The Power of One
One degree more
At 99 water is hot
At 100 it boils
Boiling water produces
steam.
Steam can power an
engine.
A matter of 1
 In 2008, in the Men’s 800 meter
race, the difference between the
Olympic Gold medal and no
medal was 0.29 seconds.
 Wilfred Bungei: Kenya: 1:44:65
 In the Indy 500, 2008 the
difference between the 1st
and 2nd was 1.7 seconds.
 The difference in prize
money was $ 1,714,850.
Only 1° separates
the ‘good’ from the
“GREAT”
Between growing up and
growing old, there is a short
window during which we can
make a difference. Once that
closes, then effectively our life is
over, even if we remain alive.
What differentiates the lion from the antelope?
What differentiates normal light from laser?
What
differentiates
Leaders from
the rest?
Focus
Focus is the
art of ignoring
fluff
If you want to get
what you never had
You have to do what
you never did.
Results come from
actions.
Actions define
YOU
It’s your life
You are responsible
for the results!!
You are now aware
And you have a target
1° >
5 – Realities that we must face
On the path to
success
We become
what we
think
Your mind is like a fertile field
It doesn’t care what you plant in it
But it will return to you whatever
you put in it
Attitude
Present circumstances do not
decide if you will succeed or
fail. They only decide where
you need to start.
Faith
“When you come to the end of the light of
all that you know and are about to step off
into the darkness of the unknown, faith is
knowing that one of two things will
happen. There will be something firm to
stand on or you will be taught how to fly.”
~ Barbara Winters
It is the nature of the
extraordinary goal to
inspire extraordinary
effort.
Perseverance
For success is nothing
more than this;
To rise every time you fall.
It’s not important who
you want to be.
What is important is,
who wants to be You?
I will not allow, what is
not in my control to
prevent me from doing,
what is in my control.
1. Please write one thing that you learnt until now.
2. By when do you plan to implement that in your life?
3. What will help you to implement it?
4. What is likely to hinder you in implementing it?
Quick Recap
Write the most important thing –
even if you learnt more
Goal Setting
The key to superior performance
Our Model
Me
Inspire yourself
Monitor & CoachReward Train & Equip
1. Ask yourself, “What difference do I want to make?”
2. Set that as your overall goal
3. Create a road map & resource map
4. Identify the sources for what you need
5. Re-structure your life with this goal as its purpose

gathered to felicitate your achievements:
2. What would you like to hear at this meeting?
Articulate your Life Goal
What difference do you want to make?
1.Dream it
2.Write it in ONE LINE ONLY
My Life Goal is……….
Your Life Goal is your ‘Differentiator’
Differentiation creates Brand
Brand inspires loyalty
Loyalty enables influence
Why Differentiate?
Without Brand you are a grain of rice in a sack
1. If I asked you to describe, ‘Brand Muslim’,
how would you describe it?
2. What do you think happens to this Brand
when you park your car in someone’s
driveway when you go to the masjid?
3. What is YOUR Brand?
Questions
What was the Brand of Rasoolullah‫?ﷺ‬
What would change
for us, if that
becomes our Brand?
1. Please write your goal
 What does the ‘arrived state’ look like?
2. Write the steps that you need to take
 What will tell you that a step has been achieved?
3. Please set a timeline for each step
 By when will each step need to be completed?
Goal Setting
A goal without a timeline is merely a wish
15 minutes
Make your Life Goal come true
Set SMART sub-goals
S.M.A.R.T. Goals
Specific
Measurable
Actionable
Realistic
Time bound

set yourself?
2. What more do you need?
3. Do you need to enhance your target?

2. Road Map
 Milestones that tell you if you are on the right track and
are going at the right speed
3. Resource Map
 What do you need in order of priority to achieve your
SMART goal?
Road Map & Resource Map

Quick Recap
Write the most important thing –
even if you learnt more
How many of you are
good time managers?
1. People can’t manage time because they try to manage time.
2. Priorities must be set, Options must be exercised, Life
Patterns must be changed, to maximize our Effective Time.
3. Without that, time will never be enough.
Time can’t be managed – Life can
Life is long, not short
Long enough to do or be whatever we want
Provided we know what that is

1. Please write one thing that you learnt until now.
2. By when do you plan to implement that in your life?
3. What will help you to implement it?
4. What is likely to hinder you in implementing it?
Quick Recap

20% of what you do, produces 80% of the results
1. Everyday make a list of 3 activities you need to do
in order of priority according to impact.
2. Then start on the 1st and continue until you finish
it. If you are interrupted, go back to it and
complete it. Then go on to the next.
3. If any are left over, re-write the list the next day in
the same way.

Develop Assertiveness:
“Self expression through which one stands
up for one’s rights without violating the
rights of others.”
The magic word – “No!”
1. “I would like to give you my full attention. So why
don’t we talk about this at (set another time).”
2. Make it a habit of never interrupting others. If you
have nothing to do, don’t do it in their space. That
way they won’t do it in yours.
3. Make punctuality an obsession.
6 – ‘No!’ tactics
4. Never ‘Forward’ emails. Delete the ones you receive,
unread. And tell everyone that you do this.
5. Don’t join email groups or indulge in email discussion
about all kinds of global issues. The world does not
change because of emails or internet petitions.
6. Say ‘No’ to anyone who speaks about divisions between
people, communities or nations
6 – ‘No!’ tactics
1. Please write one thing that you learnt until now.
2. By when do you plan to implement that in your life?

Choose your friends
Abu Huraira (RA)
reported: Rasoolullah‫ﷺ‬
said, “A man is upon the
religion of his best friend,
so let each of you look at
whom he befriends.”
(Abu Dawud)
“Your best friend is the one
who: seeing him reminds
you of Allah‫,ﷻ‬ speaking to
him increases your
knowledge, and his actions
remind you of the
hereafter.” (Al-Muhasibi)
What kind of friend are you?
1. Remember it is not about Time at all.
2. It is about Life.
