurrent tenet of leaderful practice is the most revolutionary. It suggests that in any community, more than one leader can operate at the same time, so leaders willingly and naturally share power with others (Raelin, 2003, p.1). Thus, a true leader inspires others to act, as within the transformational leadership ideal (Judge Piccolo, 2004), and sees him or herself as working within a situation that furthers a specific goal and in which they are a servant who furthers a greater cause (Greenleaf, 2002). For Harvey Milk in the movie, this is especially true. ...servant leadership is an approach focusing on leadership from the point of view the leader and his or her behaviors. Servant leadership emphasizes that leaders be attentive to the concerns of their followers, empathize with them, and nurture them. Servant leaders put followers first, empower them, and help ... • 7. Controversy Surrounding the Use of Contraception Introduction From the time when it became available the near the beginning of the 1960s, oral contraceptives, commonly called the pill, have opened possibilities that had were shut to females for all of times gone by. Possibly more than any other sole factor, the pill has made it likely for women to be in charge of of their own lives and to attain their prospects. Nowadays, 100 million women all over the world use the pill. Nonetheless, there are emergencies ensuing from rape or failure to use contraceptive plans. There are in addition emergencies ensuing from accidental consensual sex. In spite of everything, the human sexual desire was fashioned by evolution to guarantee procreation, and it works extremely fine. Given the correct psychological stimulants, pretty much everyone, counting presidents of the United States and well known religious leaders, will jeopardize it all for an illicit sexual rendezvous (Drazen, et al. 2004). To be adamant that society rely exclusively on self restraint more willingly than contraception is to refute a nature beside which the gods themselves are unable to compete. The whole history of humanity can be interpreted as evidence to the influence of that nature. Plan B was produced to cover emergencies, no matter what their reason. It turned out to be obtainable by prescription in 1999. Millions of women have ever since found Plan B to be harmless and efficient if ingested after intercourse but sooner than a spermatozoon enters the membrane ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It can often be assumed to be a less detailed form of research than business research, but this is not the case, its is simply less answer driven. And can often finish with no clear answer to the question. In this form of research, you are much more likely to find hypothesis waiting to be tested, rather than theories believed to be true/false. Simply put, business research is used to answer a question, academic research is used to acquire a body of knowledge. From this definition, it is easy to understand why many pieces of academic research can lead into further business research . For this reason, the space between these dichotomies is not always a clear one. There can often be a grey area found between. An example of when research could fall into the grey area could be if a business were to conduct continuous research. Companies often use continuous research on a market, that has been developed specifically to better understand and to overcome market problems as they occur. Now is this academic research? As it is being peformed with no clear objective in mind. Or is it business research? As it is used to answer the companies questions specifically, when they arise. In this circumstance it is often the researchers responsibility to tailor and arrange their findings to coordinate with their needs. It is in this instant that the researcher ... Laws may vary from state to state; this is why it is important to research all of the requirements for different situations. I find it interesting that there is an age requirement to get married, but not a requirement to take a compatibility test. I think that even if there wasn t a compatibility test that couples should have to be asked simple questions to see how well the couple knows one another. It would be beneficial to have couples explain how long they have been dating or engaged how well they know their partner, and what they understand about marriage. One of the down falls of being able to get married so easily is that it doesn t pressure the couple to really think about what they want as a couple and how they will adjust to married life. It can be a dramatic change for some people because they may never have had to be so responsible for so many things. It would be an advantage for people to understand what makes a stable marriage and what the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Situational irony involves an event in which actions have an effect that is opposite from what was intended. Verbal ironyis when the intended meaning of a statement differs from the meaning that the words appear to express. There are three examples of verbal irony and five examples of situational irony in The Ransom of the Red Chief. The first example of verbal irony is in the beginning of the story. It has not only altered human communication, but has created a new form of communication as well. Becoming more and more apparent in modern life is the fact that we are communicating with technology itself in a multitude of different ways. The new, complicated relationship between individual