Fetus Lead Contamination
My company has consistently tried to reduce lead exposure to its employee s. In fact, they are the ones
that initiated programs to decrease the lead exposure to its workers. Whenever employees receive a
doctor s report stating that his or her lead blood levels are high, they would be transferred out with
benefits. It s been proven that lead is toxic and can have ill effects on an unborn child, and these
effects may not manifest themselves immediately at birth. In addition to that, lead levels that may be
safe for a fully grown adult are still toxic to a developing infant fetus. The policy established in 1977
did not result in protecting women and their children from excess lead levels. During the beginning
stages of conception, the ill effects ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In any realm of the world, it is always better to be safe than sorry. The decision made should be that
the company change it policy and implement the one that requires complete exclusions of women with
childbearing capacity from high lead exposure positions. According to the law book,
Consequentialism deals with the ethics and morality of the consequence of actions instead of the
actual actions themselves, so in other words, lying itself is not unethical, but the results of lying may
indeed be unethical. While it may not be fair or necessarily ethical to exclude women from those toxic
environments, the end result of the policy change would be ethical because it would prevent the lead
from ever having the chance of affecting the potential unplanned child. The potential unborn child is
the most affected from the policy change and stands to gain the most out of it; by implementing the
policy, it would give the children of any unplanned pregnancies the opportunity to live a normal life
without any defects due to the absence of toxic lead levels. The end result of a healthy baby justifies
the means of potential unethical exclusion of women from a toxic even if they want to environment. In
order to enforce and monitor the policy, any potential eligible women who wish to work in the toxic
lead environment would be subject to a medical examination in order to confirm that the woman is

Egyptian Tales Galore Essay
When Cleopatra came out in 1963, it was running on the budget of $44 million ($297 in 2007 dollars).
The movie follows Cleopatra VII, last queen and monarch of Ancient Egypt from 48 BCE (allying
with Caesar) to her suicide in 31 BCE. Cleopatra was born in 69 BCE to Ptolemy XII and an unknown
mother and she would later inherit the throne along with her brother Ptolemy XIII when her father
died in 51 BCE. Her brother had gotten Cleopatra to leave Egypt the same Caesar came chasing his
rival Pompey into Egypt. They crossed paths and became allies against Ptolemy XIII, getting
Cleopatra s power as the sole queen back along with a son, Caesarion. After Caesar s assassination in
44 BCE, Cleopatra was brought back to Rome 3 years later and had an ... Show more content on

Research Paper On Professional Nursing
Professional Nursing: Emerging and Growing Through Research
Nursing as a profession involves multidisciplinary and holistic approaches to integrate the essence of
scientific practices into compassionate and humanistic approaches in rendering care to patients. It is an
art that reflects an expression of science, emotions, power and creativity to deliver the so called
tailored delivery of patient care. From the time of Florence Nightingale up to the present, countless
developments and improvements in the field of nursing evolved. This is the outcome of thorough
research activities that influenced the modernization of this noble profession. Nursing research is
critical to the practice of professional nursing, it is a continuous process that entails identification ...

The information is disseminated to nurses to be applied and incorporated into practice to be a better
advocate for patients and to provide optimal nursing care (Tingen, Burnett, Murchison, Zhu, 2013).
Defining Fundamental Pattern of Nursing Knowledge
As a nursing professional, several aspects of knowledge are involved in the application of care. The
fundamental pattern of nursing knowledge starts with science or empirical evidences governed by
factual and explicit information and acceptable knowledge, such as the procedures and guidelines of
nursing practice. It is derived from scientific methodology that supports the intellectual explanation of
health and illness phenomena and the processes involve in the cycle of human life. (Carper, 1978).
The second pattern represents the esthetic part of nursing knowledge which is also known as the art of
nursing. The concept that is represented in this pattern is the expressive nature of delivery of care
rather than descriptive and objective in nature.

Putting a Stop to Smoking
It is shocking to know that there are about ten people who die from smoking every single minute, and
nobody seems to have any idea about it. Indeed, there is a growing gap between the real world and the
academy since people are more intellectual about things that are irrelevant to the real life and are
ignorant of things that are imperative to live in the real world (Orr 310). Did you know that there are
over four hundred thousand deaths caused by cigarettes and tobacco each year in the U.S. alone? That
makes it about five million deaths worldwide each year, according to Statistics about Smoking.
Smoking is notorious for causing avoidable diseases and deaths, and yet not many institutions have

They should be able to help teens learn the ugly truth about tobacco, know what goes in a cigarette,
and also say No! to smoking. While peer pressure is accountable for provoking teenagers to smoke
just for the sake of it, advertisement is more responsible for initiating young adults to just puff their
lives away for acceptance. According to Martin, about eighty percent of American advertising
executives believe that advertising is very effective because it makes smoking more appealing and
socially acceptable to children. The tobacco industry is making billions and billions while hundreds of
thousand are getting hooked on tobacco through the use of advertisements and media ploys.
Advertising is by far the most effective and prominent way tobacco companies use to induce young
adults. To successfully combat smoking or to eliminate tobacco companies altogether, hopefully
sometime soon in the future, an ideal student must learn to recognize and to resist the many elements
tobacco companies use in advertisement to hook young adults. One of the elements that often appears
in the media is the association of young, attractive individuals with cigarettes to convey to the youth
that smoking is appealing. This method works very well because many think that smoking enhances
their self image and attracts other. The ideal student should be able to recognize that ads are deceiving

Biblical And Gilgamesh Flood Comparison
Flood Gates
There are many different reasons things occur. Comparing the Biblical flood to the Ancient
Mesopotamian flood is one of those strange things that occurred. The Biblical flood was to destroy
humankind because of their sinful ways. Mesopotamian flood was used to punish mankind for their
actions. The two floods came from two different historic timing. The two floods have several
similarities and differences.
The Biblical and Gilgamesh flood have several things they have in common. The hero s characters in
each story were righteous men. Noah represents a church. Noah and his family had spiritual beliefs
and practices. Noah and his family listen to God. In both floods, God is punishing rebellious mankind.
In the book of Genesis, God flood the earth because of humankind sinful ways. God instructed Noah,
12 God saw how corrupt the earth had become, for all the people on earth had corrupted their ways. 13
So God said to Noah, I am going to put an end to all people, for the earth is filled with violence
because of them. I am surely going to destroy both them and the earth. 14 So make yourself an ark of
cypress wood; make rooms in it and coat it with pitch inside and out. (Genesis 6:9 12 14) Noah built
an ark for him and his family would be saved from the flood. Utnapishtim name meant finder of life.
With the Gilgamesh flood, god Enlil told Utnapishtim in a dream to build a big boat. Him and his
family would be saved from the flood also. Enlil was going to punish

Communicate God s Truth In Matthew Henry Daniel
Daniel successfully engages Babylonian culture by participating academically without compromise
and uses his discipline to communicate God s truth; Daniel teaches Christians how to live in the world
without becoming like the world (Dan.1; 1 Pet.1;15 16, AMP). As noted in Matthew Henry s
Commentary, Daniel stands firm in his faith, ...took pains to make himself master of the learning and
tongue of the Chaldeans... but...he was resolved that he would not defile himself... (par.7). Also,
Daniel engages culture intellectually to demonstrate godly wisdom and communicate God s truth, In

Trash And Millions Themes
The first theme that will be compared between Trash and Millions is the theme of friendship. In the
text Trash Gardo and Raphael have a very strong friendship, so strong in fact that Raphael sees Gardo
as a brother but in fact both of the boys are just best friends. Near the end of the text of Trash, Rat
convinces the boys to throw the money over Bahala for the poor people who live there just like
Millions at the end of the movie, it shows poor people in Africa having clean water coming from the

