My Life After The United States
This story is about my mom when she immigrated to Canada and so, this essay is from her point of
view. The one choice that changed my life forever was that our family emigrated from Hong Kong
to Canada in 1974. I was only seven years old when my family came to Canada for a job offer but
mainly it was for a better life. I had to leave behind many loving familymembers in Hong Kong. We
also left behind our old lives, our home, and our friends. Our journey began when we hopped on a
JAL (Japan airlines) jumbo jet on a sixteen hour flight to Vancouver, British Columbia with a brief
stop over in Tokyo, Japan. Everything looked foreign to us on our arrival. What we hoped in the
future was to be able to learn English, to adapt to our... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The British were to hand back Hong Kong to China on July 1, 1997. My mom s biggest fear was
what would happen to Hong Kong after it returned back to China. It was impossible for my mom
to predict and guess. Therefore, my parents made the important decision to immigrate to Canada
and they believed that we would have a better future in Canada. Page 2Like many other
immigrants, my dad went through a lengthy process to apply as a new immigrant to Canada.
Foreign skilled workers are welcomed in Canada because they would contribute to Canada s
growing economy. In November, 1973, my dad submitted his application in Chinese and
application fee to the Consulate General of Canada (Government of Canada) in Hong Kong. In
addition, his ex employer, Mr. Chow, was a guarantor on the form. He guaranteed that my dad
could support himself and his family when he arrived in Canada. Shortly after, our family was
asked to get medical examinations. My parents had their background checked for criminal record.
Successful applicants would become landed immigrants (now known as permanent resident) which
would allow them to receive benefits, and be eligible to become Canadian citizens, and permission
to live and work in Canada. Finally, after a call from the Consulate General of

Same Sex Couples Adoption Rights
Building Families
A child is known to have a mom and a dad; growing up with knowing mom is a woman and dad
is a male, but realizing a child can be adopted by a same sex couple. A child can have two dads or
two moms and would still grow up normal just any other kid in the world. Adoption laws vary state
by state, some other states do not allowed homosexual couples such as Florida. Actually USA
TODAY explains thirteen states Arkansas, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Mississippi,
Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota, Tennessee and Texas prohibited same sex
marriage before the Supreme Court decision. Even though the LGBT community has been

According to the American Academy of Pediatrics illustrated children with gay parents and children
with heterosexual parents show no differences in gender identity or gender role behaviors. A
research carried out by Cambridge University consisted of finding differences and similarities
between same sex couples and heterosexual of adoptive families. Researchers discovered The
differences that did emerge relate to levels of depressive symptoms in parents, which are
especially low for gay fathers, and the contrasting pathways to adoption which was second
choice for many of the heterosexual and some lesbian parents but first choice for all but one of
the gay parents. Not only does adoption rights for same sex couples help create families but also
Gay adoption increases the pool of couples who are able to adopt, which can move more children
out of the child welfare system into a stable family. This is a pro not only for the child, but it also
reduces the financial burden to taxpayers. (Child warfare System). Another Research study was
taken in Australia, Dr. Simon Crouch notes that in same sex couple parents have to take on roles
that are suited to their skill sets rather than falling into those gender stereotypes. This leads to a
more harmonious family unit and therefore feeding on to better health and wellbeing. (Kids
raised by same sex couples are Healthier and Happier ). Through these studies there are positive
responses that demonstrate same sex couples adoption does not cause any harmful insecurities to
the child, they are found to be the same as a child raised by a heterosexual couple. Furthermore,
same sex parents can provide shelter and love just like any other pair of parents, yet children still

The Definition Of Rational Thought
There are several different types of ways of thinking, which undergoes diverse processes. One of
the approaches is rational thought, which is one of the key factors to science (Gauch, 2003). The
science is a particular area proving theories by reasoning (Giere, Bickle, and Mauldin, 2006). Whilst
there have been several examinations related to means people think rationally, it seems to be
important to understand what rational thoughtis; furthermore, the approach can be an influential
factor in academic fields. In this essay, the domain, Urban Design, will be examined as a sample.
Before examining how rational thought is employed in Urban Design field, this essay will describe
the definition of rational thought.
When people think, there are two types of ways of thinking; System 1 and System 2 (Kahneman,
2012). He states that System 1, called fast thinking, is decision making process without an explicit
evaluation, through the process, an idea would be produced intuitively, which is unconscious,
uncontrolled and almost effortless. Besides, Dewey (1933) described tree types of thinking
approaches as effortless means. One of them is unconscious thinking, which is applied in the
situations: being sleep and awake, it is considered that there would be not much or important or
helpful production of this type of thinking. Another one is imagining thinking, which does not exist,
is not an object. The imagination can result in a conclusion for thinker; nonetheless, it is not always

Theories Of The Common Sense
Questioning whether or not people make choices seems to be an arbitrary concept to ponder.
Common sense causes one to believe that, of course, humans make choices daily. Even now,
common sense dictates that it is a choice to read this paper or even for this paper to be written at
all. However, according to one form of early philosophy, common sense has led society astray.
Each event that occurs throughout the universe has causation such that one never acts of his or
her own free will. This theory of the absence of free will, known as hard determinism, has three
main premises as its basis. The first premise states that no event is uncaused (Kleinman 64). This
appeals to humanity s practicality; for every force, there is an equal and opposite force. One
reaps what he or she sows. What goes around, comes around. This form of logic demonstrated in
the first premise satisfies society s intrinsic desire for predictability and reason. The second
premise then states that if an event is caused, it must occur; likewise, if it must occur, no other
outcome could be achieved. Thus, if every event s outcome is predetermined through causation,
no man can act against it; this tenet makes up the third and final premise (Kleinman 64).
Therefore, based upon these three premises, no man holds the power of free will. As can be
imagined, hard determinism appears to have a few holes in its validity as a theory. A person, for
instance, consciously makes choices each day, such as choices of diet

Shattered Glass Character Analysis
As I finish watching the movie, shattered glass, I saw that Stephan glass is a unique person when
it comes to writing. The way that Stephan took the The New Republic and fabricated all those
stories tells you something about his unique personality. Stephan has a way to get the attention of
people through his stories and how he fabricated them to seem like these events had occurred. He
thrives for the attention and is a person in need of gaining trust from these people to be accepted in
that certain environment. Stephan is a person who assumes the identity of the writer he is and
starts to make these certain stories come realistic.
Stephan is a superior writer and is very talented when it comes in the use of imagery, but fails in
hiding specific details in the story. Being a good writer must come with priorities in writing and the
big mistake he did was leave clues behind that lead him to be caught. The idea of him fabricating
several stories shows his is a prolific writer, but this ultimately leads to his downfall, giving way
to the damage of his reputation as a writer. Glass is an exceptional writer and the articles he has

