2. What Are the Positive and Negative Aspects of the Aromic...
The First Only Atomic Bomb
The atomic bomb, also known as the atom bomb or fission bomb, a weapon whose explosive
power originates from the fission of atomic nuclei, a reaction in which an atomic nucleus splits
in two. When the nucleus of a heavy atom, such as the element uranium 235, which is what the
atom bomb is made out of, is split, a certain amount of mass disappears and an equivalent amount
of energy is released. This was expressed by the equation E=mc2 (energy = mass times the speed
of light squared). This is the energy that powers an atom bomb. On a pound for pound basis, the U
235 in an atomic bomb can release on the order of one million times as much energy as TNT, a
high explosive. The atomic bomb is the first nuclear ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Through the atom bomb, scientist have discovered how to harness the power of nuclear energy.
Nuclear power plants are far more efficient than traditional power plants. The medical field has also
taken advantage of the atomic bomb. Technology used in the atomic bomb is also used for CAT
scans and chemotherapy.
What Was The Outcome Of The Manhattan Project?
In 1945 the United States covert operation known as The Manhattan Project achieved its goal to
create the first atomic bomb. Since its inception in 1939, scientist had struggled to find a way to
harness the power of fission. Through the combined efforts of many, a test bomb known as Fat
Boy was finally created. On July 16, 1945 in a desert in New Mexico the worlds first nuclear
test, codenamed Trinity, was conducted and ushered in the Atomic Age. The Trinity test success
led to the creation of two more atomic bombs that would be used in WWII. On August 6, 1945
the American B 29 bomber known as the Enola Gay released the first atomic bomb to be used in
warfare. The 9,000 pound bomb nicknamed Little Boy detonated in Hiroshima, Japan. Little Boy s
explosion was catastrophic and resulted in 66 thousand instantaneous deaths. Total vaporization
from the blast measured one half a mile in diameter. Total destruction ranged one mile in diameter
and serious blazes extended as far as three miles in diameter. Three days after the release of Little
Boy a second bomb named Fat Man was released on the town of Nagasaki.

4. Character Strength in One Day in the Life of Ivan...
Character Strength in One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich by Alexander Solzhenitsyn
One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich is a novel about survival.
Solzhenitsyn shows us how even in seemingly atrocious circumstances each person can find
sources of strength that gives them the will to carry on. Many of the things that the prisoners think
of as their sources of strengths would mean nothing to us, but if one thinks about it, without them
we would perhaps lose the will to carry on.
Most of the prisoners have more than one source of strength, perhaps subconsciously they have
made their own fail safes. If they lost one source, they would have other more personal reasons to
carry on. The two main factors of strength that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He studies the New Testament and he uses literature to cut out the outside world. Shukhov does not
seem like a religious man, but as one goes further into the novel, one begins to see him taking a
bigger interest in religion, and more importantly, faith. Alyosha tries to show Shukhov that faith
is the strongest source of strength, and he tells Shukhov to try to see the importance of spiritual
goods rather than material goods. However, objects have a lot of importance to all of the
prisoners. Aloysha hides his New Testament to avoid it being confiscated just Shukhov hides his
bread. This shows us that the Bible is as important to Alyosha as bread is to Shukhov. At the end
of the novel Shukhov gives away a biscuit to Alyosha and expects nothing in return. This shows
that he has taken Alyosha s advice and has chosen to feel spiritual accomplishment rather than
keeping the material good. Property is another source of strength in the novel. Possessing
something that other prisoners do not have is a way of showing individuality in a place where
all the prisoners are marked as the same, ignoring what they have or have not done. Shukhov s
spoon is also very symbolic. Shukhov is forced to hide the spoon in order to keep it from being
taken by the guards. In a way this shows us how the camp tries to take away anything that gives the
prisoners a sense of individuality, or anything that gives them happiness.

5. Dr. Faustus Essay
Dr. Faustus
Dr. Faustus, written by Christopher, is the story of a man that represents the common human
dissatisfaction with being human. He sells his soul to the devil for what he believes to be limitless
power, with full logical knowledge as to the consequences of such a transaction. He knows the
stakes of his gamble with the devil. His extensive education and his cultural environment had
certainly alerted him as to the dangers associated with Lucifer. Although aware of the
consequences of such a pact, he is blinded by three things that bring about his ultimate demise. His
greed to know all, his pride that made him believe he was better than man, and his denial that in the
end he would bring his own ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Unfortunately for Faustus his pride was not morally healthy. Faustus would rather retain his pride
than admit that he was at fault. He blames his parents, predestination, and appeals both to Christ
and Lucifer.