Kidney Thieves Anthropology
Since 1991 one of many chilling tales, that has been told by various people in different areas of the
world which is Beware of the kidney thieves . According to this urban legend, victims awake in
immense pain in their lower back in a bathtub full of ice to discover that their kidneys have been
removed. This urban legend warns travelers, such as business men or women, that medically trained
criminals are stealing kidneys . They drug their victim at a bar or any sort of social gathering, remove
their kidneys, leave them in an unfamiliar hotel in a bathtub full of ice and sell their kidney on the
black market. Besides entertainment, this urban legend preys on our cultures tendency to blow things

It originally started in Europe and quickly traveled all around the world. In 1997 New Orleans had an
outbreak, and it was believed that this urban legend was to be a real story. It is unknow why this urban
legend started. In the article The Kidney Thieves an Urban Legend by David Emery states, As the city
geared up for its annual Mardi Gras festivities in January, a rumor began spreading via word or mouth,
fax, and forward email to effect that a highly organized crime ring in New Orleans was carrying out
plans to drug visiting tourists, surgically remove healthy kidneys from their bodies, and sell the organs
on the black market. As a result of this urban legend arising immensely, the local police department
were receiving calls from many people claiming their kidneys were stolen. Authorities organized an
investigation regarding these insane story, only to find no true evidence of this occurring. Even the
National Kidney Foundation had repeatedly asked for alleged victims of this crime to validate their
stories and come forward, but to this day no person has. This goes to show that there is no actual
victim of this case. If there has it turns out to be a false story just to add onto the urban

The Drug Approval Of The Disease Essay
There are over 7,000 rare diseases affecting between 25 and 30 million Americans (Global Genes
2016). A disease or disorder is defined as rare in the U.S when it affects fewer than 200,000
Americans at any given time (Eurordis 2016). Some of these rare diseases come with even more rare
and controversial decisions. The FDA just made its most controversial drug approval of the year
(Fortune 2016). This injectable drug is called eteplirsen by Sarepta Therapeutics and it is an exon
skipping drug targeting a section of genetic code called exon 51 in the dystrophin gene. Exon skipping
is a type of strategy that is being developed for the rare disease DMD (Duchenne Muscular
Dystrophy). The exon skipping process skips sections of genetic codes during protein manufacturing,
allowing cells to create shortened but partially functional dystrophin protein which is the muscle
protein that is missing in DMD. This rare X linked disease was first described in the 1850 s by French
neurologists Guillaume Duchenne but was not known to inhibit the production of protein dystrophin
and result in the loss of motor functions and muscular degeneration until the 1980 s (MDA 2016). 1 in
3600 6000 live male births has resulted in DMD (Bushby 2010). Most patients are diagnosed around 5
years of age when their physical abilities are no longer similar to their peers (Bushby 2010). If left
untreated, signs of deterioration in muscle strength increase, the chance of using a wheelchair before

The Effects Of Stress On Our Mental And Physical Health
As we learned in class, stress is any force that changes the body s natural state, known as homeostasis.
Stress does not always have to be viewed as a bad thing. For example, stress can motivate someone to
study for an exam or plan ahead in his or her agenda to stay organized. Its only when stress manifest
out of control and is not addressed properly that it can have very negative effects on both our mental
and physical health. Reflecting on the document we watched in class, Stress: Portrait of a Killer, I was
surprised to learn more about baboons correlating to human beings stress management and how you
position as individual in the hierarchy of life has in effect on the levels of stress you may endure. In
the documentary I learned a lot about how dominant male baboons has lower stress levels which in
turn, made these baboon relativity healthier compared to their other members of their group. The
baboons who had higher stress levels also has high blood pressure, not as good immune system, and a
poor reproductive system. This just goes to show the position the baboons held in their hierarchy
related to their health and ultimately, their life span. This idea that stress is related to poor health and
life expectancy is not only true for baboons, but for human beings as well. I know from prior
experiences when i get stress I tend to get really sick. When the end of the semester comes around, I
get overwhelmed with papers, last minute assignments, and finals to study. I was

Media Portrayal Of The Media
Media deteriorating life of developing teens
Rapid changes in a young developing body can be crucial, leaving long term health issues that are
difficult to reverse and possibly lead to death. Today s media has an immense influence on how teens
view themselves in regards to what is considered beautiful. Exposure to the media has pressured teens
to feel like they need to change their body image to be model perfect and fit what the media considers
beautiful . Media portrayal of beauty and youth can cause insecure teens to alter their diet and
lifestyles causing serious mental and physical health issues. Often these changes can be drastic
causing the body to freak out and not work the same way it used to. The effects of rapid changes
would be depression, weight gain, weight loss, weak immune systems and collapsing organs.
Many times depression in teens is a result of the constant need of feeling like they have to alter their
weight, curves, fitness, and overall self image. The media tends to portray the skinny girls as popular,
while unpopular girls are shown with a muffin top. A young teen who is not a size two or below will
examine online resources for the diet that will produce the quickest results. These types of quick,
drastic changes can be very unhealthy and cause adverse affects to the body. A tidal wave can portray
the feeling of descending from the progress made. This can cause doubt of ever being a smaller weight

The Hybridization Of Baroque Art
The Baroque period of the 1600 and 1750s began in Europe and defined the art of the time (Stechow
111). Spain s quest for the unity and assimilation to Spanish culture of its subjects in the Americas led
to the systematic suppression and destruction of the indigenous cultures of the regions, such as the
Aztecs and the Incans. Baroque art was only supposed to be another aspect of Spanish culture for the
indigenous population to assimilate to (Gauvin 4, 33 34). However, the Baroque period created an
atmosphere in the Americas that led to a blending of the Spanish and indigenous cultures. The
subsequent art and architecture that was created was a hybrid formed from the cultures coinhabiting
the area. This hybrid form has been characterized as a hidden inscription of difference within the
fictional sameness of official culture, as rebellious graffiti camouflaged in the forest of baroque
symbols (Salgado 317 318). It provided a place for the people of Latin America to subtly celebrate and
preserve their heritage that Spain was threatening. To understand the significance of the cultural
impact that the hybridization of Baroque art had on culture in the Spanish colonies of the New World,
we must first define what hybridization of an art form means. Then we will investigate what
constitutes baroque art and why it was so conducive to being hybridized. To further the understanding
of the hybridization, we will examine the painting Our Lady of Guapulo and the architecture

Intra And Inter Generational Equity
INTRAAND INTER GENERATIONAL EQUITY IN THE ANTHROPOCENE
Introduction
Anthropocene era is minuscule compared to geologic era but has already made huge impact upon
world s ecology and physical resource. Creating and maintaining some mechanism to prevent runaway
consumption and misuse of resource is paramount to ensure justice and equity among population of
present as well as future generation. Without such mechanism, people tends to become self centered
and they act without any regard for others; creating imbalance in resource use and social order within
space time continuum.
Intra generational equity deals with equity and justice issues within present generation, while inter
generational equity is about ensuring equity and justice among generations without any concomitant
presence on Earth.
Intra generational equity
Munasinghe (2007) described intra generational equity perfectly as an interrelating function of
economic and social equity.
Figure: Sustainable Development Triangle (Source: Munasinghe, 2007)
From Economic perspective, although Panzer (1978) introduced Pareto Efficient Egalitarian
Equivalent Allocation (PEEE), which theoretically works quite well with fair and efficient resource
allocation and production economies while having excellent Rawlsian maximin properties as well;
real life scenario is dominated by capitalism. Present economic sustainability concept tries to
maximize income flow while preserving stock of assets or capital as much as possible.

