1.Introduction
This
final
project
marks
an
end
for
this
subject,
Introduction
to
Construction
Industry
in
FNBE
program.
As
a
requirement
stated
in
the
brief,
we
have
to
form
a
two
members’
group
to
execute
the
tasks.
We
need
to
find
a
specific
land
area,
which
is
not
exceed
30
times
30
metres
within
the
campus
area
to
initiate
a
small
construction
project.
The
project
that
we
propose
should
serves
either
one
of
the
purposes
below:
1. Recreation
area
2. Study
Enhancement
area
3. Rest
area
4. Food
and
beverage
(dining
area)
5. Commercial
area
(exclude
food
and
beverage)
Based
on
the
tasks
given,
we
have
to
study
the
types
of
building
development
that
including
suggestions
of
the
construction
project,
rationale,
its
benefits,
site
analysis,
evaluation
and
the
needs
of
the
project
to
the
client
and
to
the
community.
Besides,
we
are
also
have
to
study
and
find
out
the
building
approval
process
and
its
procedures.
After
gather
all
the
information
and
ideas,
we
are
required
to
compose
them
into
a
A4
size
bounded
report
with
minimum
20
pages.
After
some
discussion,
Yu
Xian
and
I
(Pui
San)
are
agreed
to
propose
a
recreation
area
within
the
campus.
Then,
we
have
a
campus
tour
and
eventually
both
of
us
are
agreed
on
the
same
site
that
is
the
best
place
for
our
project.
Starting
off
the
project,
different
research
topics
and
tasks
have
distributed
fairly
between
both
of
us.
In
order
to
fulfill
the
requirements
and
submit
the
proposal
on
the
deadline,
we
have
to
work
separately.
Yu
Xian
is
in
charge
on
finding
the
approval
form
and
making
a
bill
of
quantities,
while
I
am
in
charge
of
the
documentation
and
others
left.

2.Site
Analysis
We
choose
the
site
at
the
promenade
by
the
lakeside
because
it
serves
a
bigger
space
for
us
to
do
a
construction
project.
Our
site
is
start
from
the
back
of
block
C
to
the
end
of
block
E
beside
the
lake.
Originally,
it
is
an
area
that
covered
with
concrete
promenade.
Tables
and
chairs
are
provided
here
with
canopy
umbrella
to
create
a
resting
area
for
students
and
lecturers.
From
our
point
of
view,
this
area
has
less
visitors
because
of
its
current
location
and
lack
of
attraction.
In
order
to
activate
the
space,
we
are
going
to
propose
a
recreational
area
within
the
site
by
adding
some
greenery
features
and
function
within
the
site
and
on
the
lake.

3.Introduction
to
Recreational
Area
Recreational
area
means
the
use
of
land
and
water
resources
for
rest,
relaxation
and
recuperation,
including
a
variety
of
sports
and
other
activities
on
public
and
private
lands
so
designated
for
that
purpose;
including
parks,
cottage
subdivisions,
high-‐density,
non-‐sewer
residential
areas,
intensive
recreational
land
use,
ski
slopes
and
recreational
beaches.
Recreational
areas
would
also
include
land
that
is
designed,
constructed,
designated,
or
used
for
recreational
activities.
Examples
are
national,
state,
county,
or
city
parks,
other
outdoor
recreational
areas
such
as
golf
courses
or
swimming
pools
and
bodies
of
waters
(oceans,
lakes,
rivers,
and
streams)
when
used
by
the
public
for
fishing,
swimming,
or
boating.
Public
and
private
areas
that
are
predictably
used
for
hunting,
fishing,
bird
watching,
bike
riding,
hiking,
or
camping
or
other
recreational
use
also
would
be
considered
recreational
areas.

After
we
study
about
what
is
recreational
area,
we
then
import
some
basic
idea
into
our
own
recreational
area.
Our
recreational
area
is
a
combination
of
small
garden
with
recreational
activities
and
study
area.
For
our
garden
we
use
the
Japanese
Zen
Garden
concept
and
we
import
the
fishing
and
boating
activity
into
our
area.
We
try
to
make
our
area
relaxing
but
people
still
can
have
fun
in
it.
Besides
that
our
study
area
will
give
a
relaxing
environment
for
people
to
stay
away
from
noise
while
study.
Our
study
area
will
use
garden
circular
seating
because
this
type
of
seating
will
be
able
for
student
to
discuss
easily
and
there
will
also
a
big
umbrella
in
the
middle
of
the
table
to
avoid
bad
weather
condition.

4.Concept
The
topic
we
choose
for
our
project
is
Recreational
Area.
After
we
choose
this
topic
we
decided
to
make
our
site
with
more
relaxing
softscape.
Finally
we
choose
the
Japanese
Zen
Garden
concept.
Japanese
Zen
Garden
are
also
know
as
Japanese
Rock
Garden
because
it
creates
a
miniature
stylized
landscape
through
carefully
composed
arrangements
of
rocks,
water
features,
moss,
pruned
trees
and
bushes,
and
uses
gravel
or
sand
that
is
raked
to
represent
ripples
in
water.

Small

Cycle

The
Royal
Park
inspired
us.
It
has
the
cycle
boat
for
people
to
enjoy
the
riding
in
the
middle
of
the
lake.
Port

>

Because
our
site
is
beside
of
high
rise
building
as
also
call
as
hardscape,
so
we
decided
our
port
will
be
made
of
wood
that

more
toward
softscape.
The
cycle
boat
is
a
relaxing
activity
for
people
that
come
to
our
area.
It’s
also
a
romantic
activity
for
couple.
Besides
that
cycle
boat
doesn’t
use
any
fuel
but
only
kinetic
energy
so
it
will
not
cause
any
pollution
to
the
lake
and
the
environment.
Gazebo
Located
at
the
middle
of
the
wooden
platform
beside
the
small
port.
We
decided
to
put
a
Gazebo
is
because
it
match
our
theme
concept
Japanese.
We
also
use
Japanese
traditional
furniture
in
the
Gazebo.
Gazebo
>
Japanese
traditional
furniture
By
using
traditional
furniture
we
can
make
our
site
looks
more
attractive
because
we
combine
the
modern
and
the
traditional
style
in
one
place.
After
that,
we
have
named
our
construction
project
as
Zen-‐bo
because
half
of
the
part
is
Japanese
zen
garden
and
“bo”
just
a
simplified
of
“boating”
since
boating
area
is
the
main
purpose
and
function
in
the
garden.

Conclusion
In
shorts,
the
trend
towards
greenery
is
now
extended
in
everywhere.
As
a
campus,
more
green
spaces
should
be
provided
to
students
and
lecturers
to
relieve
their
stress
of
works
and
studies.
However,
it
is
not
enough
to
have
just
a
piece
of
green
land
that
without
any
function
and
usage.
Zen-‐bo,
is
a
brand
new
recreational
area
proposed
to
satisfy
the
demand
of
students,
where
is
a
place
to
study,
chill,
have
fun
and
exercise.
We
are
confident
to
Zen-‐bo
on
its
sustainable
and
beneficial
design,
we
are
sure
that
it
can
change
the
campus
by
activating
and
enlighten
it
to
become
a
better
study
environment.