Types Of State And Independent Schools
Schools as organisations
1.1Identify the main types of state and independent schools
Foundation and trust schools
Community schools
Specialist schools
Independent schools
Academies
Free schools
Sixth form colleges
Single sex schools
Faith schools
Grammar schools
Primary and secondary schools 1.2Describe the characteristics of the different types of schools in
relation to educational stage(s) and school governance
Foundation and trust schools Foundation schools are owned by their own governing body. They
confirm the admission policy with the help of the local education authority. The school is owned
by the governing body or a charity organisation, they will also own the land and the buildings of
the school. A trust school is similar to a foundation school but they create a charity trust with an
external partner E.g. A business. To become a trust school, it will need to be accepted by the
governing body whilst consulting parents.
Community schools They are owned by the local authority which supports the school creating
associations with the local community and also offering support services. The local authority also
creates the admission policy and helps develop the facilities of the school for groups such as adult
classes.
Specialist schools These are mainly secondary schools who showcase their status for one or two
subjects that they specialise in. Applying for this status allows them to receive more funding from
the government.

Athenian Democracy Essay
Athens is the city state which is considered to be the place where democracy was created even
though people often dispute whether Athens was a true democracy. Democracy is a cultural idea,
justice to all people, people s power, and people having the right to vote, essentially democracy is
all about the people. These characteristics make Athens a true democracy. Democracy is a cultural
idea change over time. Professor Hansen stated that Demokratia, the Greek word for democracy,
means the rule of the male citizens only. Later on, he announced, the concept of the demos to mean
the adult male citizens. In Athens because of the word demos, their laws circumvented the idea of
ruling men. The Athenian laws, where men could only vote, were democratic... Show more content

Aristotle had written, current citizens give their votes, first on whether the new candidates

commissioners of the festival Fund, and the Superintendent of the water Supply are elected by
vote. All military officers are also elected by vote. Professor Camp wrote in his article, Once a

the democracy? Professor Hansen also says that their word democratia was meant to mean the
rule of the men. From this people got the freedom of making decisions on who they felt would
make a grant citizen. The city state Athens is surely a democracy. If every place resembled Athens
people would get fair treatment, decide who to be voted out of the city state, have control and
continue the true meaning of democracy. Athens started a democracy and everyone should be the
one to follow because it is a great form of government. Professors from right now and people from
the Athens time area agree that is an enlightening place and is a democracy. Democracy is an

Sources of Mercury and Health Effect
Sources of Mercury and Health Effect
Mercury is a naturally occurring element found in the earth s crust that can be found as the
elemental or metallic mercury or in many organic and inorganic compounds. Mercury is a metal
that when at room temperature is a silvery liquid metal and is often called one of the heavy metals.
Mercury can evaporate like water, and become airborne. It is an element that does not break down
into a less toxic substance. Once mercury escapes into the environment it will continue to circulate
in and out of the atmosphere until it ends up at the bottoms of lakes and oceans. It cannot be created
or destroyed (UWM, 2004). The most common or leading source of mercury in the environment is
atmospheric deposition. Once mercury has reached the atmosphere it can circulate for years which
make up for the extensive distribution in the environment. The natural sources that contribute to
atmospheric mercury are volcanoes, geologic deposits of mercury, weathering of rocks and
volatilization from the ocean. Rocks, sediments, water and soil also naturally contain small
amounts of mercury; scientists have even found some local mineral occurrences and thermal
springs that are natural high in mercury (USGS, 2009). Secondary sources of mercury result from
burning fossil fuels and smelting metals. Mercury is also a by product of gold and zinc mining.
Mercury is also found in many rocks one of them being coal, when coal is burned in power plants

DATABASE AND DATABASE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
Database From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia A database is an organized collection of data.
The data are typically organized to model relevant aspects of reality in a way that supports
processes requiring this information. For example, modeling the availability of rooms in hotels in
a way that supports finding a hotel with vacancies. DBMS stands for Database Management
System. In short, a DBMS is a database program. Technically speaking, it is a software system
that uses a standard method of cataloging, retrieving, and running queries on data. The DBMS
manages incoming data, organizes it, and provides ways for the data to be modified or extracted
by users or other programs. Database management systems (DBMSs) are specially... Show more

Its distinguishing feature is that the schema, viewed as a graph in which object types are nodes
and relationship types are arcs, is not restricted to being a hierarchy or lattice. 3. Relational
model The relational model for database management is a database model based on first order
predicate logic, first formulated and proposed in 1969 by Edgar F. Codd.[1][2] In the relational
model of a database, all data is represented in terms of tuples, grouped into relations. A database
organized in terms of the relational model is a relational database. Diagram of an example
database according to the Relational model.[3] In the relational model, related records are linked
together with a key . The purpose of the relational model is to provide a declarative method for
specifying data and queries: users directly state what information the database contains and what
information they want from it, and let the database management system software take care of
describing data structures for storing the data and retrieval procedures for answering queries. Most
relational databases use the SQL data definition and query language; these systems implement
what can be regarded as an engineering approximation to the relational model. A table in an SQL
database schema corresponds to a predicate variable; the contents of a table to a relation; key
constraints, other constraints, and SQL queries correspond to predicates. However, SQL databases,
including DB2,

Spinoza s Argument Paper
In this paper I will provide a fuller explanation to Spinoza s argument in 1p6 and 1p7 in order to
clarify possible ambiguities that arise in sequence of the argument and demonstrate a fallacy in the
argument. In order to understand the content of Spinoza s argument, however, one needs to
understand his terminology of substance, attributes, and modes, given that it is the basis of his
propositions. Additionally, one needs to pay careful attention to the Axioms and Propositions prior
to 1p6c and 1p7 to understand the transition that occurs between these two propositions. With that
in mind, Spinoza s view regarding substance becomes clearer in proposition 1p6c and 1p7, although
it provides a contradiction. PART A: In order to understand the content of the Ethics 1p6c, it is
necessary to grasp Spinoza s definition of substance, attributes, and modes. Spinoza refers to
substance as something that is not interdependent with anything but itself to exist, which does not
require a prior conception of another thing (I.def.3). Moreover, attributes allow the intellect to
perceive the unique... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Furthermore, Spinoza refers to modes/affections as additional properties dependent on the presence
of a substance, for it is not possible to have a property of something if something is nothing.
Equally important, Spinoza is considering substance to be a first cause and self caused thing and
does not ascribe substance to any particular thing but God, only once, at the beginning of Ethics I
[by] God I mean an absolutely infinite being; that is substance consisting of infinite attributes...
[expressing] eternal and infinite essence (I def.6). This, in fact, demonstrates Spinoza s approach
regarding substance by not using God as an example of substance in propositions one through
seven. With that in mind, in

