Leadership College Essays
Crafting an essay on the subject of "Leadership in College" can be both challenging and
rewarding. The difficulty lies in the multifaceted nature of leadership, as it encompasses a wide
range of qualities, skills, and experiences. The task requires not only a comprehensive
understanding of leadership theories but also the ability to reflect on personal experiences and
connect them to broader concepts.
One of the challenges is striking the right balance between showcasing one's own leadership
experiences and incorporating relevant theoretical frameworks. It's crucial to avoid a mere
enumeration of accomplishments and instead delve into the impact and lessons learned from
those experiences. Additionally, demonstrating humility while highlighting leadership skills can
be a delicate balance to maintain.
Furthermore, ensuring originality in the essay is vital. The topic of leadership is commonly
explored, and admissions officers may come across numerous essays addressing similar themes.
Thus, finding a unique angle or perspective that sets your essay apart becomes a crucial aspect of
the writing process.
Researching and integrating relevant literature on leadership adds another layer of complexity.
Drawing upon established leadership theories and models can provide a solid foundation, but
synthesizing this information with personal experiences requires finesse.
Moreover, the challenge lies in adhering to word limits while still covering all essential aspects.
Every sentence must contribute meaningfully to the overall narrative, making each word choice
critical. Striking the right tone – one that is authentic, reflective, and showcases personal
growth – is yet another dimension to consider.
In conclusion, while composing an essay on leadership for college applications can be
demanding, it offers an opportunity for self-reflection and self-expression. The ability to
articulate one's leadership journey effectively is an invaluable skill in itself. However, it's
important to remember that similar essays, as well as assistance in crafting them, can be found on
platforms like HelpWriting.net for those seeking additional guidance or examples.

Jrotc Program History
There are little changes that had happened to the JROTC program since it had
been established in 1819 by Captain Alden Partridge. (U1C1L2 student textbook)
Though JROTC program is very old, its history is filled with rich facts that makes
JROTC an amazing program. One hundred years of JROTC from when it was

JROTC was established in 1819 by Alden Partridge in Norwich, Vermont calling it

known as Norwich University. In 1916 congress officially created the ROTC and
Junior ROTC as part of the National Defense Act. The Norwich Academy education

Dog In The Night-Time
The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time, as written by Mark Haddon,
provides an astounding narrative that is more unique than any other. Told from the
point of view from Christopher, a special needs fifteen year old, Haddon tells the
story in which Christopher goes on a journey to discover how and why the
neighborhood dog was killed, and as a result discovers much more about his own
world. The events that happen in the book are extraordinary circumstances. After
all, a boy doesn t find a dead dog and discover that his mother is alive every day.
Christopher thinks logically, and approaches new and confusing situations as
according. Therefore, It may appear that he is growing, but in reality, he is only
adapting and reacting accordingly.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Because he thinks in this rigid caste like system, he leaves little room for change. His
brain works like a computer, as he takes in data and interprets as such. After he has
experienced his life changing event, he continues to think logically by taking his
new experiences and basing new thoughts and insights on them. This is the only
place where he seems to have shown growth. In the end, he has gained enough
confidence to deal with life in a more efficient way. In his final writing to the
audience, he states that I found my mother and I was brave and I wrote a book and
that means I can do anything (Haddon 221). Even so, this is still only Christopher
acknowledging his logical responses to extraordinary events. Throughout the entirety
of the novel he has shown that instead of growing as a person, he has instead adapted
to the various problems that he had to face, and in his mind, that is just as useful as

Cultural Contributions Of Healer s Association To Bram
Stoker
The first thing that comes to mind when thinking of Transylvania is it s association
to Bram Stokers, Dracula, however for such a small area of land, its at times cloudy
history with it blends the beautiful Carpathian landscape creating a feeling of
enchantment when gazing up pictures of Transylvania. Besides for my grandparents
being born in Transylvania, I have always been intrigued by its rough yet resilient
history. Its cultural history consists of multiple heritages due to its geographic
location through time. Its important to remember that for centuries, despite being a
small area, the area of Transylvania has always been extremely divers. From the
beginning of written history up until post WWII, Transylvania s people have

My Writing And Writing
I have never been a strong writer, even though I love to read. People told me that
being a good reader would make me a better writer, but I have yet to see the fruits
of it. Although learning how to write has always been something I aspire to do,
through all my years of school not once has a teacher ever taught me how to write.
Teachers have always assumed the previous teacher taught the skills I need to write a
decent essay. My teachers have commented on how my sentence structure and
transitions are weak within my essays, but they have never shown me how
strengthen my sentences. Grammar is something I have always been atrocious at.
The first time commas were explained to me was my junior year of high school,
and it was just a quick review since I was supposed to know how to use them
already, even though not one teacher took the time to thoroughly explain when to
use commas and how to use commas. When grading essays, my teachers never
commented on the errors or went over them with me to help me understand my
mistakes; they just handed the essay back with a grade on it. I believe these are the
main reasons I am struggling to produce college level essays.
I struggled with the persuasive research essay more than any other essay due to the
fact that I was not in a classroom where the teacher thoroughly explained proper
quotations to me. When I am in a classroom and I do not understand a concept, I
always ask the teacher to further explain the concept until I understand it.
The Importance Of Realism In The Film The King Of Kong
In the film, The King of Kong, realist aesthetics are used to give the audience a
view of the real world and create the deeper meaning that if something doesn t look
like it is real than it is ultimately flawed and inaccurate. Compared to this, formalist
aesthetics that are used in the film, Wreck It Ralph, are not only utilized to present a
whole new world that is exaggerated visually, but to primarily produce a vision that
creates a deeper meaning and tone that is far from realistic.
The cinematography that is being displayed in the film, The King of Kong, is what is
known as deep focus cinematography. In the documentary, there are many instances
where there is a lot of space in front of the camera, consisting of space and people,
that is in clear focus and only partially distorted in some areas that are mainly
difficult to identify. The foreground, middle ground, and background will all be in
crisp focus. For example, when Steve Wiebe is playing Donkey Kong at Funspot,
Steve is presented clearly in the foreground as well as the many people and gaming
consoles in the middle ground and background. This type of cinematography is
used to present to the audience something that they can essentially relate to on a
personal and real level. Each part of the image is in focus to give off the notion
that everything that is being seen is like what is seen in a real world situation. On
the other hand, expressive cinematography is what is utilized in the film, Wreck It
Ralph. This type of cinematography is characterized by using fast or slow motion,
whether it be with an object or person. When a person or object in the film is sped
up it is usually in order to represent a lapse of a large amount of time. For example,
when Ralph is talking about the new games that appear over time in the arcade, the
people and gaming consoles speed up and alter with the lapse of time. Opposite of
this is when time and space are slowed down. For instance, when Felix saves
Sergeant Calhoun and himself from dying in the Nesquik Sand they in turn gaze into
each other s eyes. Slow motion is used in this instance to intensify built up romantic
emotions and of course expand time. This type of cinematography is used to give the
audience
Analysis Of John Milton s Paradise Lost
Within holy heaven, Satan infuses the sin of pride into the atmosphere by raising up
against God, the King of all authority. Such opposition meets the Lord of all who
casts this arrogant angel down into the depths of hell a place where evil abounds.
This opposition proves only the beginning of ensuing warwhich will intensify until
Godsilences it in the depths of hell. In Paradise Lost, John Milton uncovers the
brewing embers of this war right from its first spark. Milton expounds upon the fall
of Satan with the intent of giving his readers a taste of the tension which this war
between God and Satan gives. This taste will spark an understanding within the
readers mind of the presence of this ongoing present war. Throughout this piece of...

