This document discusses the concept of Library 2.0 in East Asia. It provides examples of libraries in various East Asian countries that have adopted Web 2.0 technologies like blogs, RSS feeds, and social media. Academic libraries were often early adopters of these technologies. Common uses included library blogs to publicize resources and events. The document concludes that becoming part of the online community is more important for libraries than just understanding the technologies and that libraries should advocate for a Library 2.0 mindset.

The tremendous development in Information Communication Technology and their application in the libraries have opened a new door for the libraries and users alike. In the age of Information Technology, there is a large change in the methods and techniques of seeking the information and way of information dissemination on the other hand. The Public Library System is a type of information system which allows the information seeker to use the resources of its end user. But, unfortunately the public libraries of Assam are not fully automated, due to the lack of efficient IT infrastructure as well as insufficient library staffs. So that Public Libraries of are not able to satisfy there users.

Presented at the 2014 Kentucky Pedagogicon Conference, held at Eastern Kentucky University, this librarian-led discussion explored designing assignments and syllabi that effectively utilize the resources and services of a 21st century academic library. After reviewing real-world examples, the audience was asked to identify misguided research instructions that may lead 21st century students down a 20th century path.
When faculty design syllabi, they often design research assignments based on the experiences they had in libraries as graduate students. They may still view the academic library as a warehouse for the storage and preservation of bound journals, microfilm, and books. However, library resources and services have changed dramatically, just in the past 5 years.
Transformative changes in library collection development have included: the emergence of quality open access resources; the dominance of the eJournal over the print journal; the availability of scholarly eBooks; and the rise in digitally born content (eJournals, newspapers, primary sources, etc.). What was once considered a “bad” or untrustworthy format simply because it was found on the open web is now potentially valuable and should not be automatically discounted.
Academic libraries today provide vibrant spaces for collaboration, access to print and virtual collections, and librarians with expertise in delivering instruction that engages students in effectively evaluating all types of information sources. Effective assignment design and syllabi creation will help students be more effective in their research and better users of information. The products they create will be higher in quality and potentially more interesting to the reader.

Managing Content in EBSCO Discovery Service: Action guide for Surviving and T...NASIG
Since library’s implementation and promotion of EBSCO Discovery Service in 2014, our Electronic Resources team continues to troubleshoot seamless content discovery for library patrons. Nothing prepared us for the kind of content issues we have to deal on a day to day basis. This dynamic, full of real examples presentation will look at examples of managing content in EDS to improve discovery of resources: from linking issues to ClinicalKey records to dealing with “bound with” local catalog records. The presenter will address obstacles faced and solutions found and our experience working with EBSCO. Following this session, participants will be able to apply “how to” techniques to troubleshoot content issues in EBSCO Discovery Service. This session is unique and important because it outlines practical steps in troubleshooting content management in EBSCO Discovery service.

A review of paddy residue management in Malaysiashafini shafie
Rice straw and rice husks are the main residues from paddy cultivation, generated during the harvesting and milling process. Malaysia is one of the leading producers of paddy. It has gained 0.48 Million tonnes of rice husk with 3,176,593.2 tonnes production of rice straw in a year due to the emerging technological development in Agra-industry. Malaysia’s agriculture department is targeting to improve the productivity of the paddy sector from the current yield from 3 to 5 tonnes per hectare to around 8 tonnes per hectare in 2012 and 9 to 10 tonnes per hectare by 2020. If the target is achieved with 10 tonnes per hectare, the output of paddy will be increased to 6,575,474.8 tonnes per year. According to national news agency 200,000 ha idle land in Malaysia will be used for paddy plantation. This will increase to about 30% of paddy production. Parallel, to these the production of paddy residue also increases. Malaysia will face the problem regarding the paddy residue or waste management in the future. Unfortunately, the burning of rice straw remains the current cultural practice of disposal in Malaysia. Also, rice husk are being burned along the road that give the impact to the environment. Hence, the further studies are needed to identify the best practice to overcome this problem regarding the paddy residue management in the near future.

A Comparative Study of Library Web-OPAC on Different Library Management Softwarepaperpublications3
Abstract: This paper is discussed about a comparative study of library Web-OPAC on five major LMS (Library Management System) software. The ter OPAC (Online Public Access Catalogue) is an online database of materials held by a library or group of libraries. Web-OPAC is nothing but while the OPAC is accessed through a web browser over Internet. The selected five LMS software are Koha, Libsys, Alice for Windows, NewGenLib and Virtua. It focused on their Web-OPAC attributes and properties. This study describes the five LMS software to find out suitable Web-OPAC attributes by visiting the Web-OPACs of institutions / organizations where using those software. There is a table of comparative statement by putting the attributes and properties on those five software. As result, it found the major attributes which should be integrated in an efficient Web-OPAC.

Embracing GenAI - A Strategic ImperativePeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.
