Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

1. Location Recce

This is where I will look at the locations that I will use for my two minuet scene in my film , here I will
analysis the location. This will help to describe and add meaning to the location by using mise-en-scene. The
location is very important because it is one of the first things people notice on screen. I will also have to check
that I can use the locations.

2. The Sixth Form Area (Second Floor)
This location is within the school Heath Park on the second floor near the sixth form area. I have
chosen this location because I think It fits in with the narrative of my story because the characters
are young and to show this I have used a school because it is a key part of young peoples lives, so
it would make sense to have a key location a school. I have chosen the sixth form area because I
think the use of the surroundings and the way the part of the room is merged into the corridor.
This structure of the location can help accompany my film shots. I had also chosen this location
because schools are meant to be a safe environment this I a contrast to what I intend the location
to be used for, I want it to be isolated and then suddenly it gets dangerous at the last few
seconds of the two minuets which makes the setting of the school less safe and it will make the
audience feel that danger can be anywhere. I have also chosen this location because it close to
the toilet and so that time will not be wasted showing the main characters journey to the next
location, another advantage is the color of the corridor and sixth from area are different to the
toilet, so when I make and film the toilet room scene I can use a tracking shot to follow Blake into
the toilet and have the colors' change from blue to yellow the color of fear and as he comes out
of the toilet I will change the lighting from a slight tint of blue to yellow because that is when the
fear of the character can be seen and the added element of seeing the mysterious female figure. I
also like that here are very open widows where I could have this mysterious female figure appear
within.
4. Heath Park Medical Room
The Medical room within the school, Heath Park will be my final location. I will use this Location
for the final scene to show that Kevin had passed out and is now within a hospital. I think that the
main reason that I had chosen this location is the fact that within the room the gurney is the key
focus with in that room. The room is yellow and it will follow the same theme of yellow
representing fear, I think this location works with the fact that I want to leave the audience not
knowing if the character of Blake is safe. I think that the room has some floors because of the less
of a hospital or medical room feel because of the toilets around the gurney, However I am not
going to use a establishing shot of the room because I think that the prop of the gurney will help
the audience know where Blake is. I have chosen to do this because I think it is better to let the
props in the location tell where the characters are in the story.
