• Levice is a historical city
• It is the capital of the Levice district
which is the largest district in Slovakia
at 1,551 square kilometres
• The town's heraldic animal is lion (in
Slovak lev)
• The town's colours are green and
yellow.

• Levice was first mentioned as
Leua
• One of the villages belonging
to the parish of St. Martin's
Church was Bratka
• First attacked by the Turks in
1544
• the town was set on fire while
the castle was left unharmed

4. Intresting facts
• There is a jewish
synagogue in the city
centre
• Now it serves for
exhibitions and cultural
purposes
• One of the most
interesting sights is the
Observatory of Tekov

• Our castle is the only one in Slovakia
that was built on a plain
• There are many historical buildings in
the area of the castle
• You can visit the Museum of Tekov
