2. Analysis Of Harry Potter, Hermione, And Ron Hunt Down The...
American author Deepak Chopra said, If you want to do really important things in life and big
things in life, you can t do anything by yourself. And your best teams are your friends and your
siblings, . For example, Mulan fought with her men to protect China, and Katniss fought for the
destruction of the Capitol with District Thirteen. Also, Bilbo and Thorin and Co. fought to get their
gold back from Smaug, yet the most important of all, the Arkenstone. In Harry Potter, Hermione,
and Ron hunt down the Deathly Hallows. The similarity is high only because all hero stories
follow the same monomyth developed by Joseph Campbell. Both the Arkenstone and the Deathly
Hallows serve a purpose and are the cause of a quest; however, the Deathly... Show more content on

Similarly enough, Harry also faces an opponent rivaling for the Deathly Hallows, and it is none
other than Lord Voldemort. The reader knows this clearly when he states that, You Know Who s
after the Elder Wand. (Rowling 431). The opposition, no matter what it is, if overcome will bring
the same amount of value into whatever the hero and villain are fighting for. Furthermore, the
Arkenstone and the Deathly Hallows die out. At the end of Harry s fight with Voldemort and the
school year, he states that, I m putting the Elder Wand, he told Dumbledore, who was watching
him with enormous affection and admiration, Back where it came from. It can stay there...,
(Rowling 749). Considering that the Elder wand came from a tree and trees all start in the ground,
one might infer that Harry has buried it or gotten rid of it in some way. Even though the Arkenstone
wasn t destroyed, it was still made gone when, They buried Thorin deep beneath the Mountain, and
Bard laid the Arkenstone upon his breast. (Tolkien 117). If the Arkenstone was simply buried in the
mountain with no intention of being hidden, one might assume that a prequel would come where
the Arkenstone would be made important again. In order for this to be avoided, the adjectives deep
and beneath are added to show the foot down effect. The reader then knows for sure that the tales of
the Arkenstone done, and their quest

3. The Value of Nature to Humans
The Value of Nature Humans project the value of nature because humans are the only beings that
are able to produce rational thoughts and are therefore, the only beings that value. Since humans are
the only beings that value, they are inherently the only things that determine the value of other
things. In addition to my main thesis, I will address where the valuein nature originates by
explaining the disjoint relationship between humans and non humans. Expanding on my thesis, I
will prove the projection view is correct by showing that all arguments for the recognition view
appeal to projection. Projection, meaning, humans project value on to nature rather than
recognition, meaning, humans recognize the intrinsic value of nature. The value of nature is a
contentious issue that not only concerns environmental ethicists, but also everyday people around
the world. As our world becomes more technologically dependent, it seems that we are becoming
less concerned with nature. In deciding the future of our planet, it is important that we explore the
value of nature and the consequence of destroying it. I will reference and utilize quotes by Holmes
Rolston III from his novel, A New Environmental Ethics, as I evaluate the Euthyphro Problem as it
applies to the value of nature. The recognition view of the value nature articulates that humans
recognize the intrinsic value of nature. Where does the basis for this argument originate? Rolston
defends the idea that if an organism performs

July 20th, 1969 marks a day in which American ingenuity provided three men with the opportunity

7. Ideology In The Selfish Giant, And The Bling Ring
In both the films we watched in class a large range of ideological perspectives were presented, and
those perspectives were largely based upon their director s views and opinions of the world. The
two films were The Selfish Giant directed by Clio Bernard, and The Bling Ring directed by Sophia
Coppola. Ideologyis a very important concept in both films, and it can be defined as a systematic
body of ideas, attitudes, values and perspectives that help shape a particular cultureor group within
that culture. Each director uses formal elements, and character values to show specific ideologies.
In The Bling Ring Sophia Coppla focuses on showing the life style that a group of corrupt teens so
desperately wants to live, and why the culture surrounding them is the reason for their corrupt
values. While the film The Selfish Giant highlights issues of working class people, and a culture
that has put children in a position where stealing to support ones family feels like doing the right
thing. Select characters in each film have a fascination with material things, and although they have
very different reasons for them the side effects they experience because of these fascinations are
very similar. In The Bling Ring the characters have a strong desire to acquire the most popular, and
extravagant fashion items; the motivation behind this desire is that they have learned base their self
worth off the things they own and nothing else. One of the main characters in the film Nick talks

S. A. Chupa Chups is a Multi National Company that has grown internationally since its inception
in 1958. Reasons for successes of this company have been their aggressive approach in developed

problems I noticed with their development were their efforts to diversify from core competencies
and their organization structure that was central based and did not highly promote worldwide
learning from experiences.
Problem I:
The first problem I m noticing in this case is the effort being put forward to diversify from their
core competence, making confectionery products. I do understand that it may be economically