Comparing Emerson And Ralph Waldo Emerson
Ralph Waldo Emerson says There is a time in every man s education when he arrives at the conviction
that envy is ignorance; that imitation is suicide. This quote is immensely true you should always be
true to yourself and you shouldn t envy people you don t really know that much about. You should
stay true to yourself because if you want to imitate someone who are killing yourself figuratively.
How is your inner self alive if you don t display it no one knows who you really are so your soul is
dead to others. They would just see that you are like everyone else or like someone else in particular
and then you will be compared to the other person which isn t what people usually want. If someone
were to compare you to someone and you are just off there in the corner hearing this and they are
saying blah blah he s/she s exactly like so and so and you are just like no I m me , but you have no
proof because what they are saying is true. Your inner self would never be known to people if you like
to hide away and just do what it is popular they we ll see you as just no one special and everyone
wants to have something different about them that s what makes people awesome there is not two of

The Born Free Usa Task Force
Recommendations The members of the Born Free USA Task Force have a common goal to provide a
solution to increase restrictions for exotic pet ownership, which allows for more responsible exotic pet
ownership and the decreased capacity of danger to the public. In addition, it will provide for more
safety precautions and ensure those exotic animals in captivity are provided for every day. The first
step in our process of analyzing the recommendations of exotic pet ownership in Missouri was
researching the current regulations in other states and what was working and not working in those
states. Currently, every state has varying regulations and within those states, many cities and counties
have assorted regulations as well. Based on the success of the drastic changes the state of Ohio has
made in the exotic animal ownership regulations, their platform for change is one to model. Ohio was
once a state with no restrictions on exotic animal ownership prior to the 2011 incidence of Terry
Thompson, who set free his exotic animal farm of fifty plus animals before committing suicide. This
incident pushed the already in question exotic pet ownership regulations into national limelight. Our
task force has researched the current restrictions and the process of implementing them along with the
undesirable potential side effects of these new laws. With this information, we were prepared to
present a solid foundation for the state of Missouri to create a new movement in the exotic pet

The Gap Between Aboriginal And Torres
Theory assessment 1. I plan to close the gap between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders people and
between non Indigenous people by putting in place strategies that advocate cultural inclusivity. The
first strategies I would use would be would be to make people aware. Being aware of the local
aboriginal and Torres Straight Islander communality. Also being aware of their local heritage. When
the centre is aware of the Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islander community and the issues they may
have. The centre can work in partnership with the Aboriginal and Torrs Straight island community to
provide the best care for them. The next strategy I would use would be to provide great
communication skills. This is to provide and understanding of the Aboriginal and Torres Straight
Islander community. The best way to communicate is to be a good listener, and being open when you
communicate. I would also recommend these strategies when communicating with Aboriginal and
Torres Straight Islanders: Treat everyone as an individual Being with a relationship of trust Use of a
mentor Use preferred local name for Indigenous people Acknowledge country Be and active listener
Seek more than one opinion Relationship first Use eye contract in a culturally appropriate way Use
silence positively Men s and women s business Indigenous language Become skilled at difficult
interactions For strategy number three, I would make sure that the centre is accessible and inclusive. I

Essay On Hurricane
Around a month ago, Mother Nature unleashed its potential power towards the south of the United
States. First, hurricane Harvey did a great damage on the Southern part of Texas as a Category 4. A

the Caribbean Islands. The good thing is the U.S government and many cooperation s stepped in to
help its American citizens because it s the duty of the government. Therefore, FEMA (Federal

Since Puerto Rico is in the middle of the Caribbean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean, they should ve
prepared the military ships to leave right after the second hurricane destroyed the rest of Puerto Rico.
Therefore, I would ensure that FEMA responds right away to any part of the United States because all
American Citizens deserve to be treated equality. For example, if the government gave Texans 15
billion dollars, therefore Puerto Rico should get more than that because of the critical condition it is. I
know a lot of Texans were impacted tremendously but they got help from the surrounding states and
faster help because it was in the United States. Overall, I would make a policy that ensure every
citizen gets help as soon as possible. Furthermore, another policy I would make in case of any natural
disaster emergency for any state to get the same distribution, is to classify how much help it needs

The Exorcism Of Dr. Strange
As Hugh Jackman is to Wolverine and Chris Evans is to Captain America, Benedict Cumberbatch is to
Doctor Strange. He is a British actor who ignites this fresh new entry in the Marvel cinematic
universe. Scott Derrickson, director of Sinister, The Exorcism of Emily Rose and Deliver us from
Evil, made something more interesting and different on Doctor Strange by adding plenty of
playfulness and humor to the story. Before watching the movie, I paused before pressing play on my
Netflix account due to the thought that even though it is a Marvel heroic movie it might be a horror
story because of the director s history in directing in horror movies. Once you begin to see the movie,

Carbon Fiber Essay
INTRODUCTION
Background
Aerospace design applications rely heavily on weight reduction, structural integrity and optimize
performance. Engineers and designers have adopted carbon fiber composite due to its high modulus
reinforcement fibers embedded in an epoxy matrix. Also called graphite fiber or carbon graphite,
carbon fiber consists of very thin strands of the element carbon. Each fiber is 5 10 microns in diameter
as shown on Figure 1, one micron (um) is 0.000039 inches. Carbon fiber composite material is a
special candidate for aerospace applications because of its high tensile strength, corrosion and fire
resistant properties, which provides functional integrity by design, results in high strength and light
weight construction that could be formed into practically any shape or form. These fibers are
constructed with multiple laminate which are bonded together with a matrix or resin system. When
combined with resin and wound or molded to form composite materials, a high strength to weight
ratio is achieved.

Carbon Composite Materials Under industrial production now, carbon fibers are classified into PAN
based (polyacrylonitrile based) seen on figure 2, pitch based (coal tar and petroleum products) and
rayon based. The manufacturing of carbon fiber involves a chemical and mechanical process. Mixing
the precursor and co monomer then drawing the fiber out the chemical mixture then mechanically
stretching and coating the fibers. The

Copper Lab Calorimeters
After a further analysis of the results it has been seen that the averages of the results have proven the
hypothesis to be correct. Hence the constructed calorimeter has been more efficient in reducing the
enthalpy number upon burning ethanol compared to the copper calorimeters that have been previously
used. Its has become known that due to more heat being absorbed the enthalpy number has
significantly been improved by almost 10%. In the results, it is stated that the accepted value for the
burning of ethanol is 1300 kJ/mol however; the results show that when using the copper lab
calorimeters only 73.47 kJ/mol of ethanol was burned, on the other hand when the constructed
calorimeter was tested it burned 715 kJ/mol.In order for the enthalpy number to be closer to the
accepted value less energy must be consumed when burning the alcohol however, when using the
copper calorimeters a substantial amount of air is being lost to the surroundings. Shown by ethanol s
chemical formula of C2H6O it forms hydrogen bonds with itself. Hydrogen bonds are stronger than
that of most alkaline bonds therefore requires a large amount of energy to break them apart (Clark,
2003). Meaning that in order for the combustion to take place with less energy more heat needs to be
directed towards the calorimeter. So by implementing a pipe that could target the heat to the lid of the
calorimeter where a steel lid trapped the heat and forced it to disperse throughout the water that
surrounded the thermometer. By creating this chimney affect the ... Show more content on

Benefits And Disadvantages Of Artificial Intelligence
Artificial Intelligence has become ever more popular and gradually integrated into life. From

Aker s Social Learning Theory In Weather Underground
There are various different theories that have been applied to what has caused crime, including:
biological, psychological, control and plenty of more. However, similar to all other behaviors, crime
could be learned. Every feature of person, criminal or noncriminal, could be learned from the type of
environment a person grew up in or their interests. For instance, a person s interests could be learned
by the type of music they listen to and the artist s message or the types movies they watch, including
violent ones. Out of the several diverse theories given, Aker s social learning theory fits best with the
film, Weather Underground. The social learning theory consists of four different concepts, which are
differential association, definitions, differential reinforcement, and imitation. From the four concepts,
only two will be discussed. The first idea would be differential association and this is the process by
which a person is exposed to normative definitions favorable or unfavorable to illegal behavior
(Bernard, Snipes, Gerould, 2016, p.199). Within differential association, there are two different groups
that this concept applies to. One group focuses on the primary groups, who are family and friends, and
the other group is secondary groups, which is based on church, school and the media. The second idea
would be imitation and this is the engagement of behavior after the observation of similar behavior in
others. Imitation could be through prosocial or deviant

