2. + In what ways does your media product use,
develop or challenge forms and conventions of
real media products?
The masthead has the developed conventional has
it is the biggest text on the front cover. However it
has challenged some crappy forms as the “I” of
“LIVE” has been changed to a explanation point
and the dot of the “!” had the colour changed to a
bright pink colour which contrasts to the white and
the bright blue of the background.
The Masthead Conventions
The Strapline Conventions
The strapline is very conventional, it is a
contrasting colour to the background (White to
Bright blue) and it is bold, I also added a drop
shadow to the text to make it more visible, I tried
to make the strapline look like a real media
product.
3. + In what ways does your media product use,
develop or challenge forms and conventions of
real media products?
Cover Line Conventions
The cover line is very conventional it has 4 main
stories which are the “Best” and most “interesting
in the magazine” These are what makes the reader
buy the magazine.
Headline
The headline is unconvential as the layerstyle is
different from a usual headline style. (One single
colour) I made a gradient, stroke and drop shadow
to make it deeper. So it gives a futuristic effect,
4. + In what ways does your media product use,
develop or challenge forms and conventions of
real media products?
Subheading
The subheading is very conventional it is a solid
colour and in bold text. I didn’t want to over
effect the subheading, I just wanted it to be bold
and clear.
Price line and website
The price and website address in in bold white and
capitals to make sure it is visible and clear to the
reader.
5. + In what ways does your media product use,
develop or challenge forms and conventions of
real media products?
Cover photo
The cover photo relates to the magazine and is conventional
as it a large photo covering most the front page. It relates to
the sub heading “Where have I been hiding?” as he is
covering his face so just his eyes are showing. Almost like
he is hiding. I edited the the picture to be darker and more
mysterious buy using gradients, brightness and shadow
brush.
6. + In what ways does your media product use,
develop or challenge forms and conventions of
real media products?
Masthead and title.
The Masthead is the the same design as the front cover
which doesn’t challenge conventions at all as it has a
running logo. The title “CONTENTS” has a glitch design.
This challenges conventions as the norm is to have a bold
single colour title. I choose to do this so my contents page
would stand out and appeal to the younger audience as it
has bright colours.
7. + In what ways does your media product use,
develop or challenge forms and conventions of
real media products?
Main photo and caption
This challenges and at the same goes
along with real media conventions as
it has the photo and caption
underneath however the style of the
text and box is different. I carried on
the glitch theme with bright colours
with the sub title text.
8. + In what ways does your media product use,
develop or challenge forms and conventions of
real media products?
Inset image (photo 2 of 4)
The inset photo conforms and does not
challenge conventions as it generic to
a real media product. The picture it’s
self is quirky and different as it is a
stone island bag on someone's head
and the picture relates to the caption
as it gives information about the
article on stone island. I decided to not
edit the image as I wanted a clean
presentation when It came to the
photos. How ever I added an rgb spit
on the box outline. To add a glitch
affect and to keep with the futuristic
theme.
9. + In what ways does your media product use,
develop or challenge forms and conventions of
real media products?
Inset image (photo 4 of 5)
The inset image does not conform to
real media conventions, it challenges
it. The photo is aged and I edited in 3
love hearts around my head to add a
somewhat quirky atheistic. The
caption relates to the photo as it refers
to my outfit wearing a 3m coat and
nike cap.(Gully, check the word bank).
10. + In what ways does your media product use,
develop or challenge forms and conventions of
real media products?
Inset image (photo 5 of 5)
The inset image is very conventional as it
is a clean unedited photo which is looks
like part of the a photo shoot. In the image
the model is off guard which adds variety
in the contents page and magazine as the
majority of the photos are the models
posing. This can also be taken as the
model the “dj skapes” is just as normal as
the the reader.
11. + In what ways does your media product use,
develop or challenge forms and conventions of
real media products?
Free Burger Voucher
The free burger voucher conforms to real
media products as often in magazines for
example there is an extra which is used to
entice the reader to buy. Whether this is a
free cd, poster, sticker or voucher. These
extras give the potential buyer the
incentive to fully purchase. The voucher
fits the theme of the contents page as the
text and the outline has an rgb effect like
the text and outline boxes have.
12. + In what ways does your media product use,
develop or challenge forms and conventions of
real media products?
Genre specific language
I used genre spefic language on the text as I feel it would
appear more to my audience and challenge media
conventions. The audience would see the type of words be
used for example gully and be enticed as it is different than
other magazines.
