T. asks ss to get themselves 
into pairs and then they have 
one minute to think about the 
name as of different type of 
food as possible. 
Eg: T. Can you tell me the name 
of a food? 
SS name the type of 
food they know. 
Eg: * Rice 
* Pasta 
* Salad 
* Hamburgers 
* Pumpkin

PRESENTATION

T. introduces the topic “Like/I 
don’t like” 
T. asks ss “Do you like eggs”? 
T. writes on board while 
explains in L1 and helps 
herself/himself with gestures. 
Eg: T. Do you/they/we/I like

Yes I do - No I don’t 
Yes he does - No he doesn’t 
SS answer the 
questions and talk 
about types of food they 
wrote. 
Eg: * I like Ice-cream.

2-5 T asks SS to think about what 
kind of food they like and which 
they do not.

Which one don’t you like? 
SS write the name of 
food they like the most 
and the one they don’t

PRACTICE T asks SS to write the right 
sentence according to the 
images of food that are shown 
in the copies and which symbol 
(v-x) do they have next to the 
picture, then they have to write 
the same kind of sentences 
according to their own likes, 
finally they have to ask to their 
friends that are sitting next to 
them about their likes. (Picture 
2)

exercise using like - likes/don’t - 
doesn’t like. 
SS students do the 
exercise. 
Eg: SS: Penny likes rice.

PRODUCTION T gives SS a sheet that contains 
ten sentences in halves but 
mixed among them. The 
SS play the game. Copies. 
Flashcards or 
cards. 
Pair work. 
Group Work.

sentences cover different 
phrases for talking about likes 
and dislikes. 
T gives each pair a set of 
mixed up cards and tell them 
they have to arrange the cards 
into 10 
sentences about likes and 
dislikes. 
Each pair reads out one 
sentence. 
T says whether it is right or 
wrong. 
If it is right, the sentence can be 
discarded and turned over. 
The pair gets 1 point for each 
correct answer. 
If the sentence is wrong, the 
pair gets no points and, without 
giving the correct answer, the 
T moves on to the next pair of 
students. 
Continue until all the sentences 
have been correctly read out.

CLASS PLANNING SCHOOL: ------------------------------ TEACHER: -------------------- AGE: 7-12 Years old TEACHER TRAINEE: ------------ UNIT GOAL: I like/I don’t like OBJECTIVES: to learn the verb “like” CHARACTER OF THE LESSON: warming up, presentation, practice and production ANTICIPATED PROBLEMS: ss might find difficulties in the usage of like in third person STAGES WHAT THE TEACHER SAYS AND DOES WHAT THE STUDENTS SAY AND DO MATERIALS GRUPING TIME 1.WARM-UP T. asks ss to get themselves into pairs and then they have one minute to think about the name as of different type of food as possible. Eg: T. Can you tell me the name of a food? SS name the type of food they know. Eg: * Rice * Pasta * Salad * Hamburgers * Pumpkin Flashcard and course book Pair work 5’ PRESENTATION 2-1 T. introduces the topic “Like/I don’t like” T. asks ss “Do you like eggs”? T. writes on board while explains in L1 and helps herself/himself with gestures. Eg: T. Do you/they/we/I like ______? Does he/se like ______? Yes I do - No I don’t Yes he does - No he doesn’t SS answer the questions and talk about types of food they wrote. Eg: * I like Ice-cream. * Lucy doesn’t like pizza. Course book I. W. 7’ 2-2 T reads the dialogue (Picture 1) “Do you like…?” They have in the course book. T. asks SS to listen and repeat the dialogue Eg: T: Thiago and Uma listen and repeat the dialogue. SS listen and repeat the dialogue working in pairs. Eg: Luka: Do you like rice? Vanellope: Yes, I do. Course book Pair work 3’
  • 2. 2-3 T. shows a big poster with different types of food like Healthy food, Fast food, Seafood, Junk food, Meats, Vegetables, Fruits, etc. Eg: T: Do you like Healthy food? SS talk about the picture to be designated. Eg: Chrissie: I like vegetables. Poster I.W. 15’ 2-4 T. writes the new vocabulary on board. T. encourages SS to listen and repeat the new vocabulary altogether. Eg: T: please repeat after me. “I don’t like sausages” SS listen and repeat the new vocabulary. Eg: Alma: I don’t like Ice-Cream. Poster I.W 5’ 2-5 T asks SS to think about what kind of food they like and which they do not. Eg: T: What do you like? Which one don’t you like? SS write the name of food they like the most and the one they don’t like at all. Eg: SS: I like Pizza. I don’t like Tomatoes Course book I.W. 5’ PRACTICE T asks SS to write the right sentence according to the images of food that are shown in the copies and which symbol (v-x) do they have next to the picture, then they have to write the same kind of sentences according to their own likes, finally they have to ask to their friends that are sitting next to them about their likes. (Picture 2) Eg: T: complete the following exercise using like - likes/don’t - doesn’t like. SS students do the exercise. Eg: SS: Penny likes rice. Mirko doesn’t like pizza. Jimmy likes orange. Charles: I don’t like hamburger. (Charles about his friend, Valery): Valery likes Chocolate. Copies I.W. / Pair work 20’ PRODUCTION T gives SS a sheet that contains ten sentences in halves but mixed among them. The SS play the game. Copies. Flashcards or cards. Pair work. Group Work. 20’
  • 3. sentences cover different phrases for talking about likes and dislikes. T gives each pair a set of mixed up cards and tell them they have to arrange the cards into 10 sentences about likes and dislikes. Each pair reads out one sentence. T says whether it is right or wrong. If it is right, the sentence can be discarded and turned over. The pair gets 1 point for each correct answer. If the sentence is wrong, the pair gets no points and, without giving the correct answer, the T moves on to the next pair of students. Continue until all the sentences have been correctly read out.