With evil and rebellious pride intertwined, Satan will and can never consider
untangling these fibers but will strengthen them through his resolve to war. Satan
s fall from his rank of esteem transformed him into the antithesis of evil. As a fallen
creature of God, Satan no longer loves holiness and righteousness. Instead, he wars
against anything that reflects the pure character of God. Since Satan s character
opposes the character of God, Milton coined the name, Apostate Angel, to denote
his enmity against God (1.125). In every aspect of his mindset, actions, and
motives, Satan acts in opposition to the manner that God acts. Essentially, the
enmity seeps down to the very core and essence of Satan s being. Not one fiber of
Satan s being desires to do good but only evil. Satan s new fallen character gives
allegiance only to strengthening and carrying out of evil. For all eternity, Satan
wars against God by twisting and seeking to destroy the will of God. Not even for
a moment will Satan rest from pursuit this goal. All of Satan s energies, must be to
pervert that end the will of God which triumphs over his opposing will (1.164). Such
opposition from God only intensifies Satan s fury to continue to oppose God s
winning will. Every time God executes his will, Satan seeks to divert it through his
many tactics. Whenever Satan attacks the will of God, God carries his will through
despite the onslaughts. Despite this fact, Satan moved

The Importance Of Marketing Channels And Distribution
What is the importance of Marketing channels and distribution? Marketing channels
has been used in business operations for a long time. A marketing channel is made
by the people, organizations, and activities necessary to transfer the ownership of
goods from the point of production to the point of consumption. It is the way
products and services get to the end user, the consumer; and is also known as a
distributionchannel. Distribution channels is a network of firms that are
interconnected in their quest to provide sellers a means of infusing the marketplace
with its goods and buyers purchasing of those goods. (Iacobucci, 2013) Distribution is
one of the most important features that one must consider in undertaking even a
simple marketingchannel. Distribution and Marketing channels are very important
because they are the ones who help us find the products and services that we greatly
need. (Retrieve from Importance of Marketing) Today, electronic delivery sends
information to ones computers, smartphones, and other devices in ways that allow
for more immediate and continuous access anywhere, anytime, and with a better
filing system than paper notices. (Swire Ahmad, 2015) This allows customers to
receive electronic notices and interact with their accounts regardless of location,
which provides much desired flexibility and convenience. Therefore, one needs to
know the important role that marketing channels play to help the company succeed.

Threads Assignment
Threads Assignment The movie Threads, directed by Mick Jackson, gives us an
insight of how an urban civilisation functions when nations use nuclear arsenals to
fight their wars. As shown in the movie, the urban society collapses almost entirely.
Diseases spread like wildfire, the education sector drops due to the lack of resources,
and the sense of survival surpasses the importance morals of humans. This filmwith
its gory grotesque depiction really engraves a nightmarish picture of what to expect
from a global catastrophe such as an atomic bomb explosion. The significance of the
web scene in the movie is to generally show how humans that live in an urban society
are interconnected with many other social institutions (education, workplaces
The Legacy Of Alexander The Great
Sparse historical figures stand out like the man Alexander the Great. He became a
warrior by the age of sixteen and was a king at twenty. He did things during his
existence that others could only envisage about. Alexander was a man who was
both wrathful and compassionate depending on the day. He single handedly
transformed the tide of the world in a little over a decade, and inadvertently may
have shaped how the entire world has grown. I believe he perfectly exemplifies the
qualities of a person whose leadership and legacy has had great effect. Alexander
the Great was born in June in 356 BCE in the ancient capital of Macedon known as
Pella. He was the first son of Philip II, the King of Macedon and Olympia, the
Princess of Epirus. Alexander gained his father s astonishing organization skills and
his mother s vehement disposition. When Alexander was young his mother told him
that Achilles was related to him and also his father was a descendant of Hercules ;
hence influencing him to memorize the Iliad and always have it at his side.
Alexander exhibited marks of valor and potency at an incredibly early age. His
mother and father saw the aptitude for their son to be a great leader, and therefore
hired Aristotle as his private instructor. Aristotle and Alexander studied together at
Mieza, a temple near his palace. Alexander ascertained philosophy, political
knowledge, and ethical values at the hands of Aristotle. Alexander thought of
Aristotle as a father figure, and it can

Aging Population In Canada
In Canada, most people with conditions usually choose to have only one child and
lead to a drop in the natural population growth rate. While older workers are retired,
the newly added workforce slows down the entire workforce to an alarming level.
The low birth rate and the aging of the population are a worrying concern for Canada.

will need more health care and translation services. More home care. As the number

Compare And Contrast Eisenhower And Truman
During presidencies, Eisenhower and Truman both struggles on how they would end
the cold war around the globe. They had high expectations on how they would
prevent the war in crippled Europe using America s foreign policy.
Harry S. Truman a democrat served in the senates, in 1934 he became a Vice,
president. He later succeeded President Franklin Roosevelt 1945, after his death as
the 33rd President of the United Sates. On the other hand, Dwight Eisenhower was a
modern Republican. A former commander of the Allied Forces in Western Europe
during the Word War II. In 1956, Eisenhower was the 34th President of the United
States. Both men faced challenges in handling the war and economic crisis and
foreign affairs during the period. Some of their
Room, by Emma Donoghue
We have all heard the African proverb that says, It takes a village to raise a child. The
response given by Emma Donoghue s novel Room, simply states, If you ve got a
village. But if you don t, then maybe it just takes two people (Donoghue 234). For
Jack, Room is where he was born and has been raised for the past five years; it is his
home and his world. Jack s Ma on the other hand knows that Room is not a home, in
fact, it is a prison. Since Ma s kidnapping, seven years prior, she has survived in the
shed of her capturer s backyard. This novelcontains literary elements that are not
only crucial to the story but give significance as well. The Point of view brings a

(Donoghue 18)
Through this, we see that the only other person who might be real is Old Nick. Even
then, Jack expresses the thought that Old Nick may not be completely real because
he is from Outside. Once Jack learns that outside is a real place he must being to
comprehend the idea that Outside has everything (Donoghue 71). As Jack begins to
think this through he states:
Whenever I think of a thing now like skis or fireworks or islands or elevators or yo

world he refers to as Outside. The perspective of the narrator allows the reader to
begin to understand the mind of a child. The author chooses to use this unique point
of view to give the audience the chance to think of what it would be like to be in a
situation like this. It makes a person reflect and think about their childhood, how it
was different, and what they
Religion In The Film Silence
The film, Silence, has a myriad of characters that are on a spectrum of religious
belief. There are certain characters that show an immense devotion to their faith,
willing to risk their life and the lives of others to profess their fidelity to God.
Although this film highlights two Jesuit priests, Father Sebastian Rodrigues and
Father Francisco Garupe, there is an interesting contrasting devotion from the
Inquisition to Buddhism. They have no tolerance for Christianity and believe it to be
a cancer that must be cut from Japan. The priests go to great lengths to find a third
priest, Father Cristovao Ferreira, who has gone missing while operating as a
missionary. Father Ferreira ends up getting captured, recants his faith, and sides with
the Inquisition, helping them investigate objects hidden as Christian relics. There are
many applicable ideas relating to religious fundamentalismwithin the film.
Sigmund Freud and William James differ on the explanation of religious experience.
James focuses on religion as feelings and experiences of an individual. For the most
part the religious experience is felt instead of a concept. James also believes that
religion is not linear or homogenous. There are different perceptions or involvement
one has with their faith. A great example of contrasting persons within their religious
experiences in the film, Silence, is Father Rodrigues and Yosulu Kubozuka
(Kichijiro). The viewer would most likely consider Father Rodrigues as the main
Teenage Pregnancy Essay
Teenage pregnancy is one of the issues in our country today. It is a major problem
because many teenagers are not aware that having a child when you re a child
yourself comes with big responsibilities. Sometimes many teenagers feel like they
must be sexual active to prove a point and sometimes teenagers are even pressured by
their friends or even their soul mate. Teenage pregnancyis a very big problem and
more needs to be done to prevent teen pregnancy and to educate teens about its
consequences.
A lot of places and people exist that teens can go to for information about teenage
pregnancy. One of the first places that teens can go to would be school because in
school they provide classes that talks about pregnancy and its consequences. ... Show

