The students greet the teacher with a rhyme. It takes her some
minutes of the class to install the projector and computer. They
wanted to use the video room but they couldn´t , it was occupied by
the art teacher. So, they had to move all the technological equipment
from one classroom to the other. Suggestion: you can start
preparing all the gadgets some minutes before the class starts.
She sticks a poster on the wall. As the projector doesn´t work,
Agustina starts delivering the test (they are already corrected) and
some presents for the kids, because it is her last class as a trainee
teacher.
When the projector is ready, Agustina gives all the instructions in
English (very good!!! Improved! And the students understand
perfectly well. She asks them to sit down in a firm way.
She has good rapport with students, she is very sweet and treat them
kindly.
She plays the video without introducing new vocabulary.
Suggestion: you may use the poster and the pictures you have on
the board to make some predictions about the video, this helps a lot
to better understanding.
One student says “proteínas!” and Agustina says “Yes, proteins, very
good!” well done, Agus, this is what you have to do, you have to
repeat in English, what they say in Spanish, and try to use it as much
as possible in class, you are the person who can give them the input
they need to acquire the language.
After some minutes, she stops the video and asks for some questions
to check understanding.
Manuela explains the second activity (this was a bit confusing
because the teacher in charge of the classroom was Agustina). She
gives the instructions and walks around the tables to see if they are
working, and she is worried about the time, so she hurries them up.
This is a bit confusing, who is the teacher and who is the pedagogical
pair? Suggestion: try not to overlap roles. Otherwise, it is detrimental
to your job.
They could not finish this activity, Agustina told them that they are
going to finish it next class.
Suggestion: it is very important to be aware of time, you need to
know how much time you have to do a certain activity and to finish it.
In the case, you realize that you do not have enough time to do it
completely, you can rearrange it and modify it during its
implementation.
As pedagogical partner: she helped Manuela a lot, she intervened
when two boys were fighting and she called Kevin´s attention firmly
because he was misbehaving. She also gave the instructions for the
second activity in Manuela´s class. Although teaching in the
partner´s class is not correct, she did it because Manuela took the
teacher´s role in Agustina´s class. We just talked about overlapping
roles after the class.
I could observe that you improved after our feedbacks, you could use
English during classes and you could find balance between the use of
both languages in class. Well done!!

ETA MA John Brakke. REGISTRO: ALUMNA RESIDENTE: Agustina Sarmiento COLEGIO: Escuela 4. 5th Year. DOCENTE CO-FORMADORA: Ana Gomez Fecha: 06/09/2017 The students greet the teacher with a rhyme. It takes her some minutes of the class to install the projector and computer. They wanted to use the video room but they couldn´t , it was occupied by the art teacher. So, they had to move all the technological equipment from one classroom to the other. Suggestion: you can start preparing all the gadgets some minutes before the class starts. She sticks a poster on the wall. As the projector doesn´t work, Agustina starts delivering the test (they are already corrected) and some presents for the kids, because it is her last class as a trainee teacher. When the projector is ready, Agustina gives all the instructions in English (very good!!! Improved! And the students understand perfectly well. She asks them to sit down in a firm way.
  • 2. She has good rapport with students, she is very sweet and treat them kindly. She plays the video without introducing new vocabulary. Suggestion: you may use the poster and the pictures you have on the board to make some predictions about the video, this helps a lot to better understanding. One student says “proteínas!” and Agustina says “Yes, proteins, very good!” well done, Agus, this is what you have to do, you have to repeat in English, what they say in Spanish, and try to use it as much as possible in class, you are the person who can give them the input they need to acquire the language. After some minutes, she stops the video and asks for some questions to check understanding. Manuela explains the second activity (this was a bit confusing because the teacher in charge of the classroom was Agustina). She gives the instructions and walks around the tables to see if they are working, and she is worried about the time, so she hurries them up. This is a bit confusing, who is the teacher and who is the pedagogical pair? Suggestion: try not to overlap roles. Otherwise, it is detrimental to your job. They could not finish this activity, Agustina told them that they are going to finish it next class. Suggestion: it is very important to be aware of time, you need to know how much time you have to do a certain activity and to finish it. In the case, you realize that you do not have enough time to do it completely, you can rearrange it and modify it during its implementation. As pedagogical partner: she helped Manuela a lot, she intervened when two boys were fighting and she called Kevin´s attention firmly
  • 3. because he was misbehaving. She also gave the instructions for the second activity in Manuela´s class. Although teaching in the partner´s class is not correct, she did it because Manuela took the teacher´s role in Agustina´s class. We just talked about overlapping roles after the class.
