4. My Favorite shows I used to watch American Bandstand on Saturdays. Leave it to Beaver was adventurous Shindig! Had a lot of great music all the time.

5. Sports The first super bowl was in Jan. 15, 1967 in the Memorial Coliseum in Los Angeles, California. Green Bay Packers defeated the Kansas City Chiefs. Jackie Robinson was the first African American in Major League Baseball to be put in the Baseball Hall of Fame for his talent in 1962.

6. Inventions The first cash dispensing machine was installed by First Philadelphia Bank in 1968. In 1961, Theodore Maiman perfected the laser, used in surgery, holography, communications and printing. The first hand held calculator invented in 1967 by Texas Instruments.

7. The Vietnam War The Vietnam War started in 1960. It was a devastating time. It finally ended in 1975.

8. Style I loved the beehive hairdo. It took me forever! My favorite shoes. It was hard to walk, but they looked cool. Bell bottomed pants were totally in.

9. The Twist The Twist was a popular dance created by Chubby Checker. It was the number one song and dance for 2 years.

10. Hippies Hippies created the counterculture. They rebelled against the dominant culture in the U.S.

11. Surfing Surfing was popular, and fun. The one on top was called the Malibu zen master. Uncle Robbie took that picture. The one on the bottom was called the Mr. Beaver Trail, also taken by my uncle.

13. Cuban Missile Crisis Soviet Union was building secret missile bases in Cuba Kennedy and Khrushchev stared each other down, until Khrushchev surrendered.

16. Death of my Heroes Assassinated April 4, 1968 in Memphis, Tennessee. Assassinated Nov. 22, 1963 in Dallas, Texas.

17. Death of a great actress She was great, and my favorite actress. She died on August 5, 1962 of a drug overdose.

18. Walt Disney Walt Disney, the creator of Mickey Mouse and a Pioneer of animated films, died of cancer on December 15, 1966

20. Man on the Moon! Apollo 11 is the first man mission to land on the moon!! Astronauts were Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin. July 20, 1969
