Nutrients provide cells with energy and four body systems work together to carry out nutrition: the digestive system breaks down food and absorbs nutrients, the respiratory system inhales oxygen and exhales carbon dioxide for cellular respiration, the excretory system filters waste from the blood and removes it from the body through sweat and urination, and the circulatory system transports blood to circulate nutrients and oxygen to cells and remove waste.