Now draw up Faustus like a foggy mist. Cursed be the parents that endangered me. quot; (Marlowe
p.55)
His final damnation not only results from the immoral acts that he has committed throughout his
life, nor his contract with the devil, but rather his pride, the emotion that condemns him into eternal
hell.
Last, but not least is the prevailing quality that Dr. Faustus follows throughout the book, greed.
Because of his greed he had everything. However much it was, he wanted more. He was smart,
wealthy, and even had an excellent well respected job, but was not satisfied with all of his
accomplishments. His overwhelming greed to best and own the best led him to make his pact with
the devil. He was tempted with the ability to have whatever he desired.

Source 1 mentions Canada as the world s 11th largest economy but with a large percentage of its
population being comprised of immigrants. However, due to a declining workforce and a lack of
skilled workers, more immigrants are urgently needed. David Olive, author of this source in The
Toronto Star, believes that Canadaneeds to be more welcoming to immigrants for the sake of the
economy. Compared to Canadian natives, immigrants face a plethora of problems in regards to
finding jobs. In Canada there is a stubborn gap between skilled first generation immigrants and the
general populationwhen it comes to being able to secure employment, decent housing and adequate
pay . Potential immigrants often opt out of immigrationbecause to them it isn t worth it if they have
to take lower paying jobs that aren t in their original field of work. Immigrants often convey these
struggles and challenges to their home country consequently discouraging other potential
immigrants. Solving the issues immigrants currently confront is thus integral to the long term
prosperity of Canada s economy . The source recommends fast tracking credentials while the
immigrant is in their home country as well as allowing temporary foreign workers and international
students (who have graduated from Canada) to have a quicker way to permanent residence.
Through this source, David Olive is ultimately trying to say that for Canada s economy to stay
competitive, we must help immigrants arrive here, and make their

9. Burial In Sophocles Antigone
In Sophocles play Antigone, two brothers, Eteocles and Polynices fight for the thrown of Thebes.
The war comes to an end when both brothers die fighting for the honor, and their uncle Creon
becomes the king of Thebes. Upon his coronation, Creon issues a decree that Eteocles, the former
king of Thebes, will be honored with a traditional military burial, while his brother Polynices will
be left unwept, unburied, a lovely treasure for birds that scan the field and feast to their heart s
content (Sophocles, 60). Antigone, one of the two sisters, outraged by this ruling, takes matters
into her own hands and goes against this newly established law by properly burying her brother.
Ultimately Antigone sets aside the political law and does what s morally right by honoring her
brother with a traditional burial. I will argue that Antigone s decision to bury her brother was the
right decision. While she may have disobeyed the law put in place by the newly appointed
inexperienced king of Thebes, she was in turn honoring her brother and the long standing traditions
and expectations of the g ds, principles much more important than the arbitrary laws of the state.
I would argue that most importantly, Creon s law was arbitrary. Creon says in a discussion he has
with Haemon, Am I to rule this land for others or myself? after a short dialogue back and forth
where Haemon argues that a city is not owned by one man alone, Creon declares that The city is

Internal communication can be seen as the oil that makes a company run smoothly or the bridge

communication leads to superior understanding and encourages knowledge sharing, which can be
only a positive aspect for the well functioning of an organization (Institute of Internal

Radio 21
Radio 21, also known as one of the most popular private networks in Bucharest, Romania, is a
small radio station with a major impact on the target group between 15 and 25 years old (Berry,
2004). It is primarily based on the practice of airing radio advertisements, while it broadcasts music
hits, entertaining content and news bulletins (Psychogiopoulou, 2012). Furthermore, the slogan of
Radio 21, Station of fun , is easy to remember and communicates the uniqueness of its company in a
fairly straightforward, focused and clear manner.
Radio 21 used to be the No.1 radio in Bucharest a few years ago, but due to the evolution of other
private radio stations and a change in listeners preferences, Radio 21 suffered a considerable loss

11. Planning Policies On Social Life
Planning policies on Social Life in Cities
For year s urban policy and strategy has been dominated by thinking about the physical city:
landmark architecture, transport, housing, urban development, and increasingly the technological
infrastructure to create smarter, more productive, and greener cities. Clearly social issues like
health, education, employment and public safety matter to city leaders but policy and public
services deal with people in the abstract rather than the particular, which is why so often, plans
diverge from reality in unpredictable and unintended ways. The social life of cities, in particular
the ordinary, the small scale and mundane aspects of urban life, are commonly overlooked as a
source of insight and inspiration for city planners and decision makers.
Looking at the everyday life of city streets and neighborhoods provides a perspective on cities,
social change and the radical variety of urban life, that is dramatically different to thinking about the
city as an intelligent network or transport system with predefined ideas about how people will
behave that is more of how the social planning do. Social planning is the process by which
policymakers legislators, government agencies, planners, and, often, funders try to solve
community problems or improve conditions in the community by devising and implementing
policies intended to have certain results. These policies may take the form of laws, regulations,
incentives, media campaigns,