Parents have already seen and have been through situations when they were
teenagers, so they would know what to say and would know how you feel because
they were once teens. So, talking to a parent can be helpful because they know what
true love is and know how hard it is to raise A baby at such a young age and because
of that they would like for their children to know about it and that it s a major
problem to be involved in. Parents also can give you good advice on not worrying
about boys or kids while being a teen and to focus on making good decisions by
staying in school and having a good career for yourself.
In the same way doctors, can also communicate with teenagers about what they can
do to stay away from pregnancy. Doctors help teenagers by talking to them a
showing them what can happen to them by having unprotected sex and its
consequences. They explain to teens that having unprotected sex could leave them
with a sexual transmitted disease or even a child that could mess their life up. The
Providers can offer sexually active teens a broad range of contraceptive methods
and encourage them to use the most effective methods (Best). Going to the doctors
is always a good choice because they give teens a brief explanation on teen pregnancy
and goes over all its roles on why you don t want to be a mother at such an early age.

Ethics And Intellectual Property Of Intellectual Properties
Ethics and Intellectual Property When discussing a creation or idea, the creator of
such concept must be rewarded. This must be the case for any situation. For most
cases this is true, but because the ownership of such properties bring financial
benefits, and or settlements, regulations will continue to challenge what is right or
wrong when dealing with intellectual property. This is accurate for many industries,
field, and markets. The owner ship of intellectual properties can take a creation or idea
worldwide, the profits from such invention can be endless. This concept is what will
push a persons or organizational ethical principles to its limits. With that in mind,
such characters will do whatever it takes to gain rights to intellectual property.
Another very important opinion for this subject is how long must the duration of
intellectual properties last? The longer the patentee holds on to the idea, the more
they will benefit. This is where such believes creates issues for its particular market.
Many individuals and organizations find that such believes are unethical. Many
believe that creations or inventions must be shared with everyone. Such groups want
ideas and creation to be enjoyed by everyone, a public domain (Lau Johnson, 2014).
There are many parties that stand firm behind this idea, especially when dealing with
items or inventions that can benefit or help the people. An example of such
inventions or ideas are the creations of new medicines or medications.
Sleep Disturbance And Day Time Sleepiness
which his characterized by snoring, sleep disturbance and day time sleepiness. There
is a close relation between OSA and hypertension; as many as one third of
hypertensive patients and above 80% of those with resistant hypertension have OSA.
Alcohol Higher intake of alcohol increases the blood pressure. Reducing alcohol
leads to fall in the systolic blood pressure.
Stress Psychological or environmental stress play a part in the causes of hypertension.
Direct effects of situations such as poverty, unemployment and poor education
(stressors) are involved, as are other aspects of lifestyle that are linked to
hypertension.
Exercise Physical activity increases blood pressure, but people who exercise
regularly have lower blood pressures. Such people, however, also may have a
healthier diet and more sensible drinking and smoking habits.
Other dietary factors Vegetarians generally have lower BP than non vegetarians.
Reducing a meat rich diet with vegetable products reduces blood pressure. Caffeine
and caffeinated drinks also increases blood pressure and must be avoided.
THE VARIOUS BODY MECHANISMS THAT CAUSES AND INFLUENCES
HYPERTENSION
The various mechanisms that cause and influences hypertension are actually built
into us for good reasons: we need them to keep our blood pressure from falling too
low. But when they go somewhat awry, they cause high blood pressure. And when
that happens, we need treatment for hypertension, ironically aimed at the same
mechanisms.

Scared Straight Program Analysis
Part Two: Scared Straight Solutions There are alternatives to helping a minor avoid
delinquency. If a child has chronic issues, they need to be addressed over time by
professionals who aren t in law enforcement (Yu, 2014). Many programs are
available to children and families at little to no cost. Including counseling, group
therapy, activities for all ages, exercise classes, volunteer jobs, and so many more.
The best way to build a relationship with your child is to try. Law enforcement
officials aren t counselors. If a twenty minute session with an inmate or officer isn t
going to work because a lack of relationship than perhaps it could work with someone
close to the minor.
It all comes down to the needs of a specific juvenile. Not all teenagers or children
are going to fit into a cookie cutter mold and when there is an issue there isn t one
treatment that will work for the entire adolescent population. When it comes to the

who had not participated in these types of programs (DCJS 2012). While educating

Brian Snare Analysis
The intricate universe of mergers is often a chaotic endeavor for many musicians,
one where few artists have found success unless that artist s name is Brian Eno. But
let it be a pair of Canadian producers to subvert this notion. A master at exercising the
dichotomy between electronic intelligentsia and the dark confines of breakcore,
Venetian Snares (Aaron Funk) teams up with prolific producer Daniel Lanois, whose
name is attached to projects like U2 s The Joshua Tree and Brian Eno s Apollo

Racism In Midnight Without A Moon By Linda Williams
Jackson
Racism; a belief or doctrine that inherent differences among the various human races
determine cultural or individual achievement, usually involving the idea that one s
own race is superior and has the right to rule others. In the historical fiction novel,
Midnight Without a Moon, by Linda Williams Jackson, the author shows how
horribly blacks were treated when they tried to vote. The main character, Rose Lee
Carter, battles with understanding why blacks were facing such repercussions while
trying to fight for their rights. Levi Jackson, Reverend George W. Lee, and Lamar
Smith face several acts of racism while trying to vote, and because of this, they are
brutally murdered. However, the reader is left wondering if the punishments the
characters received actually occurred in real life. In Midnight Without a Moon, the
author uses history by including key details to emphasize how far whites were
willing to go in order to ensure that blacks wouldn t be allowed to vote, while at times

John Simpsons Vision For The Museum Essay
Today s visit to the museum was exciting! Having the opportunity to see John
Simpsons vision for the museum in its current state, and knowing we could
influence the design is a golden opportunity from my perspective. What this signaled
was Amsterdam, when talking of flow and influence of language and historical
content. I knew when I first saw the Seuss advertisement, I had my eye on a few of
them. However, as a dyslexic person writing, and applying for all three, last minute I
wrote for research on his life. For me the biggest connection was museum flow, and
space usage in different highlighted sections .As research continues I m wanting to
link preexisting infrastructure together. Conversations regarding revitalize Springfield

Contemplating Seuss as a major attraction, drawing people to Springfield drawing in
new sources of revue, would be a major benefit to the city and attract perspective
business startups. Given what I know so far, Seuss would like incorporating social
issues into this project.
Spending time in meetings, hearing the perspective desired changes the city, is

these potential changes could therefore increase tourist levels. Coming back from
Amsterdam, one aspect of the museum s details would need hand held devices