The solution suggests that Chupa Chups will divest itself of all of its auxiliary businesses that are
not part of its core competence. They should outsource to another company that is able to do it with
less resources.
The second option is for Chupa Chups to continue to diversify as they re doing, but instead of
only providing the services to their confectionery business, to acquire other customers who will
need such services. This way, they will be able to realize efficiencies from economies of scale.
Possible drawback(s):
The drawback of implementing the first solution is that Chupa Chups will be losing control of
pieces of their operations. Although the solution proposes an advantage from where they currently
are, it also has the drawback of placing all of their eggs in the same basket.
The second option has an opportunity cost risk. They have to chance of not being as profitable as
possible for their stake holders because of the diversification.
Mechanism to overcome drawback(s):
Depending on which option Chupa Chups wants to go with, there are several mechanisms to
overcome the drawback. If they select solution 1, I would suggest that when outsourcing this
business, they setup a governance board that will manage the relationship with the vendor. This
board should be aware of situations going on and things are likely to impact the operations.
If they select to go with solution 2, they should seriously consider

Trans fat surrounds a majority of the American population, within stores and restaurants, but there
are ways to monitor and somewhat avoid the consumption of unhealthy fats. Though according to
source D, entering a store with the intent of coming out with any item considered healthy may
seem like an impossible task. Within the cartoon, there is a prominent emphasis on the idea that
trans fats are in the majority of what we eat and what people are surrounded by regularly. That
may be the case for a majority of individuals who decide to shop conveniently opposed to actual
grocery stores. The term convenience stores means products aren t necessarily comparable to that
of a grocery store. Depending on the person, time available, and willingness to travel to compile a
healthy diet it is essentially based on those factors and should be considered instead of banning
trans fat. Banning trans fat in Hallowell restaurants would be much like the idea that society has no
real ability to make decisions that are benefiting health wise. When in reality, there are guidelines

b.The aggravating conflict was between American top management (represented by Andrew) and
Korean top management (represented by Mr. Song) in solving the situation. Both believed that
what it wants is incompatible with what the other want (mutually exclusive). The American side
blamed Korean consultants lack of experience for the problem of behind the deadline, while the
Korean side blamed Ellen s capabilities. This conflict was also a dysfunctional conflict as it harmed
the company s harmony and business. If the management could not find a solution to solve conflict,
the company would fail to meet the deadline, which might totally kill the company s reputation.
* Here, the company did not have an appropriate conflict control and solving system. When

16. The Theory Of Science And Scientific Revolutions
Thomas Kuhn was an American philosopher, born in 1922, whom wrote about the distinction
between normal science and revolutionary science. He was interpreted as a destroyer of logical
empiricism throughout his career, and this is because his work seemed to show how interesting it
was to connect philosophical questions about science with questions about the history of science.
Throughout this essay, I will connect these questions together by explaining Kuhn s account of the
structure of normal science and scientific revolutions. Firstly, normal science and revolutionary
science are pieces of a paradigm. A paradigm, in turn, is a whole way of doing science. It is a
package of claims about the world, habits of scientific thought and action,... Show more content on

This could be a successful experiment, or the formulation of a set of laws. These specific
achievements are what Kuhn says causes a paradigm in the narrow sense. This means that
paradigms in the broad sense, include within them, paradigms in the narrow sense. When a
paradigm is used, it is often associated with normal science and revolutionary science. In short,
normal science is well organized. These scientists tend to approach determined important problems
specifically, and assess possible situations. Similarly, they agree on what the world is like in the
broad sense. Revolutionary science, on the other hand, occurs when a paradigm breaks down and is
replaced with another one (77). Karl Popper, born in 1902, presents objections against Kuhn s
normal and revolutionary science arguments, and following I will explain these objections, Kuhn s
replies, and reveal the most important of them all. Popper thought that science was characterized by
permanent openness, however Kuhn disagreed. He thinks that it is false for science to exhibit a
permanent openness to the testing of fundamental ideas and that science would be worse off should
this occur (78). Popper makes another claim about scientific change, stating that science proceeds
through a single process; that of conjecture and refutation. Although there can be revolutions, they
are considered to be larger conjecture and more dramatic refutations. Kuhn rebuttals and states that
this cannot be

The Popularity of Gangster Films in the Early Nineteen Thirties The late 1920s in America was a
particularly tumultuous period of time for the country. The Wall Street Crash in 1929 had led to
high levels of unemployment and dissatisfaction within the country. The Depression (1929 1934),
which was a direct result of The Wall Street Crash, led to a breakdown of industry and commerce

