1. WHEN A PHONE RINGS
This is why you should never answer to unknown numbers especially on
October 31st, Halloween Night. you'll never know who it is, what it is, where they
are and why they are calling you. Main protagonist Jev gets an unknown call
and gets awaken during his sleep, this person doesn’t know Jev but he knows
where he is and what his doing at all time.
This film has elements of The Ring within it with the whole idea of
someone coming out the TV and it has elements of scream too where
Ghostface calls the phone and plays games with them. This film is similar
to a slasher film because of the killer being a type of person to stalk the
main protagonist and try to get them.

2. TREATMENT
At the beginning of this film you see the main protagonist named Jev and
his TV starts playing up and goes static he sits down at a seat and tries to
get comfortable about to watch TV but all of a sudden a video comes on
the screen.
In the middle of this film Jev gets rudely awoken by a phone call from an
unknown number which leaves the film in suspense and this leaves Jev on
the edge because he gets worried when he knows his friend isn’t on the
phone to him.
In the end of this film Jev finds out the police is here to a rescue and goes
out of the room and tries to get outside but its too late for him as the killer
is right behind him with his murder weapon.
The runtime for this film will be a maximum of 5 minutes and its horror.
This short film tries to get across that you can never really trust an
unknown number and give them details unless you know them this could
help keep people safe maybe.

3. CHARACTER BREAK DOWN
Jev is the main protagonist in this movie, he has a great set of skills and wants
to do what is best for himself because he lives alone and doesn’t have many
friends to focus on. The stereo type of this character is to be the last survivor
so a lone wolf and knows what his doing.
John is Jev’s best friend who doesn’t appear in the short film because this
whole film is based inside and not outside a place. John is the type of person to
not have a clue what's going on around him.
The killer in this short film is very typical because he isn’t hard to get away from
the only problem with the killer is trying to get him and find him. This killer has
has past experience due to being in the asylum for killing people in the past.
The police in this film the police goes past jev’s house and realizes something in the area is wrong
because of them getting a phone call that someone is dead, and the wound left on the person killed
off camera had a cut like a slash. The police in this film know what's happening because someone
has called already, and they know someone from an asylum has been loosed out.
The person killed off camera was an ordinary person who didn’t deserve any of
the violence but the person who killed him didn’t care. They definetly didn’t
know about this killer on the loose because its normally what happens in
horror's

6. PRE-PRODUCTION
I created a sizzle reel which had bits of movies which summed up my short film and
the situations that goes on in my short film all relate to horror movies there is no
friendly situations in my horror movie.
This will still be appropriate for the audience because there is no gore or swearing
on the short movie.

7. PRODUCTION
I used the insidious music to add horror to the sizzle reel I created because it’s a
preview of what will happen within the movie but for the actual movie I will be using
some spooky music to leave the viewer on edge.
On the scene there will be a TV and a chair there wont be a phone on the scene until
later on towards the end of the movie to make contact with the killer.
There will be dream sequences as well so maybe there will need to be a filter on the
top of the footage when it comes to the dream sequence this is because its set in a
different time and place and its not real so there will be a filter and there will be a
different type of music playing too.
The transitions that I will be using is probably a smooth jump cut transition because
waking from a dream it happens all of a sudden so it will be smooth and things will
slowly change and the filter applied will be normal but there will still be a filter with
some horror music over the top but at a low volume.
There is going to be text for the title of the film at the beginning maybe even a title sequence where it comes up
with credits and which job role someone was. For the end of the film there will be credits again but all coming
down the screen the intro credits are scattered across the screen like Halloweens title sequence.

8. POST-PRODUCTION
Development – I think this short film could turn into a sequel and have maybe multiple
sequels because I feel like the killer could never get caught until a later film or the killer gets
sent to prison and there is scenes where his interviewed but the viewer couldn’t see his face
and he escapes on the night maybe he could also be in a game maybe as well.
Screening And Distribution – This film could be screened on a starting screen to
a horror in the cinemas when you get adverts just after the adverts end this short
film could be played. This could also probably be screened on YouTube as well
because it doesn’t contain any blood, swearing and its only scary. This film
probably wouldn’t be on a DVD unless the film was over 5 minutes because it
wouldn’t be a good product to sell without more content.
Legal And Ethical - This film does have copyright within it because there is a few
seconds from the psycho 1 film where strings happens as she is dying within the
shower, I use this theme as the phone rings to get people scared and put in a
jump scare because the movie has mostly silence.

9. PRODUCTION SCHEDULE
I think this film will take less than 5 hours I only think that because the film is very
simple and short it's just like a casual slasher movie except you don’t see the killers
face and you won't see what they look like a bit like the movie Friday The 13th Part II
this is because less time will be required and it makes the movie more mysterious.
Throughout the movie there will be 2 different type of sequences like the dream
sequence and the real-world sequence so there will be different lighting plans for
both sequences because there will need to be a filter over the top of both sequences
but differently filtered.
I feel like this movie will take a bit of time to make because of the simplicity and
there is less casting people to work with I might only need one or two people
casting because the shots can be on point and I could probably try some smart new
techniques.

11. TARGET AUDIENCE
this short film would be for people aged 6 - 25 year olds because its
funny but in dumb ways it would make anyone between those ages laugh
because jev falls over every 2 minutes. this is mainly for genders who are
males because males probably find stuff within the film funnier than
females and the fact that most the people who watched scary movie films
was probably mostly males because of the comedy. this film would be for
grade a because people within businesses would find it funny too and
they could probably get the film more recognition.

12. LOCATION
I would like the location to be
in some sort of hotel which has
reports of hauntings but Jev
didn't take any notice and there
was murders that happened in
there.
The interior will have a sofa
and a TV in front of the TV the
lighting setting will be dark
due to Jev watching a movie
and falling asleep on the sofa.