The Importance Of Technology In Feed
In the futuristic world M.T Anderson creates in Feed, the misuse of technology is a problem the
world faces. The novel Feed describes how the world could be in the future if humans let
technology rule their lives. Anderson wants the reader to realize the effect technology has on our
lives, and he also wants us to understand how we are being controlled and manipulated by media.
Therefore, Anderson, fearing that one day technology will surpass humanity by creating a society
of idiots like in the novel Feed, warns the reader from the futureour society might face if we don t
make a change soon.
The novel describes scenarios of the world where we live. For example: people are becoming less
intelligent because technology is dominating the human race. Moreover, One major theme is how
technology, including media and advertising, ruins the future. Since the feed is in the teenagers
head, they live and die by the feed. Everything they want is

The National Holiday Of Columbus Day Should Not Become A...
The national holiday of Columbus Day should never have become a recognized Federal holiday.
Christopher Columbus did not actually discover the Americas. There were millions of
indigenous people already living in the location that he was exploring. It is true he was an
explorer trying to find his way to the riches of the Indies and mapping his way for Spain and
Europe however, how is it a discovery when people are already living on the land? He didn t even
make it to the location he was originally trying to reach. He was also a brutal man that enslaved
the people living on the land he discovered .
We as a people enjoy having our holidays off and it has been a recognized holiday since enacted
by Franklin D. Roosevelt. It was celebrated in some aspect or another hundreds of years before
then. We are celebrating a figure that has been romanticized about for so long even though the
truth of the man is a very different story. If we dig further into the truth we will discover that it
really makes no sense to why we have a day to celebrate this man. As a nation we may want to
reconsider either a different celebration of this day or removing the holiday completely.
According to the Library of Congress the first recorded celebration of Columbus Day in the United
States took place on October 12, 1792, for the 300th anniversary of his arriving to America. At the
400th anniversary it was recommended by President Harrison that the United States observe the day

To find the rate that a car decelerates we will use a deceleration function. This is just the opposite
of the acceleration function. In this situation we are working with feet and seconds. The
corresponding units for velocity (speed) will be feet per second (f/s) and for acceleration f/s2. The
acceleration is in the opposite direction to the motion, and so the acceleration is negative. The
following formula only relates the magnitudes of the distance travelled, initial velocity and
acceleration.
The simple formula for the stopping distance is: d=u^2/2a u is the initial velocity
v is the п¬Ѓnal velocity
a is the stopping distance of a car
t is the time of motion
d is the deceleration To find the rate of deceleration of the car at a given speed we can use the

that IBM had one of the most trusted brands around the world, this allowed Lenovo to build on

Terrorism is a word that strikes fear into many hearts, thus causing immediate panic to many.
Although, the word terrorism is doesn t have a definite meaning. People often give their own
opinion on terrorism. President Obama said, according to an article by Laura Beth Nielsen What Is
terrorism? , source Al Jazeera, Anytime bombs are used to target civilians, it is an act of

that he is also a human. Just like any other human he has his own opinion and he also makes
mistakes. An opinion is a view or judgement formed about something. So this could mean Obama
is incorrect in his assumption on the definition of terrorism. Now, that is also my opinion, therefore

30 Cal Brake Research Paper
No doubt, the main purpose of a .30 cal muzzle brake is to reduce the felt recoil of a gun. Just how
that is accomplished is as simple as it is amazing. In a nutshell, a 7.62 muzzle brake is designed to
divert the gasses following behind a fired bullet in order to counter recoil. The .30 caliber muzzle
brakeis overbored enough to allow the round to pass through unimpeded. As the bullet enters the
muzzle brake there is just enough room for the gasses to begin to get around its sides.
It s at this point that a standard threaded 5/8x24 muzzle break goes to work. The gas first
encounters baffles that have been machined into the interior surface of the muzzle break. Within a
mili second, that .300 blackout muzzle brake diverts the gasses horizontally.

Once the Pahlavi dynasty was overthrown and the country perceived to be taken over by Islamic

nevertheless those answers were never found as they were clouded by a long standing hatred

The following speech focuses on how prolonged exposure to porn affects men and women, more
specifically how it affects the hypothalamus in the male brain. Men watch more porn than woman
so I first hypothesized that this difference in viewing weakens the hypothalamus and in turn leads
to desensitization with the act of natural sex. I then found scholarly sources to support my overall
claims. This speech will cover the following points: 1.) How Pornographydesensitizes the male
brain. 2.) How pornography causes its viewers to replicate porn style relationships in own life,
leading to lack of intimacy. (Detachment from reality) 3.) The effects of pornography have on
women 4.) How pornography promotes the objectification of women. These very small variables
play a huge role in weakening the male brain. In addition, I will briefly touch on why woman aren
t effected from an over exposure in the same manner as their male counter parts. The overall aim of
this paper is to reveal how this phenomenon effects males and why they should take immediate
action to not become a statistic.
Why men shouldn t watch too much porn.
A.One can infer that most men view or have viewed pornography at some point in their life.
According to Dr. Patrick F. Fagan, men are more than six times as likely to view pornography and
spend more time viewing it when compared to females. Most males first view pornography during
adolescence at age 13 and continue watching through adulthood.

Physics Of Pitching Research
Physics is the study of matter, energy, and the interaction between them. Physics is involved in so
many things, from sports to spacecraft to instruments. One of the sports physics is involved in is
softball. Newton s first law states when an object is in motion it stays in motion until acted upon by
an outside force. This is the key element in softball. When the pitcher pitches the ball it travels on
the path until the batter hits the ball. The softball travels through the air due to the seams (Bauer
Westfall, Motion of a Softball, 2010). The seams cause high and low pressure fronts while the grip
determines how the ball will rotate. Gravity, wind, air drag, velocity, spin, and Magnus are all
forces acting upon the softball when it is... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As the pitcher pitches the softball the ball continues on the path until the batter hit the ball, thus
changing the direction and speed (Bauer Westfall, 2010). The key to getting a good hit is hitting
the ball on the sweet spot of the bat. The sweet spot is where there is the minimal vibration from
the contact with the ball. This maximizing the energy transferred and the distance the ball will
travel. The sweet spot is located about 17 centimeters from the end of the barrel (Bauer Westfall,
2010). The batter will be able to tell when the ball has hit the sweet spot on the bat because the
batters hands will not sting. To analysis the physics of hitting a softball a person can use an
equation and a free body force diagram (see Appendix A for free body force diagram). A uniform
slender rod, pivoted at the end, represents the bat. FPx is the x factor of the force exerted on the
slender rod by the fixed pivot P. P represents the hands of the batter holding the bat and P is
expected to be a frictionless pivot. FPy is the y factor of the force applied on the slender rod by the
fixed pivot P. G is the center of massof the slender rod. F is the force utilized on the bat by the ball
when it strikes. L is the length of the slender rod. lF is the distance from the point P to the contact
point F. lG is the distance from the point P to the center of mass G. W is the angular velocity of

To An Athlete Dying Young by A.E. Houseman and Crossing The Bar by Alfred, Lord Tennyson
are poems that very similar to each other yet so different. To An Athlete Dying Young is about an
athlete who dies young and Houseman congratulates him because people will remember him
forever. Crossing the Bar is about Tennyson realizing that he is about to die and he accepts his fate.
Both poems have a similar theme of death. Both authors make clever uses of symbols such as, in To
An Athlete Dying Young, Tennyson uses a laurel plant, and a rose plant to symbolize the athlete s
accomplishments. In Crossing the Bar , Tennyson uses the sandbar to symbolize the crossing over.