Ethnic Differences Between Nationality And Ethnicity
Rise of Nationalities
A group of people tied to a place is a nationality. Ethnicity is similar to nationality. The American
nationality includes any citizen, born or immigrated and became a citizen, of the United States.
Immigrants consider ethnicity more important than nationality. Violate conflicts can be a result of
confusion between nationality and ethnicity.
Nation States
Ethnic groups have become nationalities because the want for self rule is a common attitude for many
of them. Ethnicities want to govern themselves without interference. This is called self discrimination.
Political leaders supported self discrimination in order to put Earth s surface into nation states. A
nation state is a state that is occupied by an ethnicity and can be turned into a nationality. self
discrimination Ethnicities want to govern themselves without interference. nation state A state that is
occupied by an ethnicity and can be turned into a nationality.
Nation states in Europe
In Europe in the 19th century, ethnicities were changed to nationalities. The French ethnic traditions
fused with the Roman Catholic Church to form the French nationality. By 1900, most of Western
Europe was made up of nation states. They competed to control territory in Africa and Asia and
disagreed over boundaries. Eastern Europe did not have nation states. It had a mix of empires and
states that did not correlate to ethnicity. Nazis claimed that all german speaking parts of Europe should

Employee Rights For Pregnant Women
Employee rights are some of the most controversial topics among healthcare right now. Institutions
that provide employment to citizens must now abide by relatively intense discrimination laws that
seek to prevent discrimination of prospective employees based on race, sex, religion, national origin,
physical disability, and age by employers. In addition, the Supreme Court of the United States that
supported the right for people to define and express their identity, implemented a law that seeks to
prevent employment discrimination based on sexual orientation. Once an employee is hired, there are
further discriminatory laws that prevent bias in hiring, promotion, job assignment, termination,
compensation, retaliation, and various types of harassment. Now more than ever are laws and
constitutions being edited to meet the standards of the evolving evolution. In my research paper, I will

Scarlet Letter
Written in 1850, Nathaniel Hawthorne s, The Scarlet Letter stood as a very progressive book. With
new ideas about women, main characters stories intertwined, and a multitude of themes, The Scarlet
Letter remains today as an extremely popular novel about 17th century Boston, Massachusetts. Not
only was the 19th century a time for the abolition of slavery movement, but it was also the beginning
of the first wave of feminism, the advocacy of women s rights on the basis of the equality of the sexes.
Many may believe that because of this introduction to feminism, the novel directly pertains to the
ideology of it. Hester Prynne, protagonist of The Scarlet Letter, shows similar qualities of a feminist,
such as strength and independence. Although these traits are similar to that of feminist, Hester
encompasses a strict form of maternal instinct, which distinguishes her drive for action from the
feminist movement entirely.
The strength portrayed in Hester Prynne, a well known adulteress in this New World society, has no
direct relationship to feminism as we view it today. Hawthorne s representation of Hester s strength is
simply a personal trait, not an idea used to strive for equality among women. As Hester progresses
through her hardships, the meaning of the scarlet letter embroidered on her bosom shifts from a
negative connotation to a positive one, in fact many people refused to interpret the scarlet A by its
original signification. They said that it meant Abel (Hawthorne

Analysis Of Marjane In Persepolis
Location and childhood are two major components that make up someone s identity. A person is
shaped by the world around them and how they see themselves within it. For Marjane in Persepolis
(Marjane Satrapi, Vincent Paronnaud), this is rather difficult as her identity has been formed both
through her life in Iran and the liberal, western political views held by her family. The film portrays
her childhood in Iran and her teen years in Austria, through a simplistic form that show the differences
in ideologies and the universality of their problems. This paper aims to examine the contribution of the
form of the film, the style of the film, and the plot in showing the comparison and universality
between western and eastern ideologies and the formation of an adult in a world of these two
ideologies. Persepolis alternates between the present and the past in the life of Marjane, telling the
story of her childhood years in Iran, her teen years in Austria, and finally her adulthood and realizing
that she does not quite fit in in either location. This narrative style allows reflection from adult Marji,
who is recounting her stories. The viewer must recognize that many thoughts are not child Marji s, but
adult Marji s after growth and reflection. Therefore, when her childhood is being recounted, this is the
product of years of memories that are contributing to the retelling of this one time. The narration
reveals more about the events that have affected and influenced Marji because

Johnny Cash Research Paper
Johnny Cash, born J.R. Cash, was one of seven children born to parents Ray and Carrie Cash in

Information Communications Technologies And Social Media...
Executive Summary
Technology has had a huge impact on education in recent years. Although there has been an increase
in learning methods, technology has also made students increasingly distracted. This subsequently
gave rise to the increasing need for teachers to facilitate the use of technology in the classroom. To
make sure that their students stay focused and to fully utilize the potential of technology, Ministry of
Education (MOE) Singapore must leverage on its main resource, teachers. MOE should utilize
technologies such as collaborative technologies and social media where teachers can be present to
facilitate. The effectiveness of these strategies would depend on the efforts of the teachers. MOE
should provide proper incentives to these teachers and implement quotas or requirements for teachers
to meet.

The On Being Born And Dying
There are two things that you can count on in life: being born and dying. Everyone will experience
death, which makes it inevitable part of human life. According to the Centers of Disease Control and
Prevention, there are approximately 2,596,993 deaths. The death rates are approximately 821.5 deaths
per 100,000 population, and the life expectancy is 78.8. Nurses tend to avoid the subject of death and
dying, but fail to realize that death is a part of the holistic care that is promised to clients. In saying
this, nurses must deal with their own death in order to help someone else cope with dying or death of a

As a nurse, you must understand the different types of death as well as the stages of grief in order to
help the client as well as the family. According to Taylors, the different types of death include natural,
sudden, and suicide. Natural death is when a person dies naturally like in their sleep from old age.
This is expected. Sudden death is unexpected like when someone dies in a car crash. Suicide is when a
person kills themselves. When understanding the stages of grief, the nurse should know that the stages
don t necessarily go in order. First is the denial stage. Denial is a coping technique that people use to
protect themselves. An example of denial would be like a client saying I m not sick or I am not dying.
The doctor does not know what he is talking about. I will get a second opinion. Anger is the next
stage, which is often directed at the family or healthcare members. Anger is when the client, family, or
both are being rude. As the nurse, since you know that the client and the family are going through the
grieving process, do not take the rudeness personal. Bargaining is making a deal with God to prolong
life (Taylor). A patient might say, Lord, if you save my life, I promise to go to church every
Wednesday and Sunday. Depression results from the loss experienced because of health care status
and hospitalization. During the depression phase, the nurse might see a persistent feeling of sadness or
loss of interest that

Why Did The United States Become A World Power Dbq Essay
The years between 1860 and 1877 are filled with many developments in the views of the American
people. The North consisted of free states based on an industrial economy while the South based its
agricultural economy on the enslavement of colored males and females. The two sections of America
had two very different views on how the United States should become a world power. Constitutional
developments such as secession of the Southern states in 1860, the Emancipation Proclamation, and
other acts and amendments contributed to more discontent throughout the country. Developments such

Some states attempted to nullify unfavorable laws. This was viewed as open rebellion and ultimately
lead to the secession of North Carolina. North Carolina seceded from the union on December 24,
1860, claiming that certain duties were imposed on states and many of their powers were restrained.
They argued that this imperiled their continued existence as sovereign states and that they could
secede because the right is implicit in the constitution. They provided legal documents provided in the
law of compact stating that the federal government did not uphold its agreement to honor North
Carolina s rights as a sovereign state ((Document A). This constitutional development helped
contribute to a revolution because after these drastic actions taken by the Southern states, the
questions of the states rights needed to be resolved. Since the North had won the Civil War provided
them the opportunity for them to put down the idea of nullification and secession to rest permanently.

