Topic: Third person singular with verb “Like”.
Aim: To develop and practice:
 Vocabulary: likes/doesn't like, actions (running, swimming, drawing, etc.),
objects/food (pizza, hamburgers, kite, pool, ice cream, broccoli, etc.).
 Structures: present simple in third personsingular.
 Skills: speaking, listening and writing.
Age: primary 9-10
Time: 45 minutes.
Materials:
✦ Photocopies.
✦ Whiteboard and markers.
✦ Music player and audios.
Introduction:
In this lesson we will be working with the simple present in third person singular with
the verb LIKE. We’ll be playing a mimic game so as to warm up the topic. Then,
learners will have to complete some sentences in a photocopythat we will provide
them. Finally they will have to listen to a song in order to complete a chart by ticking
or crossing what the speaker said she/he likes.
Procedure:
1- Recovering the topic (5-10mins): To begin with this class, we will play a
mimic game in which we will represent an action from a student (the rest of the class
will not know what this action is) that He / She likes or doesn’tlike (E.g. Represent
“She/He doesn’tlike reading”). Then, the students should raise their hands to try to
guess the action. The expected answer would be “She/He doesn’tlike reading”). This
warm up activity should prepare the students’ mind for the next activities.
2- Writing activity (10 - 15mins): In this activity, we will give the pupils a
photocopywith 8 incomplete sentences in which they will have to complete them
according to what they see in the pictures. The photocopywill consistof two pictures
of a girl and a boy, around these pictures there will be actions or objects with a tick or
a cross in order to represent what they like and don’tlike.

3- Listening comprehension(15-20 mins): To finish with this class, we will be
doing a listening comprehension activity, in which our students will listen to a song (
https://youtu.be/frN3nvhIHUk ). Then we will give them another photocopy
containing a chart with a list of things present in the audio, the activity will consist of
ticking or crossing the things that each speaker likes or doesn’tlike. With this activity
we intend to give an end to the topic.