He knows that his time is coming soon but Tennyson does not want anyone to be sad because he
is going to see his pilot face to face (15). Death gives him a chance to traverse through the
threshold of life and into the afterlife. Tennyson does not think that death is the end, but a
beginning because his spirit will live on with god. He wants death to free him from his hollow
shell of a body. He sees death as a way to reach god and conveys the message that people should
not fear death. Tennyson s view of death is similar to that of Houseman s because they both feel
that death is not something to mourn over. Houseman believes that since the athlete dies very
young, he will forever be remembered by people for what he accomplished. Tennyson believes in
death in which he tells people to be glad that death has given him a chance to see god.
Furthermore, both of these poems make clever uses of symbols. In To An Athlete Dying Young,
Houseman uses plants such as the laurel and the rose to describe an athlete s accomplishments. In
line 11 12 he says and early through the laurel grows/it withers quicker than the rose. Houseman s
use of the laurel describes the athlete s courage. In Greek mythology, the strongest warriors were
given a wreath made of the laurel plant which is a symbol of victory and courage. Houseman uses

International Labor Standards Of Child Work
V. INTERNATIONAL PERSPECTIVE International labour standards characterize child work by
its outcomes; it includes work that is rationally, physically, socially or ethically perilous and
destructive to children, and meddles with their educating. UNICEF characterizes child work as
work that surpasses a base number of hours, contingent upon the age of a child and on the sort of
work. The 18th International Conference of Labor Statisticians held at Geneva held that Child
work (slated for nullification) ought to reflect the engagement of children in undesirable
exercises and could fall into the accompanying classes:(i) Labour that is performed by a child
who is below the minimum age specified for that kind of work and that is thus likely to impede
the child s education and full development. (ii) Labour that jeopardizes the health, safety or
morals of a child, either because of its nature or because of the conditions in which it is carried
out (known as hazardous work). (iii) The worst forms of child labour other than hazardous work
which are internationally defined to encompass children (persons below 18 years of age) in
slavery, trafficking, debt bondage and other forms of forced labour, forced recruitment of children
for use in armed conflict, their use in prostitution and pornography, and illicit activities The
International Labor Organization has evaluated that in 2004 there were 218 million children caught
in child work of whom 126 million where in dangerous work. The

Persuasive Essay On Cyber Warfare
What is cyber warfare and what has been known about it? Well, not much has been brought into
the attention of the people because of interest that is set from all sorts of media. It has come to
the attention of news that seeing is more captivating than what can be understood in a different
level. There is less to be known when it comes to the cyber world, even though it is an ongoing
part of what we are today in regards to technology and communication, without it, things become
way harder than what they used to be, less simple than what they originally were. Cyber warfare is
just the tip of the iceberg on attacks that can cause harm to America and its fundaments that is in
relation to the cyber world. Cyber warfare is primarily internetbased issues that associate with
politically influenced attacks on information and their systems, those attacks can potentially do
things such as deactivate official websites or networks, steal or modify classified data, and
debilitate the financial structure, among many other things. The only way to know the full extent
is to conduct the research yourself and found out what has been going on with the cyber aspect of
the world. In order to expand your knowledge for things cybernetic, there must be a drive to find
more because the media will do little to none in providing details of the next cyber attack or
malicious hardware unless it is affecting important corporations or business of the like.

The Debate About The Gun Laws
In the present day, firearm violence has increased significantly in various parts in the USA.
Now, it is not new to our ear that there is a ton of cases with children and teenagers involving
gun shooting or being arrested in the crossfire. The debate about the gun laws has set, become
one of the most controversial topics in US society and failing to dead end. Increasing of lives
being affected by this killing machine , the concerns arise with the highest ever as how to prevent
the danger of gun while there are millions of them in the market places. It is a tragic to know that
someone is affected by guns almost everyday in news from either hometown or in another part of
the country. By the consequence of guns, they should be illegal in American society rather than
using self defense to protect people, not as weapons to take other s lives because of the increasing
of riskiness, lack of capability of smart guns and inefficient ideas of micromanagement.
First of all, legal guns in public could increase the violent and danger more than ever. It has been
said that freedom of using guns are a part of US liberty. However, many people misunderstand or
underestimate the harmful and dangerous by guns and they may become victims by hasty decision
and put themselves or even their family at risk. Gun violence has taken so many Americans lives
that this country is falling in crimes committed with guns. According to Judson Robinson from

Introduction
Gambling Addiction and Problem Gambling
To some people gambling is just a waste of time and money but to some it can be a winning streak.
Back then in the 1970s 30 55 years old was the typical age that most people gambled but now the
typical age is 17 70 years old. In the United States the legal age to gamble is 21 in most casinos and
in some Indian casinos the legal age is 18. There are many ways to gamble there are casinos, online
gambling and even home gambling with family or friends. Gambling not only interferes with your
money it can also affect and causes problems with an individual s life. Gambling addiction and
problem gambling create physical, emotional, social and financial problems in the lives of the

Internet gambling is easy to get hooked on. There are advertisements for casinos at almost all of
the major search engines and home pages (ex: yahoo, metacrawler, excite etc.) Many of these
advertisements claim that they have free gambling or give away free money. For example one
casino will give you $125.00 for a $50.00 deposit. Do you think they would really give you that
money if they weren t confident that you would get hooked and spend it all there or if they
thought that they wouldn t get it all back? Once they have lured you to their websites it is easy
for them to get your money. It seems a lot easier to spend virtual casino tokens purchased with a
credit card than it is to spend your actual hard earned cash at a real casino. Another obvious
problem with having online casinos is that children have easy access to them. There is no way
to check ID. Anyone with a credit card number can play. Parents of children who gamble online
are legally responsible for the debt that their children accumulate. It is especially easy if the
parents have already been to that particular casino and set up an account. All the child would need
is a password and many computer operating systems have the option of saving passwords and
filling them in for the user. Young people are especially vulnerable to Internet gambling. In
virtually all studies of the rates of gambling problems at various ages, high school and college aged
individuals show the highest problem rates, said