12. History Paper By Alex Prindle
History Paper by Alex Prindle
The definition of civilization or whether a culture is considered civilized or not has been argued
throughout the course of history. Groups such as the Mongols, the ethnic groups surrounding
the Roman Empire, and just about every group of people not part of a large, unified, strong
empire in ancient history especially, has been thought of by their superior empire peoples as
barbaric and uncivilized. Through the comparison of Tacitus s Germania, and Sima Qian s
Account of the Xiongnu, it has been established that Tacitus paints a the Germans as a simple,
and barbaric uncivilized group of people, whereas Sima Qian looks at the Xingu as barbarians,
but respects them as a power a bit more. This is in regards to how children are trained, military
tactics used, traditional family life, and the availability and use of resources of these certain ethnic
groups. Although there are some similarities between Tacitus and Sima Qian s portrayal of
different ethnic groups, there were also some distinct differences between the ways both authors
portrayed their enemy neighbors. Specifically, Sima Qian does not try to show his bias of
superiority of the Han Chinese Empire as much as Tacitus s more blatant belief that the Roman
Empire is far superior to the Germanic tribes in the north. Stronger groups tend to look down on
the weaker groups over the course of history, and while I don t find any civilization mentioned in

13. Terrorism And The Constitution Act
Terrorism and the Constitution is organized in four parts. The first provides an historical
account of federal investigations of First Amendment activities, focusing on the FBI s
investigative activities prior to 9/11. The authors make a persuasive case that the FBI s
investigative power has frequently been used to harass those involved in controversial political
activities, and to disrupt controversial social movements, even where no evidence of illegal
activity has been noted. To do this, the authors begin the book with five stories, examples of the
recurring nature of the government s misguided response to ideological threats. The stories begin
in the years of the Cold War and end in an account of law enforcement since 2001. In Part Three,
Cole and Dempsey focus on the Anti Terrorism Act of 1996, a forerunner to the Patriot Act that
helped to establish the legal framework for today s domestic war on terror. The act allows the
State Department to designate Foreign Terrorist Organizations in a process that is highly
politicized and lacking sufficient objective criteria. It also makes it possible for government
prosecutors to bring cases against individuals without proof that they have engaged in terrorism,
aided or abetted terrorists, or planned to commit terrorism. Under the 1996 act, the government may
freeze the assets of designated terrorist groups and use secret witnesses against those suspected of
having links to terrorists. Because many of the 9/11 terrorists

The vampire is not by any means a new manifestation of the fears of a society. Their presence in
human culture can be traced back for centuries in human folklore. The first Anglicized
representations of the creature in literature date back to the English poetry of the early 1700s,
and were then followed in the fiction genre by such works as John William Polidori s The
Vampyre, Sheridan Le Fanu s Carmilla, and of course, Bram Stoker s Dracula. For the audiences of
the 18th century, vampires embodied many of the following common fears shared between the
people: of illness, both mental and epidemic, of an embraced sexuality, particularly that of women s
and homosexuals , and of foreigners. As the archetypical vampire evolved throughout the... Show

Butler s vampires do not embody the fears and anxieties of the society they infiltrate; rather,
Butler shifts the monstrosity from the vampiric figure to the social ills those figures face. The
reader is not inspired to reject the vampire as villain but rather to demonize the systematic
oppression which, in the case of Fledgling, the protagonist struggles against. The vampire then,
in Butler s work, has evolved beyond its current literary form. Science is as integral as myth in
the text, and Shori, Butler s dark skinned, female, sanguinarian protagonist is not only a
progressive creature of legend but a manufactured being blending the technology of the human
body with that of the Ina. Shori cannot simply be categorized alongside many other vampires
because of this distinction she stands above and beyond, blending race and transcending
concepts of creation and origin in order to forge a new identity for the vampire in literature. She
truly stands as a stepping point toward the elusive cyborg a new biological citizenship being
crafted by her very existence in Butler s universe, and what else is the cyborg but an attempt at
that very determination of self? Before addressing the cyborg, the concept of the other and its
place in Butler s novel must be addressed as the bridge between the two theories. Friedrich
Wilhelm Hegel was one of the first philosophers to define the concept of otherness and the other.

Flight Risk Models
The flight risk model is used to predict a turnover rate and prevent an employee from leaving before
it happens. These models takes to account the employee s age and tenure, marital status, the
criticality of his or her job role, linkages to other flight risk employees, changes in benefit related
issues, and seasonality. (Organizational Behavior, 2013, p. 62) As ATK have used several flight risk
models to stop the most serious form of physical withdrawal, quitting, the one factor that I feel is
most important is being able to prepare for a life situation that can cause a turnover to happen. For
example, boosting the employee s commitment can prevent quitting from happening. This can be
done by creating affective commitment, continuance commitment, normative commitment and
focus of commitment which gives reasons for employees to stay within the company. I feel that the
least important is the workforce metrics because this doesn t really contribute to the employees
within the organizations. As an employee, acknowledgement and rewards are important factors to
keep an employee within the company. Turnover rate can be essentially high if management fails to
recognize this.