The Matter Of Whiteness By Richard Dyer Essay
Epiphany Samuels
Final
#1
The last line in the introductory chapter of The Matter of Whiteness written by Richard Dyer states
Thus it is that the paradoxes and instabilities of whiteness also constitute its flexibility and
productivity, in short, its representational power boils down to the unusual nature (some contradictory)
that makes white people who they are and what they do allows. This unusualness allows for white
people to be free (of labels, of master etc.) and thus maintain power. A quote my argument enhances
Switzerland north of Germany and Scotland (1987: 209). Such places had a number of virtues the
clarity and cleanliness of the air the rigor demanded by the cold the Enterprise required by the harness
of the terrain and climate the sublime Soul elevating beauty of mountain vistas even greater nearness
to God above and the presence of the whitest thing on earth snow. All these virtues could be seen to
have formed the white character its energy, enterprise, discipline and spiritual evolution and even the
white body
This quote creates the idea that being white is being made perfectly by God like a Snowy Mountain
(21) even made perfectly in his image. These virtues that are being spoken about in the idea of a white
character energy, enterprise, discipline, spiritual evolution these are words and phrases that coincide
with godliness. I will use two as an example, number one, If is said that God made the word out of
nothing in seven day which takes

Descriptive Essay About A Restaurant
Gazing out the summer heat surrounded by the bold skyline, the rest of the city appears flat as if the
skyscrapers are all that stands. The soundtrack of the thriving brightly lit city plays beneath. The
constant high pitched notes of long blaring horns and traffic whisking by being enough to feel
overwhelmed even without the breathtaking view. Dining often at this luxury rooftop, I have been able
to see the unsettling truth, my own rushed reflection.
There is a long row with two small sized black sofa s sitting across from each other in the middle,
there is a glass table set with a flower arrangement long enough to reach from one end of the couch to
the other. With my laptop bag in one hand waiting at the hostess stand, I feel relieved, when I see that
there is seating all the way at the end away from the loud laughing crowd for me to choose. The
hostess has been viewing the arrangement of seating for the restaurant for what seems like forever to
decide where to seat me. I repeatedly look at my watch having reached such a high level of frustration
with waiting for the hostess to pick where she would like to have me seated. Everyone waiting to enter
the restaurant behind me jumps and directs their attention to me as a loud BOOM! Is heard, my hand
slams down on top of the hostess seating chart that she has been studying for the past decade to decide
where I should be seated. Loose papers and pens fly like confetti. Looking her in the eyes and fiercely
grabbing a blue dry

Temporary Disability Essay
There are various laws that afford temporary disability benefits to employees; some of these laws are
Family and Medical Leave Act, Social Insurance programs (TDI), and Workers Compensation.
However, income replacements are not provided through federal laws, but there are a few states that
have temporary disability insurance in place ( Temporary Disability Insurance, n.d.). Short term
disability programs (SDI) offered in a few states but the norm would be for an employee to use
accrued sick and annual leave or leave without pay to cover absences caused by illness and or injury.

Department of Labor (DOL). The federal government mandates federal employees programs and each
state has their own set of laws. This program financially aids (generally two thirds of normal wages)
employees, who would otherwise lose wages and incur substantial medical expense, due to job related
injuries. The injuries can occur while traveling for business, on the job or social functions that are
related to work. There are monetary benefits, along with rehabilitation, Death benefits, retraining and
other benefits available under the program ( Workers compensation benefits, n.d.). There are certain
exclusionary employees such as those who work for employers with less than five workers, farm
workers, and domestic servants (Gallagher, 2011). Employees who take advantage of this benefit

The Success Of A Fortune 500 Company That Has A Huge...
In society as a whole, we have grown accustomed to learning more about a company through the help
of websites. Websites gives us an understanding about a particular core values, their products, and
even their reception to potential clients. By typing in an organizations name into our search engine, we
will undoubtedly make a decision to buy their products or go to someone else. This fact makes
creating a well thought out website dire to the growth of a company. In my paper I expect to explore a
fortune 500 company that has a huge influence in the restaurant business. We all have heard of this
company, and in many cases have visited it from time to time. I for one have actually worked for this
company for a number of years. My job ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(2016). One of the main reasons I decided to choose to write about Denny s is because of the legal
problems that Denny s encountered years ago directly related to diversity within the work place. This
type of publicity put a tremendous strain on Denny s image as well as its financial status. Since the
early 1990s, Denny s have received negative publicity about employees that treated minorities in an
unequal manner. Throughout my paper I will discuss what happened and the steps they had to do to
change their perception to the public. I m also inquired to know what other restaurants have dealt with
discrimination controversies and the necessary steps that were taken. Now there are numerous
instances where African American patrons were treated differently from their white counterparts in
Denny s all across the United States. Some of the restaurants were accused of making blacks prepay,
not serving them as quickly as whites were served and sometimes not serving blacks at all. In one
case, black Secret Service agents assigned to protect the president said they sat unserved until all the
whites around them finished eating. Sutton, M. (2002). The chain s employees also were accused of
ejecting black customers, segregating black from white customers, using racial epithets, failing to
honor advertised specials for black customers and trying to limit the number of black customers in a
restaurant at any one time. Fletcher, M. (1994). Situations like

Smart Antenna System Essay
INTRODUCTION
1.1 Antenna Systems:
Depending on the number of antennas used in the transmitting and receiving sections, the systems are
divided into 4 types.
1.1.1 SINGLE INPUT SINGLE OUTPUT (SISO): Fig 1.1.1: SISO
In SISO, there will be only single transmitter and a single receiver. This is the general system which
we use. The simplest antenna technology is SISO. In some environments, this system is vulnerable to
problems caused by multipath effects. When an electromagnetic field (EM field) is met with
obstructions such as hills, buildings, utility wires, and canyons the wavefronts are scattered, and thus it
take multi paths to reach the destination. Fading, cut out (cliff effect), and intermittent reception
(picket fencing) are the problems caused by late arrival of scattered portion of signals. In a digital
communications system, it cause a reduction of data speed and number of errors is increased.
In order to eliminate or minimize problems caused by multipath wave propagation, a new technology
has been introduced and it is Smart Antenna Technology. There are three forms of smart antenna,
known as SIMO (single input, multiple output), MISO (multiple input, single output), and MIMO
(multiple input, multiple output).
1.1.2 SINGLE INPUT MULTIPLE OUTPUT (SIMO) : Fig 1.1.2 : SIMO
In SIMO, there will be only single transmitter and many receivers.
1.1.3. MULTIPLE INPUT MULTIPLE OUTPUT ( MISO): Fig. 1.1.3 : MISO

Lack Of Public Education Essay
In addition to threatening democratic decision making, a lack of education also prevents citizens from
understanding, and therefore fulfilling their civic functions. When citizens do not understand the
organization of the government, they may fail to recognize their own place in it. Every democracy
endows its citizens with some check on the power of the leaders, and citizens have an obligation to
know what checks they have as well as how and when to use that check. Because this power is
generally, if not always, distributed broadly amongst the citizenry, there must always be a critical mass
of informed citizens to recognize the need for the check and to then use it when it is necessary. If no
such critical mass exists, the check is rendered ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Reconciling these observations is beyond the scope of this paper, but it is worth noting that the
common schools Adams praises in his work had mostly died out by the time of the revolution, and
most schools were closed during the revolution itself. De Tocqueville also explored a broader section
of the (by then larger and less developed) country than Adams inhabited, which included states whose
literacy rates today are lower than Massachusetts was in the seventeenth

