60’s Rockers
History The rockers were motorcyclists, wearing clothes such as black leather jackets. They were one of the two conflicting groups of the mid 1960’s. Their opposing group were the Mods. The main difference between the groups were that the Mods rode scooters and tended to wear suits. The two groups caused a moral panic when they fought in 1964. They were viewed as ‘folk devils’. By the last 60’s the two groups had faded from media attention and were replaced by the ‘Hippies’ and ‘Skinheads’.
Geographical Location A lot of media attention was generated by the Rockers in Southern England.