23. Analysis Of The Movie Famous
The image I ve chosen is a still from one of Kanye West s recent music videos titled Famous. I
found this video on YouTube a couple months back when it was released in July and found it
quite interesting. The specific still I m using from the video is shown towards the end of the
video when the camera completely zooms out revealing all the sleeping bodies. One of the main
reasons this image captured my attention and caught me off guard was because of the people
featured in the video and the fact that they were all completely naked. Here is a little bit of
background on the song itself. During the 2009 VMAs Taylor Swift won the award for Best
Female Video over Beyonce who was also nominated for the same category. As Taylor was
giving her acceptance speech, Kanye came onto the stage and interrupted her by saying that
Beyonce had one of the best videos of all time. Because of this historical moment (if you will)
Kanye claims that Taylor Swift is only famous because of him. A popular line from the song
Famous is I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex why?/ I made that b**ch famous. Taylor
of course did not like this and even talked about this in her Grammy acceptance speech basically
saying that she worked hard to get to where she is. Since then there s been drama between Taylor
and The Wests (Kim and Kanye). So when I saw Taylor in Kanye s video I was very shocked
because I knew she wasn t okay with the song so she definitely wouldn t participate in such a

Written by Justice Holmes, the infamous Buck v Bell opinion, gives a summary and an analysis
of how the court reached the decision to uphold Virginia s sterilization statute. The case involved
Carrie Buck, an 18 year old women in a Virginia institution for feeble minded individuals, she was
to be sterilized after being found to be feeble minded. In addition to the summary of the case,
Holmes raises his concerns with having more feeble minded individuals and criminals parading the
streets which justifies coerced sterilization.
Justice Holmes opinion creates a picture of negative eugenics which makes this case a pinnacle in
coerced sterilization discourse. Written in 1927, this opinion is the only primary source on this list,
with the exception of the opinion by Justice Douglas concerning Skinner v Oklahoma. It is also
important to note that this opinion is the only source advocating for coerced sterilization.

Since curling was invented in the late medieval times, there is no specific inventor. The first
written evidence appeared in Latin, by John McQuhin when he recorded a challenge about
throwing stones across the ice between John Sclater, a monk at Paisley Abbey, Renfrewshire, and
Gavin Hamilton, a representative in February of 1541. The report indicated that Sclater threw a

Each player delivers two stones, in consecutive order at each end, while alternating with an
opponent. Teams declare its delivery rotation, and the skip and vice skip positions, prior to the
start of a game and maintain that rotation and those positions throughout the game. If a player is
missing at the start of a game, the team may either start the game with three players or use a
qualified alternate. A team may not play with fewer than three players. In competitions where
alternates are allowed, only one alternate can be registered and used in that competition. Each
team has a total of eight stones and play up to eight ends, when you get into the higher
tournaments you play ten ends. Ends are completed when all eight rocks from each team have
been played. If the teams are tied at the end of the game, they keep playing to however many
ends it takes to break the tie. Delivering is where the skip determines how much power they
need, how much to rotate the stone, and the direction to throw. This process requires the skip to
slide the stone down the sheet. Before the delivery, the surface of the stone and the path across
must be wiped clean. Any dirt can slow and alter the shot. The thrower shoots the rock from the
hack. The thrower s shoes that don t have a slider on it is placed in the hack. For example, if you
re a right hand curler your right foot is placed against the left side of the hack. When in the hack
the thrower lines the body up with their shoulders square to the skip s broom at the other end of
the sheet. Places the stone in front of the hack, and rises slowly pulling the stone back towards
the hack. Then push off the hack into a lunge position, moving the slider foot in front and the
other shoe behind. To help balance you have the rock in your good hand and, the free hand you

29. Eating Animals By Eric Schlosser Essay
Today, the food industry has not just altered the American diet, but it has also had a negative effect
within the labor sector as well as the animals meant for consumption and the lack of government
oversight. Eric Schlosser in Fast Food Nation, and Jonathan Foer in Eating Animals, illustrate the
mistreatment of labor workers as well as the animal abuse that goes unseen within the food
industry. Foer gives such examples of employees who work in slaughterhouses giving accounts of
what goes on in the kill floors, and stories of employees who have witnessed thousands and
thousands of cows going through the slaughter process alive (231). Eating meatdoes not have to be
so inhumane for example, Foer quotes Frank Reese, who does not permit inhumane practices on his
ranch that are cruel, and Reese believes that there are other ways of having a sustainable humane
animal agricultureinstead of the methods of the large corporate meat industry (238). Namit Arora
in the article On Eating Animals , as well as Michael Pollan in his book The Omnivore s
Dilemma, address some of the issues that animals face once they hit the kill floor. The food
industry has transformed not only what people eat, but how the government has neglected the
issues of the wellbeing of labor workers and the animals that are processed for consumption.