Metamorphosis By Franz Kafka Essay
The beginning of The Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka starts with a powerful symbolism. A person
walking up in a form of a gigantic bug. But what if this whole story is a symbol, symbol of the author
s life. What if Franz Kafka tells his life story in his book covering it under the story of Gregor Samsa.
If one decides to look deeper into Kafka s life after reading the book he will find a lot of similarities
between the author and the character he created. By Comparing Franz Kafka s family, work, and
personal life, along with his physical and emotional state it becomes clear that The Metamorphosis is
the autobiographical story. One of the biggest similarities one can find between these two characters is
their relationship with father. Kafka s father ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The topic of alienation can be seen both in his personal life and his book. He felt like there was
nobody else there for him. He lived in Prague, Czech city and did not speak the language feeling that
he didn t not belong there. At work Kafka was a popular employee, easy to socialize with and seen as
somebody with a good sense of humor. But his personal life still raged with complications (A E
Television Networks). He did not have any friends and never attached to anybody in his entire life.
Just like Kafka, Gregor is alienated too. Even before his metamorphosis one can see how he does not
have any friends or any serious relationships with anybody besides his family. Also, Kafka was Jewish
but live among people who looked down upon people of his nationality and religion. Kafka shared the
fate of much of Western Jewry people who were largely emancipated from their specifically Jewish
ways and yet not fully assimilated into the culture of the countries where they lived (CliffsNotes).
That correlates with how Gregor is treated after he turns into a gigantic bug. He is different from
others and stays in his room understanding

It s Time for a Supranational Sustainable Development Authority
The ingenuity of man that lead to the unprecedented global development of the twentieth century
would certainly not have been possible without the earth s rich natural resources. In this century, Earth
has endured a population explosion, yet still has the agricultural capacity to nourish a global
population of over six million people. At the same time, the quality of life in industrialized nations is
perceived to have risen in tandem with the availability and affordability of mass produced consumer
products made possible by the resourceful use of raw materials and energy. Many trumpet this
situation that man has created, and urge further industrial growth in the ... Show more content on

Then, I will evaluate various perspectives on attaining sustainable development. Lastly, I will argue in
support of two paradigm shifts necessary for serious implementation of public policy initiatives aimed
at its promotion.
An Introduction to Sustainable Development
In 1980 and again in 1992, Presidents Jimmy Carter and George Bush faced rough economic times
and partially blamed environmental policy. Both presidents men that had campaigned as
environmentalists scaled back environmental regulation in hopes of stimulating the economy and their
re election campaigns (Krupp). The men failed on both accounts, and compromised environmental
protection for supposed economic benefits.
Evidence suggests that the environment need not be pitted against economic well being as Bush,
Carter, and many others have done; sustainable development is the key to ensuring well being of today
s citizens as well as future generations.
A 1996 essay by British Member of Parliament Chris Smith analyzed many of the jobs versus
environment claims made by opponents of environmental regulation. Chris Smith states that lost jobs
often attributed to environmental legislation would often have soon been eliminated anyway; in many
cases, environmental policy serves as a convenient scapegoat. He cites incidents in which jobs are
actually created by enactment of environmentally friendly public policy. For example, a