During this period the rise of urban gang rule and mobsters was unprecedented, mainly emerging
from minority immigrant groups (Jewish/Italian/Irish). Initially the gangsters of the period were
seen as high achievers as they were associated with the proletariat and seemed to be capable of
rising above there roots, even during hard times in America, and achieve wealth. When considering
the socio economic factors it is easy to understand why such men were considered as gangster
heroes [3] who represented the people, however the only way that gangsters could achieve this
wealth, subsequently fulfilling the American Dream, was by stealing it. Accruing capital meant
accruing power over others [4]. Therefore it could be argued that the success gangsters
exemplified was a perverse form of the American dream as it disregarded some of the key elements
of the ideal. The fact that at this stage in America gangsters were the only group within society who
could make upward mobility believable, tells much about how legitimate institutions had failed but
that mobility was still at the core of what Americans held to be the American dream [5].
In the early 1930 s productions began within Hollywood of what were commonly described as
social problem pictures [6], these films dealt specifically with the social difficulties of the period
such as unemployment/labour struggles ( Black

On October 26, 1919, in Tehran, Iran, a man was born who would change the course of history
forever. This man fostered some of the best nationalization policies in his country, in addition to
new development programs designed to better the lives of Iranians. His name: Mohammad Reza
Shah Pahlavi (Encyclopaedia Britannica). In 1979, Pahlavi was exiled from his country because
of a political revolution, but it was perhaps his exile more than anything else he did in his life that
was the real turning point, mostly due to the rise of Radical Islam that followed shortly after. Reza

The young player has a lot of style with a straight face while doing so. Christopher O Riley
surprised me when he was using a iPad to automatically flip the pages of his sheet music.
Technology being used in this performance just surprised me. After Tao s performance O Riley

riding and researching them, he basically knows all about them. The next gifted musician
welcomed to stage is a clarinet player from Spartanburg, South Carolina named Nicholas Graham.

a perceived expansive growth that increased the expectations of a company‟s performance. The
telecommunication company became a victim of these expectations, which led to the new
evolution of a fraud designed to deceive the public while the econmy slowly tried to improve

25. Extending The Usage Of Refrigerants On Cooling Systems (...
John Wilkinson Christopher Lessick ENG 111 19 November 2016 Extending the usage of
refrigerants in cooling systems (TBD Words) Imagine sitting at home in the middle of July.
Now, imagine if that day had a high temperature of over 100 degrees, and a heat index of over
115 degrees. If you are living in the United States, then you are probably imagining yourself
sitting in a room with some sort of air conditioning system keeping you cool. That comfort,
however, comes at a price. In 1985, it was discovered that chlorofluorocarbons (CFC s), one of the
main refrigerants used in air conditioning systems, played a substantial role in the depletion of the
ozone layer (Farman, Gardiner and Shanklin). CFC s were ultimately banned as a means of
refrigeration, which ushered in the next generation of coolant types known as hydrofluorocarbons
(HFC s). Unfortunately, systems using these HFCs, however, make a moderate contribution to
global warming because of their efficiency and low emission rates. (Sand, Fisher and Baxter, P.E.).
While addressing the issue of the ozone layer, HFCs initiated a new set problems themselves,
including having an increased Global Warming Potential (GWP). Despite the negative
environmental impacts of the past, the use of refrigerants in home cooling systems should continue.
Beginning in the late 1800 s, air conditioning systems have been a part of everyday living. From
through the window air conditioners to centralized duct systems, nearly every home built in

26. The Importance of Documenting Patient Status and Care
Documentation of patient status and care is important for a variety of reasons. First, it allows
health care professionals to plan and evaluate treatment. Health care records are also used as a
communication tool by multidisciplinary teams. Documentation is also used as evidence in legal
matters, and for reimbursements. Health care agenizes also use electronic health recorddata to study
and improve future care. Because there are so many things that health records are used for there are
important things you should be sure to include. When documenting the most crucial parts is
documenting interventions and the patients reactions to chosen interventions. If there are any
significant events or changes in the patient or the plan it must be documented. Always be sure to
documentif and when informed consent for procedures and actions is needed. If the patient refuses
treatment or leaves against medical advice be sure to document. Medications are always
documented along with any occurrences such as medication errors or falls. Most importantly
always include the date and time on all of the notes. With all this information that should be
included in documentation it is helpful to sort it into subjective and objective data. Objective data
is going to be something that is gathered through physical assessment or from lab and diagnostic
tests. Most objective data can be measured such as vital signs. Subjective data is information given

The Age of Disillusionment The Age of Disillusionment can be defined as a time when tragedies
such as war and poverty caused many to lose their naГЇve and carefree way of life. During this
time, people believed life was dangerous, and they were afraid of what would happen next in their
lives. The fear they felt during this time was a result of World War I
, World War II, the Great
Depression, and the devastation they brought (Hitt). Much like President Woodrow Wilsons War
Message to Congress and Phillip Larkin s poem MCMXIV, the Age of Disillusionment was filled
with hopelessness and fear as a result of tragic events such as the sinking of the passenger ship, the
Lusitania. On May 1, 1915, the British passenger ship, the Lusitania, set sail from ... Show more