The State Of The United States Lotteries
In the United States, lotteries are coordinated by the legislature amid the colonial and revolutionary
period to raise assets which would be used to support infrastructure, bridges and schools. Amid the
post civil war, Congress authorized a progression of preventive policies which banned lottery
activities. From 1895 to 1963, each state banned lotteries and vetoed them as a source of
compensation. Consequently, in 1963, the state lottery was reinstated as a government, enterprise
and an origin of income by the state of New Hampshire. In many states the administration runs the
lottery as an imposing business model on a substantial scale for organized gambling. The only legal
competition that the lottery has, is with other state governments,... Show more content on

The profit from managing the state lottery is measured as a tax on tickets sold for 60% of the public
adults that play (Hyman, 2014, p397).
When the soldiers had crucified Jesus, they divided his clothes among the four of them. They also
took his robe, but it was seamless, woven in one piece from top to bottom. So they said, Rather
than tearing it apart, let s throw dice for it. This fulfilled the Scripture that says, They divided my
garments among themselves and threw dice for my clothing. So that is what they did (John 19:23
24 NLT)
Lotteries are in a general sense not the same as other gambling in one essential way: they are
afforded only by the state. The lottery is more than a disputable approach to add a minimal
expenditure to state capitals. Some may argue that lotteries are a tax on the underprivileged, a
tax on individuals who are mathematically challenged, even a tax on the stupid, but most people
don t actually believe the lottery is a tax. According to Henry Fielding Lotteries are taxable, upon
all the fools in creation; And Heav n be praised, it is easily raised, Credulity s always in Fashion;

underprivileged individuals, in that a ticket costs somewhat more for a deprived individual than a
wealthy individual, and punitive taxes on poor people and uneducated

they need more help to get better .According to the National Association of Drug Professionals
statistics proved that 75 % of graduates become and remain arrest free for at least two years after
leaving the program. Another neat finding was that individuals that have attended drug court have
helped reduce the amount of crime by as much as 45% more than the common prison time
punishment. As per our text book researchers noticed that there was a 33% reduction in rearrests
rates for drug court graduates. According to New York times the annual average amount a
taxpayer pays to keep an inmate locked up can range anywhere between $31 to $60 thousand

The Catholic Views Of The Roman Catholic Church
The Roman Catholic Church has consistently condemned abortion the direct and purposeful taking
of the life of the unborn child. In principle, Catholic Christians believe that all life is sacred from
conception until natural death, and the taking of innocent human life, whether born or unborn, is
morally wrong. The Church teaches, Human life is sacred because from its beginning it involves
the creative action of Godand it remains for ever in a special relationship with the Creator, who is
its sole end. God alone is the Lord of life from its beginning until its end: no one can under any
circumstance claim for himself the right directly to destroy an innocent human being ( Donum
vitae, 5).
The respect for the sacredness of life in the womb originates in Christianity s Jewish roots. The
ancient Jewish world was much different from the surrounding cultures of Palestine where
infanticide, infant sacrifice and abortion were not uncommon, and in some cases prevalent. For
the Jewish people of those times and orthodox Jews to this day, all human life has as its author
the one God whose creative power produces the child in the mother s womb and brings it step by
step to full life. The Old Testament revelation, which the Church inherited and accepted, gives
clear evidence that life in the womb was considered as sacred. Moses proclaimed, When you
hearken to the voice of the Lord, your God, all these blessings will come upon you and overwhelm
you: May you be blessed in the city,

Nt1310 Unit 3 Network Architecture
Problem Scenario 2: Network Architecture The wireless local area network diagram uses a
combination of three different topologies. The topologies represented are Ring, Star, and Mesh.
The first topology represented is the Ring topology. A ring topology is a network in which all
traffic moves in only one direction because of this the speed is faster than some other topologies,
even as network traffic increases. Due to the configuration of a ring topology the resources of
the network are available to every device and the cost of setup can be lower than some of the
more complicated topologies. However, the configuration of the Ring topology is also a
disadvantage. Since a file sent to any device within the network has to pass through every
device, if one device fails the entire network goes down. (Ethernetpedia) A Star topology is the
second type of topology represented. This topology is easy to install as well as being easy to
expand by connecting additional nodes or devices. Faults are easily detected and parts are easy
to remove. In a Start topology, when devices need to be added or removed, it does not cause
disruptions to the network. This type of topology is used for many different applications, ranging
from small to large networks. (FCIT, Univ. of Florida) While Star topologies may have many...

involved with installation, configuration as well as the on going maintenance involved. The
expense of cabling is also a disadvantage of mesh topologies as they can take more cabling and
more devices than other topologies. (Networking

Serial Killer Essay
A main factor that differentiates serial murderers from other homicidal offenders is their reasons
to commit such horrendous crimes. Usually, homicidal killers kill because of complex conflicts
between families, mobsters, couples, and friends or because money problems. A psychokiller, I
should make clear, is not a regular murderer. A murderer has a vendetta, a nice specific personal
thing against his victim (Serial Killers). However, very different from normal killers, serial
murderers are motivated by compulsion and have the urge to slaughter other humans. Because of
their sexual urges and their desire to satisfy those urges, serial killers most of the time victimize
individuals that they do not know. Grover Godwin, a serial killerprofiler,... Show more content on

Dissimilarly to the movie Silence of The Lambs, in which Dr. Hannibal Lector is a very

or do not have high school diploma. In Godwin s study, he reported that out of one hundred and
seven serial murderers only sixteen percent of them attended college and only 4 percent of them
finished college (Serial Killers). Although most serial killers might not have had formal education,
they are clever enough to not leave any evidence of their crime that can lead the police to them.
Many of them are exceptionally skillful in their presentation of self, so much so that they are
beyond suspicions and thus are difficult to apprehend (Serial Killers). Movies have distorted the
idea of serial killers and created a stereotype that serial killers have hockey mask on their faces
and carry chain saws. However, the truth is that serial killers are skilled at hiding their true selves

Frames In Frank Luntz s Words Of Work
Frames are important because they help us emerge into a world or culture which we might not be
familiar with. Frames help us understand the different perspectives people have. It is important to
note that frames come from language. In his book Words that Work , Frank Luntz describes
frames as the context of any message (Luntz, p.26). He goes on to say that context, or framing, is
important because it explains the why of a message: without context, you cannot establish a
message s value, its impact, or most importantly, its relevance (Luntz, p.26). Naming is a crucial
aspect when discussing frames, as these can influence how an individual perceives a certain idea

fine to be loud because she could not hear what was going on around her. However, she did not

Conch Symbolism In Lord Of The Flies
Symbols: a mark or character used as a conventional representation of an object, function, or
process. Throughout this story the use of symbols were greatly used as a representation of a
civilization journey. The process was made up of 3 important symbols in the novel to which
helped the boys find an escape from the island. The boys found an escape route even if the
symbols were made as a negative impact on how they lived or as a positive impact. The novel, The
Lord of the Flies, written by William Golding utilizes the symbols of: the conch as an illustration
of leadership, the signal fire which illustrates a man s struggle for survival, and the beast is a
representationof man s fear of the unknown.
The conch is used as a symbol in the story as order to act as leader while holding the conch. As the
boys held the conch to speak they were given the chance to let out what they have to say without
everyone talking at the same time. That s what this shell s called. I ll give the conch to the next

wise, since one person could only be the one speaking the others would have to show manners so
that no conflict would start over who s talking and to wait a turn.

