Understanding the meaning in short of functional text and simple monologue text in
the form of a recount, narrative, and procedure
2. Basic Competence
Responding to the meaning in a simple of monologue text using a variety of oral
language accurately, fluently, acceptable in context of recount, narrative, and
procedure in various contexts in everyday life
3. Indicators
To be able to respond a monologue procedure to demonstrate skills such as:
 Guessing the meaning of words in context

The Definition of Procedure Text
Procedure text is a text that is designed to describe how something is achieved
through a sequence of actions or steps. It explains how people perform different
processes in a sequence of steps. This text uses simple present tense, often imperative
sentences. It also uses the temporal conjunction such as first, second, then, next,
finally, etc.
Purpose of a Procedure Text
An anticipated outcome that is intended or that guides your planned actions. A
particular course of action intended to achieve a result.
The Generic Structures of Procedure Text are:
 Goal/aim (or title)
 Materials (not required for all procedural texts)
 Steps (the actions that must be taken)
Language Features of Procedure Text
In the Procedure Text, we use SIMPLE PRESENT TENSE and:
 Use of imperatives
 Use of action verbs
 Use of connectives
 Use of adverbial phrases

2) In the first times you will listens the procedure text. As you listen to each one, answer
the questions in your answer sheet number 1-5.
3) In the second times you will listen again. Try to answer number 6-10.
4) Before you begin to listen, read the questions quickly and get familiar with the
questions.

Want to make a simple dessert for your party? Try this caramel pudding.
You only need to prepare four eggs, 200 cc of milk, 200 grams of sugar, and half
tablespoon of vanilla.
First of all, you have to melt 100 grams of sugar so it becomes caramelized, and then
pour it into a Pyrex disc.
Second, mix the eggs, milk, and another 100 grams of sugar and also vanilla. Stir them
for a while using a fork.
At the end, pour the mixture into the Pyrex disc and steam it for about 45 minutes.

The Definition of Procedure Text
Procedure text is a text that is designed to describe how something is achieved through a
sequence of actions or steps. It explains how people perform different processes in a
sequence of steps. This text uses simple present tense, often imperative sentences. It also uses
the temporal conjunction such as first, second, then, next, finally, etc.
Language Features of Procedure Text
In the Procedure Text, we use SIMPLE PRESENT TENSE and:
 Use of imperatives (e.g. cut, don’t mix)
 Use of action verbs (e.g. turn, put, mix)
 Use of connectives (e.g. first, then, finally, …)
 Use of adverbial phrases (e.g. for five minutes, 2 centimeters from the top)
Generic Structure of Procedure
1. Goal
It is containt the purpose of the text. (e.g: How to make spagheti)
2. Material
It is containt of the materials that used in the process. (e.g: the material to cook omelette
are egg,onion, vegetable oil,etc)
3. Step
It is containt of the steps to make something in the goal. (e.g: first, wash the tomatoes,
onion,……., second cut the onions becomes slice. . . )
Purpose of a Procedure Text
An anticipated outcome that is intended or that guides your planned actions. A particular
course of action intended to achieve a result. Or To help us do a task or make something.
They can be a set of instructions or directions.
Example of Procedure:
How to make a sandwich (aim/goal)
You need (materials)
* 2 slices of bread
* peanut butter
* a banana
* honey
What you should do are : (steps)
* Take two slices of bread
* Spread peanut butter
* Cut up a banana onto small slices and
put them on one of the slices
* Pour some honey over the bananas