He knew he had to do something to stop the tyrannical German government from wreaking any
more havoc upon the lives of civilians (Wilson). President Wilson s speech is very characteristic
of the Age of Disillusionment because, like many works during the age, his speech is about
people coming to terms with the fact that their loved ones have died and how they feel hopeless
for a better life. During this age, people began to question whether they were safe (Hitt).
President Wilson says the only way to ensure a safer life and better future for all, was to go to
war with Germany. He knew that people would be scared to take such a large risk, and knew that
many would die, but he also knew that it must be done. Four days after his speech, the United
States of America officially entered World War I (Wilson). The amount of loss that was to come in
the war would only lead to Americans being more fearful and the feeling of disillusionment during
the age would only grow. As a result, the literary aspect of the Age of Disillusionment flourished

We cannot speak about anti Mexican sentiment without first knowing what it is. The Anti Mexican
sentiment refers to the dislike from the Americans for the people considered to be of Mexican
descent; A type of racism of sorts. The Confederate Flag is said to be part of this movement, even
targeting Mexican culture in a speech revealing it in 1861 given by Sallie Smith in Marshall, TX. In
this speech Smith made statements calling Mexicans dastardly and demonic . Sentiments did not
actually begin in the United States. It was something started in England for those against people
who were Spanish and Catholic fueled by false assumptions of the actions of Latin America.
Americans received word of what had been established in England the decision had been made to
carry the same thought, deeming those with Mexican culture with accents as such to be evil and

THE DUEL OF ALEXANDER HAMILTON AND AARON BURR
On July 11th 1804 in the early hours of the morning two men met at a private location to defend
their honor and settle a dispute that had been building for possible more than two decades. The
dispute would be settled by a duel leaving one man unharmed and the other fatally wounded with
less than a day to live. The names of the two men were Alexander Hamilton and Aaron Burr. Even
though both men knew what the consequences would be if they accepted the challenge of a duel
they still decided to participate and defend their honor which in those days was how a man was
valued, if you could not stand by your word and were not an honorable man you were not
trustworthy and certainly not respectable.
I found this particular story very captivating because these two men had so much in common you
would think that they would have become friends instead of mortal enemies, they were both born

illegitimately and out of wedlock they still both went on to pursue very similar lives and careers.

this from happening in the future. Various stakeholders were affected by this crisis, for example
parents, children, manufacturers and investors. Which is why Mattel had to come with a strong
crisis communicationstrategy.
Within a few days the factory that produced the tainted toys was identified and the production was

A strength of the implemented strategy was the use of several media channels (TV, newspaper

transparency and sincerity of the message were well communicated to the public. Because being
honest and direct when addressing the target audiences about what happened is of utmost
importance. Mattel communicated the new safety regulations, the reassurance that measures had
been taken to prevent this from happening in the future and a public apology from the CEO
clearly. The video of the CEO was another strength of the crisis communication strategy. Because
with a video you can reach a very large audience and the public can see if you are sincere. A

During the Great Depression, it should be remembered, the unemployment rate in the US peaked at
around 22%, and it averaged a staggering 16% in the 1930s. In the lesser depression that the US
economy is emerging from now, thanks to the radical and fearless monetary policy settings
delivered by Bernanke, the unemployment rate peaked at 10% and since the market and economy
crash started in 2008, the unemployment rate had averaged around 8%. On these facts alone,
Bernanke should deserve unquestioned praise.
Bernanke s comment that the Fed would maintain highly accommodative monetary policy for
the foreseeable future sparked the mood swing on Wall Street. As noted on above, this is
appropriate, but what the market may be missing is what highly accommodative policy actually
means, at least to the Federal Reserve. It is not unreasonable to think that holding interest rates
near zero for the next couple of years is accommodative . It most certainly is. Maintaining bond
purchases is also obviously accommodative policy, but there could be a subtlety in Bernanke s
likely approach. If in coming months interest rates are held at zero (which is as certain as anyone
can be on any policy setting), yet the Fed starts to scale back its $85 billion bond purchases a
month to $75 billion, then $50 billion and so on, there is still no question that policy is still
accommodative, but a little less than it was before.
This may be well understood in the bond market, where

Bone transplants are the most performed tissue transplantations in the world. The problem with
recent bone tissue transplants is that they have too many limitations. For instance, the recent
techniques for bone tissue transplants have a high failure rate, which can lead up to 50% in
numerous locations of the human body. Because of these limitations, biomaterials which can
replace the bone tissue have been developed. [Graham G. Walmsley et al. July 2015]

Normal Heart Rate Chart
The heart is an organ located just behind and slightly to the left of the breastbone, and pumps blood
through a network of veins and arteries known as the circulatory system. The right atrium is sent
blood from the veins, and delivers it to the right ventricle. It is then pumped to the lungs where it is

left ventricle, where it is pumped throughout the body, and the ventricle contractions create blood
pressure.