Symptoms And Symptoms Of Chemical Senses
Chemical Senses
Smell, taste, touch, sight and hearing, are all senses that individuals take for granted
every day. These senses allow humans to better understand their environment. Two
senses that is important to an individual everyday meal, is the sense of smell and
taste. Smell allows the aromas around the meal, to enter the nose to determine if the
meal either smells good or bad. Taste gives the mouth the opportunity to understand
if a meal either needs more seasoning or if it is just perfect. Taste and smell can also
bring back a memory that is associated with a particular meal. These memories could
be a harmful memory from a fight in a restaurant, or a delightful time with
Grandmother in the kitchen. Taste
Taste occurs when a certain chemical substance enters the mouth and makes contact
with a nerve cell, which activates it by changing the protein that is in the sensory
cell. This allows the cell to give messages to other nerve cells to pass information to
the brain on the particular flavor that is being transmitted by the mouth. The papillae
are the bumps that are on the tongue, is responsible for an individual to be able to
have a more magnifying taste. Inside of the papillae is the taste buds. Each taste bud
has sensory cells that are connected to different nerve fibers.
Each individual has five important tastes, which are salty, sweet, sour, bitter and
umami. When food or liquids enter

Gender Inequality And Ethnic Inequality
Introduction
To begin with, it might be necessary to define the terms of Gender inequality and
ethnic inequality in employment. While gender disadvantage refers to the prejudicial
treatment of an individual or group based solely on issues of gender (Robert, 2008);
ethnic inequality indicates the unfair distribution of opportunities and resources
between the majority white and black and minority ethnic groups in the labour
market. The two issues have been rooted in the job market for long, and despite
recent progress of improvement, the issues remain and probably have evolved into
more covert and complex forms. In the following context, the two kinds of
disadvantages will firstly be introduced respectively, together with reasons behind the
scene; yet, acknowledge the relevance of gender differences to ethnic inequality, the
explanations given for BME group s predicament will be aware of the overlaps
between gender and ethnicity issues; a brief conclusion will also be provided in the
final part, however, given the complexity of the picture, for example, the extent to
which women and men from different ethnic groups experience disadvantages varies
(Vittachi, 2011), it is hard to generalise and any predictions about future prospect may
not be realized.
The Position of Women in the Labour Market
Over the last 40 years, women have achieved great success in gaining their equalities
in the workplace, this view is particularly advocated by a stream of feminists called

Robin Williams Research Paper
Robin Williams is a Chicago grown American man who is best known for his fast

contributor to his career later on. Robin McLaurin Williams was born in Chicago,

Comparing Utnapishtim And Noah s Ark
Those living had built a structure that would carry them over days and nights. Some
among many survive a great flood. Birds were sent to indicate if the flood had
dissipated. These are some of the many moments that symbolize intrical points which
maneuver the stories along. All of these items and ideas bear similarity with two well
known myths, the story of Utnapishtim and Noahs Ark. In The Epic of Gilgamesh, the
story of Utnapishtim and the flood that is reminiscent of the Biblical account of Noah
and the flood, both utilize symbolism of the flood, the structure to survive the flood,
and the birds to establish the theme that though beings are destructive, some will
thrive and flourish.

He chose to do so once he knew that Noah was an acceptable being and through the
rebirth of other humans he thought that they could achieve the same behavior that
Noah and his family represented. So not all homosapiens are evil and deserve to live.
The ark is another symbol that contributes to the theme that though humans are
intolerable, there are people who are righteous. This is demonstrated in The Epic
of Gilgamesh when the god Ea tells Utnapishtim to tear down his house and build a
boat (108), and then proceeds to inform him of the measurements of the barque as
he shall build her (108). The god Ea further details him to take up into the boat of
all living creatures (108). Utnapishtim listens and loaded into her all that he had of
gold and of living things , his family , his kin, the beast of the field both wild and
tame, and all the craftsmen (109). The ark symbolizes safety and security. The ark
itself would protect themselves and ensure that there would be no danger. These
living beings are the only ones who survive. If the god Ea were to choose someone
righteous to live, he would choose Utnapishtim and his family, otherwise, he wouldn t
have told Utnapishtim about the upcoming flood. In the Bible, God tells Noah to
make himself an ark of cypress wood and tells him of the content and
measurements(New International Version, Genesis 6.14
College Athletes Must be Held to the Same Standards as...
Despite a tendency for institutions to be lenient with college athletes, as they enjoy
the benefits of full time student status, they must be held to the same standards as
non athlete students. Every institution has an obligation to set attendance rules;
students who attend these institutions have an obligation to abide by them, however,
in actuality, professors chose whether or not they re enforced. This may cause
significant problems between other students targeting a player, rather than who is
responsible, the Professor. Although institutions want their students equally treated,
diversity is well accepted. Existence as a college athlete contributes to diversity as

Furthermore, Community College professors are easier to work with due to smaller
class size, rather than a University, where class sizes are so large, one may never
met the professor. There are various obstacles to overcome in college athletics; ones
that are mentioned are just to name a few.
Although many argue in defense of college athletics, to elaborate on the few
obstacles mentioned, one might put more detail in how stress and anxiety can be
reduced simply by exercise. Exercise is great for brain functioning as well as the
body. A decrease in stress may help a player to perform well on assignments, and the
field. To help a player into a positive mental state, couches have put together certain
stretches that specifically target anxiety pressure points. When an athlete is in a
positive mental state, he/she is able to perform well. Players are also able to control
their thinking, remove tension, and conserve energy using the special techniques
provided. Generally, techniques used for relaxation, should result in decreased blood
pressure, heart rate, breathing rate, and decreased body metabolism. Another benefit
of college athletics, is the substantial amount of class time one may miss, this gives
an opportunity for other students to have one on one attention with their professor
and peers. Smaller class size contributes to individual success. Now, other advantages
of missing class include
Why Do Children Should Be Banned Persuasive Essay
In America, we have shifted our beliefs on participation trophies. Nowadays,
everyone and anyone receives trophies and awards solely for showing up. There is a
dramatic split in in our nation as to whether or not participation trophies should be
given out among young children. Many argue that giving children these trophies will
make them grow up to be lazy and entitled, others say children are too young for the
idea that somebody is better than them. I believe that children should receive
participation awards, because it teaches kids that having fun is more important than
winning, at a young age, children shouldn t be taught that some of their peers are
better than them, and contrary to popular belief, I don t believe that participation
awards lead to lazy and entitled kids.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The author of, Top Dog, is quoted for saying, The benefit of competing isn t
actually winning. (Merrymen) Competing in any extracurricular activities have
numerous benefits, such as having fun, developing skills, and making friends.
Children should be taught from a young age that winning isn t everything. In my
opinion, awarding every child a participation award only encourages them to
continue doing what they love. Even if the awards seem meaningless today, they
will someday look back at all of their awards and remember all of the hard work,
the fun, and the lifetime friends they made. Furthermore, if only some children are
given awards, it makes the other children feel as if they are somehow of lesser
value than the children who received awards. This, could have a devastating impact
on a young child s self esteem and self worth. In the end, it does less damage to a
child s mentality to receive participation awards. Young children shouldn t be in a
position to develop the idea that their peers are better because they earned more
awards than they
Abolition Of Pennies
The U.S have been producing pennies for over a 200 years now and over time it
has become very useless to the society. A penny is only one cent and to most
people that is worthless. Pennies were more valued around the 1950s, when the
products were very cheap to buy. As technology evolved, and as products got more
expensive, the use of dollar bills and greater got more valuable. The abolition of the
penny needs to happen in the United States. Because pennies are outdated, therefore
the United States should abolish the pennies, since there s no single products that can
be purchased with a penny. Pennies are so worthless in this new century, but yet the
united states are still producing millions of pennies every day. The U.S economy has