The Incidence Of Thyroid Cancer
The incidence of thyroid cancer is rapidly rising in the US accounting for 62,980 cases with 1890
deaths every year[1]. It is the seventh most common cancer diagnosed in women and peaks earlier
than in men. Despite its high prevalence, death rate from thyroid cancer is fairly stable from past
many years. In general, thyroid canceroffers a good prognosis with an overall survival rate of
approximately 90%[2]. Papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) and follicular thyroid carcinoma
(FTC) termed as differentiated thyroid cancer (DTC) contribute to majority of thyroid cancers
sharing a superior prognosis. Medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC), mostly acquired as a part of
familial syndromes, display only modest cure rates. While surgical resection followed by
radioiodine therapy remains the treatment of choice for localized thyroid cancer, it fails to
eradicate tumors with aggressive behavior. In marked contrast to DTC, anaplastic carcinoma
(ATC), an undifferentiated sub type of thyroid cancer, has a higher propensity to locally invade
nearby structures and metastasize rapidly. It approaches to almost 50% of all thyroid cancer
related deaths, the median survival being only six months[3]. The grim prognosis of ATC is due to

Gatorade Research Paper
In the 2012 NFL season, NFL teams drank 1,800,144 bottles of Thirst Quencher. Gatorade had
been in football since the athletes were doing strenuous exercises, they continually battled
dehydration in the Florida heat (Wickford). Our bodies sweat system relies on salts to pump water
onto our skin to evaporate and cool us off (Wilcox). But is Gatoradeas healthy as they make it out to
be?
Gatorade says that their drink was born in a Lab (Jim F). In early summer of 1965, a University of
Florida assistant coach sat down with a team of university physicians and asked them to
determine why so many of his players were being affected by heat and heat related illnesses,
(Gatorade). They soon discovered two key factors that were causing Gator players to fall apart:
the fluids and electrolytes the players lost through sweat were not being replaced, and the large
amounts of carbohydrates the players bodies used for energy were not being replenished
(Gatorade). The researchers then took their findings into the lab, and made a new, precisely
balanced carbohydrate electrolyte beverage ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Sports drink is full of sugar, doing more harm than good. If someone drank Gatorade when
they are not doing anything to make them sweat, it is getting them fatter. Christie Wilcox
explains this is her article, Sports Drinks: More Harm Than Good?, If your goal is to lose
weight, drinking calories is like shooting yourself in the foot (Wilcox). If someone does not
work out at a high intensity for a long time, they do not need the extra calories. So sports drinks
are not for the casual exerciser, while taking a ten minute treadmill run or jog around the block.
However, if someone is doing strenuous exercises for a long period of time, sports drinks can be
highly beneficial. In fact, the Houston Texans drank 88,224 bottles of Thirst Quencher throughout
the 2012 NFL

