2. Warm up…
3 x 5 minute drawings on one sheet
Create 3 line drawings using gestural, contour and posture lines.
Don’t forget to use the overhand grip.
3. Measuring
30 minute standing pose
Draw a centre line
Use the head as a unit of measurement and mark the
top and bottom of the area to be taken up by the
figure.
Mark a horizontal line for each unit.
Use fractions of the unit to locate the key points: knees,
elbows etc both vertically and horizontally.
4. Tip: Allow the lines to extend
beyond the figure. These can be
used as reference pints for
other parts of the figure.
Use your drawing material to register the
diagonal lines.
Finish the drawing by softening some of
the lines and adding shadow if you have
time.
5. Draw a centre line
(down centre of face or through the ear
when the figure is seated)
Use the head as a unit of measurement
and mark the area to be taken up by
the figure.
Mark a horizontal line for each unit.
Use fractions of the unit to locate the
key points.
Mark in the diagonal position of the
limbs.
Building Blocks: 60 minute seated pose
6. The sphere, cylinder and cuboids are your
building blocks.
Combine these forms to approximate the
form of the figure.
