The WebView Role in Hybrid ApplicationsHaim Michael
As of Android 4.4, the WebView class is based on the Chromium web browser. As a result of that, many of the difficulties we faced when developing hybrid applications for the android platform no longer exist. The meeting will start with overviewing the fundamental concept of hybrid applications. We will learn how to write code in JavaScript that while running inside the WebView it calls functions we define in Java and vice versa. We will see how we can debug code in JavaScript running inside the WebView and go through the many advanced capabilities we can enjoy when using the WebView class. In addition, we will understand how PhoneGap works and what might be the best practice for using it.

Depending on your goal, you might deploy Magento application differently. It may be a deployment on development environment: for an extension developer or for a contributor. It may be production environment: this may have a lot of variations, as each project is different. Depending on your case, you should now some Magento specifics that would help you avoid common mistakes leading to inefficient or broken deployment. In this session, I’ll focus on such details with relation to each type of the deployment process.
With .NET Core, Microsoft has started a new era for developing multi-platform software. ASP.NET Core web framework is written from scratch, works on all major platforms including Window, Linux, MacOS - and even on RaspberryPI, and brings all-around extraordinary performance. After the short introduction, we'll look into what's new in versions 2.x and through demos analyze the basic templates for web and API applications, connecting with client-side frameworks as well as using the console and IDEs.
With the increase in the number of devices that emit information it has become ever more important to be able to retrieve this data and process accordingly. In response to this need, MQTT has become the defacto lightweight transport for connecting an "Internet of things". With that being said, how do your applications support for eventing, messaging, and scheduling? Utilizing Spring Boot and Spring Integration you will see how to create an application with a scheduler that will retrieve data from a web service, cleanse and emit the data via MQTT. Then you'll see how to create an application, also written using Spring Boot and Spring Integration, that will capture the MQTT events and record the results. From this discussion you can see how to use these tools and take advantage of them for your own big data projects as soon as you return to the office.

A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

These examples are intended to help new users of Wicket "bootstrap" their
understanding by
showing them small examples of functioning web applications. Unlike many
Wicket examples,
these examples include test cases, usually with 100% coverage.

* common desktop metaphors with 'MOVE', 'COPY' and 'LINK' operations
* transfer types
* themeable
* works in Firefox, Safari, Chrome, IE and Opera
- wicket-rest (http://code.google.com/p/wicket-rest/)
wicket-rest was born out of the realization that wicket provides some nice
features for
RESTful services and the KISS concept. I was working on a project using Wicket
and needed
RESTful services. I used JAXRS to start but soon noticed my Spring
configuration and code
getting a little bloated. With wicket-rest you can create a RESTful service by
extending
JsonWebServicePage or XmlWebServicePage and implementing the doGet, doPost,
doPut, and
doDelete methods. It's that easy. All XML/JSon marshaling and unmarshaling is
handled by
XStream and Gson, and your defaultModelObject is set by the API from the
incoming message
body. Just call setDefaultModel and your model object will be sent as XML or
JSon. Thanks
to Bruno Borges and his blog:

for the initial thought and implementation.

ICEpush for Wicket brings the power of Ajax Push to any Wicket-based

for Wicket provides a PushPanel component you can extend to create your own
custom Ajax Push
functionality. For a given PushPanel, all you need to do is implement the
push callback
logic associated with notifications to a group. Panel IDs are used to
organize push groups,
giving you complete flexibility in defining notifications within your Wicket
application.

Based on Wicket and JCR, it is the best Wicket-based CMS framework available
today. BRIX is
simple yet powerful and extensible, allowing designers the highest degree of
freedom in
developing a rich user experience. Using Apache Wicket as the technology to
serve the content
makes it very easy to embed custom, stateful Wicket components into any CMS
page, allowing
rich integration with any existing Wicket web application. Using Apache
Jackrabbit allows
Brix to easily integrate full text search, versioning, and WebDav access. Brix
is
business-friendly, open sourced under the Apache Software License version 2.0.
Why Brix? Most CMS are for building web sites. Brix CMS is for building web
applications.
Dynamic content is usually an afterthought for most CMS. It is central to Brix
CMS. Brix
allows for dynamic component-based tiles.