Antibiotics And Antimicrobial Resistance
In this paper, I address some major ethical issues associated with the ineffective use
of Antibiotics which contributes to Antimicrobial resistance (AMR), as
Antimicrobial resistance is a direct consequence of not considering several
bioethical factors associated with proper use of antibiotics since its advent. The
Antimicrobial resistance is a result of ceaseless selection pressure over bacterial
population during several generations from human application of antibiotics through
overuse, underuse and misuse. In the first section, I have discussed why AMR
currently has become one of the major public health concerns and the impacts of the
AMR on global public health should not merely be viewed as a technical or medical

Examples Of Deception In Othello
Iago is a master of deception. Despite his cruelty and lack of concern for others, he
is able to deceive many because Iago prays on their weaknesses and lack of trust in
virtue and purity, represented by Desdemona. Just as the characters are unable to
believe in Iago s true nature one of evil , they also refuse to trust in Desdemonas true
nature; had Othelloseen either character s true identity, he could have saved their
lives. Desdemona proves that she would give anything to protect and honor her
marriage, but despite her whole hearted commitment to Othello, he betrays her;
Shakespeare pits these two characters Iagoand Desdemona against each other to
show that it is just as difficult to believe in pure good as it is to believe in pure evil.
Desdemona s first sacrifice is marrying Othello at all; to do so she must abandon
her status, wealth, and beloved father. Roderigo claims that by doing so she has,
made a gross revolt; tying her duty, beauty, wit and fortunes in an extravagant and
wheeling stranger (Othello from Folger Digital Texts). Her entire future relies on
her trust in a man she hardly knows and who society has told her is lower than her
in every way which shows how sincere her love for Othello was; she had nothing to
gain from their eloping, but did so regardless. However, Othello is not clueless and
knows it is incredibly strange for her to have married him; in Othello: Incredulity
and the Possible , Robert Pack explains that, He is older than she, of another race, ...

The Identity Theory Of Mind
The development of the Identity Theory of Mind is representative of materialist
philosophy s shift towards questions of human consciousness. Within philosophical
and scientific circles, discussions of the mind and body have supplanted discussions
of what constitutes the world around us. Staggering technological innovation,
alongside the establishment of superior of scientific research methodologies, has
given rise to this philosophical trend Identity Theory is, indeed, the culmination of
this trend. Throughout the course of this essay I will both define and defend
Identity Theory against what I consider to be two superficially convincing counter
arguments; namely, the invocation of the Leibniz Law (otherwise referred to as The
Identity of Indiscernibles) and The Problem of Other Minds . Though seemingly
persuasive, the invocation of the Leibniz Law, at its core, consists of a semantic
trick. As a general ontological principle the Leibniz Law may possess some validity;
in its specific application to Identity Theory however, it remains destitute of
substance. On the other hand, The Problem of Other Minds relies on a radical
scepticism irreconcilable with current understandings of the brain. Based on the
degree of scientific knowledge available regarding the composition of the brain,
Identity Theory, at this time, provides a logical and coherent account of the
relationship between mindand body.
The Identity Theory of Mind asserts that states and processes of the mind
How Did The Confederation Lead To German Unification
After the Holy Roman Empire was dissolved by Napoleon, all of the German states
were completely separate. They had nothing tying them together until 1815. This is
when the Congress of Vienna created the German Confederation, a group of 39
loosely joined German states. The Confederation still had no central government, but
delegates would meet once a month to discuss things like mutual laws and policies.
The Confederation was mainly a loose political organization who had common allies
and enemies (Britannica). The states in the Confederation were still separate for the
most part, although this did not cause them problems. The Confederation worked for
all of the states and they were all peaceful. In 1864 the process of unification started...

Because of these issues, the Seven Weeks war started between Austria and Prussia.
Bismarck had already gotten Italian support and French neutrality for Prussia.
Prussia made the first move by occupying Holstein, but many German states,
including Saxony, Hanover and Bavaria, took Austria s side. They were suspicious
of Prussian military. Despite having support, Austria was defeated at the Battle of
Sadowa (Koniggratz). The Treaty of Prague was created in August of that year and
excluded Austria from all German affairs. Throughout the process of creating the
Treaty, Bismarck made sure that Austria didn t lose any land. After this, the German
Confederation was dissolved and the North German Confederation was formed. The
North German Confederation consisted of all of the German states north of the Main
river and it was controlled by Prussia. The southern states such as Baden and Bavaria
stayed independent, although they had military alliances with Prussia. A main
problem that delayed further unification was France, ruled by Napoleon III. The
French held a growing idea that a Germany that was united and ruled by Prussia
would create competition against France for being the main power in Europe. In 1870,
Liberalism And Ligalitarianism
Politics is often discussed on the basis or right and wrong, left and right, and is
riddled with false dichotomies, when it really is a much more vivid and complex
spectrum than that. There are many different systems of governments and competing
ideologies, that are further then divided in their leanings and priorities. Of the first
ideologies, Liberalism, is also subcategorized into different interpretations based on
how much of liberty is attainable and a governmental presence there should be. It is
divided into Classical Liberalism, Social Darwinism, Egalitarian Liberalism,
Libertarianism, and Libertarian Anarchism. The reason there is much contention
within Liberalism as an ideology on its own, is because all of these factions idealize...

On the one hand, with the emergence of the nation state and theories of sovereignty
in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, ideas of a distinctly public realm began
to crystallize. On the other hand, in reaction to the claims of monarchs and, later,
parliaments to the unrestrained power to make law, there developed a
countervailing effort to stake out distinctively private spheres free from the
encroaching power of the state. Natural rights theories were elaborated in the
seventeenth century for the purpose of setting limits on state power, both over
property and religious conscience(3). Many philosophers such as Locke, Miller, and
Paine, and Kant argue for these rights due to the fact that there was a great social
awakening and a growing urge to question the legitimacy of leadership. On these
basis stood the foundation of classical liberalism.
Classical Liberalism prioritizes above all things complete and total individual liberty.
Believers in Classical Liberalism assert that it must be served in completeness
because any lack of it creates citizens that are willingly dependent on the government.
It is imperative to understand that Classical Liberalism does not call for complete
anarchy or even no government at all like Libertarian Anarchists do, but rather a
small government. Thomas Paine describes this idea as Society in every state is a
blessing, but government even in its best state is but a necessary evil; in its worst
Disadvantages Of Globalization
Globalization is the accelerated increase in activity in International economy. It is an
anomaly in regards to economics and communications. However, it does influence
politics. At its heart, globalization is built on the twin pillars of capitalism and high
tech communications . (Riemer, Simon, Berry 2016). The most evitable characteristic
is the large increases in economic integration and interdependence in trade, banking,
transportation, and investment. The trade figures alone are staggering. International
tradesuch as merchandise exports has steadily increased after World War II (Riemer,
Simon, Berry 2016, p. 317). However, with all the benefits globalizationprovides
countries of the world such as increased economics, culture, work ethic, and increased
communication it does come with disadvantages such as increasing unemployment in
developed countries, increasing trade deficit in developed countries, and terrorism
(Reddy Vyas, 2004).
.
Advantages of Globalization According to Riemer, Simon, Berry (2016)
Globalization is a process of interaction and integration among people, companies, and
governments of different nations, a process driven by international trade and
investment and aided by information technology . Globalization does lead to better
economic growth. Economic growth is important for wealthy as well as poor
countries, since the countries without economic growth do not feel safe or secure.
However, the results of economic globalization
The Contract By Iyayi Critical Analysis
There exists a symbiotic relationship between literature and the critical comments
on it. Literature requires criticism for its growth and criticism requires a literary
work upon which to validate its usefulness (Wright 1973). The novel especially is
meant to enlarge our understanding of life and deepen our knowledge of the
social, political and historical issues of our societies (Palmer, 1986). The novelist
should be able to present a fully realized body of life and create realistic characters
and situations in the story if it should be considered as successful. A novel, according
to Palmer (1986), is realistic