The relationship between mindfulness, benevolence and life satisfaction among undergraduate
psychology students.
Abstract
The current study aimed to investigate the affect that both mindfulness and benevolence has on life
satisfaction among undergraduate psychology students. Mindfulness and benevolence are both
positive aspects, so as expected past research has found a positive relationship between these traits
and life satisfaction. Consistent findings of the relationship between benevolence and life
satisfaction were found, especially when relationships are involved (Ryff and Keyes 1995). The
results were analysed using a Pearson s correlation followed by a regression (.112), this shown a
very weak correlation between benevolence and life satisfaction, however no correlation between
mindfulness and life satisfaction (.264) which is an unexpected result due to results from past
research.
Introduction
Life satisfaction can be defined as an individual s judgement of wellbeing and quality of life based
on their own chosen principles, considering past and future (Diener 1999). Seligman stated that

31. Essay on The Founders and Religious Freedom
James Madison and Thomas Jefferson are two of the seven key founding fathers of the United
States. The motive of the founders of the U.S. was to establish religious freedom in the colonies;
therefore, religion was of importance to them. When the policy of the separation of church and state
was enacted by the founding fathers through the Constitution, it meant that under a secular
government, religious freedom would always be protected. Issues such as the freedom to practice
one s religion arose in the earlier colonies and the separation of church and states prevents these
issues from occurring again. The separation of church and stateprotects the rights of all and ensures

Not only did James Madison have views on the importance of religion but he was an adamant
believer of the separation of church and state. Madison stated that breaking the ties between church
and state would cause a growth in religious interest. He wrote about this in 1819 stating that the
number, the industry, and the morality of the priesthood and the devotion of the people have been
manifestly increased by the total separation of the church from the state. Thomas Jefferson shared
this belief with Madison in his wall of separation between religion and government which is a
fortification of liberty. He strongly supported the freedom of religion in America through the
separation of church and state. The phrase wall of separation between the church and the state was
originally coined by Thomas Jefferson in a letter to the Danbury Baptists in 1802. The purpose of
the letter was to ease fears of the wall that the Danbury, Connecticut Baptists had. Jefferson said in
his letter that the wall had been built to protect them. This was used to keep the state out of the
church s business. During pre Revolutionary America there were efforts made to attain not only
political liberty but also religious freedom. The booming dissenting churches in Virginia had
presented several pleas against religious discrimination to the Virginia House of Burgesses in the
1750s and 1706s. Some of Virginia s statesmen and politicians included James Madison and Thomas

The Internet has transformed the ways of communicating and learning ways of the prior years.
Electronic mail, also known as ?email,? has existed ever since the Internet was invented, to send
messages from one computer to another. One remarkable invention was the Project Gutenberg of
1971 which is about placing books and documents in a public domain that can be accessed

In school, the basic things haven?t changed a lot but due to advanced technology, there have been
many additional resources a student can use. Today, most of the students rely more on the Internet
than on books. However, books are more reliable than the other information found on the Internet.
With just one snap, the Internet gives students variety of information to be analyzed and to have a
better understanding of a certain topic. The way of learning today became more challenging and
appropriate for more advanced minds of the young generations. The Internet has contributed to the
growth of today?s society because it allows students to have new learning resources that are more
interesting and give students the opportunity to gain from others? knowledge and experiences.
Through its development, the Internet provides different benefits that will help the students and
children with their academic standings if it is used correctly at home and in school. According to
the U.S Department of Education, statistics shows that ninety three percent of the schools in the
United States have access to the Internet but the ratio of the students to computers was 5.3 to 1.

The media, interest groups, and political standard is a fascinating marriage in our mechanically

communications is characterized as a method for correspondence that achieves a huge volume of

For example, Combretum, Terminalia, and Pterocarpus. Giraffes also have an extremely sticky,
prehensile, long tongue, which allows them to feed on hard to reach leaves. Thickened saliva
on the tongue and lips help protect them from thorns. The skull of a giraffe is attached to the
neck; this allows them to extend their head to a completely vertical angle, also increasing its
reach. In the rainy season they will tend to eat the leaves that come and go throughout the year.
During the dry season giraffes will mainly eat evergreen species. If they need to, giraffes are
able to go a few days without water. Instead of drinking water they stay hydrated by the moisture
from leaves. On an average day a giraffe will consume any where from 75 to 165 pounds of food.

