This is a presentation by Dada Robert in a Your Skill Boost masterclass organised by the Excellence Foundation for South Sudan (EFSS) on Saturday, the 25th and Sunday, the 26th of May 2024.
He discussed the concept of quality improvement, emphasizing its applicability to various aspects of life, including personal, project, and program improvements. He defined quality as doing the right thing at the right time in the right way to achieve the best possible results and discussed the concept of the "gap" between what we know and what we do, and how this gap represents the areas we need to improve. He explained the scientific approach to quality improvement, which involves systematic performance analysis, testing and learning, and implementing change ideas. He also highlighted the importance of client focus and a team approach to quality improvement.

The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

REGISTRO:
ALUMNA RESIDENTE: Ana Morán
COLEGIO: Escuela 4. 6th Year.
DOCENTE CO-FORMADORA: Romina Cheme
Fecha: 07/09/2017
There are 23 students.
Ana starts the lesson greeting all the students. Some helpers deliver
the badges. Romina interferes in the class because she needs to talk
with all the students about a violent situation that occurred in the
backyard. All of them pay attention.
Before giving the first instructions, Ana congratulates the students for
the prize they received in Feria de Ciencias. This is an excellent
comment because it shows that you are concerned about the things
that happened in the school. Well done!!!!
Then, Ana gives the instructions for the first activity but it is not clear
what they have to do, they ask her what they are supposed to do and
I think that they do not understand the correct meaning of MUST and
MUSTN´T. As Ana shows a picture with the word MUST and a and
the Word MUSTN´T and a X symbol, they think that they mean
“correct” and “incorrect”, “está bien “ o “está mal”. Even more, when
2. Ana explains their meaning, she says: “lo que pueden o no pueden
hacer” so, I think that the explanations are not clear enough to teach
them their real meaning.
Ana says that the activity is to be solved in pairs but she gives a picture
each, different ones, so each student works with his/her own picture,
and then, they correct the activity individually too. (each student went
to the board and stuck it individually). Suggestion: although it is an
excellent TPR activity, next time, you can give one picture per pair of
students, so in this way, they will work together.
While the students are telling the teacher the answer, for example “we
mustn´t throw trash in our classroom”, the teacher asks “escucharon?”
but she never repeats the phrase. Suggestion: you may ask that in
English and then, repeat the phrase, because I am sure they did not
listen to all the sentences because I was sitting at the back and I could
not listen to them. And you can also write the phrases on the board
because some expressions are new for them. For example: “we must
try our best”. This is new for them, so it is not enough that you just
read it aloud, it is necessary to write it on the board. Although it is
written in the picture they stuck on the poster, that letters are too small
to be read from all their places.
She asks them “what´s the meaning of polite”? and she writes the
word on the board. Well done, they need visual support to learn new
vocabulary.
While the students are working, Ana walks around the desks to see if
they are working or if they need some help. Very good. She also shows
empathy with all the students, she usually smiles while they are talking
to her, this is very nice!!!
She asks for silence when it is necessary, she can manage the group
very well.
3. She also uses some gestures while she is explaining the meaning of
some sentences.
They cannot finish the activity because the bell rings. Suggestion:
timing is very important, feel free to modify any activity you planned
in order to speed up the checking part or any other part of the activity
in order to finish it in the same class. You need to be aware of the time
in order to round up the class.
As pedagogical partner: you helped Valentina a lot, during the whole
class. You had an excellent role, you intervened when it was necessary
without overlapping roles. Well done!