What is the Gospel?
The word Gospel overstated. Indeed, it is the culminating concept of the entire
Bible. So as the biblical writers proclaimed this good news to all, so we, in turn,
proclaim it to others. One of the most famous of all passages which is located in
John says For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that
whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life (New International
Version, John. 3.16). This is a passage that a Christian might refer you to if you were
to ask them what is the gospel. The good news of the gospel is that Jesus lived a life

You do that, you re declared just by God, you re adopted into His family, you re
forgiven of all of your sins, and you have begun your pilgrimage for eternity. In
Corinthians 15:1 4, the apostle Paul summarizes the most basic ingredients of the
gospel message, namely, the death, burial, resurrection, and appearances of the
resurrected Christ. It states Now, brothers and sisters, I want to remind you of the
gospel I preached to you, which you received and on which you have taken your
stand. By this gospel, you are saved, if you hold firmly to the word I preached to
you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain. For what I received I passed on to you
as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins. According to the Scripture(1
Corinthians. 15.1 4). 1 Peter 2:24, Who his own self bare our sins in his own body
on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness(1 Peter.
2.24). These verses, which were an early Christian confession, give us the heart of
the gospel and show the that the resurrection is an integral part of the gospel. Note
that Paul described this as of first importance a phrase that stresses priority, not time.
The stress is on the centrality of these truths to the gospel message. As I stated
earlier the word gospel is said many times in the Bible. But usually, it is accompanied
by another word. Such as the gospel of John or the gospel of the kingdom. In the New

Analysis Of The Movie Workplace Tension
Workplace Tension
In his 1916 silent film Intolerance, D.W. Griffith pioneered editing techniques that
helped establish montage as a core component of film language. Griffith set out to
unite four disparate storylines under the common theme of love s eternal battle with
intolerance. While Griffith believed this film achieved its goal, some of his
contemporaries argued that Intolerance was a magnificent failure (Eisenstein, 241).
Indeed, Eisenstein proposed that the unification Griffith sought to create was
impossible because the juxtaposition of these stories did not create new meaning.
Instead, Eisenstein wrote that the lack of conflict between shots prevented the
synthesis of a higher meaning, or montage trope. While it is true that Intolerance
generally does not accomplish montage trope, especially when referencing Walt
Whitman s Out of the Cradle Endlessly Rocking, where Griffith explicitly attempts it,
there are examples of its implementation. Griffith does manage to achieve this higher
meaning in the scene depicting a labor strike. Eisenstein s claim that Griffith never
incorporates montage tropes into his films is false as demonstrated by the social
criticism in the juxtaposition of the striking mill workers and Mr. Jenkins.
Eisenstein describes montage trope as the juxtaposition of images resulting in a
greater abstract meaning. By abstract, Eisenstein means that the significance of the
juxtaposition is not confined to the individual images on the screen.

Leadership College Essays.pdf

  • 1. Leadership College Essays Crafting an essay on the subject of "Leadership in College" can be both challenging and rewarding. The difficulty lies in the multifaceted nature of leadership, as it encompasses a wide range of qualities, skills, and experiences. The task requires not only a comprehensive understanding of leadership theories but also the ability to reflect on personal experiences and connect them to broader concepts. One of the challenges is striking the right balance between showcasing one's own leadership experiences and incorporating relevant theoretical frameworks. It's crucial to avoid a mere enumeration of accomplishments and instead delve into the impact and lessons learned from those experiences. Additionally, demonstrating humility while highlighting leadership skills can be a delicate balance to maintain. Furthermore, ensuring originality in the essay is vital. The topic of leadership is commonly explored, and admissions officers may come across numerous essays addressing similar themes. Thus, finding a unique angle or perspective that sets your essay apart becomes a crucial aspect of the writing process. Researching and integrating relevant literature on leadership adds another layer of complexity. Drawing upon established leadership theories and models can provide a solid foundation, but synthesizing this information with personal experiences requires finesse. Moreover, the challenge lies in adhering to word limits while still covering all essential aspects. Every sentence must contribute meaningfully to the overall narrative, making each word choice critical. Striking the right tone – one that is authentic, reflective, and showcases personal growth – is yet another dimension to consider. In conclusion, while composing an essay on leadership for college applications can be demanding, it offers an opportunity for self-reflection and self-expression. The ability to articulate one's leadership journey effectively is an invaluable skill in itself. However, it's important to remember that similar essays, as well as assistance in crafting them, can be found on platforms like HelpWriting.net for those seeking additional guidance or examples. (U1C1L2 student textbook) Though JROTC program is very old, its history is filled with rich facts that makes JROTC an amazing program. One hundred years of JROTC from when it was established to today s JROTC and how I would perceive JROTC in the future. JROTC was established in 1819 by Alden Partridge in Norwich, Vermont calling it the American Literary, Scientific, and Military Academy. This academy is now known as Norwich University. In 1916 congress officially created the ROTC and Junior ROTC as part of the National Defense Act. The Norwich Academy education involved for citizens were (long marches, learning
  • 3. Dog In The Night-Time The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time, as written by Mark Haddon, provides an astounding narrative that is more unique than any other. Told from the point of view from Christopher, a special needs fifteen year old, Haddon tells the story in which Christopher goes on a journey to discover how and why the neighborhood dog was killed, and as a result discovers much more about his own world. The events that happen in the book are extraordinary circumstances. After all, a boy doesn t find a dead dog and discover that his mother is alive every day. Christopher thinks logically, and approaches new and confusing situations as according. Therefore, It may appear that he is growing, but in reality, he is only adapting and reacting accordingly.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Because he thinks in this rigid caste like system, he leaves little room for change. His brain works like a computer, as he takes in data and interprets as such. After he has experienced his life changing event, he continues to think logically by taking his new experiences and basing new thoughts and insights on them. This is the only place where he seems to have shown growth. In the end, he has gained enough confidence to deal with life in a more efficient way. In his final writing to the audience, he states that I found my mother and I was brave and I wrote a book and that means I can do anything (Haddon 221). Even so, this is still only Christopher acknowledging his logical responses to extraordinary events. Throughout the entirety of the novel he has shown that instead of growing as a person, he has instead adapted to the various problems that he had to face, and in his mind, that is just as useful as anything