The direct sales are a product of direct contact with medium sized companies or units of larger
companies while the indirect sales are from relationships with channel partners across many

Most time, acceptance would be made in clear and loud matters, such as saying Yes, I accept.
But silence would constitute acceptance of an offer where the common law and statutory law
allows. Supreme Court of Nebraska has confirmed in Joseph Heiting and Sons v. Jacks Bean Co
that acceptance may be established by silence or inaction of an offeree and acceptance occurs
when the buyer/offeree does any act inconsistent with the seller/offeror s ownership... Neb.
U.C.C. section 2 606(1)(c). In Joseph Heiting and Sons v. Jacks Bean Co, 463 N.W.2d 817, 236
Neb. 765 (Neb.,1990), Heiting (Plaintiff) offered to sell its beans at the posted price on September
30, 1987, but was never informed of acceptance or rejection of the offer. Heiting and Jacks... Show

The Second Restatement of Contracts is very clear about the situations where acceptance is
made by silence or exercise of dominion. Section 69 of the Second Restatement of Contracts
provides, (1) Where an offeree fails to reply to an offer, his silence and inaction operate as an
acceptance in the following cases only: (a) Where an offeree takes the benefit of offered services
with reasonable opportunity to reject them and reason to know that they were offered with the
expectation of compensation. (b) Where because of previous dealings or otherwise, it is reasonable
that the offeree should notify the offeror if he does not intend to accept. (2) An offeree who does
any act inconsistent with the offeror s ownership of offered property is bound in accordance with
the offered terms unless they are manifestly unreasonable... Restatement (Second) of Contracts,
В§69. The core of the restatement is about the meeting of the mind and reasonableness, i.e. the
implied consent or agreement by both parties. To sum up, this article clearly allows acceptance by
silent action in the contracts of selling

42. Rhetorical Analysis Of President Obama s Farewell Address
In President Obama s Farewell Address, Obama actively tries to persuade his audience to step up
and make a change; He wants more people to step out of their comfort zone and make something
happen. He persuades his audience by using interesting word choice, connecting with them, and
talking about the future of American democracy. In the beginning of his address, he says, you can
tell I m a lame duck ... By beginning with a lighthearted joke, he puts himself in an amiable light
and makes the audiencemore comfortable with him and more inclined to listen to what he has to
say. He then connects with the audience by saying, Whether we ve seen eye to eye or rarely
agreed at all, my conversations with you, the American people in living rooms and schools; at
farms and in factory floors... Obama says this to show that he took his time to go to those places
to talk to people, which lets the audience knows that he cares and is willing to go out of his way
to sit on factory floors to listen to what people have to say. By starting off his address this way,
he lets the audience know how much he cares, which, in turn, makes the audience care about
what he is about to tell them. Obama soon introduces his claim by saying, This is where I
learned that change only happens when ordinary people get involved, get engaged, and come
together to demand it. Here, he is claiming that it is ordinary people people like the audience
who are the ones who are to bring about change. To get the audience more involved, he chooses
to use words such as: we, our, and you. He uses these words to addresses each and every person
in the audience personally and by doing this, he makes them agree with him because they feel
that they are being spoken to directly. In one paragraph of his speech, he says, But that s what
we did. That s what you did. You were the change. You answered people s hopes, and because of
you, by almost every measure, America is a better, stronger place than it was when we started.
Here, he repeats the word you to emphasize the fact that he is addressing each person directly and
that they are the ones who make changes, that they are the ones who make America a better place.
Obama s choice of words is seen not

43. Rapunzel Negative Socialization
Rapunzel Shows Negative Socialization
Fairy tales have been around for centuries introducing creativity to the minds of both its young and
old viewers. Young children view fairy tales for fun when really they can teach some youth how to
deal with emotional and physiological problems that they can relate to. Life lessons are often
displayed to its viewers, just not noticed. Positive and negative socialization are both shown in fairy
tales, sometimes one more than the other. Rapunzel shows negative socialization to young
viewers because she is surrounded by revenge, a controlling lifestyle, and isolation (Cresswell,
31). Revenge can, in fact, be an action that causes conflicts between people, resulting in
misfortune. For Rapunzel s biological parents, it was absolutely devastating to them that they
had to give up their only child that they waited for what seemed like forever. They did this to
avoid a harsh punishment from the evil witch. If it weren t for Rapunzel s greedy Mother
wanting rampion that she was craving, and her attempting to be sneaky Father stealing from the
witch, Rapunzel could ve still been with them (31). As soon as Rapunzel was born, her parents
handed her off to the witch, Mother Gothel. Mother Gothel gave Rapunzel her name because it
is another name used for rampion. Mother Gothel locked Rapunzel up in a tower when she came
to the age of twelve (31). The tower was far from the village, to where no contact would or could
be made with the biological parents of Rapunzel or anyone else. Her biological parents have
probably never had much more regret than losing their only daughter because they were trying to
steal from Rapunzel s new mother. In this part of the fairy tale, it can show children that you can
make someone s life miserable by just trying to get them back for something that they did that
was wrong in the first place. Revenge can truly ruin one s life, whether it is temporary or
permanent. In addition to revenge, the only way to keep Rapunzel low profiled was to follow
strict demands from her evil mother . Not only was Rapunzel taken from her biological parents,
but she was forced to live deep and far into the mass amount of wooded area. Rapunzel called a tall

