Light is a form of energy that allows us to see objects by reflecting off of them. Light sources can be natural like the sun or artificial like light bulbs. Light travels very quickly in straight lines in all directions from the source. It can pass through transparent materials, only partially pass through translucent materials, and not pass through opaque materials. Reflection and refraction change the direction of light rays when they encounter different materials or change speed. Lenses and optical devices like glasses use refraction to magnify or redirect light for applications such as vision correction and microscopes.
