This document discusses Eastern University's E-Resources and Services unit, which was established to provide access to electronic resources and online library services. With the development of ICT , a number of alternative formats
of information have been evolved.
The Internet and the Web are constantly influencing the
development of new modes of scholarly communication. eg: e-
books, e-journals, e-thesis, etc..
So, the successful operation of any library depends to a large
extent on the choice of library collections.
All libraries have experienced a tremendous shift in content
from print to electronic.

E- resources are more popular , because…
 Easy access – any time , any where
 Speed access - possible to search information in
considerably less time
 Flexibility - allowed a greater number of access points and
possible to search for complex combinations of terms
 Range - allowed access to a wide range of information
without having to move from the terminal
 Updated - Online databases were usually updated more
frequently
