Learning objectives : By the end of the lesson, students will be able to
a) Understand and respond to oral texts in a variety of contexts.
b) Recognize different types and descriptions of different insects.

Steps/ Time Content Teaching and Learning Strategies Remarks
Set induction
(5 minutes) Some possible questions that will be ask:
 What types of insects do you know?
 What kind of insects you usually found at your
house?
1. Teacher asks pupils about insects.
2. Introduce the topic to the pupils.
Presentation
(15 minutes) Difficult words for the pupils:
1. Thorax
2. Head
3. Abdomen
4. Antennae
5. Compound eye
6. Jointed leg
1. Teacher shows parts of insect on
the LCD screen
2. Teacher explains to the pupils
about parts of insects through the
LCD screen.
3. Teacher also explains some difficult
words to the pupils during the
explanations.
Materials:
1. LCD screen
Refer to Appendix A
Practice
(20 minutes) 1. Labelling activity 1. Teacher shows a picture of insect
without its parts labelled.
2. Pupils need to put the label on the
screen on the correct parts of the
insect correctly.
3. Teacher will called out random pupils
to come to front and label the parts of
insect correctly.
4. Then, they need to read and spell the
word while the other pupils follow.
5. Teacher will guide them through all this
activity.
Material:
1. LCD screen

Production
(10 minutes)
Answering the worksheet.
1. Teacher spread the worksheet to
the pupils.
2. Teacher explains the worksheet to
the pupils.
3. Teacher monitors and guide pupils
while they are doing the worksheet.
4. Teacher discusses the answer with

Closure
(10 minutes) Conclusion 1. Teacher revises on what the pupils
had learnt today.
2. Teacher revises on types of insects
and difficult words.

KSSR year 4 lesson plan listening and speaking unit 11

  • 1. English Year 4 Lesson Plan Date : 11 August 2014 Subject : English Language Class : 4 Arif Day : Sunday Time : 10.45am – 11.45am Enrolment : 29 students Level : Moderate Language Proficiency Theme : World of Knowledge Topic : The insects Investigators Focused skill : Listening & Speaking Integrated skill : Reading, Writing
  • 2. ‘ Content standards 1.1 Able to pronounce words and speak confidently with the correct stress, rhythm and intonation. Learning standards : 1.1.4 Able to talk about related topic with guidance Learning objectives : By the end of the lesson, students will be able to a) Understand and respond to oral texts in a variety of contexts. b) Recognize different types and descriptions of different insects. Educational emphases : CCTS - answering Wh-Questions Moral values - love all kinds of insects around us. Multiple intelligences - Interpersonal intelligence, linguistic intelligence Language content : Vocabulary - Description of different parts and types of the insects. Steps/ Time Content Teaching and Learning Strategies Remarks Set induction (5 minutes) Some possible questions that will be ask:  What types of insects do you know?  What kind of insects you usually found at your house? 1. Teacher asks pupils about insects. 2. Introduce the topic to the pupils.
  • 3. Presentation (15 minutes) Difficult words for the pupils: 1. Thorax 2. Head 3. Abdomen 4. Antennae 5. Compound eye 6. Jointed leg 1. Teacher shows parts of insect on the LCD screen 2. Teacher explains to the pupils about parts of insects through the LCD screen. 3. Teacher also explains some difficult words to the pupils during the explanations. Materials: 1. LCD screen Refer to Appendix A Practice (20 minutes) 1. Labelling activity 1. Teacher shows a picture of insect without its parts labelled. 2. Pupils need to put the label on the screen on the correct parts of the insect correctly. 3. Teacher will called out random pupils to come to front and label the parts of insect correctly. 4. Then, they need to read and spell the word while the other pupils follow. 5. Teacher will guide them through all this activity. Material: 1. LCD screen Refer to Appendix B Production (10 minutes) Answering the worksheet. 1. Teacher spread the worksheet to the pupils. 2. Teacher explains the worksheet to the pupils. 3. Teacher monitors and guide pupils while they are doing the worksheet. 4. Teacher discusses the answer with Material: 1. worksheet Shown in Appendix C