Heart Rate During Exercise
Your maximum heart rate is the highest heart rate that is achieved during strenuous exercise. One
method to calculate your approximate maximum heart rate is the formula: 220 (your age) =
approximate maximum heart rate. For example, a 30 year old s approximate maximum heart rate
is 220 30 = 190 beats/min.
You can maximize the benefits and reduce the risks when you are exercising within your target
heart rate zone. Your target heart rate when exercising is normally 60 to 80 percent of your
maximum heart rate. This may be increased or decreased depending on your health factors, and
your health care provider may want you to limit the target heart rate zone to 50 percent. However,
it is not recommended to exceed 85 percent of your maximum heart rate. Anything above 85 percent

Peripeteia means a turning point or a reversal moment, while anagnorisis means a point where a

Tom could do the same! Tom could utilize the waste and turn it into something profitable. He

40. Trigger Warning
Trigger warnings and the underlying issue In the essay The Coddling of the American Mind ,
Greg Lukianoff and Jonathan Haidt argue trigger warnings are hindering the learning
experience in college. While this is true it goes farther than just that, there is an epidemic of a
certain mentality spreading across the United States. This mentality is that everyone is
deserving of content warnings, whether it be graphic, on paper, or ideas in a discussion
everywhere they go. This is a terrible mentality to have, because it breeds an underlying issue.
The issue at hand is a psychological issue that can be treated over time. The issue s severity
depends on what the person wants a trigger warning for. In the extreme cases, there are
completely unreasonable demands for warnings because it could be too common, there would be
too many warnings, while in other cases it is more reasonable but still should not become the
norm of society. If trigger warnings become the norm for the world it would cause harm to
individuals minds and society. To begin with, what is a trigger warning or content warning? Both
trigger warnings and content warnings can be used in place of one another because they stand for
the same thing. A trigger warning is a warning that means there is a topic or idea that will be
discussed or shown visually that could cause stressto some people. These can range from
reasonable topics such as rape, abuse, or death. Those topics rarely come up in day to day
conversations and contain some of the worst acts a human can do, and it is reasonable to offer
trigger warnings for these topics. It is not acceptable, however, to require these warnings on
everyone that talks about these topics. On the other extreme some people could claim to have
been offended at ordinary topics that show up in daily conversation. A short story in Greg
Lukianoff and Jonathan Haidt s paper was about a professor, Francis Schmidt, that had received a
suspension from a harmless action. This action was that he posted a picture of his daughter on
Facebook, who happened to be wearing a shirt with a Game of Thrones quote. A student took this

Explain why the NEP was unpopular with many communists in the 1920 s USSR.
The NEP, abbreviation for the New Economic Policy , was a number of policies deployed by
Vladimir Lenin to improve the conditions of post war USSR. The NEP replaced the system of War
Communism which was used between 1918 and 1921. The main motive for the War Communism
policy was to support and supply the Red Army with food and weapons during the Russian Civil
War. However, after the war the country was in turmoil and the majority of the Soviet Union s
population suffered hardship and poverty. This was when a quick solution was needed to revamp
the Russian economy and the NEP policies were the solution. The NEP was made to balance the
needs of the well of and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Other European countries used much more modernised equipments. However, the NEP does not
encourage this modernisation which could in fact dramatically improve the country s economy.
Grain export was the most important source for their agriculture yet the exports were three fourth
lower than it was a decade ago. This left the Russian economy to be far behind in modernisation
than any other European countries. Modernisation was pivotal as it can enhance a country s
strength in many ways. Most importantly, it would help support Russia s military at a time where
an invasion to any European country could be foreseen. The Communists were afraid of this, since
they were prone to any invasion with their weapons being out of date. The Communists felt they
should be a major industrialization powerhouse against other European rivals such as Germany
however the NEP would make the country even more vulnerable.
Moreover, peasant realised feeding themselves is more important than buying insignificant
consumer goods. So, they held grain for themselves and the grain export seems to have been
abandoned. A system scale of individual peasant farming under the NEP couldn t support plans for
industrialisation and the Communists were out of favour for this plan and so, the current NEP
policy needs to be replaced by a more vigorous and rapid one.
Developing the Russian economy would further be significant as there was an increase in
unemployment. The idleness was

There is nothing that can stop wisdom. When you discover this power, you will become an
unstoppable threat to the kingdom of satan. Ecclesiastes Chapter nine mentions a king who
entered a small city and took total control of it, and kept the people in bondage by building
snares around it. The people lived under his communistic views and no one dared to confront
him. However, in that city there was found a poor wise man (Ecclesiastes 9:15), who was fed up
and tired of abuse and tired of living like a slave of men. He had no money, no influence, no
connections with other kings, nor was he trained to battle, yet he possessed one thing called
wisdom. With his wisdom he took that city out of the control of this king and he delivered it. The