humans and elements of technologyhas been an emerging topic for many communications theorists. In this essay, I will be taking two well held theories dealing with communicationbetween humans and technology, and then applying it to experiences I have had in my life. The Theories The first theory is Media Equation Theory. In its simplest definition, the theory states that humans interact with technology and media as if they were a human. Meaning, many of the features of human communication are replicated in this new form of interaction. The theory was developed by Bryon Reeves and Clifford Nass in the 1990s and has continued to gain prominence with increased technological pervasiveness. Reeves and Nass found that humans attribute existing social roles to this new media. Furthermore, we can view individual pieces and forms of technology as either positive or negative. Based on our past experiences, new media can act as a friend, an adversary, or an expert (Littlejohn, Foss, Oetzel, 2017, p. 201). However, that begs the important question: Why do we perceive them as humanlike? There have ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

To address this, the Australian Government has been implementing measures to support midwives to work to their full scope of practice including increasing midwifery care in community settings (Department of Health and Ageing, 2010). This research proposal aims to understand and interpret metropolitan hospital based lived experience of providing extramural midwifery care after hospital based midwifery experience. From this understanding any issues that impact negatively on midwives may be identified and the risk mitigated. Contextual review The majority of maternity care is provided within a hospital setting and within a medical model (Owens, et al., 2016). The Australian Government policy is to increase women s access to midwifery care within their local community (Department of Health and Ageing, 2010) however the majority of publically employed metropolitan midwives are siloed into discrete areas of practice (antenatal, birthing, postnatal care and home visiting). Providing care outside of a hospital setting is new to many metropolitan Australian midwives. • 22. Social Media And Traditional Media Traditional media has failed to live up to its fourth estate role. This has lead us to the question, can the more modern, social media, make up for the lack of success that traditional media has had in fulfilling this watchdog role for the people? Kemp s rules of CIDRA1 apply to social media as they do with traditional media. Thus, we must determine what, if any, obstacles are present in preventing social media from completing this role. More specifically, do the five filters that Chomsky highlights apply to social media as they do to traditional media? Or does the fundamental structure of social media allow for it to accomplish a fifth estaterole? I argue that social media is more effective at playing a watchdog role than traditional media. Social media is built on a platform that has the interest of working for the people in terms of freedom of distributing ideas and checking elitepower in liberal democracies. Furthermore, ...traditional media formats are no longer the only politically relevant forms of media (Metzgar, Maruggi, 2009, p. 149). The reason that social media can have higher success in acting as a watchdog role stems from one central theme: when it comes to social media, less of Chomsky s filters lie between the person wanting to distribute an idea and the ability to have this idea delivered to the public. We must understand the foundation of social media, and determine if it can meet the standards brought by Kemp. This, along with determining if Chomsky s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Arasato writes I am a farmerin the first person perspective; You should stop and listen, the aina is trying to speak. Reinforces that Arasato is explaining a situation to everyone about the lands of Hawaii. Arasato s purpose in I am a Farmer is to illustrate events that influenced Hawai i land. From ancient Hawaiian times, during the time the Ali i ruled, to modern day Hawaii, the land in which generations were promised, slowly disappeared as hungry real estate people bought it up. Infuriating, feeling betrayed, and being voided of their land brings darkness to the farmers and the reason why Arasato creates this poem to explain the history of farmers suffering. I agree with Arasato s claim that the farming land was wrongfully taken and deserves to be given back to those who rightfully own them because Hawaii is a place of fertility and where farmers thrive to grow food for its people. It s been a heritage for generations and if people take care of the land, the land will surely provide back. While it is possible for men and women to be victims of intimate partner abuse, the vast majority of the available research focuses on women as the victims and men as the aggressors. The challenge is that in identifying the many variables and results of abusive relationships, the data can be skewed to favor one gender over another, and there needs to be more study into same sex relationships and partner abuse and heterosexual relationships where the female is the aggressor and the male is the victim. With that said, there is much that is currently being done for those who are in abusive relationships, with perhaps the most important task being preventing relationship violence(Hays et al., 2015). Introducing programs across the country