• Teaching approach: The lesson is based on the TPR, and organized
through
the PPP procedure (Harmer,2010).
• Materials and resources: pictures of boys and girls, two dolls, two circles
made on paper (one blue and the other one red)
• Pedagogical use of ICT in class: In this lesson, my personal computer
will be used to support the songs.
• Seating arrangement: I will use horseshoe arrangement ( it is a small group
in
a bigger classroom) in order to facilitate visual contact and interaction with the
students. As teacher I can command the group `s attention and make a better
use of visual presentations.
• Assessment: what will be assessed and how: I’ll check that students
comprehend and identify the difference between the words boy and girl.
ROUTINE: 2 MINUTES
PURPOSE: to start the lesson, get students into the mood for work,
establish a comfortable environment
I’ll get into the classroom and greet students (as they have already known me):
“Hello! How are you today?” EA: “Hello!”
I’ll ask students to sit down and we’ll sing the usual welcome song (the same
they are used to singing with their teacher at the beginning of the lesson):
Good morning, good morning
Good Morning, Good Morning
Good morning, good morning.
How are you? How are you?
My name is… My name is…
What’s your name? What’s your name?

Transition: “Very good kids! Now, look! I have two friends who have come
with me today!” (The teacher points to the dolls- one boy- one girl)
WARM UP : 5 minutes.
PURPOSE: To introduce the topic
T: This is my doll Susan. Susan say hello (as if the doll was speaking): Hello
kids! SS: Hello Susan! Susan is a girl. I am a girl too. Then the teacher points to
one of the girls and will ask: Ana, are you a girl? SS: Yes. Then I will point to the
other doll, who is a boy. Look, this is Alan. He is a boy. Santino are you a boy?
SS: yes! Jose are you a boy? SS: Yes. Marìa, are you a boy? SS:NO!
Then the teacher takes the two dolls, and say: Susan is a ...( it is expected they
say :girl) and Alan is a...( it is expected they say: Boy).
PRESENTATION: 10 minutes
Then I will invite a girl in front of the class. I will ask the rest of their classmates:
Who is she? Students answer: she is (name). Then I will ask the girl: Are you a
boy? No! Are you a girl? Yes!. Then I will invite a boy to come to the front and
ask the same questions: Who is he? He is (name) Are you a boy? Yes!. I will
ask the same question to four or six more students.
DEVELOPMENT: 5 MINUTES
As students also work in notebooks, I will give them a set of pictures
( boys- girls) and a blue and red circle.
The teacher will say: Listen kids, you have to glue in the RED circle, the girls`
pictures and in the BLUE picture the boys` pictures. Do you understand? (it is
expected the kids say yes). I will show them an example by drawing a red and
blue circle on the board, and sticking one of the pictures.
While they are sticking the pictures, I will go through the desks observing their
performance.
( The circles will be bigger than here )
TRANSITION: Excellent work kids!
CLOSURE: 5 MINUTES
I will take the dolls again (Susan and Alan) and point them. I will say: Alan is a
boy (pointing to the doll) and Susan is a girl (pointing to the doll). Then I will
invite a boy and a girl in front of the class. I will ask the rest of their classmates:
Who is she? Students answer: she is (name) He is (name)
ENDING: 3 MINUTES
It`s time to wash your hands but before leaving, let`s sing the Goodbye song
(the same they are used to singing with their teacher)