  • 2. Fetus Lead Contamination My company has consistently tried to reduce lead exposure to its employee s. In fact, they are the ones that initiated programs to decrease the lead exposure to its workers. Whenever employees receive a doctor s report stating that his or her lead blood levels are high, they would be transferred out with benefits. It s been proven that lead is toxic and can have ill effects on an unborn child, and these effects may not manifest themselves immediately at birth. In addition to that, lead levels that may be safe for a fully grown adult are still toxic to a developing infant fetus. The policy established in 1977 did not result in protecting women and their children from excess lead levels. During the beginning stages of conception, the ill effects ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In any realm of the world, it is always better to be safe than sorry. The decision made should be that the company change it policy and implement the one that requires complete exclusions of women with childbearing capacity from high lead exposure positions. According to the law book, Consequentialism deals with the ethics and morality of the consequence of actions instead of the actual actions themselves, so in other words, lying itself is not unethical, but the results of lying may indeed be unethical. While it may not be fair or necessarily ethical to exclude women from those toxic environments, the end result of the policy change would be ethical because it would prevent the lead from ever having the chance of affecting the potential unplanned child. The potential unborn child is the most affected from the policy change and stands to gain the most out of it; by implementing the policy, it would give the children of any unplanned pregnancies the opportunity to live a normal life without any defects due to the absence of toxic lead levels. The end result of a healthy baby justifies the means of potential unethical exclusion of women from a toxic even if they want to environment. In order to enforce and monitor the policy, any potential eligible women who wish to work in the toxic lead environment would be subject to a medical examination in order to confirm that the woman is ... The movie follows Cleopatra VII, last queen and monarch of Ancient Egypt from 48 BCE (allying with Caesar) to her suicide in 31 BCE. Indeed, there is a growing gap between the real world and the academy since people are more intellectual about things that are irrelevant to the real life and are ignorant of things that are imperative to live in the real world (Orr 310). Did you know that there are over four hundred thousand deaths caused by cigarettes and tobacco each year in the U.S. alone? While peer pressure is accountable for provoking teenagers to smoke just for the sake of it, advertisement is more responsible for initiating young adults to just puff their lives away for acceptance. According to Martin, about eighty percent of American advertising executives believe that advertising is very effective because it makes smoking more appealing and socially acceptable to children. The tobacco industry is making billions and billions while hundreds of thousand are getting hooked on tobacco through the use of advertisements and media ploys. Advertising is by far the most effective and prominent way tobacco companies use to induce young adults. To successfully combat smoking or to eliminate tobacco companies altogether, hopefully sometime soon in the future, an ideal student must learn to recognize and to resist the many elements tobacco companies use in advertisement to hook young adults. One of the elements that often appears in the media is the association of young, attractive individuals with cigarettes to convey to the youth that smoking is appealing. • 10. The Drug Approval Of The Disease Essay There are over 7,000 rare diseases affecting between 25 and 30 million Americans (Global Genes 2016). A disease or disorder is defined as rare in the U.S when it affects fewer than 200,000 Americans at any given time (Eurordis 2016). Some of these rare diseases come with even more rare and controversial decisions. The FDA just made its most controversial drug approval of the year (Fortune 2016). This injectable drug is called eteplirsen by Sarepta Therapeutics and it is an exon skipping drug targeting a section of genetic code called exon 51 in the dystrophin gene. Exon skipping is a type of strategy that is being developed for the rare disease DMD (Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy). The exon skipping process skips sections of genetic codes during protein manufacturing, allowing cells to create shortened but partially functional dystrophin protein which is the muscle protein that is missing in DMD. This rare X linked disease was first described in the 1850 s by French neurologists Guillaume Duchenne but was not known to inhibit the production of protein dystrophin and result in the loss of motor functions and muscular degeneration until the 1980 s (MDA 2016). 1 in 3600 6000 live male births has resulted in DMD (Bushby 2010). Most patients are diagnosed around 5 years of age when their physical abilities are no longer similar to their peers (Bushby 2010). Stress does not always have to be viewed as a bad thing. For example, stress can motivate someone to study for an exam or plan ahead in his or her agenda to stay organized. Its only when stress manifest out of control and is not addressed properly that it can have very negative effects on both our mental and physical health. Reflecting on the document we watched in class, Stress: Portrait of a Killer, I was surprised to learn more about baboons correlating to human beings stress management and how you position as individual in the hierarchy of life has in effect on the levels of stress you may endure. In the documentary I learned a lot about how dominant male baboons has lower stress levels which in turn, made these baboon relativity healthier compared to their other members of their group. The baboons who had higher stress levels also has high blood pressure, not as good immune system, and a poor reproductive system. This just goes to show the position the baboons held in their hierarchy related to their health and ultimately, their life span. This idea that stress is related to poor health and life expectancy is not only true for baboons, but for human beings as well. Media Portrayal Of The Media Media deteriorating life of developing teens Rapid changes in a young developing body can be crucial, leaving long term health issues that are difficult to reverse and possibly lead to death. Today s media has an immense influence on how teens view themselves in regards to what is considered beautiful. Exposure to the media has pressured teens to feel like they need to change their body image to be model perfect and fit what the media considers beautiful . Media portrayal of beauty and youth can cause insecure teens to alter their diet and lifestyles causing serious mental and physical health issues. Often these changes can be drastic causing the body to freak out and not work the same way it used to. The effects of rapid changes would be depression, weight gain, weight loss, weak immune systems and collapsing organs. Many times depression in teens is a result of the constant need of feeling like they have to alter their weight, curves, fitness, and overall self image. • 15. The Hybridization Of Baroque Art The Baroque period of the 1600 and 1750s began in Europe and defined the art of the time (Stechow 111). Spain s quest for the unity and assimilation to Spanish culture of its subjects in the Americas led to the systematic suppression and destruction of the indigenous cultures of the regions, such as the Aztecs and the Incans. Baroque art was only supposed to be another aspect of Spanish culture for the indigenous population to assimilate to (Gauvin 4, 33 34). However, the Baroque period created an atmosphere in the Americas that led to a blending of the Spanish and indigenous cultures. The subsequent art and architecture that was created was a hybrid formed from the cultures coinhabiting the area. This hybrid form has been characterized as a hidden inscription of difference within the fictional sameness of official culture, as rebellious graffiti camouflaged in the forest of baroque symbols (Salgado 317 318). It provided a place for the people of Latin America to subtly celebrate and preserve their heritage that Spain was threatening. To understand the significance of the cultural impact that the hybridization of Baroque art had on culture in the Spanish colonies of the New World, we must first define what hybridization of an art form means. Then we will investigate what constitutes baroque art and why it was so conducive to being hybridized. To further the understanding of the hybridization, we will examine the painting Our Lady of Guapulo and the architecture ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Intra And Inter Generational Equity INTRAAND INTER GENERATIONAL EQUITY IN THE ANTHROPOCENE Introduction Anthropocene era is minuscule compared to geologic era but has already made huge impact upon world s ecology and physical resource. Creating and maintaining some mechanism to prevent runaway consumption and misuse of resource is paramount to ensure justice and equity among population of present as well as future generation. Without such mechanism, people tends to become self centered and they act without any regard for others; creating imbalance in resource use and social order within space time continuum. Intra generational equity deals with equity and justice issues within present generation, while inter generational equity is about ensuring equity and justice among generations without any concomitant presence on Earth. In addition, it will provide for more safety precautions and ensure those exotic animals in captivity are provided for every day. The first step in our process of analyzing the recommendations of exotic pet ownership in Missouri was researching the current regulations in other states and what was working and not working in those states. Currently, every state has varying regulations and within those states, many cities and counties have assorted regulations as well. Based on the success of the drastic changes the state of Ohio has made in the exotic animal ownership regulations, their platform for change is one to model. Ohio was once a state with no restrictions on exotic animal ownership prior to the 2011 incidence of Terry Thompson, who set free his exotic animal farm of fifty plus animals before committing suicide. This incident pushed the already in question exotic pet ownership regulations into national limelight. Furthermore, another policy I would make in case of any natural disaster emergency for any state to get the same distribution, is to classify how much help it needs besides money. For example, Texas and Florida were some of the states that were affected but we know they will get help faster because of their location. I know people that live in California but they traveled to Texas to help. Everybody was asking for donations asking for food, water, and clothes to help everybody in need. So, everybody was helping because it s the moral duty to help others when somebody needs help. Furthermore, I know that many American Citizens are going to help because we can get to that destination that needs help. However, if any state that is outside of the ... • 25. Carbon Fiber Essay INTRODUCTION Background Aerospace design applications rely heavily on weight reduction, structural integrity and optimize performance. Engineers and designers have adopted carbon fiber composite due to its high modulus reinforcement fibers embedded in an epoxy matrix. Also called graphite fiber or carbon graphite, carbon fiber consists of very thin strands of the element carbon. Each fiber is 5 10 microns in diameter as shown on Figure 1, one micron (um) is 0.000039 inches. Carbon fiber composite material is a special candidate for aerospace applications because of its high tensile strength, corrosion and fire resistant properties, which provides functional integrity by design, results in high strength and light weight construction that could be formed into practically any shape or form. These fibers are constructed with multiple laminate which are bonded together with a matrix or resin system. When combined with resin and wound or molded to form composite materials, a high strength to weight ratio is achieved. Figure 1. Carbon fiber 5 microns Carbon Composite Materials Under industrial production now, carbon fibers are classified into PAN based (polyacrylonitrile based) seen on figure 2, pitch based (coal tar and petroleum products) and rayon based. The manufacturing of carbon fiber involves a chemical and mechanical process. Hence the constructed calorimeter has been more efficient in reducing the enthalpy number upon burning ethanol compared to the copper calorimeters that have been previously used. Its has become known that due to more heat being absorbed the enthalpy number has significantly been improved by almost 10%. In the results, it is stated that the accepted value for the burning of ethanol is 1300 kJ/mol however; the results show that when using the copper lab calorimeters only 73.47 kJ/mol of ethanol was burned, on the other hand when the constructed calorimeter was tested it burned 715 kJ/mol.In order for the enthalpy number to be closer to the accepted value less energy must be consumed when burning the alcohol however, when using the copper calorimeters a substantial amount of air is being lost to the surroundings. Shown by ethanol s chemical formula of C2H6O it forms hydrogen bonds with itself. Hydrogen bonds are stronger than that of most alkaline bonds therefore requires a large amount of energy to break them apart (Clark, 2003). Meaning that in order for the combustion to take place with less energy more heat needs to be directed towards the calorimeter. Aker s Social Learning Theory In Weather Underground There are various different theories that have been applied to what has caused crime, including: biological, psychological, control and plenty of more. However, similar to all other behaviors, crime could be learned. Every feature