that are specifically for students can help reduce the incidence of domestic violenceand identify those who are at risk for entering into an abusive relationship (Hays et al., 2015). • 33. Language In English Language Although human beings can learn a lot about language from reading books and studying grammatical conventions, purely analysing or studying a language as an object will not allow a person to submerge themselves in the true social process and complexity of the language. Grudgeon and Gardner (2000) use the analogy of languageas a fish; the fish, itself is an organism to be studied, but its true marvel becomes apparent when it swims. The fish represents the written, structured conventional form of language, whereas human beings add another element as they shape and morph language to suit their social environment, representing the fish in motion. A person learning English as a second language may excel in a structured classroom environment, only to find themselves confused in a real world environment when fluent English speakers converse dynamically using slang, sarcasm, jokes and inferred meanings. Children predominantly learn to speak from social imitation and interaction (Gee Hayes, 2011). Inferred meanings or social semiotics are learnt through exposure and interaction, similar to learning the different meanings of the traffic lights from repeated experience, until it becomes instinctive to stop at a red light. Eventually, people react to the use of language subconsciously as opposed to literally interpreting what the speaker is saying. Different dialects and formalities also add complexity to understanding the use of language. A dialect is a variation of a language used ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

An Analysis Using Rhetoric Expert s Advice Essay An Analysis Using Rhetoric Expert s Advice On the morning of September 11, 2001, al Qaeda terrorists carried out a set of coordinated suicide attacks with four hijacked passenger planes and killed around 3,000 people on American soil. The first two planes hit the World Trade center in New York and killed everyone on board and hundreds inside the buildings. Following this attack, the nation was informed by President Bush that these attacks were, apparent terrorist attacks on our country (http://www.history.com/topics/9 11 timeline). The third hijacked plane soon crashed into the Pentagon in Washington, D.C., and killed hundreds of people aboard and 125 military and civilian personnel inside the building. The fourth plane deliberately crashed into a field in Somerset County, Pennsylvania, taking the lives of all the people and the crew aboard after a few passengers tried to take the plane back from the hijackers. With thousands of lives taken and the American people frightened and in need of answers, they expected someone to deliver a speech to provide comfort and guidance. George W. Bush, as president, was the only logical rhetor to fill that need, and nine days later on September 20, 2011, he addressed the Nation in a Joint Session of Congress concerning the terror attacks. As we examine political speeches and analyze how rhetorical devices are used, we turn to experts William Lutz, Clyde Miller, and Carol Lea Clark for guidance. Miller, Clark, and Lutz note to the ... The Importance Of Competence In Physical Education Introduction As students advance through primary and secondary physical education, perceive competence will influence their intrinsic motivation towards engagement. In a traditional sports unit, students that have low capability will struggle. Furthermore, students that are low skilled alienate themselves from their peers. One of SHAPES essential standards is that students need to understand the concepts of fitness and health that will lead to a lifelong appreciation of healthful behavior. How can teachers devise a lesson regardless of skill, that will benefit students, affective, cognitive and psychomotor as a whole irrespective of ability? Nicholls theory (1984) emphasizes that competence is a crucial element influencing the motivational process; notably, capability drives physical activity. Perceived competence is the regulatory system that operates motivation. When students engage in physical activity voluntarily without the demand stimuli; this is known as intrinsic motivation. In general, intrinsically motivated students will participate in physical activity for the pleasure and gratification (Deci, 1975). Furthermore, motivational regulations can influence engagement in physical activity. An enthusiastic person participation in a task is known as engagement. (Reeve, 2004). Charlotte Bronte then goes onto describe how the clear panes of glass, were protecting, but not separating me [Jane] from the drear November day . This could be interpreted as meaning that although Jane is protected from the realities of life outside Gateshead, as she is always isolated inside the house and its grounds, she is not really separated from the harsh realities of life itself, as she believes she is suffering a much more cruel life locked inside. The Age of Jackson is an accurate characterization of the era between 1815 and 1845, because Jackson dominated the political sphere in the US. He was the dominant political figure that was almost as influential and as representative as Martin Van Buren. Van Buren was the only politician that could challenge Andrew Jacksonin politics, because Jackson s characterization embodied the views held in the first 40 years of the early 1800s.