Pertama-tama Anda harus mencairkan 100 gram gula sehingga menjadi karamel, dan

  • 1. LESSONS PLAN School : SMA Negeri 11 Samarinda Subject : English Grade/Semester : X A-D/ 2 Theme : Procedure (Listening Skill) Meeting : 3 Time Allotment : 2 x 45 minutes 1. Standard of Competence Understanding the meaning in short of functional text and simple monologue text in the form of a recount, narrative, and procedure 2. Basic Competence Responding to the meaning in a simple of monologue text using a variety of oral language accurately, fluently, acceptable in context of recount, narrative, and procedure in various contexts in everyday life 3. Indicators To be able to respond a monologue procedure to demonstrate skills such as:  Guessing the meaning of words in context 4. Instructional Objectivities At the end of the sessions the students are able to:  Guessing the meaning of words in context 5. Character Development  Communicative  Appreciative  Creative  Confident 6. Instructional Material The Definition of Procedure Text Procedure text is a text that is designed to describe how something is achieved through a sequence of actions or steps. It explains how people perform different processes in a sequence of steps. This text uses simple present tense, often imperative sentences. It also uses the temporal conjunction such as first, second, then, next, finally, etc. Purpose of a Procedure Text An anticipated outcome that is intended or that guides your planned actions. A particular course of action intended to achieve a result.

The Generic Structures of Procedure Text are:  Goal/aim (or title)  Materials (not required for all procedural texts)  Steps (the actions that must be taken) Language Features of Procedure Text In the Procedure Text, we use SIMPLE PRESENT TENSE and:  Use of imperatives  Use of action verbs  Use of connectives  Use of adverbial phrases 7. Time Allotment: 2 x 45 minutes 8. Teaching Methods/Techniques : Three-Phase Technique 9. Teaching and Learning Activities No. Activities Teacher (T) Students (S) Time 1. Opening - Greeting students - Asking one of the student start to pray - Asking who absent today - Responding to the teacher greeting - Lead other students to pray together - Respond to the teacher question 10 minutes 2. Exploration - Giving stimulation about definition, purpose, structure, and langue features of procedure text - Introduce new vocabulary to use in describing - Respond to the teacher stimulation - Paying attention the teacher explanation 15 minutes

Elaboration - Giving example of procedure in slide - Involve students to interaction to teacher or students in class - Teacher asks students are doing assignment in group (consist of 5 students each group) - Paying attention the teacher - Giving the opportunities to student to active in class - The student are doing assignment given by teacher 45 minutes c. Confirmation Give the positive feedback to the student Students are responding the teacher’s feedback 10 minutes 3. Closing Teacher make conclusion from the material Paying attention and making the conclusion with teacher 10 minutes 10.   • 4. Assessment I a. Indicator : To be able to guess the meaning of words in context Technique : Written Form : Essays b. Instrument 1) There are 10 questions. Answer all the questions 2) In the first times you will listens the procedure text. As you listen to each one, answer the questions in your answer sheet number 1-5. 3) In the second times you will listen again. Try to answer number 6-10. 4) Before you begin to listen, read the questions quickly and get familiar with the questions. c. Answer Sheet Transcript: Want to make a simple dessert for your party? Try this caramel pudding. You only need to prepare four eggs, 200 cc of milk, 200 grams of sugar, and half tablespoon of vanilla. First of all, you have to melt 100 grams of sugar so it becomes caramelized, and then pour it into a Pyrex disc. Second, mix the eggs, milk, and another 100 grams of sugar and also vanilla. Stir them for a while using a fork. At the end, pour the mixture into the Pyrex disc and steam it for about 45 minutes. Listen to the procedure text carefully and choose the best response, a, b, c, or d 1) What will they make for the party later? a. Camel Pudding b. Caramel Pudding c. Caramelize Pudding d.   • 8. Procedure Text The Definition of Procedure Text Procedure text is a text that is designed to describe how something is achieved through a sequence of actions or steps. It explains how people perform different processes in a sequence of steps. This text uses simple present tense, often imperative sentences. Goal It is containt the purpose of the text. (e.g: How to make spagheti) 2. Material It is containt of the materials that used in the process. (e.g: the material to cook omelette are egg,onion, vegetable oil,etc) 3. Step It is containt of the steps to make something in the goal. (e.g: first, wash the tomatoes, onion,……., second cut the onions becomes slice. . . ) Purpose of a Procedure Text An anticipated outcome that is intended or that guides your planned actions. A particular course of action intended to achieve a result. Or To help us do a task or make something. They can be a set of instructions or directions.