43. The Impact Of Sports On College From A Professional And...
Introduction
In this paper, I will discuss the history of the development of athletics in higher education tracing
roots from England through modern day sports. I will also discuss some of the issues of sports in
higher education face and discuss some of the actions that have been taken to pacify these issues.
Finally, I will conclude this with a brief synopsis of the benefits of sports in college from a
professional and non professional activity standpoint. (FPO)
Historical Development
General History
English universities were enclosed with a structure similar to what we know as prisons today.
Universities were gated communities as a means of deterring students from engaging with the
commoners. Within these campuses, students were provided with activities that would allow for
the exhaustion of energy and physical fitness (Delbanco, 2014).(P38)
U.S. History
Early in the United States higher education system, sports were regarded as a waste of time, as
emphasis was placed on academic rigor. Since most of the American higher education system was
based on the structure of English universities, students were to take on a likeness of their professors
as further explained, an important part was...to witness social and intellectual exchange among their
superiors, in hope that they would aspire someday to be worthy of sitting among them (Delbanco,
2014, P.38). Because of this thought, and American s desire for higher achievement than the
English schools, early United States

44. Imperialism In Hawaii Speech
According to the information present in the speech given by a man named, Sanford J Dole, the
Americans imperializing Hawai i was a constructive motion. This is due to the fact that throughout
the speech, Dole informs his audience on the benefits both the Hawaiians and Hawai i would gain
through Hawai i being a territory of the United States(US). The speech was given on June 10th,
1900, at Iolani Palace, after Dole was elected to be the governor of the Territory of Hawai i. As
the speech is an original document, it is a primary source. Based on the information provided in
the speech, the message Dole is trying to convey is that the day Hawai i became a territory of the
US, is one of the most important days in Hawaiian history. This is because... Show more content on

This primary source assists in answering the question, Was imperialism constructive or
deconstructive, as it gives numerous examples of how the US imperialising Hawai i was
constructive. The examples included the ways the Hawaiians and Hawai i benefited from being a
territory of the US. Since the speech gives a clear western perspective on the US imperialising
Hawai i and clearly shows the audience whether imperialism was constructive or destructive for a
western perspective, it is valuable. Therefore, the examples and the clear perspective provided
assists in answering the overall question of whether imperialism was constructive or destructive.
Regardless of the valuable information sources possess, they all also have limitations. The first
limitation of the source is that the speech doesn t show both sides of imperialism. This is because
the speech only demonstrates how imperialism was constructive, and doesn t state anything about
how it may have been destructive. Another limitation is that the speech was written from a western
perspective, therefore it was written from the perspective of the people from the country that was

Me: So Mr. Bright, what is your overall opinion about sanctioning swimming in Idaho?
Mr. Bright: Well, I do believe that it should be sanctioned in Idaho, I have seen a lot more
swimmers this year then I think that I have seen in previous years.
Me: Oh yes! This year is our biggest team that we have had in the entire history of the Kimberly
swim team, with about twenty seven kids in total.
Mr. Bright: Yes, that is right I remember now that this year we had a huge number of kids join. That
is another reason that I want to sanction swimming in Idaho is because of the growing number of
students that are joining over the years.

Mr. Bright: Then yes, I think that would work pretty well. I know that wrestling has a co op
program with other schools as well. So we can plan on hopefully working with those schools to
plan a efficient budget plan that we can set throughout the season, but when districts and state come
for swimming then we would all just work on our own individual school budgets for travel and
hotels. What schools do you practice with at the pool in Twin Falls?
Me: Well, we practice with Twin Falls High School, Canyon Ridge, Jerome, Minico and Rupert.
Mr. Bright: Buhl and Filer do not practice with you guys?

46. Characterization And Imagery In A White Heron By Sarah...
In the excerpt from her novel, A White Heron, Sarah Orne Jewett utilizes characterization and
imagery to dramatize her young heroine s adventure, shifting the tone from ambivalent to
triumphant. Aided by characterization and imagery, the story s initial tone is ambivalent because
of the mixed emotions Sylvia feels while climbing. Sylvia is first described as daring, She had
always believed that whoever climbed to the top of it could see the ocean... Sylvia began with the
utmost bravery to mount to the top of it . As the story develops, Sylvia s courage remains intact
when climbing becomes strenuous, The way was harder than she thought... the sharp dry twigs held
her and scratched her like angry talons . The author s use of characterization shows the reader how
courageous Sylvia is. The ambivalent tone is created through the rising tension that is described
throughout Sylvia s characterization. While... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Additionally, the author uses imagery to develop the tone. The narrator described the tree itself:

climbing, there is no reason to believe that the act of climbing could become difficult based on the
imagery provided. In fact, the tree s beautiful appearance almost begs Sylvia to climb it in the
paling moonlight . While climbing, however, the ambivalent tone progresses as the tree seems to

