Location Mise-En-Scene
Bethlyn Allmey
Location 1 – Ruislip Lido
This location is also very aesthetically pleasing location with lots of open space and
scenery. There is a large amount of space to film so allows for variety within my music
video in regards to shots and scenery. Allows the protagonist to appear as though she
has moved more than she has and potentially even change in locations. The location
is not far from my house which allows me to easily transport equipment back and
forth.
Location 2 – Wakehams Hill
I believe this is a suited location to my music video as it is very aesthetically pleasing location with lots
of open space and scenery. There is a large amount of space to film so allows for variety within my
music video in regards to shots and scenery. Allows the protagonist to appear as though she has moved
more than she has and potentially even change in locations. The location is not far from my house
which allows me to easily transport equipment back and forth. I will also film in this location when dark
for a different kind of effect – contrast to prior bright shots. This will allow for a different feel to my
music video.
Colours
The colours I will use within my music video will vary dependant on the scenery and
mood of the music video etc. I plan to use contrasting colour schemes between the
light and dark different shots to allow for a different mood. With regards to the black
box studio this will be lit up with natural tones similar to the locations I will later then
film in with natural lighting and bright open scenery. By having different colour
schemes between the shots it will enable the audience to further understand and
reflect upon the feelings of the protagonist and the mood of the video – when dark
the protagonist is in a reflective state in comparison to the bright shots of which she is
enjoying herself and reminiscing. For the protagonist I will have quite neutral colours
and nothing too bright to suit with the surroundings eg. blacks, maroons, greys and
whites.
Props
I will not be using props within my music video. The lack of props in locations allow
the scenery, protagonist and mood of the music video to speak for itself – this also
allows the audience to interpret the video for themselves – a sense of control.
However in the indoor locations I shall be using props such as studio lighting to allow
more control over how I wish the footage to look.