44. Schools Need To Be Responsible For The Protection Of...
Schools need to be responsible for the protection of kids while in school. In the court case,
Morrow versus Balaski (Daniell 133)the US court of appeals for the third circuit explained that
school children are never in full custody of the school because they remain primarily dependent on
their parents... but others argue that the relationship between schools and children is special (since
children are required to attend school) (Daniell 134). Although courts have not extended the special
relationship exception to the no Duty rule in school settings there is the second exception of that
would impose a duty and on school districts to protect students from violence. (Daniell 134).
School districts should be required to protect students from Intruders. They should also be better
equipped to help students in a trauma scenario. Teachers should be required to be educated on how
to help students in an emergency. Not every kid has a safe environment at home, if they can t be
safe at school either, then where can they?
Teachers need to be trained how to handle various types of emergencies such as health and
attacker incidents. Teachers should be CPR certified along with trauma and other emergencies.
Teachers are required to review basic first aid and CPR, Suicide Prevention, and emergency
procedures, but this is not enough. Teachers need to be able to deal with the problem till
emergency personnel arrives. The article, (FBI s View to Improve Survival in Active Shooter
Events),

45. Reoccurring Themes In Walt Whitman s Song Of Myself
Stemming from the core themes in Walt Whitman s poem Song of Myself, there is a reoccurring
emphasis on the use of dilation. The idea of self, the self s identification with others, and the poet
s relationship with elements of the universe and nature are considered the three key components
of the poem. Whitman utilizes dilation in all of these themes to convey his central message in
the process of expansion in each area. The idea of the self is perceived as a spiritual object, which
remains relatively permanent throughout the poem. The concept of the self is the most significant
of Whitman s work by utilizing the dilation of the mind s artwork I am the poet of the Body and I

Whitman analyses that every person as a brother or sister. And that all the men ever born are
also my brothers, and the women my sisters and lovers (line 94.) Whitman is stating that when
love is applied to every being, it essentially keeps the world steady. And that a kealson of the
creation is love (line 95.) From the power of love that is revealed from human beings, it shows
that the world cannot be condensed. The dilation process of the world keeps expanding and
moving further for the better of all. No one has the righteous power to stop the change of the
world. Whitman has unlimited amount of trust in other people And gave him a room that enter
d from my own, and gave him some coarse clean clothes (line 196.) He feels that every person
plays a vital role in the society. Everyone is a part of the same fabric of society. Each person may
have different career choices, but they still fit the mold for a functioning society. Whitman gives
voice to people who are not usually heard in the working class society My voice goes after what
my eyes cannot reach (line 564.) The innermost identity is connected to all aspects of the world.
The self is considered both individual and universal. Man has an individual self; however, the world
can be seen as cosmos from the author s evaluation Walt Whitman, a kosmos, of Manhattan the son
(line 496.) This can be deemed as a universal and cosmic impact. The poet wishes to maintain the
identity of the self, but yet he still contemplates the desire to merge it as one. The heart of the
poem is dedicated to explore universal mysteries. The dilation in the enlargement of the universal
world is seen from a different angle. This perspective can be viewed as the world s better part of

46. Review Of Making And Keeping Peace
Review: Making and Keeping Peace
Suzanne Werner and Amy Yuen
Introduction
The article written by Werner and Yuen examines the durability of peace after interstate conflicts.
Criticizing the reliance of the past literature only on the strength of peace agreements, they suggest
two other key variables affecting peace durability: whether the ceasefire followed a consistent
pattern of battle outcomes; and whether the war was interrupted by third party pressure, resulting in
a ceasefire. The primary assumption behind both variables is that if the agreement reflects the
belligerents convergent expectations about the military consequences of continuing the war, it will
be less likely to fail. Wars interrupted by third party intervention or ended without a clear winner do
not reveal enough information about the prospects of continuing fighting and therefore, are more
likely to resume.
In this paper, the author critically analyzes this article from various perspectives. Although the
article is an important contribution to the IR literature on peace, some points in the article require
further clarification and research. First, some issues with the two new variables and the way they
are coded are discussed. Then, some general points about the conclusions they draw from the data
are presented.
Variables
In my opinion, some aspects of the definition of the variables they introduce are problematic or at
least unclear. The battle consistency variable can take a value between 1 and 0.