of person, criminal or noncriminal, could be learned from the type of environment a person grew up in or their interests. For instance, a person s interests could be learned by the type of music they listen to and the artist s message or the types movies they watch, including violent ones. Out of the several diverse theories given, Aker s social learning theory fits best with the film, Weather Underground. The social learning theory consists of four different concepts, which are differential association, definitions, differential reinforcement, and imitation. From the four concepts, only two will be discussed. The first idea would be differential association and this is the process by which a person is exposed to normative definitions favorable or unfavorable to illegal behavior (Bernard, Snipes, Gerould, 2016, p.199). Within differential association, there are two different groups that this concept applies to. One group focuses on the primary groups, who are family and friends, and the other group is secondary groups, which is based on church, school and the media. With new ideas about women, main characters stories intertwined, and a multitude of themes, The Scarlet Letter remains today as an extremely popular novel about 17th century Boston, Massachusetts. Not only was the 19th century a time for the abolition of slavery movement, but it was also the beginning of the first wave of feminism, the advocacy of women s rights on the basis of the equality of the sexes. Many may believe that because of this introduction to feminism, the novel directly pertains to the ideology of it. Hester Prynne, protagonist of The Scarlet Letter, shows similar qualities of a feminist, such as strength and independence. Although these traits are similar to that of feminist, Hester encompasses a strict form of maternal instinct, which distinguishes her drive for action from the feminist movement entirely. The strength portrayed in Hester Prynne, a well known adulteress in this New World society, has no direct relationship to feminism as we view it today. Hawthorne s representation of Hester s strength is simply a personal trait, not an idea used to strive for equality among women. As Hester progresses through her hardships, the meaning of the scarlet letter embroidered on her bosom shifts from a negative connotation to a positive one, in fact many people refused to interpret the scarlet A by its original signification. • 34. Analysis Of Marjane In Persepolis Location and childhood are two major components that make up someone s identity. A person is shaped by the world around them and how they see themselves within it. For Marjane in Persepolis (Marjane Satrapi, Vincent Paronnaud), this is rather difficult as her identity has been formed both through her life in Iran and the liberal, western political views held by her family. The film portrays her childhood in Iran and her teen years in Austria, through a simplistic form that show the differences in ideologies and the universality of their problems. This paper aims to examine the contribution of the form of the film, the style of the film, and the plot in showing the comparison and universality between western and eastern ideologies and the formation of an adult in a world of these two ideologies. Persepolis alternates between the present and the past in the life of Marjane, telling the story of her childhood years in Iran, her teen years in Austria, and finally her adulthood and realizing that she does not quite fit in in either location. This narrative style allows reflection from adult Marji, who is recounting her stories. The viewer must recognize that many thoughts are not child Marji s, but adult Marji s after growth and reflection. Therefore, when her childhood is being recounted, this is the product of years of memories that are contributing to the retelling of this one time. The narration reveals more about the events that have affected and influenced Marji because ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Sudden death is unexpected like when someone dies in a car crash. Suicide is when a person kills themselves. When understanding the stages of grief, the nurse should know that the stages don t necessarily go in order. First is the denial stage. All these virtues could be seen to have formed the white character its energy, enterprise, discipline and spiritual evolution and even the white body This quote creates the idea that being white is being made perfectly by God like a Snowy Mountain (21) even made perfectly in his image. These virtues that are being spoken about in the idea of a white character energy, enterprise, discipline, spiritual evolution these are words and phrases that coincide with godliness. • 47. Descriptive Essay About A Restaurant Gazing out the summer heat surrounded by the bold skyline, the rest of the city appears flat as if the skyscrapers are all that stands. The soundtrack of the thriving brightly lit city plays beneath. The constant high pitched notes of long blaring horns and traffic whisking by being enough to feel overwhelmed even without the breathtaking view. Dining often at this luxury rooftop, I have been able to see the unsettling truth, my own rushed reflection. There is a long row with two small sized black sofa s sitting across from each other in the middle, there is a glass table set with a flower arrangement long enough to reach from one end of the couch to the other. With my laptop bag in one hand waiting at the hostess stand, I feel relieved, when I see that there is seating all the way at the end away from the loud laughing crowd for me to choose. The hostess has been viewing the arrangement of seating for the restaurant for what seems like forever to decide where to seat me. I repeatedly look at my watch having reached such a high level of frustration with waiting for the hostess to pick where she would like to have me seated. Everyone waiting to enter the restaurant behind me jumps and directs their attention to me as a loud BOOM! Is heard, my hand slams down on top of the hostess seating chart that she has been studying for the past decade to decide where I should be seated. Loose papers and pens fly like confetti. Looking her in the eyes and fiercely grabbing a blue dry ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Temporary Disability Essay There are various laws that afford temporary disability benefits to employees; some of these laws are Family and Medical Leave Act, Social Insurance programs (TDI), and Workers Compensation. This program financially aids (generally two thirds of normal wages) employees, who would otherwise lose wages and incur substantial medical expense, due to job related injuries. The injuries can occur while traveling for business, on the job or social functions that are related to work. There are monetary benefits, along with rehabilitation, Death benefits, retraining and other benefits available under the program ( Workers compensation benefits, n.d.). • 49. The Success Of A Fortune 500 Company That Has A Huge... In society as a whole, we have grown accustomed to learning more about a company through the help of websites. Websites gives us an understanding about a particular core values, their products, and even their reception to potential clients. By typing in an organizations name into our search engine, we will undoubtedly make a decision to buy their products or go to someone else. This fact makes creating a well thought out website dire to the growth of a company. In my paper I expect to explore a fortune 500 company that has a huge influence in the restaurant business. We all have heard of this company, and in many cases have visited it from time to time. I for one have actually worked for this company for a number of years. My job ... One of the main reasons I decided to choose to write about Denny s is because of the legal problems that Denny s encountered years ago directly related to diversity within the work place. This type of publicity put a tremendous strain on Denny s image as well as its financial status. Since the early 1990s, Denny s have received negative publicity about employees that treated minorities in an unequal manner. Throughout my paper I will discuss what happened and the steps they had to do to change their perception to the public. I m also inquired to know what other restaurants have dealt with discrimination controversies and the necessary steps that were taken. Now there are numerous instances where African American patrons were treated differently from their white counterparts in Denny s all across the United States. Some of the restaurants were accused of making blacks prepay, not serving them as quickly as whites were served and sometimes not serving blacks at all. In one case, black Secret Service agents assigned to protect the president said they sat unserved until all the whites around them finished eating. Sutton, M. (2002). The chain s employees also were accused of ejecting black customers, segregating black from white customers, using racial epithets, failing to honor advertised specials for black customers and trying to limit the number of black customers in a restaurant at any one time. • 50. Smart Antenna System Essay INTRODUCTION 1.1 Antenna Systems: Depending on the number of antennas used in the transmitting and receiving sections, the systems are divided into 4 types. 1.1.1 SINGLE INPUT SINGLE OUTPUT (SISO): Fig 1.1.1: SISO In SISO, there will be only single transmitter and a single receiver. This is the general system which we use. The simplest antenna technology is SISO. In some environments, this system is vulnerable to problems caused by multipath effects. When an electromagnetic field (EM field) is met with obstructions such as hills, buildings, utility wires, and canyons the wavefronts are scattered, and thus it take multi paths to reach the destination. Fading, cut out (cliff effect), and intermittent reception (picket fencing) are the problems caused by late arrival of scattered portion of signals. In a digital communications system, it cause a reduction of data speed and number of errors is increased. In order to eliminate or minimize problems caused by multipath wave propagation, a new technology has been introduced and it is Smart Antenna Technology. There are three forms of smart antenna, known as SIMO (single input, multiple output), MISO (multiple input, single output), and MIMO (multiple input, multiple output). 1.1.2 SINGLE INPUT MULTIPLE OUTPUT (SIMO) : Fig 1.1.2 : SIMO In SIMO, there will be only single transmitter and many receivers. 1.1.3. • 51. Lack Of Public Education Essay In addition to threatening democratic decision making, a lack of education also prevents citizens from understanding, and therefore fulfilling their civic functions. When citizens do not understand the organization of the government, they may fail to recognize their own place in it. Every democracy endows its citizens with some check on the power of the leaders, and citizens have an obligation to know what checks they have as well as how and when to use that check. Because this power is generally, if not always, distributed broadly amongst the citizenry, there must always be a critical mass of informed citizens to recognize the need for the check and to then use it when it is necessary. If no such critical mass exists, the check is rendered ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... But what if this whole story is a symbol, symbol of the author s life. What if Franz Kafka tells his life story in his book covering it under the story of Gregor Samsa. If one decides to look deeper into Kafka s life after reading the book he will find a lot of similarities between the author and the character he created. By Comparing Franz Kafka s family, work, and personal life, along with his physical and emotional state it becomes clear that The Metamorphosis is the autobiographical story. One of the biggest similarities one can find between these two characters is their relationship with father. Kafka s father ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It s Time for a Supranational Sustainable Development Authority The ingenuity of man that lead to the unprecedented global development of the twentieth century would certainly not have been possible without the earth s rich natural resources. In this century, Earth has endured a population explosion, yet still has the agricultural capacity to nourish a global population of over six million people. At the same time, the quality of life in industrialized nations is perceived to have risen in tandem with the availability and affordability of mass produced consumer products made possible by the resourceful use of raw materials and energy. Many trumpet this situation that man has created, and urge further industrial growth in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Then, I will evaluate various perspectives on attaining sustainable development. Lastly, I will argue in support of two paradigm shifts necessary for serious implementation of public policy initiatives aimed at its promotion. An Introduction to Sustainable Development In 1980 and again in 1992, Presidents Jimmy Carter and George Bush faced rough economic times and partially blamed environmental policy. Both presidents men that had campaigned as environmentalists scaled back environmental regulation in hopes of stimulating the economy and their re election campaigns (Krupp). The men failed on both accounts, and compromised environmental protection for supposed economic benefits. Evidence suggests that the environment need not be pitted against economic well being as Bush, Carter, and many others have done; sustainable development is the key to ensuring well being of today s citizens as well as future generations. A 1996 essay by British Member of Parliament Chris Smith analyzed many of the jobs versus environment claims made by opponents of environmental regulation. Chris Smith states that lost jobs often attributed to environmental legislation would often have soon been eliminated anyway; in many cases, environmental policy serves as a convenient scapegoat. He cites incidents in which jobs are actually created by enactment of environmentally friendly public policy. For example, a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