47. What Are The Metaphors In Lord Of The Ring
The Lord of The Ring s trilogy is considered one of the greatest Hollywood films in the century.
These films have broken several movie records for the Hollywood industry. Also, these movies
relate with an all age audience because of the great development of all the characters in the movie.
To be clear, some would say that they feel like they know the characters after watching the trilogy.
In my experience after watching the trilogy, it left me in aww because the different aspects of filmit
portrayed. Nevertheless, after watching the trilogy twice I became more familiar with some
metaphors the author, J.R Tolkien, was trying to reveal. Overall, these metaphors can be seen
through the Ring, Gandalf s role and the friendship between Frodo and Sam.
Notably the ring is a symbol of pure evil in these trilogies. In these films, anyone that stumbled
upon the ring would be overcome by its power and will try to take it. For an example, you can
see the power of the ring dividing fellowships throughout these films. To be specific in the
beginning of the third movie golem was overcome by the rings power, which led him to kill his
best friend. The metaphor of the ring can be classified as the evil in a person s life. Furthermore,

Frodo hurt Sam by telling him to go away. This shows a strong bond of friendship even under the
trials through their adventures. In the second film Frodo tell Sam I am glad you are here with

48. Informative Effects Of Holocaust Concentration Camps

Informative essay
Holocaust Concentration Camps The Holocaust nearly made the Jewish population and religion
disappear from the face of the Earth. From January 30, 1933 to May 8, 1945; Adolf Hitler,
German politician and leader of the Nazi party, ran the Holocaust all over Germany and Eastern
Europe. Prisoners and victims of the Holocaust include: the majority of the Jewish population,
German Communists, Socialists, Social Democrats, Roma (Gypsies), Jehovah s Witnesses,
homosexuals, and people accused of socially deviant or socially unacceptable behavior. They
were sent to many different areas that had different purposes. The most used places they were
sent to are called concentration camps. Once they entered the concentration camps, there was no
escaping; those people officially became prisoners. There were 23 main concentration camps and
around 900 sub camps. Concentration camps tricked the Jewish people into coming into them by
offering them a better life on the welcoming signs outside. Some of the main camps had many
different inhumane uses. All of the camps are notorious for their cruel and evil ways of
everything that they did to prisoners, such as the genocide the Holocaust caused (Concentration
Camps, Killing Methods, Jewish Population). A lesser known camp, Westerbork, is located in the
Netherlands. This concentration camp was known as a Transit camp, which meant it wasn t the
end of the line for the prisoners who arrived there. These camps were a temporary accommodation
for the groups of prisoners that were being shipped throughout the country. Often these camps are
where families were split up by German Nazi soldiers. Westerbork was used from October 1939
through April 1945. This camp was shut down by Canadian liberation. Westerbork still stands as a
monument today (Concentration Camps). The next concentration camp, Dachau, is located in
Germany. This camp was the longest running major concentration camp throughout the Holocaust.
It started being used in March 1933 and was not shut down until April 1945. This was a forced
labor camp, so the majority of people survived when at this camp, but you didn t always get to stay
there unless you worked as hard as

49. Why Did Sir Arthur Conan Doyle Plagiarize
A Thief Observed:
Why Stephen Bertman s Work on Plagiarism is a Respectable Academic Source Did Sir Arthur
Conan Doyle plagiarize Edgar Allan Poe? This idea has been contested for over a century and has
come to a consensus that Doyle did indeed base Sherlock Holmes off of Poe s character known as
C. Auguste Dupin. In Stephen Bertman s, Kindred Crimes: Poe s The Murders in the Rue Morgue
and Doyle s The Sign of Four , he looks deeper into the debate by comparing Doyle s The Sign of
Four to Poe s The Murders in the Rue Morgue , and analyzing whether Doyle plagiarized Poe s
plot. Bertman s essay may be considerably short in length, but it does make a fair analysis on
whether or not Doyle plagiarized Poe. His essay s credibility as a ... Show more content on

Bertman s essay does pose a few significant points, but lacks in originality. He does make the
notion that Doyle plagiarized Poe s plot from his short story, The Murders in the Rue Morgue
and applied it to his book, The Sign of Four, and while this point is notably significant, Bertman
relies heavily on others work to make it. This is shown when Bertman introduces a much older
but still intriguing essay by writing, In 1901 Simon Sidney Teiser, then an undergraduate at the
University of Virginia, charged him with piracy in a published essay provocatively title Is Doyle
a Plagiarist? (208). By introducing this essay, Bertman is further convincing the audience that
Doyle is a plagiarist, but he neglects to go any farther with that notion. Bertman fails to take a
stance on the idea of Doyle s plagiarism, making the essay a little muddled and confusing. The
reader can not tell how Bertman truly feels about the plagiarism. The mild influence, the heavy
reliance on other sources, and the lack of stance all contribute to Bertman s essay s significance
and originality. This essay has a fair enough amount of significance and originality, but there is