  • 4. Cultural Contributions Of Healer s Association To Bram Stoker The first thing that comes to mind when thinking of Transylvania is it s association to Bram Stokers, Dracula, however for such a small area of land, its at times cloudy history with it blends the beautiful Carpathian landscape creating a feeling of enchantment when gazing up pictures of Transylvania. Besides for my grandparents being born in Transylvania, I have always been intrigued by its rough yet resilient history. Its cultural history consists of multiple heritages due to its geographic location through time. Its important to remember that for centuries, despite being a small area, the area of Transylvania has always been extremely divers. From the beginning of written history up until post WWII, Transylvania s people have experienced... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 5. My Writing And Writing I have never been a strong writer, even though I love to read. People told me that being a good reader would make me a better writer, but I have yet to see the fruits of it. Although learning how to write has always been something I aspire to do, through all my years of school not once has a teacher ever taught me how to write. Teachers have always assumed the previous teacher taught the skills I need to write a decent essay. My teachers have commented on how my sentence structure and transitions are weak within my essays, but they have never shown me how strengthen my sentences. Grammar is something I have always been atrocious at. The first time commas were explained to me was my junior year of high school, and it was just a quick review since I was supposed to know how to use them already, even though not one teacher took the time to thoroughly explain when to use commas and how to use commas. When grading essays, my teachers never commented on the errors or went over them with me to help me understand my mistakes; they just handed the essay back with a grade on it. I believe these are the main reasons I am struggling to produce college level essays. I struggled with the persuasive research essay more than any other essay due to the fact that I was not in a classroom where the teacher thoroughly explained proper quotations to me. When I am in a classroom and I do not understand a concept, I always ask the teacher to further explain the concept until I understand it.
  • 6. The Importance Of Realism In The Film The King Of Kong In the film, The King of Kong, realist aesthetics are used to give the audience a view of the real world and create the deeper meaning that if something doesn t look like it is real than it is ultimately flawed and inaccurate. Compared to this, formalist aesthetics that are used in the film, Wreck It Ralph, are not only utilized to present a whole new world that is exaggerated visually, but to primarily produce a vision that creates a deeper meaning and tone that is far from realistic. The cinematography that is being displayed in the film, The King of Kong, is what is known as deep focus cinematography. In the documentary, there are many instances where there is a lot of space in front of the camera, consisting of space and people, that is in clear focus and only partially distorted in some areas that are mainly difficult to identify. The foreground, middle ground, and background will all be in crisp focus. For example, when Steve Wiebe is playing Donkey Kong at Funspot, Steve is presented clearly in the foreground as well as the many people and gaming consoles in the middle ground and background. This type of cinematography is used to present to the audience something that they can essentially relate to on a personal and real level. Each part of the image is in focus to give off the notion that everything that is being seen is like what is seen in a real world situation. On the other hand, expressive cinematography is what is utilized in the film, Wreck It Ralph. This type of cinematography is characterized by using fast or slow motion, whether it be with an object or person. When a person or object in the film is sped up it is usually in order to represent a lapse of a large amount of time. For example, when Ralph is talking about the new games that appear over time in the arcade, the people and gaming consoles speed up and alter with the lapse of time. Opposite of this is when time and space are slowed down. For instance, when Felix saves Sergeant Calhoun and himself from dying in the Nesquik Sand they in turn gaze into each other s eyes. Slow motion is used in this instance to intensify built up romantic emotions and of course expand time. This type of cinematography is used to give the audience
  • 7. Analysis Of John Milton s Paradise Lost Within holy heaven, Satan infuses the sin of pride into the atmosphere by raising up against God, the King of all authority. Such opposition meets the Lord of all who casts this arrogant angel down into the depths of hell a place where evil abounds. This opposition proves only the beginning of ensuing warwhich will intensify until Godsilences it in the depths of hell. In Paradise Lost, John Milton uncovers the brewing embers of this war right from its first spark. Milton expounds upon the fall of Satan with the intent of giving his readers a taste of the tension which this war between God and Satan gives. This taste will spark an understanding within the readers mind of the presence of this ongoing present war. Throughout this piece of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... With evil and rebellious pride intertwined, Satan will and can never consider untangling these fibers but will strengthen them through his resolve to war. Satan s fall from his rank of esteem transformed him into the antithesis of evil. As a fallen creature of God, Satan no longer loves holiness and righteousness. Instead, he wars against anything that reflects the pure character of God. Since Satan s character opposes the character of God, Milton coined the name, Apostate Angel, to denote his enmity against God (1.125). In every aspect of his mindset, actions, and motives, Satan acts in opposition to the manner that God acts. Essentially, the enmity seeps down to the very core and essence of Satan s being. Not one fiber of Satan s being desires to do good but only evil. Satan s new fallen character gives allegiance only to strengthening and carrying out of evil. For all eternity, Satan wars against God by twisting and seeking to destroy the will of God. Not even for a moment will Satan rest from pursuit this goal. All of Satan s energies, must be to pervert that end the will of God which triumphs over his opposing will (1.164). Such opposition from God only intensifies Satan s fury to continue to oppose God s winning will. Every time God executes his will, Satan seeks to divert it through his many tactics. Whenever Satan attacks the will of God, God carries his will through despite the onslaughts. Despite this fact, Satan moved

