The historian s task of developing an understanding of the past involves the study of
the human past as described in the written documents and objects left by human
beings related to a particular point or period in time. However, there is always the
problem of authenticity of evidence and the interpretation of events that may or may
not be accurate or relevant. Over time more and different evidence often appears and
must be evaluated and compared to existing sources and their interpretation. Human
science puts human experience in context and its aim is to explain human behavior
by creating theories to predict it and then solve problems identified by those
predictions considering them in terms of human self knowledge that allows us to
understand ourselves as people. It is very important for us as people to know
ourselves: where knowing who we are and where we stand means knowing the things
that distinguish us from other people, by knowing our true nature as humans.
The value of history is that it teaches us what man has done is. We consider history
as a journal of our memories stating that those who don t study the past are
condemned to repeat it . Basically, it gives us a frame of events to consider the
possible outcomes of present and future actions. It helps us understand past triumphs

An Experimental Investigation On Enzymes
Enzymes are catalytic proteins that act to speed up chemical reactions that occur in
our bodies and in the bodies of many other organisms by reducing the amount of
activation energy required in order for a reaction to occur. Without enzymes, the
chemical reactions that take place in all organisms would take place too slowly to
keep the organism alive. Since all enzymes are proteins, and protein s functions are
dependent on their structure, enzymes require certain conditions to maintain their
perfect structure. The disorder of structure and function of an enzymeis known as
denaturation. Certain factors such as temperature, pH, enzyme concentration, and
substrate concentration have certain effects on enzyme activity. To investigate the
effects of these different conditions, an experimental investigation was set up to test
the four different variables and their effect on the enzyme catecholase as it catalyzes
catechol, the solute. Results can be seen on Figures A D.
Figure A shows the data collected when an enzyme s reaction rate, in other words,
absorbance, is measured at varying temperatures. Beginning with an absorbance of
0.549, the enzyme, catecholase, shows an inversely proportional relationship between
its absorbance and increasing temperature. Our data shows that as the enzymes are
subjected to higher temperatures, the enzymes are rendered inactive and therefore
denatured. On the other hand, the enzyme s optimal potential is shown somewhere
between 10ЛљC and 24ЛљC.

try. The complexity of nature is too alluring to the human mind to leave to its own
devices. Instead, we analyze it. One way we do this is to write about it. For example,
we use imagery in poems to describe it, just as Emily Dickinson did.
The use of imagery throughout the poem allows the author to display her
perspective on the simplicity of nature. When she describes nature, she often uses
small animals, such as a squirrel and a bird called a bobolink, as examples. She
then builds on those images with things such as the sea and thunder to add to the
effect she created in her poem. Taken by themselves, these creatures and things are
simple. However, because she uses all of them together in sequence to describe one
concept, the image grows more complex. It creates a sense of contrast that
complicates the image, giving it more substance and allowing it to take on a more
complete form. These contrasts are all throughout the poem.
The various contrasts all through the poem suggest the vast complexity involved in

dead skin cells and from pores and bacteria on our skin. Acne can occur on your
face, neck, back, shoulders and chest because these areas of your body have the
most oil glands. Acne is most common on the cheeks, about eighty percent of
people have cheek acne. Acne can also depend on your diet and what you put on
your skin and in your hair. Eating healthy and not putting lots of product on your
skin will help prevent acne. Hair gels and fragrances cause hair follicles to clog up
with causes acne. Acne was discovered in the 1950s. Antibiotics were taken orally
and they beneficially helped. As well, there are many different types of acne. The
three categories of acne are mild, moderate, and severe. If you have mild acne, you
will have occasional pimples. Moderate acne is when papules appear on the skin.
A papule is a pimple that has swelled up and can form a rash but no pus comes out
of it. Severe acne is nodules and cysts appearing on your skin. A nodule is a much
more severe pimple that affects deeper layers of the skin as well as being large and
inflamed. A cyst is inflammation from clogged oil ducts that may rupture. There are
also blackheads and whiteheads. A blackheadis a pore filled with dead skin cells and
excess oil. Blackheads are a dark color because of melanin, excess skin pigment.

The Field Of Social Work
The field of social work has experienced an increased awareness of the need to
advanced in both educational and professional development. I realize that
preparation for this career actually includes a great deal of required coursework and
hours of field experience. My fieldwork is central to my learning and serves as an
integrative experience in which I use what was previously learned in class and apply
it to my practice experience.
I am currently in a very rewarding field study at the Osborne Association, Training to
Work Program. Training to Work offers mentorship and opportunities to both men and
women who are on work release. The program is designed to reduce the rate of
recidivism and to assist participants in gaining meaningful employment and trainings.
This experience requires considerable amount of meeting with participants and
providing support, empowerment and advocacy.
My supervisor is a central feature of my field experience as she ensures the
integration and application of knowledge, theory and skill that was taught in the
classroom. Each week my supervisor who is very skilled and encouraging provides
a one hour supervision session where process recordings are reviewed and any
concerns or personal challenges are addressed. In addition, my strengths are also
highlighted, as well as any struggles that I may appear to be having, and my
adaptation to the program.
My field study environment feels safe, challenged, secure and respected. Each week I

My Teaching Philosophy And Philosophy
The class, Principles of Teaching 2, has taught me a lot this term. From learning
about different educational philosophies, the learning and the teaching process,
creating lesson plans, learning about project approach, making essential questions,
experiential learning, constructivist approach, cooperative and collaborative
learning, classroom management, handling and adapting to different scenarios in
the classroom to facilitating a class discussion. I can say that this class has been
