There are three types of verbs in Spanish:
 Verbs that end in ‐ar
 Verbs that end in ‐er
 Verbs that end in ‐ir
A verb before it is conjugated is an infinitive or un infinitivo
 Hablar = to talk
 Comer = to eat
 Vivir = to live
A verb changed to agree with the subject is conjugated or conjugado
 Hablo. = I talk.
 Comes. = You eat.
 Viven. = They live.
The conjugated ending depends on the infinitive ending (‐ar, ‐er, or ‐ir) and subject.

2. Most verbs in the present tense follow the same regular pattern of conjugation, but there are
some verbs in Spanish that break these rules. The first type of irregular verb we will look at are
verbs that have a “yo” conjugation that doesn’t correspond with this pattern.
Here are some examples of Solo Yo (Only I) Irregular:
conocer ‐ to be acquainted with hacer ‐ to do, to make
conozco conocemos hago hacemos

To help remember this pattern they are sometimes referred to as “boot verbs.”