  • 2. My Life After The United States This story is about my mom when she immigrated to Canada and so, this essay is from her point of view. The one choice that changed my life forever was that our family emigrated from Hong Kong to Canada in 1974. I was only seven years old when my family came to Canada for a job offer but mainly it was for a better life. I had to leave behind many loving familymembers in Hong Kong. We also left behind our old lives, our home, and our friends. Our journey began when we hopped on a JAL (Japan airlines) jumbo jet on a sixteen hour flight to Vancouver, British Columbia with a brief stop over in Tokyo, Japan. Everything looked foreign to us on our arrival. What we hoped in the future was to be able to learn English, to adapt to our... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The British were to hand back Hong Kong to China on July 1, 1997. My mom s biggest fear was what would happen to Hong Kong after it returned back to China. It was impossible for my mom to predict and guess. Therefore, my parents made the important decision to immigrate to Canada and they believed that we would have a better future in Canada. Page 2Like many other immigrants, my dad went through a lengthy process to apply as a new immigrant to Canada. Foreign skilled workers are welcomed in Canada because they would contribute to Canada s growing economy. In November, 1973, my dad submitted his application in Chinese and application fee to the Consulate General of Canada (Government of Canada) in Hong Kong. In addition, his ex employer, Mr. Chow, was a guarantor on the form. He guaranteed that my dad could support himself and his family when he arrived in Canada. Shortly after, our family was asked to get medical examinations. My parents had their background checked for criminal record. Successful applicants would become landed immigrants (now known as permanent resident) which would allow them to receive benefits, and be eligible to become Canadian citizens, and permission to live and work in Canada. According to the American Academy of Pediatrics illustrated children with gay parents and children with heterosexual parents show no differences in gender identity or gender role behaviors. A research carried out by Cambridge University consisted of finding differences and similarities between same sex couples and heterosexual of adoptive families. Researchers discovered The differences that did emerge relate to levels of depressive symptoms in parents, which are especially low for gay fathers, and the contrasting pathways to adoption which was second choice for many of the heterosexual and some lesbian parents but first choice for all but one of the gay parents. Not only does adoption rights for same sex couples help create families but also Gay adoption increases the pool of couples who are able to adopt, which can move more children out of the child welfare system into a stable family. This is a pro not only for the child, but it also reduces the financial burden to taxpayers. (Child warfare System). Another Research study was taken in Australia, Dr. Simon Crouch notes that in same sex couple parents have to take on roles that are suited to their skill sets rather than falling into those gender stereotypes. • 5. The Definition Of Rational Thought There are several different types of ways of thinking, which undergoes diverse processes. One of the approaches is rational thought, which is one of the key factors to science (Gauch, 2003). The science is a particular area proving theories by reasoning (Giere, Bickle, and Mauldin, 2006). Whilst there have been several examinations related to means people think rationally, it seems to be important to understand what rational thoughtis; furthermore, the approach can be an influential factor in academic fields. In this essay, the domain, Urban Design, will be examined as a sample. Before examining how rational thought is employed in Urban Design field, this essay will describe the definition of rational thought. When people think, there are two types of ways of thinking; System 1 and System 2 (Kahneman, 2012). He states that System 1, called fast thinking, is decision making process without an explicit evaluation, through the process, an idea would be produced intuitively, which is unconscious, uncontrolled and almost effortless. • 6. Theories Of The Common Sense Questioning whether or not people make choices seems to be an arbitrary concept to ponder. Common sense causes one to believe that, of course, humans make choices daily. Even now, common sense dictates that it is a choice to read this paper or even for this paper to be written at all. However, according to one form of early philosophy, common sense has led society astray. Each event that occurs throughout the universe has causation such that one never acts of his or her own free will. This theory of the absence of free will, known as hard determinism, has three main premises as its basis. The first premise states that no event is uncaused (Kleinman 64). This appeals to humanity s practicality; for every force, there is an equal and opposite force. One reaps what he or she sows. What goes around, comes around. This form of logic demonstrated in the first premise satisfies society s intrinsic desire for predictability and reason. The second premise then states that if an event is caused, it must occur; likewise, if it must occur, no other outcome could be achieved. Thus, if every event s outcome is predetermined through causation, no man can act against it; this tenet makes up the third and final premise (Kleinman 64). Therefore, based upon these three premises, no man holds the power of free will. As can be imagined, hard determinism appears to have a few holes in its validity as a theory. A person, for instance, consciously makes choices each day, such as choices of diet ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The way that Stephan took the The New Republic and fabricated all those stories tells you something about his unique personality. Stephan has a way to get the attention of people through his stories and how he fabricated them to seem like these events had occurred. He thrives for the attention and is a person in need of gaining trust from these people to be accepted in that certain environment. Stephan is a person who assumes the identity of the writer he is and starts to make these certain stories come realistic. Stephan is a superior writer and is very talented when it comes in the use of imagery, but fails in hiding specific details in the story. Being a good writer must come with priorities in writing and the big mistake he did was leave clues behind that lead him to be caught. The idea of him fabricating several stories shows his is a prolific writer, but this ultimately leads to his downfall, giving way to the damage of his reputation as a writer. • 10. Sources of Mercury and Health Effect Sources of Mercury and Health Effect Mercury is a naturally occurring element found in the earth s crust that can be found as the elemental or metallic mercury or in many organic and inorganic compounds. Mercury is a metal that when at room temperature is a silvery liquid metal and is often called one of the heavy metals. Mercury can evaporate like water, and become airborne. It is an element that does not break down into a less toxic substance. Once mercury escapes into the environment it will continue to circulate in and out of the atmosphere until it ends up at the bottoms of lakes and oceans. It cannot be created or destroyed (UWM, 2004). The most common or leading source of mercury in the environment is atmospheric deposition. Once mercury has reached the atmosphere it can circulate for years which make up for the extensive distribution in the environment. The natural sources that contribute to atmospheric mercury are volcanoes, geologic deposits of mercury, weathering of rocks and volatilization from the ocean. Rocks, sediments, water and soil also naturally contain small amounts of mercury; scientists have even found some local mineral occurrences and thermal springs that are natural high in mercury (USGS, 2009). Secondary sources of mercury result from burning fossil fuels and smelting metals. Mercury is also a by product of gold and zinc mining. The data are typically organized to model relevant aspects of reality in a way that supports processes requiring this information. For example, modeling the availability of rooms in hotels in a way that supports finding a hotel with vacancies. DBMS stands for Database Management System. In short, a DBMS is a database program. Technically speaking, it is a software system that uses a standard method of cataloging, retrieving, and running queries on data. The DBMS manages incoming data, organizes it, and provides ways for the data to be modified or extracted by users or other programs. Database management systems (DBMSs) are specially... Its distinguishing feature is that the schema, viewed as a graph in which object types are nodes and relationship types are arcs, is not restricted to being a hierarchy or lattice. 3. Relational model The relational model for database management is a database model based on first order predicate logic, first formulated and proposed in 1969 by Edgar F. Codd.[1][2] In the relational model of a database, all data is represented in terms of tuples, grouped into relations. A database organized in terms of the relational model is a relational database. Diagram of an example database according to the Relational model.[3] In the relational model, related records are linked together with a key . The purpose of the relational model is to provide a declarative method for specifying data and queries: users directly state what information the database contains and what information they want from it, and let the database management system software take care of describing data structures for storing the data and retrieval procedures for answering queries. Most relational databases use the SQL data definition and query language; these systems implement what can be regarded as an engineering approximation to the relational model. A table in an SQL database schema corresponds to a predicate variable; the contents of a table to a relation; key constraints, other constraints, and SQL queries correspond to predicates. • 12. Spinoza s Argument Paper In this paper I will provide a fuller explanation to Spinoza s argument in 1p6 and 1p7 in order to clarify possible ambiguities that arise in sequence of the argument and demonstrate a fallacy in the argument. In order to understand the content of Spinoza s argument, however, one needs to understand his terminology of substance, attributes, and modes, given that it is the basis of his propositions. Additionally, one needs to pay careful attention to the Axioms and Propositions prior to 1p6c and 1p7 to understand the transition that occurs between these two propositions. With that in mind, Spinoza s view regarding substance becomes clearer in proposition 1p6c and 1p7, although it provides a contradiction. PART A: In order to understand the content of the Ethics 1p6c, it is necessary to grasp Spinoza s definition of substance, attributes, and modes. Spinoza refers to substance as something that is not interdependent with