lifecycle function within a company dealing with:
planning,
forecasting
production
marketing of a product or products at all stages
of the product lifecycle.
is a structured stage by
stage sequential approach
where each particular bit of
work to complete the
initiative is done in phases.
THERE ARE DIFFERENT
APPROACHES TO
PRODUCT MANAGEMENT
Lifecycle
is an iterative type approach
where phases needed to
complete a project are
generally done in parallel
together.
is a disciplined, data-driven
approach and methodology
for eliminating defects in
any process.
is an approach that
supports the concept of
continuous improvement to
achieve small, incremental
changes in processes

PROS AND CONS OF WATERFALL
Easy forwards /
backwards planning
and implementation. 
Tangible output at the
end of each stage.
This produces better
visibility and provides
a baseline to move
forward. 
Ability to visually see
and communicate a
target delivery.
Change in scope can
seriously impact
time/cost/quality.
If tasks aren't done
properly in each phase
at a later stage, the
entire project can be
severely impacted.
If the project has
internal or external
dependencies, delays
can occur as the "plan"
has already been
written.
Therefore, this makes the
waterfall model a good fit for
smaller open source projects
using Magento, Joomla,
WordPress (where the
requirements can be clearly
defined upfront), but not for
Custom Programming
requirements where the
business needs are
constantly changing.
Combining is
important!
The biggest drawback with
this model is that once a
phase is completed, there is
no going back. The only
option if one wants to go
back to a previous phase in
the life cycle is by going back
to the drawing board and
designing from scratch.

to be solved and then developing a minimum
viable product (MVP) to begin the process of
learning as quickly as possible.

  • 3. WHAT IS PRODUCT MANAGEMENT? Marketing Principles Social Media Online Marketing Product management is an organizational lifecycle function within a company dealing with: planning, forecasting production marketing of a product or products at all stages of the product lifecycle.
  • 4. is a structured stage by stage sequential approach where each particular bit of work to complete the initiative is done in phases. THERE ARE DIFFERENT APPROACHES TO PRODUCT MANAGEMENT Lifecycle is an iterative type approach where phases needed to complete a project are generally done in parallel together. is a disciplined, data-driven approach and methodology for eliminating defects in any process. is an approach that supports the concept of continuous improvement to achieve small, incremental changes in processes Waterfall Agile 6 Sigma Lean W W W .   • 5. PROS AND CONS OF WATERFALL Easy forwards / backwards planning and implementation.  Tangible output at the end of each stage. This produces better visibility and provides a baseline to move forward.  Ability to visually see and communicate a target delivery. Change in scope can seriously impact time/cost/quality. If tasks aren't done properly in each phase at a later stage, the entire project can be severely impacted. If the project has internal or external dependencies, delays can occur as the "plan" has already been written.

Therefore, this makes the waterfall model a good fit for smaller open source projects using Magento, Joomla, WordPress (where the requirements can be clearly defined upfront), but not for Custom Programming requirements where the business needs are constantly changing. Combining is important! The biggest drawback with this model is that once a phase is completed, there is no going back. The only option if one wants to go back to a previous phase in the life cycle is by going back to the drawing board and designing from scratch. PRACTICAL APPLICATION OF WATERFALL Up to the project

Planning can be sometimes be dubious. Time and efforts will be continually required from product resources. Given its unique and alternative approach, on occasion resistance is common so training and education is needed Constant team involvement and structured communication channels

It targets Variation in the processes and focuses on the process improvement. It gives emphasis on the rigidity of the process which basically contradicts the innovation and kills the creativity. Its implementation constantly requires skilled man force. there are lot to real time barriers which needs to be resolved.

CASES A large global manufacturing organisation As a result: - rapid process improvement from a range of key elements across the organisation - using statistical tools and data as a base for analysis and a disciplined, logical approach, enabled decision- takers to improve their understanding of critical business and operational processes - more than 200 staff have been trained as 'belts' and are leading the initiative - Each project is completed in six months or less to bring a sharper focus and to ensure measurable results can be identified and sustained. By establishing clear communication and addressing WIIFM + introducing software = success Users are more positive about dealing with a big a number of features after dealing with an MVP of the product. Those who have invested their time to help a startup, would be more likely to become early customers.