He did things during his existence that others could only envisage about. Alexander was a man who was both wrathful and compassionate depending on the day. He single handedly transformed the tide of the world in a little over a decade, and inadvertently may have shaped how the entire world has grown. I believe he perfectly exemplifies the qualities of a person whose leadership and legacy has had great effect. Alexander the Great was born in June in 356 BCE in the ancient capital of Macedon known as Pella. He was the first son of Philip II, the King of Macedon and Olympia, the Princess of Epirus. Alexander gained his father s astonishing organization skills and his mother s vehement disposition. When Alexander was young his mother told him that Achilles was related to him and also his father was a descendant of Hercules ; hence influencing him to memorize the Iliad and always have it at his side. Alexander exhibited marks of valor and potency at an incredibly early age. In the first section, I have discussed why AMR currently has become one of the major public health concerns and the impacts of the AMR on global public health should not merely be viewed as a technical or medical problem but as a distinct
  • 35. Examples Of Deception In Othello Iago is a master of deception. Despite his cruelty and lack of concern for others, he is able to deceive many because Iago prays on their weaknesses and lack of trust in virtue and purity, represented by Desdemona. Just as the characters are unable to believe in Iago s true nature one of evil , they also refuse to trust in Desdemonas true nature; had Othelloseen either character s true identity, he could have saved their lives. Desdemona proves that she would give anything to protect and honor her marriage, but despite her whole hearted commitment to Othello, he betrays her; Shakespeare pits these two characters Iagoand Desdemona against each other to show that it is just as difficult to believe in pure good as it is to believe in pure evil. Desdemona s first sacrifice is marrying Othello at all; to do so she must abandon her status, wealth, and beloved father. Roderigo claims that by doing so she has, made a gross revolt; tying her duty, beauty, wit and fortunes in an extravagant and wheeling stranger (Othello from Folger Digital Texts). Her entire future relies on her trust in a man she hardly knows and who society has told her is lower than her in every way which shows how sincere her love for Othello was; she had nothing to gain from their eloping, but did so regardless. However, Othello is not clueless and knows it is incredibly strange for her to have married him; in Othello: Incredulity and the Possible , Robert Pack explains that, He is older than she, of another race, ... • 36. The Identity Theory Of Mind The development of the Identity Theory of Mind is representative of materialist philosophy s shift towards questions of human consciousness. Within philosophical and scientific circles, discussions of the mind and body have supplanted discussions of what constitutes the world around us. Staggering technological innovation, alongside the establishment of superior of scientific research methodologies, has given rise to this philosophical trend Identity Theory is, indeed, the culmination of this trend. Throughout the course of this essay I will both define and defend Identity Theory against what I consider to be two superficially convincing counter arguments; namely, the invocation of the Leibniz Law (otherwise referred to as The Identity of Indiscernibles) and The Problem of Other Minds . Though seemingly persuasive, the invocation of the Leibniz Law, at its core, consists of a semantic trick. As a general ontological principle the Leibniz Law may possess some validity; in its specific application to Identity Theory however, it remains destitute of substance. On the other hand, The Problem of Other Minds relies on a radical scepticism irreconcilable with current understandings of the brain. Based on the degree of scientific knowledge available regarding the composition of the brain, Identity Theory, at this time, provides a logical and coherent account of the relationship between mindand body. The Identity Theory of Mind asserts that states and processes of the mind
  • 37. How Did The Confederation Lead To German Unification After the Holy Roman Empire was dissolved by Napoleon, all of the German states were completely separate. They had nothing tying them together until 1815. This is when the Congress of Vienna created the German Confederation, a group of 39 loosely joined German states. The Confederation still had no central government, but delegates would meet once a month to discuss things like mutual laws and policies. The Confederation was mainly a loose political organization who had common allies and enemies (Britannica). The states in the Confederation were still separate for the most part, although this did not cause them problems. The Confederation worked for all of the states and they were all peaceful. In 1864 the process of unification started... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Because of these issues, the Seven Weeks war started between Austria and Prussia. Bismarck had already gotten Italian support and French neutrality for Prussia. Prussia made the first move by occupying Holstein, but many German states, including Saxony, Hanover and Bavaria, took Austria s side. They were suspicious of Prussian military. Despite having support, Austria was defeated at the Battle of Sadowa (Koniggratz). The Treaty of Prague was created in August of that year and excluded Austria from all German affairs. Throughout the process of creating the Treaty, Bismarck made sure that Austria didn t lose any land. After this, the German Confederation was dissolved and the North German Confederation was formed. The North German Confederation consisted of all of the German states north of the Main river and it was controlled by Prussia. The southern states such as Baden and Bavaria stayed independent, although they had military alliances with Prussia. A main problem that delayed further unification was France, ruled by Napoleon III. The French held a growing idea that a Germany that was united and ruled by Prussia would create competition against France for being the main power in Europe. In 1870,
  • 38. Liberalism And Ligalitarianism Politics is often discussed on the basis or right and wrong, left and right, and is riddled with false dichotomies, when it really is a much more vivid and complex spectrum than that. There are many different systems of governments and competing ideologies, that are further then divided in their leanings and priorities. Of the first ideologies, Liberalism, is also subcategorized into different interpretations based on how much of liberty is attainable and a governmental presence there should be. It is divided into Classical Liberalism, Social Darwinism, Egalitarian Liberalism, Libertarianism, and Libertarian Anarchism. The reason there is much contention within Liberalism as an ideology on its own, is because all of these factions idealize... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... On the one hand, with the emergence of the nation state and theories of sovereignty in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, ideas of a distinctly public realm began to crystallize. On the other hand, in reaction to the claims of monarchs and, later, parliaments to the unrestrained power to make law, there developed a countervailing effort to stake out distinctively private spheres free from the encroaching power of the state. Natural rights theories were elaborated in the seventeenth century for the purpose of setting limits on state power, both over property and religious conscience(3). Many philosophers such as Locke, Miller, and Paine, and Kant argue for these rights due to the fact that there was a great social awakening and a growing urge to question the legitimacy of leadership. On these basis stood the foundation of classical liberalism. Classical Liberalism prioritizes above all things complete and total individual liberty. Believers in Classical Liberalism assert that it must be served in completeness because any lack of it creates citizens that are willingly dependent on the government. It is imperative to understand that Classical Liberalism does not call for complete anarchy or even no government at all like Libertarian Anarchists do, but rather a small government. Thomas Paine describes this idea as Society in every state is a blessing, but government even in its best state is but a necessary evil; in its worst
  • 39. Disadvantages Of Globalization Globalization is the accelerated increase in activity in International economy. It is an anomaly in regards to economics and communications. However, it does influence politics. At its heart, globalization is built on the twin pillars of capitalism and high tech communications . (Riemer, Simon, Berry 2016). The most evitable characteristic is the large increases in economic integration and interdependence in trade, banking, transportation, and investment. The trade figures alone are staggering. International tradesuch as merchandise exports has steadily increased after World War II (Riemer, Simon, Berry 2016, p. 317). However, with all the benefits globalizationprovides countries of the world such as increased economics, culture, work ethic, and increased communication it does come with disadvantages such as increasing unemployment in developed countries, increasing trade deficit in developed countries, and terrorism (Reddy Vyas, 2004). . Advantages of Globalization According to Riemer, Simon, Berry (2016) Globalization is a process of interaction and integration among people, companies, and governments of different nations, a process driven by international trade and investment and aided by information technology . Globalization does lead to better economic growth. Economic growth is important for wealthy as well as poor countries, since the countries without economic growth do not feel safe or secure. However, the results of economic globalization
  • 40. The Contract By Iyayi Critical Analysis There exists a symbiotic relationship between literature and the critical comments on it. Literature requires criticism for its growth and criticism requires a literary work upon which to validate its usefulness (Wright 1973). The novel especially is meant to enlarge our understanding of life and deepen our knowledge of the social, political and historical issues of our societies (Palmer, 1986). The novelist should be able to present a fully realized body of life and create realistic characters and situations in the story if it should be considered as successful. A novel, according to Palmer (1986), is realistic ... if it deals with issues and modes of conduct applicable to human beings and if the author, by using certain techniques, convinces ... But as the story progresses, we begin to witness a gradual diminution in his convictions. Indeed, it is the culminating concept of the entire Bible. So as the biblical writers proclaimed this good news to all, so we, in turn, proclaim it to others. One of the most famous of all passages which is located in John says For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life (New International Version, John. 3.16). This is a passage that a Christian might refer you to if you were to ask them what is the gospel. The good news of the gospel is that Jesus lived a life of perfect righteousness, of perfect obedience to God, not for His own well being ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... You do that, you re declared just by God, you re adopted into His family, you re forgiven of all of your sins, and you have begun your pilgrimage for eternity. In Corinthians 15:1 4, the apostle Paul summarizes the most basic ingredients of the gospel message, namely, the death, burial, resurrection, and appearances of the resurrected Christ. It states Now, brothers and sisters, I want to remind you of the gospel I preached to you, which you received and on which you have taken your stand. By this gospel, you are saved, if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain. For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins. According to the Scripture(1 Corinthians. 15.1 4). 1 Peter 2:24, Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness(1 Peter. 2.24). These verses, which were an early Christian confession, give us the heart of the gospel and show the that the resurrection is an integral part of the gospel. Note that Paul described this as of first importance a phrase that stresses priority, not time. The stress is on the centrality of these truths to the gospel message. As I stated earlier the word gospel is said many times in the Bible. But usually, it is accompanied by another word. Such as the gospel of John or the gospel of the kingdom. In the New

  • 43. Analysis Of The Movie Workplace Tension Workplace Tension In his 1916 silent film Intolerance, D.W. Griffith pioneered editing techniques that helped establish montage as a core component of film language. Griffith set out to unite four disparate storylines under the common theme of love s eternal battle with intolerance. While Griffith believed this film achieved its goal, some of his contemporaries argued that Intolerance was a magnificent failure (Eisenstein, 241). Indeed, Eisenstein proposed that the unification Griffith sought to create was impossible because the juxtaposition of these stories did not create new meaning. Instead, Eisenstein wrote that the lack of conflict between shots prevented the synthesis of a higher meaning, or montage trope. While it is true that Intolerance generally does not accomplish montage trope, especially when referencing Walt Whitman s Out of the Cradle Endlessly Rocking, where Griffith explicitly attempts it, there are examples of its implementation. Griffith does manage to achieve this higher meaning in the scene depicting a labor strike. Eisenstein s claim that Griffith never incorporates montage tropes into his films is false as demonstrated by the social criticism in the juxtaposition of the striking mill workers and Mr. Jenkins. Eisenstein describes montage trope as the juxtaposition of images resulting in a greater abstract meaning. By abstract, Eisenstein means that the significance of the juxtaposition is not confined to the individual images on the screen.