anything but itself to exist, which does not require a prior conception of another thing (I.def.3). Christopher Columbus did not actually discover the Americas. There were millions of indigenous people already living in the location that he was exploring. It is true he was an explorer trying to find his way to the riches of the Indies and mapping his way for Spain and Europe however, how is it a discovery when people are already living on the land? He didn t even make it to the location he was originally trying to reach. He was also a brutal man that enslaved the people living on the land he discovered . We are celebrating a figure that has been romanticized about for so long even though the truth of the man is a very different story. If we dig further into the truth we will discover that it really makes no sense to why we have a day to celebrate this man. The .30 caliber muzzle brakeis overbored enough to allow the round to pass through unimpeded. As the bullet enters the muzzle brake there is just enough room for the gasses to begin to get around its sides. It s at this point that a standard threaded 5/8x24 muzzle break goes to work. This maximizing the energy transferred and the distance the ball will travel. The sweet spot is located about 17 centimeters from the end of the barrel (Bauer Westfall, 2010). Another obvious problem with having online casinos is that children have easy access to them. There is no way to check ID. Anyone with a credit card number can play. Parents of children who gamble online are legally responsible for the debt that their children accumulate. It is especially easy if the parents have already been to that particular casino and set up an account. All the child would need is a password and many computer operating systems have the option of saving passwords and filling them in for the user. Young people are especially vulnerable to Internet gambling. In virtually all studies of the rates of gambling problems at various ages, high school and college aged individuals show the highest problem rates, said ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 31. The State Of The United States Lotteries In the United States, lotteries are coordinated by the legislature amid the colonial and revolutionary period to raise assets which would be used to support infrastructure, bridges and schools. Amid the post civil war, Congress authorized a progression of preventive policies which banned lottery activities. From 1895 to 1963, each state banned lotteries and vetoed them as a source of compensation. Consequently, in 1963, the state lottery was reinstated as a government, enterprise and an origin of income by the state of New Hampshire. In many states the administration runs the lottery as an imposing business model on a substantial scale for organized gambling. The only legal competition that the lottery has, is with other state governments,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The profit from managing the state lottery is measured as a tax on tickets sold for 60% of the public adults that play (Hyman, 2014, p397). When the soldiers had crucified Jesus, they divided his clothes among the four of them. They also took his robe, but it was seamless, woven in one piece from top to bottom. So they said, Rather than tearing it apart, let s throw dice for it. This fulfilled the Scripture that says, They divided my garments among themselves and threw dice for my clothing. So that is what they did (John 19:23 24 NLT) Lotteries are in a general sense not the same as other gambling in one essential way: they are afforded only by the state. The lottery is more than a disputable approach to add a minimal expenditure to state capitals. Some may argue that lotteries are a tax on the underprivileged, a tax on individuals who are mathematically challenged, even a tax on the stupid, but most people don t actually believe the lottery is a tax. According to Henry Fielding Lotteries are taxable, upon all the fools in creation; And Heav n be praised, it is easily raised, Credulity s always in Fashion; For, Folly s a Fund, will never lose Ground; While Fools are so rife in the Nation (Henry Fielding, 1989, p 215). Application Of A Civic Engagement Project Identification: When deciding what topic I wanted to write for my Civic Engagement Project, I already had in mind that I wanted something that most of us are not use to seeing nowadays. Many of us compare courts with punishment, but what if there was a court that did the opposite? When I was starting my research on the different courts we have here in Florida, I came across Drug Courts. The more I read up on drug courts, the more I became fascinated and intrigued. • 33. The Catholic Views Of The Roman Catholic Church The Roman Catholic Church has consistently condemned abortion the direct and purposeful taking of the life of the unborn child. In principle, Catholic Christians believe that all life is sacred from conception until natural death, and the taking of innocent human life, whether born or unborn, is morally wrong. The Church teaches, Human life is sacred because from its beginning it involves the creative action of Godand it remains for ever in a special relationship with the Creator, who is its sole end. God alone is the Lord of life from its beginning until its end: no one can under any circumstance claim for himself the right directly to destroy an innocent human being ( Donum vitae, 5). The respect for the sacredness of life in the womb originates in Christianity s Jewish roots. The ancient Jewish world was much different from the surrounding cultures of Palestine where infanticide, infant sacrifice and abortion were not uncommon, and in some cases prevalent. For the Jewish people of those times and orthodox Jews to this day, all human life has as its author the one God whose creative power produces the child in the mother s womb and brings it step by step to full life. The Old Testament revelation, which the Church inherited and accepted, gives clear evidence that life in the womb was considered as sacred. Moses proclaimed, When you hearken to the voice of the Lord, your God, all these blessings will come upon you and overwhelm you: May you be blessed in the city, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 34. Nt1310 Unit 3 Network Architecture Problem Scenario 2: Network Architecture The wireless local area network diagram uses a combination of three different topologies. The topologies represented are Ring, Star, and Mesh. The first topology represented is the Ring topology. A ring topology is a network in which all traffic moves in only one direction because of this the speed is faster than some other topologies, even as network traffic increases. Due to the configuration of a ring topology the resources of the network are available to every device and the cost of setup can be lower than some of the more complicated topologies. However, the configuration of the Ring topology is also a disadvantage. Since a file sent to any device within the network has to pass through every device, if one device fails the entire network goes down. (Ethernetpedia) A Star topology is the second type of topology represented. This topology is easy to install as well as being easy to expand by connecting additional nodes or devices. Faults are easily detected and parts are easy to remove. In a Start topology, when devices need to be added or removed, it does not cause disruptions to the network. This type of topology is used for many different applications, ranging from small to large networks. (FCIT, Univ. of Florida) While Star topologies may have many... Usually, homicidal killers kill because of complex conflicts between families, mobsters, couples, and friends or because money problems. A psychokiller, I should make clear, is not a regular murderer. A murderer has a vendetta, a nice specific personal thing against his victim (Serial Killers). However, very different from normal killers, serial murderers are motivated by compulsion and have the urge to slaughter other humans. Because of their sexual urges and their desire to satisfy those urges, serial killers most of the time victimize individuals that they do not know. Grover Godwin, a serial killerprofiler,... Although most serial killers might not have had formal education, they are clever enough to not leave any evidence of their crime that can lead the police to them. Many of them are exceptionally skillful in their presentation of self, so much so that they are beyond suspicions and thus are difficult to apprehend (Serial Killers). Movies have distorted the idea of serial killers and created a stereotype that serial killers have hockey mask on their faces and carry chain saws. However, the truth is that serial killers are skilled at hiding their true selves and their terrifying thoughts, which help them fit in with the society. These killers are very cunning that they lure their prey by making them feel safe and secure but in reality they lead them into a trap. Frames help us understand the different perspectives people have. It is important to note that frames come from language. In his book Words that Work , Frank Luntz describes frames as the context of any message (Luntz, p.26). He goes on to say that context, or framing, is important because it explains the why of a message: without context, you cannot establish a message s value, its impact, or most importantly, its relevance (Luntz, p.26). • 39. The Incidence Of Thyroid Cancer The incidence of thyroid cancer is rapidly rising in the US accounting for 62,980 cases with 1890 deaths every year[1]. It is the seventh most common cancer diagnosed in women and peaks earlier than in men. Despite its high prevalence, death rate from thyroid cancer is fairly stable from past many years. In general, thyroid canceroffers a good prognosis with an overall survival rate of approximately 90%[2]. Papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) and follicular thyroid carcinoma (FTC) termed as differentiated thyroid cancer (DTC) contribute to majority of thyroid cancers sharing a superior prognosis. Medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC), mostly acquired as a part of familial syndromes, display only modest cure rates. While surgical resection followed by radioiodine therapy remains the treatment of choice for localized thyroid cancer, it fails to eradicate tumors with aggressive behavior. In marked contrast to DTC, anaplastic carcinoma (ATC), an undifferentiated sub type of thyroid cancer, has a higher propensity to locally invade nearby structures and metastasize rapidly. It approaches to almost 50% of all thyroid cancer related deaths, the median survival being only six months[3]. The grim prognosis of ATC is due to the fact that it is diagnosed at an advanced stage which offers palliative treatment as the only option for patients suffering from the disease. Because of the chemo and radio resistant nature observed in aggressive thyroid cancers, many researchers have been ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In early summer of 1965, a University of Florida assistant coach sat down with a team of university physicians and asked them to determine why so many of his players were being affected by heat and heat related illnesses, (Gatorade).
