Well, I can’t say that this is my favourite film. It would be just the wrong word. This is the film, that impressed me. This is the film, that shocked me. This is the film, that covers my body with goosebumps every time when I hear about it. This is the only film that really scares me…
It is about consequences after a Nuclear Attack or, honesty speaking, after a play between two persons in which everyone is a looser. Especially simple people, who suffers mostly.
Critics tended to claim the film was too tame, but still, being directed by Nicholas Meyer, it received twelve Emmy nominations and won two Emmy awards for an Outstanding Film Sound Editing and for an Outstanding Achievement In Special Visual Effects.
But my task was not to write about the whole film ( what I wish I could), but to write about my favourite scene in it ( and again, I would like to replace the word favourite to the most impressive one). Why does my “favourite” scene end on 3.27? Because everything what is happening after is too cruel even for non-sensitive people like me.
First of all, I must point out again that I don’t like it. I am impressed by it. Why? It shows us peoples reaction to a disaster! It shows us the end of their world and how they are trying to survive. But do they have a chance? Most of them definitely not! And the audience see it and wholly understands… how terrifying is that? So, this piece shows the naturalness of emotions.
My second reason is cleanliness of the shots. They are very straight and senseful. The picture explains what it has to, but avoids too much drama. Yes, it is very dramatic scene, but everywhere have to be a measure. People are still hoping and I see it, I understand it, I believe it and I am worry about it.
My third point is talking about a film structure, which includes several things like: great use of the sound, camera, different angles, colours and how genius everything is put together! Each movement, gesture, posture, appearances, spatial behaviour… everything what is happening on the screen puts and keeps you under a pressure.
But I should tell more about my last point, because, obviously, there is what to pay attention for. Firstly, the great sound work that really adds even more tension to this scene.
So what can I say about camera work in this scene? It’s spectacular! I identified a lot of different methods of what I had learned and I want to tell about several of them.

We were able to add additional sequences earlier than planned and edited shots together using techniques like keyframes and speed adjustments to make the dance sequences look impactful.
Use of real media conventions
My media product uses, challenges, and develops conventions of real dubstep music videos. It uses typical conventions like urban locations and quick edits timed to the music. However, it challenges conventions by having an unconventional narrative and limiting strobe lighting to only 3 seconds rather than throughout the video. The product develops conventions by manipulating the pace of editing and shot duration to match the increasing and decreasing tempo of the music.
Pre production portfolio

Abstract Recently there is an increased interest in using the visual features for improved speech processing. Lip reading plays a vital role in visual speech processing. In this paper, a new approach for lip reading is presented. Visual speech recognition is applied in mobile phone applications, human-computer interaction and also to recognize the spoken words of hearing impaired persons. The visual speech video is taken as input for face detection module which is used to detect the face region. The mouth region is identified based on the face region of interest (ROI). The mouth images are applied for feature extraction process. The features are extracted using every 10th coordinate, every 16th coordinate, 16 point + Discrete Cosine Transform (DCT) method and Lip DCT method. Then, these features are applied as inputs for recognizing the visual speech using Hidden Markov Model. Out of the different feature extraction methods, the DCT method gives the experimental results of better performance accuracy. 10 participants were uttered 35 different isolated words. However, it challenges conventions by having an unconventional narrative and limiting strobe lighting to only 3 seconds rather than throughout the video. The product develops conventions by manipulating the pace of editing and shot duration to match the increasing and decreasing tempo of the music.
Pre production portfolio

Abstract Recently there is an increased interest in using the visual features for improved speech processing. Lip reading plays a vital role in visual speech processing. In this paper, a new approach for lip reading is presented. Visual speech recognition is applied in mobile phone applications, human-computer interaction and also to recognize the spoken words of hearing impaired persons. The visual speech video is taken as input for face detection module which is used to detect the face region. The mouth region is identified based on the face region of interest (ROI). The mouth images are applied for feature extraction process. The features are extracted using every 10th coordinate, every 16th coordinate, 16 point + Discrete Cosine Transform (DCT) method and Lip DCT method. Then, these features are applied as inputs for recognizing the visual speech using Hidden Markov Model. Out of the different feature extraction methods, the DCT method gives the experimental results of better performance accuracy. 10 participants were uttered 35 different isolated words. For each word, 20 samples are collected for training and testing the process. Index Terms: Feature Extraction, HMM, Mouth ROI, DWT, Visual Speech Recognition

This Dissertation explores the particular circumstances of Mirzapur, a region located in the
core of India. Mirzapur, with its varied terrains and abundant biodiversity, offers an optimal
environment for investigating the changes in vegetation cover dynamics. Our study utilizes
advanced technologies such as GIS (Geographic Information Systems) and Remote sensing to
analyze the transformations that have taken place over the course of a decade.
The complex relationship between human activities and the environment has been the focus
of extensive research and worry. As the global community grapples with swift urbanization,
population expansion, and economic progress, the effects on natural ecosystems are becoming
more evident. A crucial element of this impact is the alteration of vegetation cover, which plays a
significant role in maintaining the ecological equilibrium of our planet.Land serves as the foundation for all human activities and provides the necessary materials for
these activities. As the most crucial natural resource, its utilization by humans results in different
'Land uses,' which are determined by both human activities and the physical characteristics of the
land.
The utilization of land is impacted by human needs and environmental factors. In countries
like India, rapid population growth and the emphasis on extensive resource exploitation can lead
to significant land degradation, adversely affecting the region's land cover.
Therefore, human intervention has significantly influenced land use patterns over many
centuries, evolving its structure over time and space. In the present era, these changes have
accelerated due to factors such as agriculture and urbanization. Information regarding land use and
cover is essential for various planning and management tasks related to the Earth's surface,
providing crucial environmental data for scientific, resource management, policy purposes, and
diverse human activities.
Accurate understanding of land use and cover is imperative for the development planning
of any area. Consequently, a wide range of professionals, including earth system scientists, land
and water managers, and urban planners, are interested in obtaining data on land use and cover
changes, conversion trends, and other related patterns. The spatial dimensions of land use and

The group used a variety of shot types in their music video including long shots and close ups, they also attempted to use tracking shots which, given the equipment available, they did quite effectively. They also tried to use a focus pull from the sky on to the face which they did achieve quite effectively however it wasn’t entirely necessary as focus pulls are usually used to reveal something in the background of a shot and the sky doesn't really do that. However it does make the video look more authentic
- 3. In this shot they used leading lines to draw the viewers eyes to the bottom of the steps which is where the performer is. They also had a nice variety of locations to keep the video interesting and authentic.
- 4. In both of these shots they conformed more to the rule of thirds which made the shot look professional and drew the audiences attention to the performer by creating negative/empty space.

- 6. In this shot, like the other group we looked at, we used the rule of thirds to create this idea of negative space which would draw the viewers attention to the space that was being filled. I think to make this more affective and visually interesting we could have tried to utilise the depth of field and aperture settings on the camera more so that the background was more out of focus which would in turn draw more attention to the performer as they would be the only thing in focus.In this shot we attempted to use the technique of symmetry for the same reason that it would be more visually interesting for the viewer. We probably could have exaggerated this if we had used a different location with steps that had either no bars or bars on both sides so that it would be more symmetrical.

Looking back at the two shots we used I think it would have been nice is we had shot them at different angles as almost all of them are long shots and so the video flows less and is not as aesthetically pleasing for the viewer. We did however use the rule of thirds and utilise this idea of negative space again. This time the background was more uniform the whole was across whereas the trees one from before was a bit distracting as all of the parts of the background were different to each other, this meant that the background in this one was less distracting and so the viewers attention was on the performer.