48. The Cheyenne Tribes Of The Native American Indians
The Cheyenne was one of the most famous tribes of the Native American Indians. They lived on the
Great Plains in what is now South Dakota, Wyoming, Nebraska, Colorado, and Kansas. During the
1800 s, the U.S. government forced the Cheyennes to move to Oklahoma. Today, there are two
Cheyenne tribes. The Southern Cheyennelive in Oklahoma while the Northern Cheyenne settle in
Montana.
The Cheyenne had an interesting culture and way of life. Boys were taught how to hunt, fish,
and fight from their fathers. Girls learned how to cook, clean, and do chores around the house.
Also, the children went to school and played with dolls, toys, and games. For example, the
Cheyenne kids enjoyed playing the hoop game and lacrosse. A Cheyenne woman was
responsible for building her family s house. She dragged heavy posts with her whenever the
tribe moved. Later on, the Cheyenne Indians killed buffalo so they could use buffalo hide to
make teepees. They lived in teepees because it was easy to set up and take down. As a result of
moving frequently, a teepee allowed the Cheyenne tribe to move within an hour. The Cheyenne
women harvested corn, squash, and beans while the men hunted deer and buffalo. Also, they ate
fish, fruit, and berries. For clothing, the Cheyenne women wore long deerskin dresses that were
decorated with porcupine quills, shells, and elk teeth. Cheyenne men wore breechcloths with
leather leggings in colder climates. Men wore moccasins while the women wore high fringed
boots. Chief leaders had tall feather headdresses and long warbonnets. The hair style for men was
long braids with a topknot and women wore their hair loose or braided. The Cheyennes painted
their faces for war, religious ceremonies, and feasts. Lastly, the Cheyenne people were very
religious. They performed an elaborate Sun Dance, smoked peace pipes, built ceremonial houses,
and four arrows represented their sacred object.
The tribal government of the Cheyenne Indians was called the Council of Forty Four. It was
formed by ten bands of the tribe. The council was made up of four chiefs from each band as well as
four Old Man chiefs. Each chief served a ten year term. Every summer, the Council of Forty Four
made decisions

However, a few contradictions abound: as this article shows, rights discourse has been used to
attempt to advance arguments that will actually allow access to private or semi private health
insurance in ways that may exacerbate disadvantage (Canada and Israel); it is used to expand access
to medications to the middleclass, sometimes (arguably at least) at the expense of the poor
(Brazil);7 and it competes with other rights (especially intellectual property within the trade
regime).8 Also, there have been attempts (even if those ultimately failed) to use rights arguments in

or status and that the prohibition against private health insurance is a rational consequence of
Quebec s commitment to the CHA s goals.39 They argued further that access to private health care
based on wealth rather than need contradicts the CHA s key policy

51. Vladimir Lenin And The Russian Revolution
Vladimir Lenin was the leader of the Russian revolution. Lenin s reason for writing State and
Revolution was to explain his view on Karl Marx s reasoning for a state and views on what the
proletariat, working class, should do during a revolution. The goal of a revolution such as this, a
communist revolution, is to give the power to the working people, which is to say that Lenin,
similar to Castro and Nkrumah, wants to be free from imperialism. Another is to Lenin s view
on revolution is that it can only be achieved through nationality and unity.(Lenin, State and
Revolution, page 22) The overthrow of bourgeois rule can be accomplished only by the
proletariat, as the particular class, which, by the economic conditions of its existence, is being
prepared for this work and is provided both with the opportunity and the power to perform it.
(Lenin 23) He believes that a revolution can only succeed with the use of violence from the
proletariat against the party that is in control.(Lenin, 22 23) The replacement of the bourgeois by
the proletarian state is impossible without a violent revolution. (Lenin, 22) As a leader Lenin is an
advocate of change. He is a communist and believes in giving power to the people, mainly the
proletariat.(Lenin 20) Kwame Nkrumah, was the leader of Ghana first as Prime Minister then as
President once they gained independence from Great Britain. Nkrumah wrote I speak of freedom:

Nietzsche said Whoever fights monsters should see to it that in the process he does not become
a monster. And when you look long into an abyss, the abyss also looks into you (Beyond Good

motives are impure, selfish, or short sighted; they may very well turn out to be the villain. In the
classic gothic novel, The Monkby Matthew Lewis in which several characters motives, lives, and

The pious and godly man that was Ambrosio tries to make excuses for his behavior and pawns

magic to sneak around to defile Antonia secretly and Dr. Jekyll uses science to create an alternate