50. The Use Of Weather In Santa Ana By Joan Didion
In the essay Santa Ana Joan Didion uses a variety of rhetorical devices to broadcast the idea that
the weather can actually set the mood and reputation of a town. She also show cases that the
attitude of people around us can have an effect on the way we view things. I can relate to this
because most of the time we learn about things it is from our peers, so their attitude will wear off
on us when we come into that situation. With this essay she emphasizes that a place can be very
important for he because of what it represents. I can agree with her on this because there are
several places for me that represent important experiences that I ve had in my life.
The speaker references the horrible weather in Santa Ana and how the wind could change the
mindset of the people who live there. She describes it as being depressing the type of weather that
no one liked yet it effected everyone. She describes the town in a very unearthly manner. She
speaks of how the wind in Santa Ana would commonly underestimated because there were so many
people from other countries who believed that California s weather was monotone, meaning that it
always stayed the same with no extremes. She expresses her truth that the weather infected the air
with violence. Throughout the essay she is uneasy which is shown by her use of mysterious words.
The author begins the essay with a tone that is kind of spooky which puts the reader in an
unsettling mindset. There is something uneasy in the Los Angeles air this afternoon, some
unnatural stillness, some tension. What it means is that tonight a Santa Ana will begin to blow, a
hot wind from the northeast whining down through the Cajon and San Gorgonio Passes,
blowing up sand storms out along Route 66, drying the hills and the nerves to flash point. Here
she uses imagery to assist her audience in becoming as engaged in her surroundings as she is.
Doing this also helps her audience feel the same way as the speaker, who seems to be frightened
and anxious about what could happen next. She is told stories of how the natives responded to the
wind changing the way it is currently. As she is listens to the stories of the town it s as if she is
listening to stories that go along with a haunted house

Jessica Lunsford was a nine year old girl who was abducted from her grandmother s house, taken

she put her to bed the night before and hadn t noticed anything.

from waking up and reacting. If blood evidence was found it would the whole object would be
let to dry then packaged in a paper bag, and the paper bag slapped with an evidence tag and filled
out with all of the pertinent information for the case. Next the place where the stuffed animals
were would be examined and dusted for finger prints, the kidnapper may have left some when
they were taking the stuffed animals. If any were found they would also be photographed scaled
and evidence tagged, before being lifted and placed on evidence cards with the information
filled out in full. If any torn fabric or other trace evidence is found at the crime scene it will be

52. Analysis Of Mcewan s Atonement By Ian Mcewan
When it comes to the personal, uncontrollable misfortunes in life, there seems to be two main
ways to handle it: either ignore it, or face it then and there. Ian McEwan s Atonement is a prime
example of this struggle in dealing with traumatic situations. In Paper One, I stated that McEwan
suggests the best way to deal with life s traumas is to face them head on rather than to completely
ignore them. McEwan shows this through the mistakes Briony makes as her innocence misguides
her into a divided relationship with her sister Cecilia. Similarly, Robbie faces the traumatic war
experiences and separation from Cecilia which puts himself in a tense situation that he cannot
entirely grapple. In both cases, it s apparent that facing traumas head on leads the characters to
reflect upon their choices and overcome weaknesses. However, in Parts Two and Three, Briony s
personal stories, interpretation of events, and reflection of her choices imply something else. I
think it s clear that McEwan ultimately emphasizes that a better way to cope with trauma is to
write about them in the form of stories. Doing so allows one to not only acknowledge the traumas,
but also to move beyond it, control it, and lessen its severity. These beneficial effects can only be
achieved through means of writing stories. Writing stories forces one to acknowledge one s trauma
and eventually embrace it. Briony takes advantage of this during her nursing experiences which
forces her to mature and become independent.

53. Rosalie Metaphors
The way this book is written tricks me up sometimes because it goes from talking in past tense to
the quotes being in present tense and she also refers to the readers. It was strange to read at first,
but once I got the hang of it the book was made more enjoyable because of it. Matilda seems to
be in the background the whole time. She is present, but in the background. She seems to like to
keep to herself and listened to her sister when Rosalie was around, but never makes large
impressions on Agnes. Rosalie on the other hand makes that huge impression, when she turns
back and gives Agnes that hug. I almost forgave her for messing with all those boys. It showed
to me that deep inside she does have a heart and cared about people. Then when Agnes gets that
letter from Rosalie I realized that she was always going to be a little bit of a brat. She, what I
took as, whined for Agnes to come and visit her. Then she went on to tall Agnes about her
charming child. I feel bad that her husband does not like that it was a girl, but technically it was
his fault. I feel bad for that child though. She is going to have to grow up with a brat of a motherand
